Luckily for Gerri, news of her firing never made it downstream or was formally announced. Now with everything else going on, she has leverage and a claim to stay with the company, fuck everyone over and come out on top. I hope this is how it plays out because she has consistently been the smartest, most competent person in the company.
my guess is that the associates will take Gerri's side vs the Kids and act like Logan never talked about firing her in return for something they can never get from the Kids
@@marcvsantonivs3171 oh yeah I know Frank, Karl, Roman, Tom & Carolina know about it, but that’s it and now they’ve all got bigger fish to fry and you could tell Carolina wasn’t totally on board. When Logan mentioned it to her she had this look on her face like “wait…wtf??”
Roman didn't want Gerri's boyfriend to leave because he knew when he was left alone with her his expressions would give him away that he had to fire her. Logan was cruel as fuck. He could have got any one of his minions to fire Gerri but he picked the one person who he knew didn't want to do it. Reminds you of when he dragged Kendall to the dead waiter's house.
This scene went from funny to sad real quick. Roman handled it really badly and poor Gerri realized despite how hard she worked for the company she's not valued by the Roys, not even Roman. This is all his fault, if he had never sent her these pictures...
Agree with everything except the Roman part. It was visibly hard for him to do this and he could've been colder given she did literally nothing to help Roman at the end of Season 3, saying "how does it serve my interests".
@@ram7870 Yea, I think Roman actually respects her but hes a Roy, He doesn't know how to handle a normal interaction with somebody he respects. This is why Gerri didn't console Roman later when he was trying to tell her just how bad he was really feeling about Logan's death and she had a cold response and just gave him "the room".
The smartest thing for her is to distance herself from him. Roman knew he was ending their friendship when he delivered the news, too, hence the hesitation and the angry phone call to Logan.
Logan fired her because he wanted Roman by his side and Gerri had something against him (the infamous pics) GERRI KNEW she was being fired because of Roman's behavior towards her. It frustrated her because she TOLD him that he should stop sending the items💀 And she ended up paying for it
Gerri 100% got fired due to Romulus sending her explicit pics. They even reminded us of that storyline in the “Previously on Succession” recap before this episode. Has to be relevant, and probably why their “friendship” is done for good.
The worst part is that if rome had just waited like an hour to talk to her he wouldn’t have needed to since. yk. the person who wanted to fire her would be dead
Its possible that Roman's upset voicemail he sent to Logan is what triggered the heart attack. Tom mentioned that Logan died fishing his phone out of the toilet. This means that if Roman waited to fire Gerri then Logan might not have had the heart attack until after he touched down, giving him way better odds of survival.
Would be fitting if Gerri became CEO by the end of all this considering she was initially offered the job while Logan was in hospital and throughout the series everyone claims she could never do the job despite being the most consistently competent employee
Roman's feelings for Gerri were the closest thing one could call romantic love in his case. This was one of the few times I genuinely felt he was mortified to do his father's bidding. After this, he went outside and almost started crying, but then Kendall showed up. Also in the finale, when the kids are watching that video of their father at the dinner table, and then Gerri shows up in it, Roman's reaction to seeing her is so sad. I think even though they sadly stemmed from years of abuse and many psychological problems, the feelings were true.
The final ep - his boardroom breakdown - was 100% because he saw Gerri and had a mild panic attack, which cemented in his brain (finally!) that he could never be CEO, and why he asked Kendall to give him a physical reason - break his stitches. Masterful show.
Thinking it over, her firing went from nonsense to a smart decision and here is why: Logan needed to prune Roman before formally getting him on his side. Gerri was a potential concern that needed to be resolved. Logan knowing the submissive nature of Roman knew that if he was going to be in a high position in the company it should be directed only to Logan. Gerri could easily work through Roman to amass more power, not to say her having his pictures that were compromising Roman. At the end of the day, personal feelings aside, Logan knew she had to go: maybe only because he lost out on the other two as candidates in the succession of him. Also this serves as a hard lesson to Roman to shiv the person he loves for his own good.
Guys, I think I like Willa and Connor. If Connor was more like his dad, he would try to play Willa into a corner and force her to do what he wants, but he hasn't. He's not deceived her once. And neither has she deceived him. They both seem to be doing their best together. From Connor's perspective, this is the woman he loves, and the fact that she is a prostitute and he is her client is an emotional obstacle for him, but he doesn't take it out on her or anyone else, he just tries to move forward. His proposal is crap, about being a bulletproof candidate, but he does seem to actually love her. She's a terrible writer, evidenced by her last-minute revision of Moe's eulogy, and the play is a disaster, but does he lash out at her or anybody else? No. He is tender with her while he quietly goes bankrupt. They're both kind of misfits. Both a bit fucked. But they are a bit good for each other?? Like, they support each other's dreams, and have each others' backs? She helps him see his blind spots??? They are honest and forthcoming together??? I dunno guys...
Roman REALLY has changed and grown a lot. He went from the guy tearing up a million dollar check in front of a kid to not even thinking about the revenge and pleasure he'd get out of getting to fire Gerri. He's become a lot better than where he was and that's been his journey over the course of the show.
Roman was horrible to Gerri and it's his fault she was fired, that's way worse than what he did to that kid cause he didn't know that kid, this was especially cruel because he actually knows her and this happened to Gerri because of his harassment that's why he doesn't feel good about it but he still did it.
