@@GregsGadgets They made allot of wierd decisions. They're still going to sell a s-ton of iPad 10s now though. Personally... I think the for a base price of $1000, the iPad Pros should come with the pencil.
@@jayvansickle7607 I wish, but Apple knows how much extra money they are making from it. Honestly, Apple should have found a way to lower the prices or keep them the same, but will never do this. Lots of parents use the iPads as baby sitters so the 64gb makes sense. Cheaper with less storage as all they just play UA-cam videos for their kids. (Considering the 64gb is lower priced than 128gb)
$350 for iPad 10 gets you 64GB, which just isn't enough. Getting the 256GB version costs $500, and at that point, you're much better spending the extra $100 and getting the iPad Air with M2, Apple Pencil Pro, laminated screen, etc.
I agree, except for students or if you don't do much. 64 is definitely not enough for a lot of stuff, but if you're exclusively taking notes and viewing lectures, and surfing chrome, 64 will do you fine. Coming from someone who will fill 2TBs os storage easilly with engineering files and programming projects, but can manage wiht the 64gigs on the iPad 9th gen since launch. Now admittedly, I hate that it is so low, but it wouldn't be the thing that makes me jump to the next tier, ya know?
I personally ordered the iPad Air w/M2, 128gb cellular. Yes they dropped the price on the iPad. But for me, I’m taking into consideration that it’s an A14 chip, which will be great for awhile, but then when the device gets to a point to where it won’t take updates because of the outdated chip and storage, and then it will be only a matter of time before Apple puts it on the end-of-life list because they will make software updates for it, it just won’t be the same ones that every other updated iPad with an M-series chip gets. Still a worthy iPad to get for new 1st time iPad owners and for people who are on a budget or a startup business who don’t want the mini, (or business in general), even for schools, that this iPad is catered for. Bottom line is, whatever YOUR needs are for, as they say.. “There is an iPad for everyone”! Happy shopping everyone.👍🏼
Yeah agree with this. Same reason I didn’t get the iPad mini. The chip in that is already 2 years old meaning it will become obsolete faster. I feel like an m2 mini would be the perfect ipad imo
I know "DON'T BE FOOLED" is a meme for you, but the display sizes being the same between the 10th gen iPad and the iPad Air is something I think a LOT of people could easily be fooled by just by looking at the specs, so thank you for pointing that out!
@@lnugent1000 I don't think Apple tries to be dishonest, but sometimes you have to look past their marketing and see what they're actually saying/not saying. In this case they've chosen to market the iPad Air as 11" (probably for clarity/simplicity) but had already been marketing the base iPad as 10.9" so decided to continue doing that as to not cause confusion.
I mean I agree that it is deceiving but let's be honest - nobody is going to choose Air over the regular just for that 0.1 inches screen size difference.
For me, the only real advantage the new air has is, future proofing . I don’t want to buy a new iPad every year or two. So, the air should be current or adequate longer.
My IPad Air 5th gen’s logic board has failed. Took it to Genius Bar yesterday and it is now basically an expensive brick. Just over 2 years old. According to the Genius Bar tech it’s my fault for not taking out a 5 year guarantee.
I completely agree about “future proofing”. I’m using an iPAD PRO 9.7” MM192LL/A, 128 go. Besides being unable to upgrade the O/S, some apps that I use won’t even load. At a maximum it’s 8 years old. My thinking generally runs towards buying a device that has some built-in longevity. I could spend “on the cheap” with the lesser device, yet if I keep the new AIR for 8 years, like my current model, the incremental difference is $200 equipped w/256 and with WiFi + Cellular. I’ll spend the extra $200 which over 8 years is $25 per year additional or $2 a month.
I bought my iPad 10th gen just last March and I use it as my main computer. After constant deliberation between an iPad Air M1, I’ve settled for the iPad 10 only because: 1. My work entails a lot of note-taking, creating presentations, brainstorming, and writing. 2. I don’t find a use case to use Stage Manager on the iPad for now since I mostly open 2-3 apps in which slideover is still sufficient. 3. I have to admit, I really love docking laptops. This is the hardest one. I really want to dock my iPad and use it with an external monitor. Again, I have to remind myself that my work also involves a lot of travel in which I rarely sit on my desk at home. Love the iPad 10. No regrets on my decision but it is quite a unique niche.
I’ve bought the iPad Pro 2022 the M2 is more then enough for me I wanted 120Hz and it’s about 25% cheaper then the new pro. I mainly use it for gaming, watching videos and using the Apple Pencil. The display is great and I’m happy with my choice :)
I have the 9th gen, I expect to get at least 3-4 more software updates. I would be shocked if the 10th gen doesn't have at least 5 years of software updates remaining.
I have the iPad Air 5th Generation. I use it for basic tasks, and it's great for traveling. I think Apple could make iPads more affordable for people, offer a higher amount of base-level storage, and charge less for memory upgrades.
I have both iPad Pro M4 and iPad 10th gen. There is no point in getting the iPad Air if you're just web browsing and watching movies/youtube. Regular iPad will work just fine.
Appreciate you putting this comparison video together. The differences in USB-C ports and M-chip specific applications/games was something I did NOT pick up just from reading the specs on the Apple website. Kind of BS that Apple thought this was not essential information?!😡
Basically if you’re someone who wants an iPad because you live on your phone for scrolling through socials and watching/streaming shows but want to do it on something bigger and not kill your iPhone then buy an iPad, it’s cheaper and it’s great for that.
have the 9th gen as well, the 64gb is a bit of a bummer but i only really use it for school and entertainment so there's barely anything in it (and i also have a 256gb macbook and 128gb phone so it's fine lol)
Apple Event next year Apple “Now we introduce you the new IPad Air with the M4 chip, better performance, new olded lights, new colors, better cpu “ 😂😂😂💀💀💀
So if I'm editing movies for redtube I should get the M2 iPad Air but if I'm just kicking back on the bus commuting to work watching redtub I should get the regular iPad? Is that correct?
I have the regular iPad 10 gen, it does everything that I need it for extremely well, so I don’t see any need for the air or the pro, not for what I am using it for.
Don't know about the US, but here in the UK it's easy to find sealed, brand new iPad Air models on eBay. I wouldn't say they are much cheaper, but it may make sense if someone wants the M1 in blue as it's blue seems a bit darker. :)
@@2tired2sleep2 Unfortunately, that's not true. Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the new iPad Pro (7th gen.) and new iPad Air (6th gen.). The new Magic Keyboard is only compatible with the new iPad Pro models (11" and 13" screens). If you buy the iPad Air you can use the 2nd gen. Apple Pencil and the Pencil USB-C. Both are great options depending on what you want to use it for.
Small point, but thank you for mentioning Affinity in addition to Photoshop, etc. They deserve a little love and reviewers rarely mention them by name! Overall, thoroughly enjoyed your comparison which has given me lots to think about. Upgrading a 7th Gen iPad. I'm leaning towards the Air, figuring the price difference will matter little over a 4-5 year run.
I don’t understand paying so much for extra storage. I use cloud storage for damn near everything. Additionally, unless you’re using it as your main device, the 13” is overkill. If I need more screen real estate I use my PC or laptop. I like the portability of the 11”. If anyone is looking for a case for M2 Air 11” (also fits the Air 4th and 5th Gen)check out the Torras Ostand Case. Great protection and adds minimal bulk and almost undetectable weight. The case literally weighs 9.2 ounces. Pricey buy well worth it. The dual kickstand is sweet. Best case by far.
I work in a factory and use my ipad for sketching a lot of piping and electrical drawings on the field, The usual spot i have to draw at doesn't have internet or 4G/5g so i have cant acces the cloud very easy when i need certain documents or drawings on the spot,
I have just purchased the 10.9 inch iPad , I already have an M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and find it a bit big to carry with me all the time, I have older models of iPad too. I had not considered purchasing this iPad as I thought it was well overpriced but now with the price drop it's reasonable. I found your video helpful, thanks👍
I think the problem Apple is facing is so many people already own previous gen iPads that are still capable of doing 90%of the tasks listed in this video. There doesn’t seem to be any real reason to upgrade. I still, have a 2018 iPad Pro that is so usable, I may not upgrade until it no longer receives software support.
I’m writing this on my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch. I’m finally upgrading because I cracked the screen and my battery life just doesn’t last as long. I ordered the 11 inch air as I’m hoping the M2 will give me as much longevity as this iPad Pro. This thing still does everything I need it too even at 7 years old!
Thanks for this great compassion guide. Air6 is definitely an artists dream and will make digiral art and video edits exciting to do. I cant wait to get mine...plus its my first ipad and step into the apple ecosystem.
This video post Greg, was very timely post Apple's announcements on Tuesday. Used to recommend most people buy from Apple, the basic iPad 9th generation but, now that this is no longer available, just buy the iPad Air. Because, it is better in every way (with the exception of price) than the basic iPad 10th generation (smile...smile).
My 10th gen is on the delivery van as I type this. The price drop clinched it for me. Need to retire my 9.7 2018 so this is a very exciting upgrade for me. My use case is only for watching videos, web browsing and listening to music. I don’t use the pencil at all. Also I have a feeling this model will leave the Airs and Pros in its dust when someone posts the battery drain test.
One thing few people say about iPad Air 13 and Pro 12.9 is the screen proportion. Since it is more squared-shape when you watch UA-cam videos you lose a lot of screen area forcing it to be empty on the top and at the bottom. I have both of these iPads here and the video size is not that different. So you think you are buying a larger screen but it is almost the same. It is hard to defend the new iPad Air: no promotion, no support to the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro, uses M2 instead of M3, it is heavier. The main problem with the regular iPad is operating system support; at this point you already lost almost half of its upgradability
Wow really? That’s why I was going to go for the 13 inch air.. just for screen size but I will mostly only use it to watch sports, UA-cam and movies.. and most movies have those black bars
@@kingkristo_1776 iPad's screen is 4:3 ratio whereas a Galaxy tab s9 ultra is 16:10. What this means for watching videos is that most videos are in the 16:10 proportion, so iPad has to put a black bar on the top and bottom of the video. In other words, you see the video smaller because of this adjustment. In a Galaxy Tab, the video covers the entire screen because it has the same proportion, so you see it bigger. In summary, even if on paper the screen size is the same, the experience is different because of this adjustment
I have been using iPad 10 for 7 month now and to be honest overall it’s really good, I use it for studying and note taking, the only negative I felt was that sometimes when I am writing notes the screen lags a bit, and the storage problem since I am using the 64 gb version. Other than that it’s pretty good
@@colin6711I definitely would! My nephew’s old iPad 8th Generation was only 32gb which was way too little so it glitched a lot due to the low storage and it was getting a bit old. The battery was dying too. Therefore, I got the air 5 with 256gb as even 64gb would not be enough.
Ipads are meant to be used for simple tasks, email, searching the web, youtube videos, doing simple sketches, editing photos, and not even videos. Anything more demanding use a laptop. I have an ipad pro (previous model)11 inches and a 9th gen ipad 10.2 (2021) both work well with no issues. Difference is: better speed smoother transitions, screen quality and pro motion 120hz none of them justify the price difference for doing basic stuff.
Knowing new iPads were coming out, I still opted to buy a 9th gen with 256GB of storage. I use the iPad as a supplemental device for both work & home. Split screen multitasking is good enough for my usage. Plus, I already had a Smart Keyboard & Apple Pencil. I’m tempted by the regular iPad now at $350, but not sure one processor generation up is worth it.
I agree. I got a 10th gen. Last week because it’s a true complementary device. I just don’t use it enough for me to consider it a productivity device so the 64gb doesn’t bother me. I most stream movies and music on it. No need to spend $800 on an air
Thanks for the video - you heled me lean toward the less expensive iPad. I'm using a 6 or 7 year old iPad Pro and I can barely browse the web to view recipes on blogs because it can't handle the load. I'd like to future-proof my purchase and get more than I need, and am stuck on iPad 10th gen vs iPad Air. Decisions decisions.
Personally I feel color shouldn't even be a point to consider, we're all gonna put a folio case on it anyway. Color doesn't matter if you can't see the color.
Terrific video! This really helps out a decision I'm making for a group gift to my dad. The comparison of the Apple keyboard accessories was especially helpful!
i have an ipad 6th gen, and wanted to upgrade to a ipad pro for the bigger screen for the past few years, but now that the Air has a big screen version, for cheaper than the pro, its definitely the one i want to get to upgrade. im an artist, and screen size is very important for how much side panels i can have open when drawing. and the new pencil will be nice, especially the barrel roll feature, because i do use shapely paint brushes that need all the control i can get
@@JJ_Magnificent hope I can afford it sometime this year. Then I won't have to think about iPads for a while, as I doubt they will release another update like this anytime soon
As someone planning on buying an iPad with music production as the main focus, I was leaning towards the 10th gen. I had no idea that Logic won't run on the A14 chip and that is an absolute deal breaker for me. Thank you so much for your detailed and concise comparison and for saving me from a huge disappointment!
It does run logic pro as I bought one yesterday and I have logic pro on it lool and it's even on the Apple store online it tells you that the iPad 19th gen works with logic it's on the product page
Helpful video. I upgraded my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 to just and iPad . The only downgrade to me was dropping to just two speakers….but I would have gotten the same with the Air.
I’m actually upgrading from iPad 10th gen to iPad Air 13 for the extra screen real estate and stage manager. It’s my main computer and I’m so glad to see a 13” device that isn’t $1300.
The issue with the iPad is not the hardware, but the software. As long as the smallest iPad and the maxed out iPad Pro share the same crippled iPad OS, it doesn‘t really matter what you choose. You still can‘t replace a laptop.
I'm looking at upgrading from the iPad to an iPad AIr (M2). My current iPad is on five months old. It has a significant software problem (maybe hardware too) in that it consistantly disconnects FaceTime. I use FaceTime a lot with my daughter and granddaughters, so this is a HUGE issue for me. Apple is working the problem, but as of this writing, Apple does NOT have a solution. I'm hoping that the iPad Air (M2) does not have the same problem.
Do not buy any tablet with less than 256 gb of memory. Downloading media will quickly use up all the 64gb or 128gb memory in the base models of both the air and the ipad 10. I would personally buy the air because these tablets last for 7 years, so the extra money for the air is worth it if you consider that you will use it for such a long time. Don't buy the Apple keyboards, save some money and buy a 3rd party keyboard.
I agree. I know people complain about the storage on MacBooks but it’s easy to have an external storage medium connected to it but not for an iPad. It’s well worth it to go to 256 if you can afford it and don’t want to constantly have to delete apps and files with the 64gb. In fact, I’d rather have a 256gb 9th generation than a 64gb 10th.
I was about to get the air or pro because I messed up my screen on my air from 2022. I am a teacher and play games, have tons of files, pictures and streaming ing apps on it and looked at my storage and was shocked to see I’m only using 43 gb of the 64. I think people overestimate how much storage they will use.
Hey, overall great review really helpful. The one problem with this review, and with most reviews I watch, is that it doesn’t take into consideration people who want to keep their iPad for a long time. For example, I have been using my 2017 iPad Pro, for well, about six years. If I had bought the regular iPad six years ago, I would’ve had to upgrade at least a couple years ago. Again, this is something Reviewers seem to never take into account! Please consider that some people might want to get a higher and iPad so they do not have to replace it in three years.
Not all base model users will update their iPad with every new release.. actually most of them have been using theirs for years and years.. For example, I have an 2018 iPad (6th generation) and it still gets updates and works fine.. And I will only get a new iPad once this one doesn’t receive updates anymore.
I have a powerful Macbook for any intensive work: iPad is just for reading and note-taking for class, and it basically costs slightly less than half the price of an M2. Most people will not need the power of the M2.
Seeing FCPX on an iPad is CRAZY to me - granted I haven't purchased one in many years so maybe I am just behind the times....but really excited to get my new iPad Air and do some editing. How convenient!! I hope it works just the same or close to my MacBook Pro
I was debating what to buy to replace my iPad Air 2 that is finally getting slow and battery dies quickly. When I found that retail stores were putting the 64 gig iPad Air (5th gen) on sale for $400, it was a very easy choice. Plus Best Buy is giving me $110 for trade in on my iPad Air 2, so not a bad deal overall. I figure if the iPad Air 2 gave me 9 years of use with no issues, going with another Air was a no brainer.
Great video. I would add that “futureproofing” is missing though. The m2 will run amazing for years to come, will support AI features etc.. meanwhile the days of the A14are counted.
I feel like the iPad 10 only now is a viable option because it is finally below the price of a refurb Air 4 from Apple (they come with fresh batteries unlike other refurbs). The Air 4 is still superior in every way but is now $50 more expensive and also not often available on Apple’s site. iPad 10 is a good deal finally.
I am purchasing the iPad Pro 11 256GB. I traded in my iPad Pro 11 M2 and received a $470 credit. I purchased with college discount at $899. Initial payment was $85 and $35 for 12 months no interest on Applecard.
My wife uses the iPad for UA-cam and web browsing. 64 gigs is too small at this point, especially if her Air 3 lasted 5 years and is almost full. Do we get the $499 256 gb iPad or the $599 128 gb Air? I’m leaning towards the cheaper iPad unless someone has a good reason otherwise.
I would go with the regular iPad with that use case. I would only suggest the iPad Air if you planned to play games or do any more demanding activities like video editing
I’m really mad because I use iPads for procreate and dreams specifically and the 12.9 pro I JUST bought is already marked obsolete for the new pencil (the only new product I actually wanted) so now I have to figure out if the new air is better or if I need to spend the same money I just spent to get the new pro
@@GregsGadgets grabbed it march of last year, which funnily enough the same thing happened THAT year when I bought a prior iPad Pro, then was told that the m2 version would work with the new Apple Pencil function, so I grabbed it right then, silly me 🫣
Great review. I bought the iPad Air 13 as a gift based on the larger screen someone needed. It was the best option/features without the Pro's price point.
Someone said screen size doesn’t make a huge difference cause a lot of videos have the black bars on the top and bottom.. and the shape of the iPad just causes the bars to be larger instead of the actual picture. do you think that’s true?
Couldn’t agree more. The iPad 10th gen at £379 (uk) is an absolute bargain and for the majority will give you the iPad experience you need. At that price it’s even cheaper than a Samsung S9 FE.
I just bought an iPad $329 and loving it ! Yes, it’s not laminated and doesn’t support the Apple Pencil 2, but those don’t bother me. The A-14 chip is very fast ! What I don’t love is paying $600 for a tablet 😎👍
The Air should’ve had Face ID this year… if they’re gonna charge more for Pros and bulk up the Air close to spec of older Pro models, Face ID makes so much sense to have.
I appreciate you giving iPad 10 a fair assessment. I got one recently, and I have been loving it. I have an M2 Pro MBP so I don't need power in my iPad. My favorite thing about iPad is not connecting it to iMessage or installing social media apps. I use it just for media consumption and notes at school and it is great for those things. I have an M2 Pro MBP, so I don't need a lot of horsepower on my iPad. Also, the USB C Apple Pencil gets a bad rep but...as a former 10.5" iPad Pro/Apple Pencil 1 user, I have to say that the new Apple Pencil standard model is all I need. It's also nice to be able to magnetically clip it to the side just like the more expensive models. I got mine on Amazon for $349, and that price point feels like a steal for this device. It's less than I paid for my OG iPad in 2011. Speaking of that iPad, the OG iPad and the iPad 10 have lots of physical similarities with their boxiness and overall design. Very cool.
@@tonycheng4987 Mostly, yes, but sometimes it's a limitation. I wanted to try Genshin Impact but couldn't do it on that iPad unless I cleared a lot of stuff out. It's one of those things where I knew that it would be a limitation going in, so I'm not too upset with it. Reading, media consumption, and some games are ok! I just delete games I'm no longer playing
So I went to Apple shop. Looked at both. Bought the iPad 10. Tried it at home and took it back. Decided I love the size so going to trade in my mini for iPad Air 11. I love the mini but after using the 11 for few mins was hooked.
As a current college student- I really, really enjoyed my transition over from paper and pen hand-written notes to digital hand written notes. I currently use the 2nd gen Apple Pencil between my Air 4 (or 5 I can’t remember it was the gen with the green instead of purple additions) and my 11” pro. My air is no longer usable and my 11” pro is still good. However, admittedly I have a love/hate relationship with the 2nd Apple Pencil cuz of the tap feature. I keep tapping- double, triple or quadruple tapping it cuz my brain goes haywire. If my current iPad blew up right now, I’m not sure which IPad I would choose. The regular 10.9” absolutely can do the job and do it well. However I would love more real estate to write, but that’s even more money. Hmmm
Hi Greg, your pace and enunciation is excellent. The analysis of the two iPads was very good. It helped me decide which I will buy, and why! Keep up the good work. Roger of Orlando
I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 512gb. I use it to make videos using iMovie. It works fine except it's increasingly hard for me to see (I'm 72 yrs old). Would the iPad 10 work for me? I don't want to spend so much on the iPad Air. I see the iPad 10 only comes with 256 as the highest. Do you think that would work for me? BTW, even though I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie, I prefer to use my phone as it is simpler to make videos and has enough bells and whistles for my videos. I guess I want an iPad that is at least the equivalent of my iPhone. but without cellular. I sure would appreciate your opinion. I really enjoyed your video! Thanks for the clear comparison!

For me, the only real advantage the new air has is, future proofing . I don’t want to buy a new iPad every year or two. So, the air should be current or adequate longer.
My son still use my old Air 2 (from 2014). For streaming and browsing it is good in nowdays too.
@@PerillustrisYes, my nephews and brothers still use the air 2 to this day.
I myself still use an air 2. I want a samsung tablet but waiting, however some apps are not working since they need a better ios
You just cant update the apps but its still useable.
My IPad Air 5th gen’s logic board has failed. Took it to Genius Bar yesterday and it is now basically an expensive brick. Just over 2 years old. According to the Genius Bar tech it’s my fault for not taking out a 5 year guarantee.
in other words, ipad air if you create onlyfans content. regular ipad if you just like to watch.
I… what
😂
You pretty much summerised the whole vid in 2 sentences lol
mans speaking facts like me get the air
Ha! Great summary.
Another point for iPad is Air better futureproofing with an overpowered M2 chip, needed for future software updates that the base iPad can't do.
Almost the same. These are actually the two best iPads on the market in terms of battery life.
I use iPad only for Netflix and occasional web browsing. The regular iPad is more than enough for me.
I bought my iPad 10th gen just last March and I use it as my main computer. After constant deliberation between an iPad Air M1, I’ve settled for the iPad 10 only because:
This is my dilemma. i don’t think i actually NEED an air and the 10th will do what i need
How about the gen 1 pen?
@@PuteraIrfan USB-C Apple Pencil is sufficient for me. Don’t get the Gen 1 pen.
This is the one I was looking at before these new ones came out.
Same
@@startsomewhere1 They have it listed on Amazon right now for $399.99.
Yes, I got the air 5 for my nephews shortly the 6th came out and they love it.
I have the iPad 10th generation. It works for my daily use. I do normal every day activities, plus it was a $100 off of list price.
For watching TV shows you can get a big TV set for the price of an iPad.
or 3 stadard 10inch tablets :) with 64gb memory the same quality screnn :/
I have both iPad Pro M4 and iPad 10th gen. There is no point in getting the iPad Air if you're just web browsing and watching movies/youtube. Regular iPad will work just fine.
Appreciate you putting this comparison video together. The differences in USB-C ports and M-chip specific applications/games was something I did NOT pick up just from reading the specs on the Apple website. Kind of BS that Apple thought this was not essential information?!😡
Glad you found it helpful, and yeah these are really big things that can alter the experience.
They were on the website, just search compare iPads and select which iPads you want to compare
Basically if you’re someone who wants an iPad because you live on your phone for scrolling through socials and watching/streaming shows but want to do it on something bigger and not kill your iPhone then buy an iPad, it’s cheaper and it’s great for that.
Agree with this 😊
Watching this on my very, very capable ninth generation iPad which goes for $250.
Still great iPad
Honestly the 9th Gen is the last of apples old design. Love my 9th Gen. Use it as a family iPad in the house
Got the Ipad 9 also, no reason to upgrade. Use it as the tv in my bedroom and to play simple games.
have the 9th gen as well, the 64gb is a bit of a bummer but i only really use it for school and entertainment so there's barely anything in it (and i also have a 256gb macbook and 128gb phone so it's fine lol)
Apple Event next year
Apple “Now we introduce you the new IPad Air with the M4 chip, better performance, new olded lights, new colors, better cpu “ 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Very helpful, thanks. I go for the iPad and a Mac for more demanding task.
Good choice!
What are your thoughts on buying a refurbished M1 iPad Air w/256 gb over the new M2 with 128gb.
It's easier to fool someone than to convince them that they were fooled.
So if I'm editing movies for redtube I should get the M2 iPad Air but if I'm just kicking back on the bus commuting to work watching redtub I should get the regular iPad? Is that correct?
Bro said redtube😭
😂
I have the regular iPad 10 gen, it does everything that I need it for extremely well, so I don’t see any need for the air or the pro, not for what I am using it for.
I went with the air for hopefully longevity. So far I’m loving it
Same.
Please do iPad Pro m2 vs IPad Air M2!!!
🤔
120HZ refresh rate display, that’s the only difference that the M2 iPad Pro has over the iPad Air with M2.
Plus the M2 Pro has face id, better mic & speakers, ultra wide& TrueDepth camera and Thunderbolt/Usb 4support…
just get the m2 pro if u can find it for around the same price lol, it's better. Otherwise just get the Air.
@@Prxavi and by 12.9 models MiniLed makes a big difference
The biggest question is how long will the 2018 iPad Pro be supported as I’m not upgrading to a new Air or Pro.
Third option: I've got my eye out for sale prices on the iPad Air 5.
Not a bad idea at all.
Don't know about the US, but here in the UK it's easy to find sealed, brand new iPad Air models on eBay. I wouldn't say they are much cheaper, but it may make sense if someone wants the M1 in blue as it's blue seems a bit darker. :)
The air 5 is mush better! It’s compatible with Apple Pencil 2, PRO, and USBC. Also compatible with both keyboards. Unlike the air 6, such a downgrade
@@GregsGadgets They're on sale at Walmart for $399US. Mine is in the mail.
Such a thoughtful and articulate video. Great discussion and comparison on the two models.
I got my iPad 10 last night upgrading/rade in 9gen…I love it! I got the usb pencil…thanks for this video! I love it
how much did you pay for it??
I work in a factory and use my ipad for sketching a lot of piping and electrical drawings on the field, The usual spot i have to draw at doesn't have internet or 4G/5g so i have cant acces the cloud very easy when i need certain documents or drawings on the spot,
some might just not have or want multiple devices
I went with the pro. Decided to treat myself since I upgraded my kids iPads this year. Now I can finally enjoy an iPad myself.
I was actually thinking of the same with iPad pro M2 and new Air but the lack of pro motion display didn’t cut it.
On Ipad 9, agree, not upgrading until software support ends.
never quite understood the case for the Air. for me, it is either going cheap or go pro. used, if budget is a concern.
Thanks for this great compassion guide. Air6 is definitely an artists dream and will make digiral art and video edits exciting to do. I cant wait to get mine...plus its my first ipad and step into the apple ecosystem.
same!!! first ipad to spend my student savings for. ‘bout to be broke again hahahahah
Wouldn’t be a 2022 11“ M2 iPad Pro the better option?
Depends on the individual kind of use
Definitely, I'm thinking the same thing as it has dual rear cameras (wide and ultrawide)
Small correction here, Logic Pro does run on the iPad 10th Gen, not only on iPads with M series chips.
Thank you! I decided to get the Air for my 8-year-old.
You did not talk about battery life of each iPad
How long with one full charge it works
One thing i would be most worried about buying an iPad without air ore pro would be the time of software support.
They all have the same time… 6 years
@@karlleiserbach1411right
@@Mr.J_2003 but the iPad 10th was released in 2022 right? So it only has 4 years left? Or am I misunderstanding
I have, and love, a 256Gb M1 iPad Air. I’m waiting for WWDC to see if there are iPod OS upgrades coming to justify an upgrade..
Other than that it’s pretty good
Do you find 64gb tends to be insufficient sometime? Do you recommend more storage?
Yes. I would recommend the iPad and not any other models in 2024.
Best Buy sold iPad Air M1 for $399 on Sunday. And I missed it.
Very garbage
Walmart has the price right now
Amazon has that right now
Knowing new iPads were coming out, I still opted to buy a 9th gen with 256GB of storage.
I would have liked a 128 iPad 10 at least
especially the way iPads manage storage (can't clear cache)
Thanks. Good info. I purchased the 11” M2 Air. I am deep into Logic Pro
how's it? would you recommend it to someone who does digital arts?
If i buy ipad air 2024 how long it will be supported with software updates by apple?
Thanks for the video - you heled me lean toward the less expensive iPad. I'm using a 6 or 7 year old iPad Pro and I can barely browse the web to view recipes on blogs because it can't handle the load. I'd like to future-proof my purchase and get more than I need, and am stuck on iPad 10th gen vs iPad Air. Decisions decisions.
Air is not a good product in the lineup. Basically just upcharge options you can’t do on regular iPad.
The Apple Pencil compatibility is worth it to me.
Thanks for the great comparison video! I was unsure of the more subtle differences between the two.
i have an ipad 6th gen, and wanted to upgrade to a ipad pro for the bigger screen for the past few years, but now that the Air has a big screen version, for cheaper than the pro, its definitely the one i want to get to upgrade. im an artist, and screen size is very important for how much side panels i can have open when drawing. and the new pencil will be nice, especially the barrel roll feature, because i do use shapely paint brushes that need all the control i can get
Procreate on my little 9th gen is torture 💀 I think the m2 air will do just fine
@@JJ_Magnificent hope I can afford it sometime this year. Then I won't have to think about iPads for a while, as I doubt they will release another update like this anytime soon
Air 5 or honor magic pad 2, What do you prefer they are the same price ❤
As someone planning on buying an iPad with music production as the main focus, I was leaning towards the 10th gen. I had no idea that Logic won't run on the A14 chip and that is an absolute deal breaker for me. Thank you so much for your detailed and concise comparison and for saving me from a huge disappointment!
It does run logic pro as I bought one yesterday and I have logic pro on it lool and it's even on the Apple store online it tells you that the iPad 19th gen works with logic it's on the product page
So glad you made this video because I was thinking about buying the Air…
The Air is stil a better machine.
is it just me or does the base model with yellow colour looks Dope
It reminds me of the first gold iPhone when it was really yellow looking and the rose gold was literally pink
This. They need to spin the Pro out to the Mac team. Kill the iPad Pro and make a new MacBook Touch.
It’s crazy
@@leandrowngo I would love to have a MacBook Touch.
Who’s says it’s “crippled?”

They are on equal ground
Why would you have to upgrade after a shorter time? What features were missing?
@@brachiator1 it just basically doesnt perform very well and it might also be a storage problem
I have the 9th gen Ipad, still gets updates....Don't know what you are talking about with having to replace a basic Ipad in 3 years.
Not all base model users will update their iPad with every new release.. actually most of them have been using theirs for years and years.. For example, I have an 2018 iPad (6th generation) and it still gets updates and works fine.. And I will only get a new iPad once this one doesn’t receive updates anymore.
@@heartlanddreamer95 Do iPads get 7 years of updates?
I have a powerful Macbook for any intensive work: iPad is just for reading and note-taking for class, and it basically costs slightly less than half the price of an M2. Most people will not need the power of the M2.
Pencil support is the dealbreaker for me. That and my want to move to the 13 inch screen now :)
Practical, straightforward, and concise. Thanks man, killer review🤙🏽
I’m thinking about getting the iPad Air 11 for school work and taking notes using the pencil. Is that a good idea?
Damn that sucks, how long ago did you buy the iPad? There might be a chance you can return it if you bought it somewhat recently
Thanks for the video. I’m getting the iPad 10th. You sold me. I’m a casual user.
I just bought the 64gb iPad 10th Gen for $300. Even a better deal than 3 months ago. Happy with it.

Great video I was wondering if you could explain what wifi + cellular is just trying to find one to take to meto phone to hook up
The Air should’ve had Face ID this year… if they’re gonna charge more for Pros and bulk up the Air close to spec of older Pro models, Face ID makes so much sense to have.
Agreed 💯
Very cool.
is 64gb enough?
Good rationales. Was going gen ten but might now go Air 11.
Thank you for clearing that up
As a current college student- I really, really enjoyed my transition over from paper and pen hand-written notes to digital hand written notes.
Hmmm
Do you think bigger screen will enhance your overall note taking experience? I’m torn between 10th gen 64gb and m1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch 128gb.
what about m2 air vs older m2 pro?
