    ...gave me goosebumps and it's 40°C today. I rebuilt a '54 XK120 in 1963, body off, complete engine rebuild and so on. I was 18 years old. Jaguar has been in my blood ever since (I'm now 70+). These videos are priceless. Thank you so much.

    If making 'ads' for auctions gets your channel access to stunning cars to film such as this one then I hope for more of them.
    Another great car, another great free video to watch.

      +ginge82 Yeah I don't see anything wrong with it, Chris Harris, Evo and other magazines have done it, often times these auction cars are the best possible example anyway.

    I've Been Diapered in Old Jags learned how to work on was 14 years old my father taught me as he was Accomplished Jag Mechanic he had 54XK120m 62XK150s 63Etype. The Beauty of those Engines along Mechanical and Exhaust Sound is Mind Blowing so Unique as a Master Mechanic Im Truly Blessed to Experience Jaguars Masterpieces Intoxicating Enjoyment to Drive. Nothing like Old Jaguars XK DOHC 6 cylinders Engines are Legendary. Visual Beauty Old Jaguars and Exhaust Sound You'll never Forget. I can tune those Engines practically blindfolded.

    I love how the older cars give you so much information as you drive them. Manufacturers are now taking away that information by making everything digital and or drive by wire, brake by wire and, steer by wire. What a pity the newer generation will never experience what that feels like.

    • @naughtmoses
      @naughtmoses 4 роки тому +4

      Couldn't agree more. Dumped a teardrop 300ZX in favor of a new Camaro RS years ago. The Nissan was a techno-marvel at the time but NO fun to drive. The Chevy is (still) a 200-horsepower go-cart with =road sense=.

    David Swig makes no mention of the man who designed a new body for the 120 to make the C type, Malcom Sayor. His gorgeous new body work was worth an extra 25 mph at Le Mans with the same drive-train. Sayor famously went on to design the D, E & XJS.

  • @kennethj1956
    @kennethj1956 9 років тому +9

    I loved the shape of the "C" type so much; in 1993 I started tooling up a body to make a "Kit Car" version of this lovely automobile.
    I got cold feet when there didn't seem to be much interest from buyers; everyone wanted a Cobra replica at the time.

    • @Kolinu2
      @Kolinu2 9 років тому +5

      Mr. Johnson The good news is other people have taken all the risk and there are some excellent replicas to be bought these days. With only 53 original 'C' types being made, the high-end replicas are expensive but they are real quality and a lot less money than buying an original. :)

    Had a friend, Pappy Syler who drove his C-type to races, unloaded his spares and jack, raced it, then drove it home to dinner returning for Sunday's races. Nelson Ledges Race Course near Warren, Ohio in the late 1960's was the scene of Pappy's green C-Thpe's success. Pappy was still doing track days at Nelson, in a Mitsubshi EVO at age 87 a few years ago. My Hero!

    LOVED the C-type. Watched the great Stirling Moss drive this car (or a near twin to it) at the very first Palm Springs Vintage Grand Prix in (I believe) 1987. Shot a photo of him and two-time Indy winner Rodger Ward chewing the fat in the pits. Now blessed to own a 2003 Type-S saloon with the very same grille.

    From Matthew Sneddon
    In the April 1960 copy of 'Motor Sport' the London motor dealer 'The Chequered Flag' had two Jaguar C types for sale. One ex Ecurie Ecosse with D type modifications finished in BRG with Webers + weather equipment at £965 also other C Type in Italian red at £845. What prices !! I wonder if the C type featured was one of those.

    One wonders if these sequences are the last time in a long time that this car is driven in such a spirited manner. Regardless of the Sotherby's plug it is a sublime sound and vision experience. The best Petrolicious vid in some time.

    Following "WittyDroog's" comments, I also sold some really nice automobiles a few years ago, starting my sales experience in a Ferrari dealership. Just because I wasn't able to own such a car didn't diminish the fact that I studied and followed European racing while I attended school in Germany through the early '60s, thanks to my fathers German assignment in the US Army. When the opportunity arrived to work in the midst of some phenomenal automotive artwork and actually have someone toss the keys to me to get acquainted with the product I was to sell, I was nearly overwhelmed!! Just the fact that the commentator doesn't happen to be the owner, doesn't necessarily diminish his (or her) appreciation of the privilege of driving this car! I may not have had the financial investment in the vehicle, but I most certainly had the appreciation and the emotional investment in a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the likes of Ferrari 330LMB, a Ferrari BB512 or a Ferrari 512TR or even the more common 308s and 348s. An average car enthusiast such as I doesn't get that kind of opportunity where I came from...

      @eSysman - British please note in American Webster's dictionary it is pronounced 2 ways (correctly) American - Jag-war, British - Jag-u-ar. Both are correct pronunciations. That's true for the Oxford dictionary pronunciations too! Stop trying to convince the rest of the world that the British pronunciation is the only correct one.

    I love Petrolicious because the focus is normally on the emotion and passion a car brings to it's owner. It's not just about the car.That passion is something every car lover connects to even if the car is one of those rare ones you will never own. This video (although good attempt) does not reach that level for me.
