The way your dad said ‘yeah’ about hitting that ditch with some gusto made me die. His heart said YES but his brain was like DONT MESS UP THE TRUCK. Hilarious.
After 15 years I still have my 2005 Power Wagon and it runs and drives just as good as the day I bought it new. 128000 miles on it now and, we tow, haul, play and the truck has always been solid no issues with it. I do really like the new ones, and wish I had the 6.4 in mine (at the time the 5.7 was the only engine option) but I plan on keeping it as long as I possibly can, it has been a fantastic truck. Love the videos thanks for all the reviews.

I just purchased a 2020 Power Wagon a couple of weeks ago, but I still clicked to watch your video when it popped up in my video feed. I really enjoyed your review and I’m embarrassed to admit I learned something new...where the Warn controller connector moved to! Yep, the low payload is a bummer, but we have just enough to tow our Airstream and I used those locking diffs just this morning to pull it out of our snowy spot in Montana. This is my second PW and I love it even more than the last. Cheers!
To me, the front/rear locking diffs is what makes me want this truck. I get the payload/towing deal, but to spend over $60,000 for a truck with subpar offroading capabilities that will leave you stuck with a tire spinning in the air would drive me nuts. You made the right choice. Enjoy going places where others struggle
put rear air bags on the rear for towing you have all your payload and more. dump them to 5 psi unloaded and your progressive rate springs go right back to work as they were designed. I have a 2020 PW myself in that new olive green metallic i love my truck don't really miss the diesel at all .
@@Barefoot-Bob Airbags are definitely indispensable on those truck, in my opinion. I ran Firestones with Daystar cradles on my first PW, but I've put on Airlift with the same Daystar cradles on this one. I love being able to set the pressure from outside the truck with an app on my phone!

I just Ordered a 2022 Power Wagon and I can’t Wait!!!! 👍🏻 and the Reason Dodge isn’t offering a Cummins Diesel in the PW is that the Diesel would add another 1,000 Pounds and We all know the PW is already Heavy at 8,500+ Pounds… But if U need a Diesel U can get a 2500 Prospector with a Cummins and about a extra $15,000…🤷🏻♂️ And Yes the Vertical Power Wagon Banner just aft the Cab on the Bed was used in the 1980 Power Wagon…👍🏻
This channel is the best one! Is so nice when you guys show the speed and the weight in Kilometers an Kilos! I’m from Brazil and this turn it so much easier!👏🏻👏🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Your Dad's correct.. My brother's red 1976 Power Wagon had a black vertical Power Wagon decal on it. It was a beast. He pulled a 24 foot loaded Uhaul truck, sunk in mud to its axle, out of a neighbor's yard, without any problems.. I don't know what size engine it had, but it got the job done. You would think RAM would put a Diesel in them, since they're called a, POWER WAGON.. They should have GOBS OF POWER..
Best review I've seen, I own a 21 powerwagon that looks identical to this one minus the sunroof. It doesn't exceed in any one area when you measure a truck, but hands down is the best all around truck. Kinda like a jack of all trades, master of none. Wouldn't trade it for nothing

The decal package was offered on the 1980 dodge macho wagon . I have owned a few and they had the decal on the box as well as black bumpers. They also came with a factory roll bar in the box . Cheers from Saskatchewan.
I have a 2012 5.7, took it on the same day, had the under body coated, no rust, used it on the Hwy in the north during winter, out mud dogging, no regrets, best investment in the long run
I figure the back springs would have been softer than that with 1k in the back. You figure she could do maybe 2x as much payload in practical terms? Your pops btw is an excellent reviewer too. You both have a clear, concise style that keeps ppl watching!
@@TruckKing the payload rating is based off those progressive rate rear springs. you throw rear airbags or even standard 2500 ram rear springs that truck will pull a normal 2500 truck payload all day. to much whooey on the payload rating. the only trade off is excellent off road capability vs you lose the diesel option that's all.

Whether it be a night on the town, Storm Chasing until the sun comes up, grocery shopping, road tripping to see the grand kids, cross country towing the Toy Hauler to grabbing bails of hay for the Burros. It does it ALL! And I feel safer in traffic, more confident that I will get there AND back on my own, and enjoy the comfort, luxury conveniences, fit, feel and build quality. Kid in me wants a TRX, every other part of me wants a 2021 75th Anniversary Edition when the time comes. The 8 spd trans and the big screen center stack are the only real wants, and perhaps a switch to one of the nice, unique color choices (green, grey, etc). Otherwise, my '18 is PERFECT.
Great episode guys, love these new powerwagons. Best decision they made was switching to the 8 speed. I know someone who has the previous gen, and the truck will definitely do more then the numbers say comfortably. Put a set of slip in bags in the rear springs and it loses alot of the squat.
I have a 1974 dodge W-100 power wagon that I drove in high school in 1979 and my son now drives it to high school 41 years later great trucks still goes off roaming better then most new trucks do I bought a 2018 Dodge ram tradesmen that has lockers front and rear with a push button where are the 74 lockers do you have to spin a tire to get them the lock but they both do great Offroad great video will continue to watch you
This is just good clean youtube entertainment and learning all rapped in a bow! I would love to see these in depth reviews of all these new truck in its own Playlist tho! Maybe call it the towing and mudding series?
Newly discovered your channel…not sure folks responded to the question about the logo…I agree it is reminiscent of the ‘80s…I first learned of the Power Wagon from the tv series, Simon and Simon…the one brother drove a Power Wagon.
I am super confident that the actual payload of the power wagon is a way higher. They are mostly trying to cover their butts since the intention of this vehicle is to go off the beaten path. Any extra weight can have a huge impact on a vehicles ability to go off-road. Great review!
It's not all about how much the chassis and springs can manage: "The SAE J2807 standards also have requirements for the braking performance of the truck-and-trailer combination at its maximum GCWR. Combos with a maximum tow rating of more than 3,000 pounds are required to stop completely from 20 mph in 80 feet or less." Think this applies to payload as well.
Love my power wagon!! Great daily driver to commute to and from work, then to play on the weekends, fishing ,hunting ,camping go where ever, whenever 😃🍻🍻🤙🏻
I have a 2016 and love my "Dragon Puke" graffics!! It sets it apart from all the other Ram trucks around!! Definitely not many in my area! (BTW, This isn't an "I'm offended" comment LOL) GREAT Job on the video!! I'm now a subscriber!!
beauty truck review love my power wagon Laramie. It will throw you around a bit more I find with the sway bar disconnected but its all part of the power wagon experience lol. Great reviews keep up the good work guys..
76 Dodge D100 with air shocks on the rear. 29 sheets of 3/4" pressed wood sheets, 75 lbs. each = 2175 lbs. This was with a 250 lb.camper shell on it. Sure glad I only had about 10 miles to go. Very light steering. LOL!!! AT the gravel pit I go get gravel, I routinely put 1500-1600 lbs. on it. Never had a problem. Good old truck and I have had it since 1978. 83K for a new Ram, don't think so! Not even for a Power Wagon.
@@seniorrider9337 air bags on the rear of the power wagon it will pull the same amount as your 76 all day , only faster and better fuel mileage and without blowing out your full time 4x4 front wheel bearings . which was a notorious problem with that era truck ( I have owned 5 of them )
@@Barefoot-Bob Well, I would hope so. A D100 is two wheel drive, so I have no full time 4 X 4 wheel bearings. I was not pulling a trailer, the sheets of press board were in the bed of the truck. Load plus camper shell added up to about 2400 pounds. Not something I would want to do again. Probably not too smart to do it anytime. Not sure what point you are trying to make here. I would never load my old truck with 2000 pounds on a regular basis or drive it that way for long distances. The new trucks SHOULD out perform an old 76. They sure are expensive enough. Would love to have a new truck, but 70 to 80 thousand dollars for a truck to be used as a truck is just financially crazy for me, and my truck mostly sits in the car port these days anyway. Most of the new heavy duty trucks I see are not used much as a work truck but rather as a status symbol of some kind. I used my truck as a truck, not a symbol of what I can afford.
I love this Canadian tbh he know how to do review thank you for the content my brother and thanks for doing it a review of the power wagon I own and I not regret the only problem is the 0-60 but I’m thinking to buy just a hellcat engine from mopar and do a swap
Owned 2 Tacoma trucks, 2 f150s, 2 rams. 3 tundras, and 1 frontier in last 9 years. and the power wagon is so much better.. except gas prices.. it’s amazing!
Heck yes he does! He's the OG Truck King and I'm so glad to be doing videos together now. The man knows his trucks and truck history. Appreciate your support!
I'm pretty sure those graphics were used in the mid 70s. An orange POWER WAGON cruised town flying those colors. I myself now one a 2016 PW with the DRAGOON PUKE graphics. Red puke on white and it is a beautiful truck. Not to mention a totally bad ass truck. I live at 7,000 ft in the Wyoming rockies so what a capable truck is and this is one.
In this video and in a few others iv heard that this truck shouldn't have any problem towing 10,000lbs but no one actually has a video of it.. would love to see this towing something heavier.
I would have thought the Powerwagen would be better off roading then the F250 tremor. Although I had to move around 6 camping trails weighting in at 3500 to 10000 lbs and was in Rougher mud and water then the ditch crossing the ram had issues crossing, the tremor had no issues pushing the campers around. Great video and confirms the tremor was the way to go.
This truck is made for people weighing under 180 lbs😁😁 I love my Ram it does everything I needed to do.tows a bobcat, haul anything with it, no complaints here. Best truck I've ever owned, got tired of the diesel life
Rick and A. J. of the TV show Simon and Simon were brothers and private detectives. The show was on from 1981 to 1989 and Rick drove a Power Wagon with the similar PW band on the truck.
So although you say the PW isn’t a great choice for off-roading “only”, what would you recommend when this is the only choice with solid front axle, disc fr sway bar, and lockers fr and rear? All the 1/2-ton options are IFS, no front lockers or sway bar disc.
I love my 2018 Power Wagon. I am not a sport off-roader or overlander but I do use the full capabilities of my truck year round whether staging dirt bikes in remote locations, hauling firewood down or rugged forest paths, winching logs, towing my 26' toy hauler, dump trailer, or tractor etc I haven't felt limited in anyway by this truck. Since new, I installed Airlift suspension air bags on my rear axle and inflate 30-50PSI only when hauling. Towing stability, braking, power, torque, always feel strong and capable. No question about it, this is a heavy duty truck. It's night and day to any half-ton I've owned or driven. The PW is not fuel efficient but when I alter the way I drive I can achieve dramatically different fuel economy. I choose secondary roads when its an option. Driving smoothly between 70-85 KPH unloaded with my 6-speed transmission, I can easily achieve 14- 14.5 L/100. If you're in a hurry, highway driving at 110 will generally be around 17 L/100. Fully loaded and balanced with light wind, towing on the highway, expect 20-22 L/100. (In my experience, that's fairly average tow mileage for a gas truck)
Love the channel. Keep the videos coming. With the 7000lbs trailer and the two of you in the truck, aren’t you over the payload rating? I think the Power Wagon is one of the best looking trucks on the market, but with such a low payload rating, it’s not a very useful HD truck.
Just bought a 2019 PW, low mileage. Never owned a truck before and learn things everyday. If only I knew of some good off roading places around me. I bought it to pull a travel trailer,. I hardly even know it is back there. Amazing truck. I do not understand the GEAR LIMIT switching really though. Nothing online seems to explain it very well for me. Anyone?
Do me a favor and hug your dad for me. He seems like an amazing father. Cherish the time you have together.

Combos with a maximum tow rating of more than 3,000 pounds are required to stop completely from 20 mph in 80 feet or less." Think this applies to payload as well.
I was a young kid but loved Rick Simon and his Power Wagon! Had the same badging. Was called the Macho edition or something like that...Loved it.
Love your vids Truck King. Love your energy and style. Keep it up. Great reviews.
Thanks! Will do!
Love my power wagon!! Great daily driver to commute to and from work, then to play on the weekends, fishing ,hunting ,camping go where ever, whenever 😃🍻🍻🤙🏻
Love this truck channel and the variety you provide with your straight froward reviews!
Can’t wait to see this channel grow. Great reviews as always and passionate about trucks.
I love that blue color. Beautiful truck 😍
Ram boxes with the power outlet is a must! Love that.
I have a 2016 and love my "Dragon Puke" graffics!! It sets it apart from all the other Ram trucks around!! Definitely not many in my area! (BTW, This isn't an "I'm offended" comment LOL) GREAT Job on the video!! I'm now a subscriber!!
That 'RAM looks amazing going down the road! Sweet!!! Looking at RAM for sure.
I so love your videos, Tests and Enthusiasm
Glad you like them!
Hey Steve, you and your dad are really putting out some great videos. Really enjoyed this one on the Power Wagon. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
You are very good wth your thorough and informative testing
Awesome!!! I just bought a silver one and I love it !!! Keep up the good work man best reviews out there if you ask me!
Great review , the blue Jay t shirt matches the truck 👌🏽👌🏽
beauty truck review love my power wagon Laramie. It will throw you around a bit more I find with the sway bar disconnected but its all part of the power wagon experience lol. Great reviews keep up the good work guys..
Great review. Garbage truck. Now that the winter is here, looking forward to you guys taking all those trucks through snow trails.
that payload is insane!
Wow thanks for hammering that home.
Sheesh!
(i currently drive f150 loaded with tool boxes)
Factory recommend payload on the PW is hilarious. I've done 2000 pounds skids of shingles in my bed no issue... It actually drove smoother lol
No more TFL?
@@seniorrider9337 so you are comparing a 2 wheel drive to a 4 wheel drive ? not really understanding the correlation but ok
I love how Dad was ready to nail that ditch Lol
Your dad has a lot of good toys, Cool!
Yeah I like equipment, more reliable than my sons. ;) Looking for a Case 580 backhoe next.
I really love that new dark green color that the Power Wagon will be available in.
Love my Power Wagon, lifted, 37s with black rims.
You guys are awesome! Thankyou!
Yes that strip is a tip of the hat to the power wagons of old. late 1970's into the 80's
Damn it!! I love this truck!!!! I will own a Power wagon someday.
Great job ! You always take the trucks to their limits
I fell off with the payload but your videos are very informative.
I love this Canadian tbh he know how to do review thank you for the content my brother and thanks for doing it a review of the power wagon I own and I not regret the only problem is the 0-60 but I’m thinking to buy just a hellcat engine from mopar and do a swap
God, what beautiful land you guys have up there
Owned 2 Tacoma trucks, 2 f150s, 2 rams. 3 tundras, and 1 frontier in last 9 years. and the power wagon is so much better.. except gas prices.. it’s amazing!
Oh, and Steve. I love you man. But your dad makes it that much more awesome
Heck yes he does! He's the OG Truck King and I'm so glad to be doing videos together now. The man knows his trucks and truck history. Appreciate your support!
@@TruckKing his no BS approach is great.
First thing I did with my 2020 ram PW was gears, rcv shafts, and put some 17inch beadlock methods paired with 40 inch general grabber x3s.
The 78 power wagon used a similar decal at the front of the bed
Still my dream truck !!!!!!
Really like the Ram Power Wagon edition!
In this video and in a few others iv heard that this truck shouldn't have any problem towing 10,000lbs but no one actually has a video of it.. would love to see this towing something heavier.
Great review, would love to see you guys do the gladiator rubicon ecodiesel in the same style!
When we get one, we will.
It is lol wth?
Disconnecting sway bar. ...front and rear diffs...it's not even close. The bend is crazy a tremor isn't touching spots PW can go
This truck is made for people weighing under 180 lbs😁😁 I love my Ram it does everything I needed to do.tows a bobcat, haul anything with it, no complaints here. Best truck I've ever owned, got tired of the diesel life
Don't see slot of those here but I would definitely love one! Great video steven
Love your channel
Autumn in Ontario is so beautiful 😍
Rick and A. J. of the TV show Simon and Simon were brothers and private detectives. The show was on from 1981 to 1989 and Rick drove a Power Wagon with the similar PW band on the truck.
1979 model year
So although you say the PW isn’t a great choice for off-roading “only”, what would you recommend when this is the only choice with solid front axle, disc fr sway bar, and lockers fr and rear? All the 1/2-ton options are IFS, no front lockers or sway bar disc.
This is the BEST off road truck easily
Good review with good quality filming!
Thanks!
That’s great feedback 👍
Same color as mine! I threw 37's with fox shocks and leveling kit
Love the channel. Keep the videos coming. With the 7000lbs trailer and the two of you in the truck, aren’t you over the payload rating? I think the Power Wagon is one of the best looking trucks on the market, but with such a low payload rating, it’s not a very useful HD truck.
Yes we are
Just bought a 2019 PW, low mileage. Anyone?
80s TV show Simon & Simon - the older brother had a Power Wagon that I think had the vertical logo at the front of the box.
Sir! you are correct!
Awesome Review big guy 👍👍🇺🇲 The Vermonter
LOVE THE TRUCK LOVE THE VID KEEP IT UP!!!
Love my PW ! Thanks guys
