It's still weird af for me that apparently most Americans don't learn how to drive with a 5speed first.. APPARENTLY it's what I've heard so far if I'm wrong please correct me
But Claire doesn't get it right. It's a soft o as in "soft', not a hard o as in "hole". Somewhere in America, there's a special language school that teaches Americans how to mispronounce words from other languages. There are similar schools in most English-speaking countries. In Australia we have a graduate school for bad pronunciation that's attended by sports presenters. When a specialist tennis commentator can't be bothered to pronounce a competitor's name correctly, I just think that it's very bad manners. I had a brilliant French teacher in primary school. His mother was French and he spent all his summer holidays in France refreshing his accent. My first mother-in-law was Italian from Italy. She and her daughter taught me about Italian pronunciation. The English O sound grates.
@@hugod3632 Hugo, it's because the tongue hits different places in the mouth for different letter sounds in various languages. Look up some dialect coach review videos for more info. It's honestly quite fascinating! I believe there's a Vox video on the subject as well iirc

Brad and Claire should totally have their own show together where they do things outside their comfort zone, much like Brad is with dough!
as fun as that would be I think Claire would snap one day
I feel like when it comes to food, something outside one of their comfort zones is always in the other’s comfort zone
Only if we can get vin and put a bell on him
They are the best together for sure!
I love them interrupting the producers haha
4:16 Claire deciding to choose her battles wisely & let the “Briogge” go 🤣
5:22 She can’t take it anymore... “Say Brioche.”
😆
I never understand why English speaking people act as if our words can't be pronounced, you have the same sounds. Do you eat madged potatoes ?
"Claire, that's what I'm saying: briogge" - Brad, as he says a word vaguely similar to "brioche".
@@hugod3632 Hugo, it's because the tongue hits different places in the mouth for different letter sounds in various languages. Look up some dialect coach review videos for more info. It's honestly quite fascinating! I believe there's a Vox video on the subject as well iirc
I just have to say that Brads story about driving stick is exactly how I talked my Dad into teaching me to drive stick. 😂
I don't know about anyone else, but I would totally watch a video of Brad teaching Claire how to drive stick.
Please do this
Materva1 I’m ready to see an episode on BA
This. Needs. Done. Immediately.
Now Claire's "not now, Brad" vibes make all the more sense
50% of this video is banter while they mix the dough...
... and I love it
Yaaaas, I could have watched them forever
Im here for it!!
With Claire leaving BA it saddens me that we won’t see this great chemistry between these two in the future. Hopefully that’s not the case and they can make more videos together outside of the test kitchen. Their energy raises my spirits every time I watch them together.
I must say, we all definitely miss the Brad and Vinny interactions, but Brad and Claire are quite literally some of THE BEST videos that come out on this channel. If there were a way to make more videos with these two doing just about anything, I'm almost positive people would flock to the channel. I'd probably make more accounts just to give more support. I love these two!
Is vinny totally gone? Is the new guy continuing his style or something
@@davidboyd3998 It's the same editor as it was when Vinny was filming, Matt Hunziker (the guy we see filming Brad with the smaller camera in this video). I assume he does all the filming and the editing for It's Alive now.
where did Vinny go ? is he gone ?
@@ZainabKhan-tj9hv Went to babish
@@ZainabKhan-tj9hv he works for Babby Babbish now
"Jar 2/3 full" is such a Brad thing to say. Not really what you expect, kinda wrong, but oddly heartwarming.
Very dad thing.
This is exactly what I needed. The look on Claire's face every time Brad said "Briogge" (or whatever it was he said) was *chef's kiss*
Rikki White the best part was her mouthing it trying to sound it out 😂
Love how professional her set up is with like six people and a bunch of different cameras and he’s just got one guy with a handheld
Can you imagine having to do a Gourmet Makes AND wrangle Brad in the same workday? Praise be to St. Claire!
When she asked about going for a drink right at the end, I really empathised with her.
Especially that Starburst episode, which was about as close to an unmitigated disaster I've seen on Gourmet makes, though at least she didn't have to temper chocolate.
@@RainaThrownAway Ooh, what is Starbursts had a shell of tempered chocolate around them?
If there's anything I love more than seeing Brad and Claire in the same video, it's knowing there's a PART 2 to seeing Brad and Claire in the same video!
Chris: Spends "a year" developing and testing donuts.
Brad and Claire: Let's make doughnuts.
Priya: heats up leftovers and calls her dad
Chris got it done without a problem and everybody loved them.
They're completely different types of doughnuts though...
Hey, serves Chris right for not putting a crumb coat on his carrot cake...
I waited way too long to watch this because I wasn't caring about donuts. OMG the Claire and Brad back and forth is better than 90% of television shows.
You can literally see pieces of Claire's brain breaking every time Brad says "Brioche". i am dying here.
And the way she is saying it is also wrong, but it is wrong in a more Fru Fru way.
Correct pronunciation - bre-oh-sh
The last-neuron standoff between Claire, and Brad's pronunciation
Brioche is a tough one to explain how to pronounce. It's not Bree-oh-sh but Bree-yosh with the second syllable having the emphasis... kind of missing the y while you say it and you have to roll that R... :)
@@GotrekGurninsson incorrect
16:38 "Brad likes to invite me on the show, tell me how to live my life, and then ignores all my expert advice."
I felt that.
Brad & Claire: make doughnuts part 1
Morocco: am I a joke to you?
Lmao
They even threw out the way Chris spells donuts.
I really really miss this two! 😔♥️
