@@rickreese5794 I have no idea what you are trying to say other than you believe the big three are in financial trouble. Okay… That had nothing to do with my comment.
First of all, this was a fun video. That said, who in their right mind would be off roading (especially in Moab) an HD truck? And if you do you would go with a Tremor or a Power Wagon or whatever GMC/Chevys version of that is. And you go with a gasser not a diesel. Next, all three of these are capable and it comes down to personal preference and pocketbook. And as many have commented here, the cost of these trucks is out of control.
Hey have you guys tried to turn off esc on the rams. Holding the traction control button for ten secs while in 4 lock or 4 low. It actually locks both front and rear differentials. Love the videos guys.
The worst part of these is that manufacturers actually think ANY of these pickups is actually worth $100,000 !! That's just ridiculous any way ya look at it....
Note to TFL staff. The power wagon splits it's power 50% front 50% rear. My 03 Ram 1500 split the front 40% the rear 60% and my gear ratio is lower in the power wagon transfer case.
The GMC/Silverado are just by far the best HD pickups you can buy. That’s just a fact. Ford may be able to tow the most, and may have the most power and torque but they’re also 15-20k more expensive than the Silverado/Sierra equivalent. Honestly I don’t see how anyone would even want to buy a diesel anymore unless they have to tow 15+ tons. Which very, very, very few people do. Even to buy a diesel HD truck you have to pay between 9-13k more than the same exact truck with a gas engine in it. What do you get for that extra 9-13k? You get less payload, 9-13k poorer, and unbelievable maintenance costs. All for 1-2 tons more in towing capacity. Which when your talking about a gas 2500 truck being able to pull 17-18k lbs with ease, that extra 2-4000 lbs doesn’t seem necessary. I mean what can you tow with a diesel that you can’t with a gas? Only about 2% of trailers, campers and boats in this world are that heavy. Then you have to talk about the maintenance costs of a diesel. They’re unbelievable. It’s never really been a problem until now, because you used to just be able to delete them and not have to worry about any of those costs. But now deleting is completely illegal and come with $10,000s in fines and legal fees. The biggest continuous costs of course being diesel costs 2, 3 or sometimes even 4x more than gas does. Then you have to fill up the DEF tank at least every 3 fill ups. Then you got the replacement side of maintenance costs. A diesel turbo usually only lasts about 150-200k miles before it needs replacing. Which means your talking at least $8000 for the turbo alone. Then probably another $5000 in installation costs if you don’t do it yourself. A new transmission which again only last about 200k miles is at least another $10,000 plus another 6-7k for installation, I could go on and on for days. The cons of getting a diesel in a HD truck DEFINITELY outweigh the pros.
Where did they get them? Personal trucks, viewer trucks, dealerships, manufacturer? It’s crazy to see this content and then think about who’s truck it is. I understand it’s what they are built for but still a lot of money
Anyone have an idea of which of the 3 has a tighter turning radius? Thats one thing that cant be improved compared to things like ride height or removing a sway bar for articulation.
This vid made me glad I recently bought a 2023 Power Wagon level 3. Even at 80-85k for my truck, still very expensive but does way more than I could imagine.

Actually, it is partially their fault these trucks are so expensive. It's the journalists that are always saying it needs more tech, it needs more camera's, it needs more features. Now they have them..... and the price reflects that.
All nice rigs! Everyone focuses on the price tag to get the truck which is a big number. Howeve, if you drive these trucks for 10 years and put 125k ish miles on it, you'll still have 50% of your money, so figure about $5k per year for cost. I've done that with two Duramaxes and no repairs out of warranty. DEF sensor, 9th injector, water pump all warranty. Did most of my own maintenance for low cost.
I agree. In 2015 I bought a left over 2014 F350 for 30,200 bucks. Last Dec I ordered a 2023 F350. They gave me 26K for my truck for a trade….i made out great. New prices not so great…lol
When the rams butt hit, it was because they drove it over too. Fast and it was just a slight bump because it bounced. The other two didn't have no clearance by comparison they had to drag their butts
Interesting comparo, but under the heading of "The right tool for the job", none of these behemoths would be my choice for the kind of off roading represented here! I think our 392 Wrangler would easily show them all taillights and sound better doing it!
The video is comparing brands yet you have a stock GMC 2500, a modified Dodge 2500 and heavily modified Ford 3500. Doesn’t seem like an equal comparison.
I know the Ford is the most capable, best looking, and will hold its resale the best, the Chevy as always is a blueprint rip of the Ford down to the area 51 blue, but the Dodge you have to respect for being original... even though Dodge by definition means to avoid I would still drive it!
All these trucks need for the problem of having "limited rear axle articulation" is a highly custom mod: SANDBAGS in the bed, a payload to flex the springs. With that, I'm sure they could ALL conquer Overbite and anything else more easily.
I've had far more time in a superduty off road but I had a HD2500 for a number of months(all work trucks). The HD hood is hard to see over, is my worst gripe, the comfort on road is a little soft off road. None of which are a deal breaker but I lean slightly ford. Both are great trucks though. The real question is since you're stuck with the dealer during the warranty period. Which dealer near you is going to treat you right? That can be a wide delta from area to area.
I’ve owned/own a Gen 2 Raptor, Bronco Badlands, Polaris rzr, and a 2023 F350. It is a complete waste to throw thousands into a 3/4 or 1ton truck to make them into off road beasts. They’re simply too big and too heavy to be very good. None of these trucks featured will come close to the other cars mentioned, in this environment. Even bone stock compared with these heavily modded heavy duties. I can see a place for something like this if you needed a capable support and recovery truck for a Baja race.
TFL runs on Sinclair fuel and so should you. Download the Sinclair DINOPAY app and start saving as much as $0.10 or more per gallon on your next fill-up. ( www.sinclairoil.com/customers )
Cool trucks, but for that money, I can get a semi that will tow more, a sports car that will go faster, and a luxury car that actually has a good ride and an eco box for mpg. All for the price of one of those.
Great video, only test that was not accurate was fuel mileage. The Duramax would have been closer too the other 2 if it hadn't been the only truck that raced every quarter mile race. The ram and for each only ran 2 passes, the duramax ran 4 which probably accounts for most of that extra gallon.
I could be wrong, but from the order the tests were shown. I'm not sure they accounted for the additional diesel use for the Chevy/GM when calculating the MPG. When they all filled up, the Chevy/GM had used more fuel. But I don't think they accounted for the fact that the Chevy raced both a standing as well as a rolling 1/4 mile against both the other trucks. It raced twice as often as either of the others, which would account for the difference in fuel consumption.
I have a 2022 F250 PS Lariat FX-4 with fixed running boards. When I go to Moab, my SuperDuty will be towing my lifted 2012 JK Rubicon. Impressive to see people with HD diesel trucks on such trails, but my Jeep is enough of a money pit.

Not sure the 2013 up F150s are worth having,
Also the 5.4 is problematical. Most light duty
American trucks are retro engineered to meet
C.A.F.E. requirements. Ford has big financial problems
Coming soon, as do other manufacturers.

I loaded up a xl and added leather, heated seats and a raptor steering wheel, 35” tires , interior upgrades….2022 51000
All of these trucks look phenomenal.. price aside
There's always on Mr. Know it all in the comment section 👎
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
The worst part of these is that manufacturers actually think ANY of these pickups is actually worth $100,000 !! That's just ridiculous any way ya look at it....
😭😭😭
Note to TFL staff. The power wagon splits it's power 50% front 50% rear. My 03 Ram 1500 split the front 40% the rear 60% and my gear ratio is lower in the power wagon transfer case.
I enjoyed the comparison. Price range is just too high for me though. For sure, GMC looks far nicer than the other two. 💪
Besides the repair bills
Y’all are cra cra for taking those out there and doing that but I LOVE IT!
That's what they are for!!!
It's a four wheel drive truck!!!!!

Where did they get them? Personal trucks, viewer trucks, dealerships, manufacturer? It’s crazy to see this content and then think about who’s truck it is. I understand it’s what they are built for but still a lot of money

Thank you very much for all this information. All the truck store little surprising but we know they are still meant more for the mud.

I would love to work with these guys and do these off road and towing tests they get to do. Some of my favorite stuff and they get paid to do it!
Fun video. I hope it will prevent folks from asking "why don't they put the Cummins in the power wagon?" Its pretty clear.

did GM improve the traction control? looks like it's applying the brake on the free spinning front wheel.. The other vid showed this too.
Awesome Video, I actually currently live in Fruita Colorado so that is a neat thing to see you guys here, also a ford guy so this was a cool video to see for that reason also.
Imagine paying 96k and getting halogen headlights still 💀
Love how he said, The least expensive truck couldn't make it. Like it didn't make it because of it's price lol
Great content guys! It’s not your fault these trucks are so expensive
Actually, it is partially their fault these trucks are so expensive. It's the journalists that are always saying it needs more tech, it needs more camera's, it needs more features. Now they have them..... and the price reflects that.
Awesome video. My question, does the ram not have a locker at all? You guys definitely needed the power wagon as the control..
Ford is the best forever, congrulation for working !
Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.
My JLU Sport on a spacer lift and 35s would do the same, just wouldn't sound as good. 🤣

The video is comparing brands yet you have a stock GMC 2500, a modified Dodge 2500 and heavily modified Ford 3500. Doesn’t seem like an equal comparison.
It’s the TFL way. They are beholden to ford and Toyota.
F350 not 3500, and the towing, torque, hp, payload are near identical.
@@codyhannigan6322mods matter especially off road. But you know that which is why you’re here trying to act like it doesn’t
@@codyhannigan6322 They're not. Because the Ram 2500 S.O. Engine is lower in HP and Torque. If you wanted closer, you need the 3500 which has the H.O.

I know the Ford is the most capable, best looking, and will hold its resale the best, the Chevy as always is a blueprint rip of the Ford down to the area 51 blue, but the Dodge you have to respect for being original... even though Dodge by definition means to avoid I would still drive it!

The Ford sounded like it was coming apart during the Frame Bender.
Do you know what all was creaking?
All these trucks need for the problem of having "limited rear axle articulation" is a highly custom mod: SANDBAGS in the bed, a payload to flex the springs. With that, I'm sure they could ALL conquer Overbite and anything else more easily.
The GMC did well for the only stock truck, but I would buy that modified Ford if I had 130K burning a hole in my pocket...
Exactly. Off-road HDs are sold for people who _think_ they can go off-road but never will (dirt roads don’t count!)
It’s a more advanced mall crawler.

Cool trucks, but for that money, I can get a semi that will tow more, a sports car that will go faster, and a luxury car that actually has a good ride and an eco box for mpg. All for the price of one of those.
Ram need to do some upgrades they the only one with. 6 speed
Longer wearing for towing and heavy duty work
Great video, only test that was not accurate was fuel mileage. The Duramax would have been closer too the other 2 if it hadn't been the only truck that raced every quarter mile race. The ram and for each only ran 2 passes, the duramax ran 4 which probably accounts for most of that extra gallon.
Nathan did 2 extra drag races that didn’t help his mpg but damn lol
I could be wrong, but from the order the tests were shown. I'm not sure they accounted for the additional diesel use for the Chevy/GM when calculating the MPG. When they all filled up, the Chevy/GM had used more fuel. But I don't think they accounted for the fact that the Chevy raced both a standing as well as a rolling 1/4 mile against both the other trucks. It raced twice as often as either of the others, which would account for the difference in fuel consumption.
Couldn't make it 1 minute into the video when I found out how much the vehicles cost.I got mad and had to shut the video off
And the gmc is the only one that comes from the factory as they tested
