Dimensions included: I just completed the blanket in about 3 hours start to finish. I used a bulky yarn, No.6 - Bernat baby blanket yarn, 5 skeins. With casting on18 stitches, the blanket is only about 22 inches wide when I laid it flat after knitting. You can pull it and stretch it wider though. If I make another, I would cast on 20 or 22. I like my blankets big and snuggly. My finished blanket was about 6 feet long. It would obviously be shorter if I cast on more stitches. Again, this whole thing stretches out. The finished project is absolutely gorgeous. It does have a right side and a wrong side. It honestly doesn’t matter as both sides are lovely.
It depends on the brand you use. If it’s fluffier it will be warmer and if it’s thinner you can just use more yarn. It is wayyy cheaper if you find the yarn on clearance.
Hi Maggie I just wanted to know how to attach other yarn in arm knitting when skiens are running low. Thank you for your video I can't wait to try this new project. Your videos have been so helpful. I hope you make more fun arm knitting content soon
Absolutely beautiful and I so very enjoyed it, thank you. What is your definition of thick yarn? To me thin yarn is a 3, 4, or maybe even a 5. #6 yarn is very thick when looming. Would you please give some guidelines - if I have a lot of 4 or 5 yarn left, how many strands should I use? Thank you for your time and sharing your experience. DJ
This is so amazingggg I bought a bunch of thin yarn and it takes forever to needle knit anything that I just stopped knitting for a long time because I refused to buy thicker yarn until I used it up…. I’ll be making a rainbow blanket like this!!!
So much better than the late yarn blankets! those are usually made with roving of acrylic/wool and it sheds and shreds apart as soon as its in use, the way creates a sturdy blanket for 1/6th of the price!
Me and my son sat down on our giant bean bags and started with the simple yarn we have for practice and it’s so relaxing and when we all done practicing the we will order our yard that you use here. Am not sure if you share how to how to get the off if needs to but I thought to use a stick that I collected for Macramé project and used it as a arm and, when I come back I can continue my work putting my hoops on my arm. My hoops ended on the stick on my right when I continue my work I would start to put my hoops on my left arm.
I am looking to make a finger knitting blanket and I can only spend 10 dollars and at the store I am going to, it only has normal wool so this was so helpful as all the other tutorials I have seen use thicker yarn. So I am going to go purchase it now
This is probably one of the most helpful videos on blanket making with your arms. Thank you so much for sharing this video, I can’t wait to try it out for myself!
Hi, fantastic instructional video. I especially love the look of simultaneously using multiple skeins. I've done it with finger crocheting, and looking forward to trying it with arm knitting. Could you please give the final dimensions of the blanket and how many skeins, or more specifically yards (since skeins may vary in their yard length), you used to complete a blanket of those dimensions. Thank you!
Loved the tutorial as it was easy enough. Once bought a lot of yarn because it was on sale, even though I don't know how to do anything with yarn, so it was put to good use. This is the first time I knit anything and it looked kinda ugly because I made it too loose but I like ugly things xDD
I think if you have an empty cardboard wrapping paper roll or an empty paper towel roll you could slip it inside your project to hold your place. Oooooh, even better you could slip it onto a paper towel holder that sits on the counter and that way it wouldn't slip off.
Greetings from Norway you sweet talentet Maggie :-) I just learned how to knit and crochet, but wow... you are so good at showing and teaching us all kinds stuff to make - arm knitting, wow, I didn't even know that's a thing
Ur a gd teacher but u could of showed more of each row. Beginners like me had to go back several times to watch to see how to start and complete blanket. I Love the blanket great idea of saving money looks fantastic. Thank you Peggy!!!
This is an awesome video! I’m watching this while doing something else so I might’ve missed this.. but can you use yarn other than anti-pilling? I want to make a blanket in quarantine but the yarn can get pretty expensive. The dollar store sells yarn (not anti-pilling) and even though it wouldn’t be the best quality, it would probably be around $12 as opposed to $50. Thanks for the great video!
Good video, but I needed to see the finished product displayed. What size did it end up being? What was the measurements? Show it thrown over the back of a couch or a bed so we can see a full picture of it, close up and from a distance. Very interesting way to make a blanket. Thank you!
@@Catharlyn exactly what I want to know too. I love you Maggie, but if you could be a little bit more concise regarding the finished piece that would be great. Thanks
Same questions, this is the 3rd video I watched and none have the finished product really displayed, it’s hard to see in the few seconds of it bundled up :( but l will def try this method and give it a shot! Looks fun and she makes it look easy! I’m sure it’s not as easy as it looks!
What is the size of blanket you ended with? I am wondering if that would fit on a queen sized bed? Please forgive me if you said in video and i didn't catch it! I am complete beginner! This blanket is beautiful!!!
Whenever I bring the first set of stitches to the left hand, at the last(top) stitches I have these strings dangling which I don’t know how that occurs. And they are like loops dangling from the stitch. Did this happen to anyone else and know how to stop this from happening??
I don’t understand how mine when from looking normal to once I laid it out they were just big square holes. What did I do wrong can you please help me.
It would be nice for you to hold up the blanket so we can see what it looks like , how wide, and length. Also the camera could be better adjusted to be able to see the entire process. Thank you for the video
If anyone is still active please read this. I have similar size of yarn but it's fluffy and I want to use less than 6 strands of yarn. Will this make it worse? Less thick? Or maybe better
It would make your video more infotmative if you would have shown the finished product properly..like its length and breadth after 18 cast on and 36 rows.. It would have helped me to know how big I want mine.
SUSHMITA RAY That would’ve revealed the large spaces created by arm knitting. I would need to wear socks to keep my toes from poking through it , if I had one of those.
i am so sorry, i still dont understand how u get 6 strands from 4 yarns. I already watched previous video (White blanket), how u get 3 strands from 1 yarn, altho u explain it in the very beginning, but i still dont get it
There are more yarns. There are six but 2 are out of view. In the white blanket she has 3 yarns but she showed how to pick the strand from the middle. She had already done it with two other yarns
Wow that is amazing! Thank you for taking such time to teach this at a pace beginners can keep up with. I’ll have to practice. And sorry I accidentally hit the dislike button first. 😬
I love the color possibilities with this method. My mom is a total yarn hoarder and I would be more then happy to get rid of em 6 skeins at a time. 😌

Okay but how do you do rowsssss im struggling so bad with rows
I absolutely LOVE this tutorial it took me literally less than 45 minutes to make and the final product was gorgeous! Thank you so so so so so much.
Why did I end up here? I dont know.
Am I going to spend all my money on yarn to try this? YES. Yes. I. Am.
Thank you for this video. Do you think this way is as warm as the thicker yarn? What about the price is it really cheaper?
It's warmer than a normal thick wool blanket. And I personally believe, it's cheaper
I was able to find yarn on the dollar tree! Defined won’t be the best quality, but it’d be cheaper. (I haven’t finished the video ;)
Quick update: the dollar tree doesn’t have anti-pilling yarn, though!
It depends on the brand you use. If it’s fluffier it will be warmer and if it’s thinner you can just use more yarn. It is wayyy cheaper if you find the yarn on clearance.
Oh my gosh this is he type of vid I was looking for months love ya
I used blue , purple , grey , pink, and yellow! And turned out perfectly! Thanks a lot

DJ Sorensen I was wondering how many to use with a 4/5 as well. I would love if Maggie would respond..

Thank you, I've never been able to knit but I'm thinking I might be able to do this. thx for sharing

TYSM I LOVE THIS ITS SO CUTE TYSM❤❤❤❤❤
Love your instructions usally cant follow tutorials well but this was easy but could I please know the measurements of the blanket
I just wanna say your voice is so cute and I tried this and it worked perfectly you are amazing
Loved the tutorial as it was easy enough. Once bought a lot of yarn because it was on sale, even though I don't know how to do anything with yarn, so it was put to good use. This is the first time I knit anything and it looked kinda ugly because I made it too loose but I like ugly things xDD
somebody toucha my spaghett XDD Quick question: was it anti-pilling? I’m too dumb to figure out if you can use one other than anti pilling :P
What happens if you need the loo while you're busy knitting? :( lol
I think if you have an empty cardboard wrapping paper roll or an empty paper towel roll you could slip it inside your project to hold your place. Oooooh, even better you could slip it onto a paper towel holder that sits on the counter and that way it wouldn't slip off.
Honestly- I have to sit in the bathroom on the floor at 2 am to do this
Omg I wanna do this for the sake of my all leftover yarns 😍 always wanted this kind of blanket, thanks for tutorial!! ♥️😍
Thank you for sharing. I really want to try this technique and actually love the thicker yarn but $75+ for yarn right now is a bit steep for me!!
Greetings from Norway you sweet talentet Maggie :-)

You are totally talented Chick!.. I loved this blanket!.. new sub
You give great instructions! Love this!😊
How did you keep the first row tight on the last stitch when you switched arms?
Very nice. I love this, such a nice texture.
Thank you for sharing your tutorial..I have so much yarn i want to get rid of now in a blanket ❤️❤️
Ur a gd teacher but u could of showed more of each row. Beginners like me had to go back several times to watch to see how to start and complete blanket. I Love the blanket great idea of saving money looks fantastic. Thank you Peggy!!!

Hello, does anyone know how heavy this would be? I'm trying to make a baby blanket and then adding some flower embroidery.
Thanks
Good video, but I needed to see the finished product displayed. What size did it end up being? What was the measurements? Show it thrown over the back of a couch or a bed so we can see a full picture of it, close up and from a distance. Very interesting way to make a blanket. Thank you!
I add a photo at the end of the video as well as in the link in the description. measures approximately 5 feet long
@@SimplyMaggieblog It's a lovely photo, but it doesn't really make the dimensions of the blanket clear. If it is 5 feet long, how wide is it? Thanks!
@@Catharlyn exactly what I want to know too. I love you Maggie, but if you could be a little bit more concise regarding the finished piece that would be great. Thanks

I want to make one
You look very healthy. I remember in one vid you said you were struggling with an illness.
How many tidal skiens did you use? I know you did 6 strands so was it 12 total? And what was the approx yardage on each strand.
What is the size of blanket you ended with? I am wondering if that would fit on a queen sized bed? Please forgive me if you said in video and i didn't catch it! I am complete beginner! This blanket is beautiful!!!
Oh...That is Fabulous 🤗
Beautiful piece! Would you say this comes out to be a medium or large throw?
Thank you for sharing! 🌸
Absolutely pure excellence....
Awesome red ❤
Ty, yes I was looking for a video tutorial like this ty very much. Can you show with out long tail cast on? Ty
Love it!! Thank you! I have gift ideas 😊
Will def do this thank you!
has anyone made this with a worsted weight? if so, how many strands did you use?
how big did the blanket turn out?
can i use different colors instead of all 6 being the same and can i use 4 instead of 6
What happen if you can't finish it in one go and need to take a break? Can you pull your arm out?
A friend of mine would use a paper towel roll to slide the stitches off her hands for a break.
How many yarns we needed if i want to knit a good size blanket??. I have 4 roll. Each 400g, 198cm (approx)
Looks so good
Thank you Maggie! Trying to do one for my girlfriend right now
Will adding more knots (like 30?) Make it wider?
Question would u be able to use something other than ur arms to do this? Thank u
Hand knitting 👌🏻
I love this so much I am so excited to make this 😁💞
THANK YOU ALL I CAN FIND ARE TRANSITIONS
When I tried to start on my left arm and I pulled from the right to the left it was so loose, and I couldn’t make it tighter
Whenever I bring the first set of stitches to the left hand, at the last(top) stitches I have these strings dangling which I don’t know how that occurs. And they are like loops dangling from the stitch. Did this happen to anyone else and know how to stop this from happening??
My yarn is number 4 should I use 9 balls of yarn then?
I don’t understand how mine when from looking normal to once I laid it out they were just big square holes. What did I do wrong can you please help me.
I have tried 3 times now, and every time I get to 7:00 there is this long piece yarn between my hands! What do i do?
the same thing just happened to me what do i do :///
How big is this blanket?
Love it 😍
I only have 2 skeins, how to I get more strings?
You can use the ends of each one for 4, but will make a smaller product
thank you omg i’m going to try this !
i can not get this at all. i give up
Realizing this will cost the same as something I could buy and not run the risk of messing it up. Anyone know great yarn deals?
What length do you need?
how wide is this exactlu with 18 cast ons?
Thank you, can't wait to try, hopefully noone needs me🤭
Awesome!
It would be nice for you to hold up the blanket so we can see what it looks like , how wide, and length. Also the camera could be better adjusted to be able to see the entire process. Thank you for the video
Thank you so much very helpful

Genius!
Very good but I made it to tight so in was a real pain to take take it off:(
Good information, but the hands are not always in the picture.
It would make your video more infotmative if you would have shown the finished product properly..like its length and breadth after 18 cast on and 36 rows..

Hi there, theres a full picture at the end of the video as well as in the link in my description. It measures approximately 5 feet long.
SUSHMITA RAY That would’ve revealed the large spaces created by arm knitting. I would need to wear socks to keep my toes from poking through it , if I had one of those.
what i learnt from this vid is to buy blankets from target
the cast on is a bit hard because if the tail is too short you will lose all the stitches
For some reason I can't arm knit my rows right
One problem. I'm stuck on the slip knot part. It just keeps coming undone
Make sure you’re grabbing the working yarn and pulling it through the loop
i am so sorry, i still dont understand how u get 6 strands from 4 yarns. I already watched previous video (White blanket), how u get 3 strands from 1 yarn, altho u explain it in the very beginning, but i still dont get it
You can pull one stand from the middle and another from the top
There are more yarns. There are six but 2 are out of view. In the white blanket she has 3 yarns but she showed how to pick the strand from the middle. She had already done it with two other yarns
Wow
MAH ARMS STUCK N IM NOT CUTTING THE BLANKET
I can't do it
Sell you?
everyone like if this video was needed fo school
Ok wow i clicked on this video in 0.000001sec
This is knitting, but with your arms instead 😂 and we just doing knit stitch. How to u do purl tho? (No hate intended ❤️)
I only have 3
I only have one not 6

Wow that is amazing! Thank you for taking such time to teach this at a pace beginners can keep up with. I’ll have to practice. And sorry I accidentally hit the dislike button first. 😬
Make sure you use the bathroom before you start this
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
I used such random colours lol
Am I the only one who cut blood circulation off
