Two notes as someone who used to do tech support for Apple. One Apple replaces all the touch surfaces of refurbished devices and two to clean your devices alcohol wipes work great

To all the people who complain about "fingerprint magnet," just use a clean microfiber cloth lightly dampened with warm, distilled water. Works wonders on most surfaces.

All of my Macs that I purchased from Apple have been refurbished.
Watching this on a refurbished yellow M3 iMac w/ 16GB + 1TB and it's PERFECT. Going refurbished allowed me to double the RAM and the storage for the price of an 8GB/512GB. I like to think this was on Tim Cook's desk until I bought it. No regrets here!

I bought a refurbished early 2015 MacBook Pro in late 2015. I still have it and use it all the time.
The issue with the 14.2” display is that it is not 15.3” in size. Having got a 15” Macbook Air I cannot go down to a smaller screen size. My aging eyes benefit from being able to have the resolution at 1440x932 while the sharpness of the text is still great.
I got my air 15 m2 16 512 for 1295. It had 2 battery cycles. I chose it instead of an m1 pro 14. That bigger screen, cheaper and plus 2 more years of updates were enough to prefer it.
My just-retired my Apple Refurbished M1 MacBook Air (base model) purchased in late 2021. Absolutely no problems with it, came with a new battery with 2 charge cycles. It's replacement is a 15-in M3 MacBook Air which is new, also unboxed with two charge cycles in the battery.
Nice....but consider: For a small shop videographer / photographer, the Apple refurb store has the Mac Studio for just over $1500.00 (as of 5-5-24). M1 Max...10 core....32GB Unified Men.....512 SSD.....24 core GPU.....That's a spicy meatball. Since I use an iPad Air 5 for portable stuff, I am tempted to upgrade from my current base M1 Mini.
Tbh I wouldn’t bother since you can get the M2 Max version new for ~1700 regularly 👀

OK... so I bought a "refurbished" Mac Mini (M1) for my Dad last year. I now have it and its waiting its turn on the network. I have a M1 Air but at 13" its EASY to carry from place to place but lacks video editig power.. SO.. on YOUR advise, I bought a "Refurbished" MacBook Pro (October 2023) w/16GB. It will arrive Wednesday.
We are going to travel in a couple of weeks and Ill let you know how it holds up.. Im SURE it will be a GREAT addition to my Mac Addiction..

I hate that I keep wanting to wait for the next chip, but I still want to wait for the M4. I waited for M3 due to 3nm, but that didn't really bring too much of a difference. Even at M3's launch, there were rumors about all these hardware accelerated features that will be built into the next Mac and iPhone chip due to Apple's AI focus, and since that indeed appears to be the case, it only makes sense to wait for the M4. Unless one really needs a new machine; and let's face it, most of us just want but don't actually need an upgrade; waiting at the moment seems to be the best option. The M4, as i suppose we'll soon find out, will be outstanding. And not for its pure performance in benchmarks but rather the hardware accelerated features that will be built into the chip, particularly with the upcoming versions of MacOS and iOS.
Have bought and used multiple Apple refurb iPads. Always felt brand new and haven’t had any issues

I feel like today has been catch up on Greg's videos today then this one popped up as well :) My wife chose the M3 Air over this just because of the size and possibly the color, lol. After switching from a 16" Pro I would say that 14" is my favorite, portable and fits almost anywhere.
Hi Greg! I use MacBook 14” M1 Pro but I need secondary MacBook probably bigger display. I am so tempted by MacBook Air 15 or MacBook Pro 16. I know both have their advantages and disadvantages but which one would you buy for yourself if you were me ??
M2 MBA 15" with 16/512 would be great, but if you spot one with 24Gb RAM, snatch it! M2 runs like a top with the max RAM installed.
I am looking at MacBook Air M3 13 inch 2TB and 24g of memory because of school want something light , would I be able to learn photoshop and Final Cut with it till I get something more power I know I could get a pro but for now need something light and new
I agree. I bought my MacBook Air (M1) refurbished and its been great, can’t tell the difference between a new one and this refurbished. I always check to see if something is available refurbished before buying new at Apple.
4 cycles! That's had a new Topcase.... Apple must have plenty of spares to sell these machines at Grade One quality.

they were always new products, just in a new box, The Mac Pro 2019 has the original box. Never had any problems
Have bought Apple Certified Refurbished macbooks for years and wouldn't buy anything else. Bought my intel i9 16" refurbished in 2020 and have just bought my 16" M3 max unbinned refurbished. Saved £620 and it's spotless with 4 battery cycles. Zero reason to buy anywhere else if you can wait the 4 months or so it takes for refurbs to start to appear. This really isn't like buying used from Amazon, and the stigma associated to that.
You should compare a refurbished Pro versus refurbished Air? It paid off for me.
The downside of buying refurbished is that your credit card agreement is likely not to extend the warranty automatically by 1 more year. You will need to buy the AppleCare to have an extended warranty.

The best reason to go refurbished is what’s happening in the Congo. I want a new MacBook and am exploring the best place to get what I want refurbished, cause I want higher specks for a little gaming on the side of what I normally do.
I've had many refurbished Macs over the years and they all have been great so I am a fan. Plus being able to get AppleCare I don't worry is something go bad, it's covered. What I have heard is Apple doesn't do the refurbishing they have a 3rd party vendor that does it for them, so that's who you need to find out how they clean the keyboard so well.
Do you think this is a good deal in future terms, if apple changes the chip to the M4 as it sems it will be a new arquitecture?? Still upgrades safe for a long time??

I've never bought any macbook brand new simply due to the cost. And if I can get it hundreds cheaper in basically new condition then id rather do that. It's never turned out badly for me up to now so ill continue this way ☺

Ha, ha, Great video! I'd trust Apple if I purchased a refurbished device from them. Only problem now is the rumors about the M4 chip possibility. So I'm hesitant to buy an M3 chipped iPad or MacBook.
This video has come at a convenient time because I am considering buying a refurb iMac from Apple.
If you can live with 8 GB of RAM, then buy a refurbished MacBook Air.
