Pastry Chefs Attempt to Make Gourmet Andes Mints | Gourmet Makes | Bon Appétit

- Brad Leone and Chris Morocco are back for another episode of Gourmet Makes. This time, these two guys who have always hosted and always will host Gourmet Makes are attempting to make a gourmet version of Andes Crème De Menthe, America's favorite after dinner mint. Strangely, one of our editors had the idea that Claire Saffitz had always been the host of Gourmet Makes though they couldn't point to a single episode that Claire had hosted. We're all very worried about the editor, because as we all know, Chris and Brad ARE Gourmet Makes.
Follow Brad on Instagram: @bradleone
And Chris too: @moroccochris
Filmed on 2/24/20.

This video in a nutshell:
“Where’s mom?”
“Mom isn’t here”
“But she usually gets me ready”
“I said *_mom isn’t here”_*
Haha yeah
Haha yeah
Brad is a total kid off meds. He's embarrassing. I don't know how he's married with children.

After this Brad should take "works well in teams" off his resume, and replace it with "you'll like me despite..."
The ADD struggle where the part of your brain that enthusiastically wants to tell someone about something goes much faster than the part that forms coherent sentences
"We locked Claire in the basement"

This episode without context
Brad is chaotic good in it’s very definition
Drama in the Bon Appetit fandom
Murder he wrote
29:46 "Have you ever had someone comb your eyebrows before?"... tops it all off imo lol.
Bon Appetit’s definition of an April Fool’s joke is giving Claire a break while putting her two strongest judges to the test.
and STRUGGLING :P
To be fair it's a good definition
Lol and this episode is on easy mode too imagine if they had to do skiddles

"tiny minty choklit bar" is the best thing I've heard all week
brad and chris explaing their method to claire gives me "2 students explaining to a teacher why their essays had the exact same wording" vibes
we asked and they delivered. truly, none of us deserve ANY of this
My dumb a$$: what a brilliant idea. They should’ve saved this for April fool’s!

I’m pretty sure Chris can match everybody’s energy, and even make them be used the best way.
is no one acknowledging the fact that BA once again listened to the people and released a video about switching the shows for April Fool’s day? alright
Jenron Yee 👌🏼
Thank you! I was looking for this comment! Can't believe they did it and no one is saying anything about it!
BA is the UA-cam Channel we all love but don't deserve ; ;
Honestly it's so refreshing to see someone actually listen to the audience
I know! This totally made my day.
If they separated Claire into brains and feelings. That would be it
This is Inside Out of Claire's brain.
“We’re gonna do everything that Claire does. Except freak out.”
“I’m freaking out”
This comment has way too few likes. FACTS.
I’m convinced that’s what actually happened
This is the best comment so far.
This may be the first time I’ve seen Claire have legitimate disdain for Brad and Chris. She wanted them to suffer lmao.
I love that it takes two guys plus Sohla’s help to sorta equal one Claire.
This 😂
Brad and Chris are like the friends in school that partnered for the project, Sohla is the girl who already finished her project who keeps helping them, and Claire is the teacher trying to tell them they didn’t follow half the guidelines while they try to convince her they did.
teacupika nailed it!!!!!!👍👍
If that ain't the truth!
The truth have been told!
No, let's be honest, Claire is the perfectionist friend that doesn't understand how they finished the project because she has a bunch of personal hurdles that cause her problems, but no one else. Everyone has these things, certain issues and almost, like, triggers that cause them to just shut down. So while Brad and Chris were like, "Tempered chocolate, yeah, let's do this, even if it's a mess" Claire would have been like, "OH MY GOD, I can't do that. It would be stupid, even if it succeeds, which is all anyone cares about. Except me, I have to do it my way, perfectly, or else it's time for a meltdown."
Never have I read something more true
This is like when the A+ student who studies really hard is put together with the class clown who wings it yet always gets an A get put together for a class project.
THIS IS SO ACCURATE
Absolutely 😂
The weird part is that it feels like Chris is the class clown and Brad is the A+ student.
that is the perfect description
😂😂
Who came back just to see who wore that apron with andy's mint melted into the pocket xD
i guess it was chris!
LOL I forgot about that!
I did it lol
Claire.
Wow Sohla was the real MVP here. Maybe BA and Adam Rapoport should compensate her for her time and her expertise that allowed for this video to be a success.
Or maybe sohla should go independent even. Maybe ba’s limiting her genius
The amazing folks at BA generally should go independently. Just like Buzzfeed, BA is limiting everyone working with it.
Luckily, companies are not run by people who don't know how employment works.

but they must have filmed these pretty far in advance - before mid-March or so, due to COVID
Amy Zhu it was filmed February 24th, says it in the description!
Amy Zhu but people have been commenting and asking about it before that, at least i’m pretty sure
Whenever someone doesn't know how to do something: "SOOOOOHHHLAAAAAA!!!"
Yeah, but paying her for it was apparently too complicated for BA.
This is like being able to see the angel and demon that are on Claire's shoulders during a regular episode.
Which is which though
@@AA-yk1vq Brad the demon, coz he always has something to say about Claire's gourmet makes every time haha
The more I keep going on, the more your comment keeps making me cry laughing 😂 props and bless you
Brad is both of them.
harkry agreed...Claire is probably enjoying this😎.
brad and chris: why does claire hate tempering chocolate??? she always make everything so hard for herself
brad and chris an hour later: AAAAAAAAAAAA
brad 20 minutes into it after reading ingredients: *is on the floor*
Brad has 0 patience.
Besides her not being able to temper chocolate, the way she molds is infuriating. It's so weird watching a professional chef do singles layer by layer without a tray when it's 100x to do the whole tray mold. She tried to convince Chris in this episode it's easier her way, when clearly Chris' way worked and is how production chocolate is made. We need an episode where Sohla shows her how to mold.
Chris's face when he gets the weight right at the end is SO perfect. I have never seen him so happy
Alternate Title:
"Brad and Chris attempts to temper chocolate, ends up having Sohla do it"
Legend has it Claire still hasn’t said what she wanted to say 🙈
That part killed me😂😂
*all women related v hard*
It was kinda painful to watch.
The “reading the ingredients” section had BIG high-school presentation energy, where Chris did most of the research, handed Brad the cue cards the day-of, and whispered corrections/cues throughout the presentation.
this ep had chaotic group project written all over it. 😂
“Yeah, that’s what I said.”
Oh my gosh the accuracy of this comment 🤣
the perfect analogy lmao
😂
brad saying “i like when chris laughs” and then chris not being able to stop laughing-
I DESPERATELY want to see a road trip movie made with Brad and Chris. Their energy is just phenomenal.
Would be like that muppets scene of Kermit and Fozzie singing “movin’ right along”
This is the sassiest Claire we’ve ever seen the eye rolls were wild

@@methebee honestly I think it was just a skit...

i loved every second of it
@@vivalibertasergovivitelibe4111 they're always putting on a little show for the camera, but it's definitely based on their actual personalities. I love it!
The pure joy in Chris’s eyes when the scale showed their gourmet Andes weighs exactly 4.8grams 🤣🤣🤣
can't teach that
That's the face I make when my plug hooks it up a straight gram
I thought the joke there was that he read the scale and then repeated the actual measurement as the target. So if it said 4.1, he would have said "4.1, exactly!"
His rip of the paper down the middle was as precise as that 4.8grams on the scale!
We need more Brad and Chris collaborations. I thought that Brad's solo videos were the pinnacle of chaos, but I was way, way wrong. These two together was chaos incarnate, and I want more of it!
I have to say their utter melt down was entertaining but it could’ve done without all the Claire trash talking and acting like children.
The ending was basically Ross and Chandler gushing over a job well done while Monica rolls her eyes 😂
*Brad’s golden retriever* energy, and *Chris’s unreasonably expensive cat* energy is giving me life!
Best comment ever
expensive cat 😂😂😂
This is the most accurate description of theses two ever 😂
THATS IT!!! NAILED IT!!
Well. Nothing more accurate has ever been said about this channel. Now to define Claire's energy. I'm tempted to say blood hound. But she also holds the cat energy.... hmmm.
They should have called this episode, "How Many Chefs Does It Take To Be Claire Saffitz".
Unsure, they didn't bring in enough
THIS
One Sohla.
only one sohla
Best of Brad's "that's what I said":
3:40 New York Peppermint Pattie
6:10 Cocoa processed with alkalee
6:18 Soy lay Letchin
the episode shows that claire and sohla are supreme and deserve more respect
And here we are
Lol
Chris and Brad justifying their process to Claire at the end looked so much like two high school kids bullshitting their way out of a bad group project and succeeding solely because of their ability to talk faster than the teacher
They also needed a smart kid to help them out.
😂😂 great way to describe that, perfect actually.
I did it so many tines and got away with it "most" times.
