One of the most underrated yt-car-channel ever. So well explained. With passion and love for even the smallest detail! Only preffesionals are working on these treasures on 4 wheels. RESPECT! I love it
I agree with that... Saying that it's "better than new/better than when it came out of the factory" insinuates that they're better than the people who built it in the first place... Frankly, they're not... They want to restore it? Fine, just don't overdo it and don't ever say that "it's better than new..."
Wow you guys really are the only people in the world that can do work like that the detail and absolute respect that you put in to restoreing a car is unbelievable and thankyou for sharing it with us all that only dream off cars like you work on thanks guys
Fantastic description and wonderful knowledge . I "think " l actually met this icon in 1973 . I volunteered to spend 2 weeks unpaid to train to learn the true art of panel beating . My tutor "Charlie "was very encouraging , sadly the boss only wanted me to make fuel tanks ......not for me ! The shop ceased trading but was based in Newton Abbot. Whoever was still using "gravity feed " guns and applying the paint in an "arc " fashion should be shot at dawn for 6 montns ! The golden rule of spraying is , keep the gun parallel to the work piece !!! Arrragh !!!!!!!!! Many thanks .
I am blown away. Restoration of the year! Thanks for sharing.
I’d love to see a complete restoration video of this. Such an important car.
Congratulations, James! Just saw the Goodwood channel video of the Moss Trophy race and a great drive!
Such passion . The pinnacle of British Engineering, Feels Proud.

Beautiful and as it should be. Every time I see a rare vehicle "restored" and described as "better than new" I cringe at the vandalism.

The D-type looks so good, my favorite.
Excellent, nice to see it won't be over-restored. This car was raced in Rhodesia in the late 50's, driven by John Love.
Great preservation work. Love it.
Great video and a fabulous job of the restoration. I love it that you’ve even used a vintage Devilbiss gun to paint it! That’s OTT cool 😎👍

They were never made to this standard when new. It is totally wrong to over restore these cars.
The metal work is so exceptional...it is a shame that it is going to be painted! I could stare at the bare aluminum body all day! A true work of art!
Love this channel 👌
Such an incredibly beautiful car and start to the restoration. I am so eager to see it completed.
Fantastic to see another of he cars driven by Ken Wharton survives. I have a collection of his original rally plates.
Beautiful
incredible skills congratulations
Brilliant video as always 👏👏👏.
What a unicorn !!!!🇦🇺
Great job. Respectfully restored.
What kind of primer and paint will be used? I image it was nitro-cellulose lacquer originally and some like 13 coats of paint?
Cream, nice job chaps.

Amazing.
You cannot fault the quality of the work. But original cars can’t be over restored.
Glorious British engineering *
Like they say in Provence, you find the real beauty in the imperfections
Highly sensitive apart from completely stripping off all the paint and re-finishing everything :=)))
Engineering becomes...... Art and form*
My favorite d type is rru1
