Hiya Dave. Hope you are well. I just wanted to say how helpful your videos are. Like you I have found an 18 foot pole a bit too short, so am about to upgrade to a 22. I also used Xtreme brushes all the time as they are light weight, but because of the extra scrubbing needed to clean a window fully (especially frames) I found it cancelled out the benefits of actually using them. I've now been using the 'Edge' DA Components brushes and the 35cm Gardiner Ultimate and I'm much quicker and more thorough. Thank you so much for your brilliant videos and tips. PS. couldn't agree more on turning your flow up a bit. I use a backpack but it's still quicker and more water saving to actually have the flow up a bit 👍
I must admit, some of the things you mention i had picked up from Perry Tait of Reach-it, Brush sizing, Higher flow rates etc, i too rinse on a high flow rate, anywhere between 80-99, i totally agree, you can possibly increase your income by implementing improvements to your existing methodology AND don't be scared to put your prices up, loyal satisfied customers will accept it
Weight of pole is key for working 7/8 hours, also ive trained myself not to stop for 30mins+ for lunch, i eat between jobs or not at all which lifts profits. Fortunately ive got quite a few bungalows now, so ive split one of my slx18 to 2 sections tubeless/univalve for all bungalows and 18ft xtreme pole for traditional houses, i sometimes add the slx 5th section if i really need more reach, with xtreme 26cm brushes and 50 degree jets for both poles, flow to 60-70. I have a 35ft slx pole which fortunately i dont use that much anymore but is handy for the awquard veluxes and second story windies. Ive used slx poles for years, but now working with this setup is not only quicker but kinder on the back/neck, much more enjoyable. Also a power reel saves time and effort well worth the investment and a nice big tank so you dont get water anxiety 😳😉👍🏻
Hi Dave great video shared knowledge is a wonderful thing. All the little things add up. So I use anSLX 18 and an xtreme25 both with 35 cm brushes and swivels plus a univalve.I would say the difference compared to what I used to use.clx 18 +clx 27 is at least10 extra houses Per day expensive equipment but it very quickly pays for itself and it’s effortless. Keep them coming🙂
Fantastic mate, great pointers. Keep them coming. Having the van set up properly helps too, make a list of all your going to need to help you work efficiently. 👍🏻
Great tips Dave Same as you use a 35mm brush & 22ft pole as standard.Where we differ, I only use a Gardiner Xtreme brush with rinse bar for any window cleaning.Perfect every time. If I’m doing cons roofs or soffits will use a sill brush first with pencil jets, then rinse off with Xtreme with rinse bar, saves a ton of water. Do hundreds of houses all next door to each other. Never travel more than one mile, like you say. No down time. In winter, do three ups reel the hose in to keep warm & then do three downs by hand. Saves two thirds of your hot water which costs money. Keep the vids rolling. You’re the best!

Hi Dave, I think and work very similarly to your good self. Always re-thinking for improvements. There are some slight differences between us in our technique but nothing wrong with that. The one very slight difference that I first noticed is that on the lower level work I will generally have my angle adaptor set one or two clicks straighter than you choose to. I feel I can work with easier, more free movements while stood back slightly further. Not saying it's better, it's just the style I've developed that seems to suit me. In most other stuff I'd say we're fairly similar in our practices and thinking. Thanks for your great input to the trade. A real boon, especially to those in the early stages, to help them start out on the right foot with all aspects : equipment, planning, technique, pricing etc. Best regards to you. Davy G ⚓🙂
Thanks Davy. There’s not really a right or wrong is there. We all move differently, have different bodies etc. It’s just a matter of working out what’s best for yourself. I have noticed lately that my shoulders are aching a bit so started changing things around a bit to try and help stop repetitive stress.
