    I don’t use a tank, so I just check the weather for freezing overnight temperatures. If it’s going to freeze I just take my RO/Di trolley into the house overnight. But I stop water fed work usually mid to late December anyway.

    Hi mate.. All my pipes cracked recently.. So I've got a insulation blanket for the tank... And for the pipes.. My immersion (3kw) is on the top side of the tank. If I leave it on over night will it keep the water warm through out the day.. Also using gardiner all weather hose is this hose fine with warm water cheers..

    Hi Dave , have you tried spray insulation in a can.. it's fantastic, expands and goes into all those hidden spots, will sound proof your van as well, it's also fire resistant for peace of mind, you can apply it to your desired thickness sets hard and once set you can trim to shape if needed. If you want to pre heat your water in the tank while you are driving is to run a heat exchanger from you van engine .. and a small circulation pump very ezy to set up and no running costs.. and will keep your hands warm while you are working 😜

    • @FlashTechEngineering
      @FlashTechEngineering 5 років тому

      Hi Dave , additional info 30 plate will work but the 60 plate heat exchanger is the best Set up 👍

    • @squeakycleandave1
      @squeakycleandave1  5 років тому

      Great ideas. How long would it take for the heat exchanger to heat 400 litres of water as I only do short journeys. 👍

    • @FlashTechEngineering
      @FlashTechEngineering 5 років тому +1

      Squeaky Clean Dave hi Dave not long, because if you insulation is good around your tank it will retain the heat overnight so no freezing issues, the 60 plate is super efficient, the the advantage is that when your tank water gradually warms up that water is going back through the heat exchanger and becomes more effective in heating quicker , so insulate your in and out hoses with refrigerating lagging to prevent heat loss , so your pump is a normal pump used for window cleaning and use a digital controller as well, I would use a 20 litre pump to give you the capacity to increase flow rate if need be, you can regulate flow rate through the heat exchanger via pump and controller, connected to a relay switch from your car ignition switch . You pump will flow on ignition So if you have a small job keep the van running, you can put a inline temperature sensor on your outlet side to regulate your out going temperature into your tank.. you can build up a small controller box for all components to keep it neat would recommend a timer switch so when the ignition is turned off your pump continues to run to draw out the heat from the exchanger ..eg 5 minutes.. trial and error on that via inline temperature sensor.. hope that helps. Thanks your brother David 😀😀👍

      FlashTechEngineering thanks very much for the info. I will look into it 👍

    • @FlashTechEngineering
      @FlashTechEngineering 5 років тому +1

      Squeaky Clean Dave that's okay, I run the ionic 400 litre cold water crash tested unit , the ionic wabasto diesel hotbox unit in my van, the best investment I've made to run hot water, its quicker and less fatiguing as the brush glides across the glass better , I'm shaving at least 2 hrs a dayI, the water at brush head is between 65-75 degrees, the additional advantage is I keep the unit running between jobs via a bypass valve back into my 400l tank which continues to heat the tank while I'm driving. I had the plan to install the heat exchanger unit, but I had to spend money on equipment for taxes reasons I produce my water at home from ionics Quattro stainless steel R/O unit into storage tanks and draw water from the tanks when I need to top up.. another tip is to circulate your pure 0 TDS water through a nuclear grade filter 24/7 at 300-500 mls per minute this method further polishes the water and will increase the dissolving power of the water bringing up to close to 18 meg ohms .. if you get the chance check out ionic reach and wash video on dissolving power on water at 18 meg ohms .. 👍👍

    Ive never insulated or heated my van on my cold delivery diy system (kent). Im still using a 5 year old leisure battery still going strong, average 30 miles per working day. Had no issues, other than i remember having to go home early 2 different days over 4 winters due to the ground being frosty and hoses keep freezing up but even that is not worth me investing thousands into a hot water system as nice as it would be, although ive noticed my tank to reel hose have started to lose their shape, also a small part of my reel hose - which could be change of temperatures?

    • @squeakycleandave1
      @squeakycleandave1  4 роки тому +1

      Its good that you have never had any real problems. 👍
      As ive got a very compact round I probably only drive 5-10 miles a day and although ive got a split charger its not enough to keep my battery charged.
      Ive had the water freeze in the jets will cleaning a gutter in the past though over resent years it hasn't seemed to get very cold so not such a problem.
      I think to fit an immersion heater to my van cost me around £50-£60 and costs about £2.50-£3.00 a night to heat 450 ltr of water.
      The advantage to hot water is that it makes cleaning faster and easier so you earn more money in less time with less effort. The fact that the van or pole doesn't freeze is just an advantage. 👍

      I’ve got 5 dogs that share the house with us. 4 are asleep on the sofas at the moment and the German Shepard that comes to work with me is asleep at my feet on the floor.
      Whenever we are travelling they are caged for safety. The one that comes to work with me loves the cage in the van and if I don’t put her in for a couple of hours during the day over the weekend she plays up.

    Is there a hot water bottle for the dog?!!

    • @squeakycleandave1

      david mcmahon no mate. Because I heat the tank overnight it keeps his crate warm and in the summer I don’t heat the water so it keeps him cool. He loves coming to work and is waiting at the door when I go out. If he is sat on the sofa when I go and doesn’t want to come I leave him at home but that’s not very often 👍

      david mcmahon I would have him in the van with me but he’s so dog and cat aggressive I would be crashing the van every 5 minuets.👍

      window cleaning before I started using hot water I had the jets in the brush freeze up on me while I was washing a gutter. Had to put it in the footwell of the van with the heater going to defrost it so I could finish the job🥶

    Why you carrying your dog inside your van? Do you think he is comfortable? Better leave him at home he will be feeling much better than closed at this small cage.

      Lexiu he comes to work with me most days and is my best buddy. I let him choose if he wants to come or stop at home with our 4 other rescue dogs. He has water and a thick blanket in his cage and at this time of the year the tank is full of hot water so he’s not cold. He gets regular walks between customers which he wouldn’t if he was at home. So all in all he’s pretty happy but thanks for your concern.
