I have been seeing PS flashing and was told it signifies an air lock. Been trying for ages to clear it to but no avail. Looks like i had the wrong advice. Will be doing the auto calibration first thing in the morning. Thanks Dave, really informative video for a newbie like me. i will have to look at everything else now to see where else i'm going wrong!! Fantastic advice. So glad i have stumbled across your channel.
Glad you found it useful. Definitely sounds like a calibration problem. PS stands for pressure switch which is the mechanical way of stopping the pump When it’s set correctly it will come up as DE
@@squeakycleandave1 So i followed your instructions and calibrated my system. No more PS flashing and system is set to its optimal setting. Thanks for your tutorial. Keep up the good work!!
Great video. Mine automatically set at 38. However, having experimented I felt it worked better at 55. Thanks for all info! Had no idea this controller could do it 👍🏻
Thank you for the Video, I was having issues using fan jets and that came up I didn't know what it meant didn't think anything off it, I would assume the PS or P5 I thought 💭 is the issue I'll turn it up on the pump hopefully that'll sort it :-)

Excellent video as always mate 👍 I'm glad you do these explanation videos cos I never understood why you set the deads at different times etc. Much appreciated
Hi Dave. At the moment, I'm using the pump from an Electronic gardensprayer. It only runs 60psi, but it's enough I think. (most people runs their 100 psi pumps on 60 anyways) It starts an stops automaticly as i pull the univalve. For over a year now, I have never blown a connection or the pump itself. The more I learn about the 100psi pumps and the flowcontrollers, the more I think, that I'm better of with my current setup. Convince me😉 Have a nice day. Best regards
My last shurflo pump lasted me for 10 years and was still working when I changed it. It had just slowed down. Smaller pumps will work but it’s the difference between buying a diy tool from B and Q and buying a tradesmans tool. They both work and do the job but the tradesmans tool will last longer, be easier to use and be more efficient. It’s the same with pumps. I like to have a hi flow so if I used a smaller pump it would be working flat out to give me the same amount of water as a bigger pump working at 60%. Hope this makes sense. I’m not trying to say I’m right or wrong. It’s just my opinion 👍
Thanks dave I mate. As you know I've ordered my v16 plus link. From spring like you say spring along with Phil great help. And I'll need to watch this video a couple times to calibrate the unit thanks again dave
Great vid as always 👍🏼 on a different note you have given me a great idea for keeping new dog in the van! Never thought of keeping in back and on tank 👌🏼
Great video Dave, appreciate how well you explain things. I'm currently working on a custom dual user system. Question regarding the controller and the dead end function... With the RO waste water always flowing, even when you turn water off at the pole, won't the pump continue to run as there won't be a dead end since the waste water still flows out? (This would be a booster pump pushing water through the system/filters as I'm normally dealing with low pressure water supplies).
Thanks Dave, Out of all the videos & people asked (even had a two page Manuel on it that made no sense for a company ) about de & Cal seen on the V16 you have explained the v16 the most simplistic and best way to understand. Feel as you work with it day in day out you understand it. THANK YOU With the link control, do you find this being it you along with new V16, only ask as thinking of changing what I have IF is better? 👍
So I've just fitted a brand new shurflo pump and ever since I've been getting oc(so rewired and changed the fuses but nothing changes) tried recalibrating but on my AUT I'm getting and no calibration. I have a variflo v16. So any suggestions would be much appreciated
Hi Dave, Great videos! I’ve not started window cleaning yet I’m just getting started, I’ve just bought a second hand Baileys Wfp system and thanks to your videos changed all the filters and resin, flush it out for an hour today, then thought let’s see how it works! Switched on Pump and controller kicked in for a few seconds then the controller started flashing P, then kick in again then stopped flashing P again?? Do you know what this problem is? Sorry pump controller is a varistream digital.
Dose it make a difference to the calibration if you have the pole fully extended on not when calibrating? And what effect dose calibration have on flow if any? Tx Dave
Love your vids Dave 👌🏼 Have also just giving me motivation to sort the van roof after seeing the foil on yours. How did you stick yours up if don’t mind me asking!
Hi Dave I’ve noticed today when I stop my flow of water on my pole it doesn’t start flowing again, it’s about 2/3 degrees here today , I’m just wondering if the temperature is causing this issue? , when I go back to the controller and turn it right up it kicks in again but obviously this isn’t ideal or permanent solution, I did the auto cal this morning but I’ve still had this issue today , I’ve had a couple of really good days without any issue with it , any advice would be appreciated
With the cold weather the pipes are stiffer and the water is more viscous so it doesn’t pump through as easily. The best thing to do is turn the flow down slightly and manually turn the DE up. That should sort it out
Thanks Dave , as always your replies are appreciated, im definately learning as I go with this system But overall it’s making life easier and jobs more time efficient , I’ve insulated my outgoing tank hose with some wickes polystyrene insulation which worked well last night, I think I’ll be wrapping the tank next in some form of lightweight insulation, hope your empire is doing well👍🏻
Dave, what's your view on just the basic dial ones with a switch like the Safeflow ones seem very popular? These modern ones seem to have lots of features but what about just a basic one to dial change the speed? What are your thoughts?

Hi Dave, I've just bought a v16 pump controller. Just asking for your advice as to the wiring and mounting of the controller. 1. Is it better to wire it to bypass the pump pressure switch? If so, how would I go about doing that? 2. I want to mount it directly to the side of my van - to the ply lining. What's the best way to do that? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards Your brother Matt
1. It’s best to wire it with the pressure in place that way if you dead end is set wrong the pressure switch still works 2. Ifyou take the cover of from memory there is a hole in each corner that you can use to screw it to the ply. Hope that helps
Thanks for the video Dave. Any chance I could run an issue by you? I’ve tried auto recalibration and I’ve also tried manually setting at 99 incase the level was too sensitive but despite trying both, the controller is still recognising “de” during use or even when the univalve stops flow. Both ways, it still seems to be cutting out during use. Any ideas? Cheers
