    Astonishing work. I hope these skills are being passed on to young people and not lost. I'm amazed that someone can decide to build a car and then actually do it! Bravo!

    You’re bloody nimble on the tin shears & forming that rad bracket!
    What happened re track rod end & steering arm? How did you resolve that?

    Thanks for sharing your journey. I'm very pleased to have come across your video as Im building a replica C type, this has given me more motivation. You're a very talented craftsman. Have you still got the car? G

    This is brilliant seeing what can be done at home, fabulous job! Did you transfer the age related number plate later, or did the DVLA issue you one???

      I'll check with my dad (Ian), but pretty sure it was transferred from an original E-Type, which in turn was issued with a new age-related plate.

    This is a brilliant video of a brilliant builder. Who made the chassis and the fibreglass body bits? Is this kit available?

    • @iancowan7773
      @iancowan7773 7 років тому +2

      The chassis and GRP body shell were supplied by Realm Engineering run by Adrian Cocking ( originally known as Ram Engineering , well known for their replica D Type for which there was, I believe ,a signer marque race series )
      The XKSS was logical step for them and a number were sold . Unfortunately , the parts are no longer available for the car I built , although there may be other companies still offering seriously expensive alloy bodied versions . The IVA test is becoming more demanding which may be a factor . I have just rebuilt the engine on my car , and resprayed the shell and had the chrome re-done and are looking forward to some motoring this summer .

      Thanks for your reply, Ian. I met Adrian Cocking at his workshop in Honeybourne 12 or 15 years ago. I thought your kit might be from Realm. Sorry to learn that he is not offering the XKSS any longer. I believe Richard Noble owns one as well.

    Great video, how long did the entire project take to painted finish?

    • @alistaircowan7314
      @alistaircowan7314  7 років тому +1

      My dad says, working flat out, that he completed it in about 2 years.

      thats an incredible fast pace....I guess he must be retired?

    • @alistaircowan7314
      @alistaircowan7314  7 років тому +1

      Yes, definitely retired... though he's always built cars - as long as I can remember .
