I think the "lick encrusted spear" could be referring to her tongue since she used the thu'um and she wouldn't necessarily need a weapon if she could just sing her victory into existence.
Is it Lick or Lich encrusted? Lich is what I hear
XD cancel that according to Google it is Lick lol
Or she was a hermaphrodite, just like Vivec?
Kainlarsen oh boy lol
" Lick encrusted spear" is an old as shit saying, but yes it would have refered to the voice
The ancient Nords sound so hardcore and absolutely terrifying. The Thu'um is no fucking joke. "We can speak to move the earth beneath your feet and raise the dead and sing to alter the course of fate and whisper to the sky to make it rain acid." And then you get to Skyrim and it's just kind of a letdown lol.
Dragonborn is like old Nords
That's the whole point
that’s because the amount of magic on Nirn is waning.
@@rowansidhe3239 There is nothing that suggests magic is waning. But perhaps in Varieties of Faith, where it says "What is left of him (Magnus) on the world is felt and controlled by mortals as magic." Possibly implying there's a fixed amount. But that's reaching and most likely just semantics. Other sources would imply that the holes left by Magnus, and the Magna Ge, allow aetherius to continue to pour into our realm of Mundus. The largest reasons things have become less fantastical is magical arts being lost to time due to there being less need and lazy development by Bethesda.
I mean would you want the Thu'um to break the world when playing Skyrim?
Some person: "Wow, these 36 Lessons are so poetic and mystical"
Vivec, too ashamed to admit how absolutely blasted he was when he wrote them: "...yep, that's Vivec for you...mystical and poetic"
Replace Vivec with Michael Kirkbride and it makes even more sense
@@niklas992 That makes a bit too much sense.
@@niklas992 Or Matt Ward for those who read/play Warhammer 40k
Guess he hit the skooma a bit too hard lol.
This is the same Vivic that made a spear out of Molag Bals pen15..... How much truth was in that legend lmao
“Who wields a pen like a weapon instead of a tool.”
If you’d listen to Eurland Gray-mane, you’d know that weapons are merely tools.
Have you ever read "Of the 5 Great Demon Chieftains of Skyrim"? What am I saying, of course you haven't.

Took me a while to get this, im ashamed of myself
Imagine being summoned by your nordic descendant, after driving back thousands of dunmer/fighting the tribunal, only to be awkwardly sat next to them on the battlefield, as allies.
I imagine the “First time huh?” Meme applies somewhere it but its all so convoluted i don’t know whose who.
Never trust the 36 Lessons, or Vivec. he's almost as untrustworthy as mysterious akavir.
Sounds like something a Tsaeci spy would say
Yet they are all true
@@baronofbahlingen9662 I mean to be fair a Tsaesci Spy would support it just to prevent anyone from going to Hakoshae in Elsweyr and asking the Imperial/Akaviri descendants about them.
Really the answers to our questions (at least on Tsaesci culture and religious beliefs) are right there but literally zero scholar bothers to ask.
@@nonamegiven202what i dont get is they litterly ran the reman empire for decades how the hell did the akavari pontentate not leave first hand records of their homeland and culture. I mean we have extensive documentation on them ruling and how they got wacked but nothing culture wise

Didn’t the Atmoran’s have lifespans similar to Elves, before an incident with Alduin and Orkey?
Likely yes, then it was 6 years lifespan (due to the Orkey thing), and it's around 60-80 now.
they're also descendants of Giants in some other source. so the lore is shaky at best in the first Era stories !
Perhaps, but given their biology and lifestyle, I doubt they'd be like the longer lived Mer like Altmer, probably more like Bosmer, the shortest lived of the Mer, given the guy and his dad died at around 200 years old.
@@thalmoragent9344 Old humans and old elves were essentially equals, and both were above the Altmer
@@JXEditor
Well, perhaps the Ehlnofey yes, but Altmer were around at this time, and this is after the Falmer have been mercilessly wiped out, and around/after the Allesian Rebellion, so it makes sense that they're not like their Atmoran ancestors, nor are the Mer of this time as ancient as their Aldmer ancestors.
And given the age at which this guy died, that doesn't sound anymore impressive than the average Bosmer, much less Altmer. Magicka also plays a part in lifespans as well, and the Ancient Nords, even with their Clever Men, aren't as magically adept or attuned as the Mer at the time.
And if old humans were the same, then how come the other Nedes or Imperials or Redguards are all the same? They didn't have any beef of gods like Alduin and Orky, so they'd be as old as Mer according to you.
Of course, you may be completely right in this instance, I'm just sharing my understanding of the situation.
I interpreted Barg's power as having achieved CHIM and Vivec was able to defeat him in debate. He would be able to change himself or the world around him if he was sure of himself. I felt that was a poetic way for Vivec to state that he did achieve CHIM without putting Barg at the same level as himself. As for the debate, I interpreted that part as Vivec being able to debate him into essentially questioning himself, causing him to zero-sum himself from existence. This is purely speculation, as are most arguments diving into lore that is this obscure, but given the muddy stories that come from Vivec, it seems plausible. It's a very literal, yet poetically cryptic, description of Barg's abilities
Vivec had higher Speechcraft than Barg
Wait I thought when you zero sum time is rewritten so you never existed, that means nothing you do ever happened (causing a butterfly effect) and no one remembers you.
I thought this too, sure of his existence, so he can choose his form, much like vivec himself did
I think the "listening frame"is maybe a Dwemer construction. Remember, they specialized in tonal work. Maybe the frame was a sort of mask, so every time Wulfarth tried Shout, it would echo within the mask and drive him mad.
MKB said somewhere on reddit he meant Vivec's vagina
Or a super sick headset. Let's not forget that the Dwemer built god and that there is perhaps a time traveling cyborg.
I'm pretty sure the wings are just part of her armor and they ended up being so remarkable that it ended up being literal when talked about from word of mouth, a lot of similar situations have happened throughout history like with the "immortal" persians

Wings, potentially in league with a Deadra, lick encrusted spear (I.E. sharp teeth) Yeah, the valkyrie lady wasn't a valkyrie. Barfoq was a Vampire Lord.
Oh I like that! Perhaps a Nordic vampire queen.
Ohhh, that's an interesting take!
Not sure but I though vampire lords (form) didn't exist until the Volkihar clan came around. Edit :Originally said second era but nobody really know how old the Volkihar clan actually is, some say first era some say second era.
@@jonathancollins1868 Well, there's a few ways it could work; Barfoq could be an ancestor of the Volkihars, maybe even the first to become a Vampire Lord. Perhaps she split from her original family because of the vampirism, and started the Volkihar clan.
She could also be a different type of Vampire Lord. Many different strains of vampirism lead to different traits, but they could also share traits too. Maybe hers involves growing wings but she's not a Vampire Lord as we know them in ES5.
And the last thing I can think of is that she's a vampire but uses a Shout to fly like Scott said. That would explain why everybody knows about her sharp teeth.
@@Kazuma11290 Maybe. I don't know of any other clans capable of the vampire lord form, and I could have sworn Harkkon was the first of the clan to become a vampire. I'll admit that there COULD be other clans and bloodlines capable of the transformation that we haven't seen yet. I'm just making assumptions based on what we do know, and so far no other clans have been seen to have the transformation.
So yes its possible but I have doubts.
Also outside the lore I don't think the idea of a vampire lord transformation existed pre-skyrim. The accounts are from Morrowind If I am correct. But I could be wrong.

A Lick-encrusted spear might be a spear encrusted with Tongues. Remember how magical ropes were made out of Tongue's tongues? Magical Tongue Spear.
Stop, I can only get so hard
Damn this footage is looking extra tasty today.
A lick covered spear could be referring to her use of the thu'um as he referenced her to singing so he could word it as her own tongue or her tongue "thu'um" was a great spear as she could sing entire cities to ruin
@fudgemuppet
Man the Nords of old make the modern day Nords look like they're still 6 year Olds 😂
Nords have devolved overtime like digimon, from mega to rookie🤦♂️🤦♂️smh
Common theme for most of the races really. Dwemer are gone, Altmer are just degraded Aldmer, all other elves are even further warped Aldmer, and all humans are just degraded Atmorans. Ysgramor would've wiped the floor with any Nord alive and wouldn't break a sweat.
Same applies to humans in the real world.
@@G34RH34D That's actually the exact opposite of true throughout most of human history. A Roman would've stood a little over five foot tall on average, and wouldn't have had the musculature of a modern human. Also, most people in the Roman empire had ringworm and other parasites due to lower hygiene standards and the use of human "manure" to nourish crops (which tended to spread parasites). George Washington was said to be a giant that loomed over everyone else in the room at his majestic... 6'2". Which is still tall, don't get me wrong, but not utterly remarkable nowadays. Pretty much across the board humans are better off now than at any time in history. If you take care of yourself (Granted that's a big if) you can achieve a physical standard that would put you head and shoulders, literally, above humans from any other era.
That's what happens when you rest on your laurels, really. They're not the only race to be this way, just the ones we're most familiar with.
Totally late to the lore game, but you said Alduin: "devoured nords down to the age of 6." Makes me think that he killed every man who was old enough for military service. He exhausted their army and reserves.
I think the ebony listening frame is more literal than figurative. Vivec probably enchanted an ebony helm with the power of the very Th'um that was used to lift villages and throw them into the sea and ensured it couldn't be removed.
Doubt anyone caught this but... In the year 420, Olaf one-eye was named 'High' King
Did he also shout fire?
Get it? :D
Guess what, the high elves are high elves because the wood elves keep growing
Maybe the "power of sureity" is something more to premonition or seeing probabilities. Like being able to look into the near future to see if a particular action would be successful or not.
I've come to believe that the earlier Atmorans were indeed taller, longer lived, and more capable of great mystical interactions. They in turn were capable of many things that were Mer like in their epic scale. Think of the ties with the early giants and dragons!
All elder scrolls races besides Argonians
Are actually Elvis
Even the nords evolved from elves
@@fevreject6319 The High Elves are the closest obvious remaining thing to the beings they were before they encountered mortality. Most races on Narn are offshoots of the beings that were NOT sheltered in what is now called The Summerset Isles. They who wandered during the timeless, formless and forming hostile place that was before things settled down. Those beings became the predecessors of men, and the other races save Argonians and possible the Khajiit. The difference being that the "Races" or High Elf, Orc, Dwarf, Dark Elf, etc came from the Summerset beings that had been "blessed" by staying there.
@@fevreject6319 No, where did you get that from?
@@Super50ldierhe got it from the lore of the elder scrolls
The Ehlnofey, that were descendants of the original Et'ada that helped to create Mundus, split into two separate factions, the Old Ehlnofey and the Wandering Ehlnofey. Depending on the source you read, there was a war between the two groups. The Old Ehlnofey won causing the Wandering Ehlnofey to be cast out from The Summerset Isles, hence the name Wandering.
The Old Ehlnofey became the Aldmer.
The Aldmer split and became the modern Altmer, the Chimer, and the Bosmer. The Chimer were cursed by Azura and became the Dunmer. The modern Altmer are the most similar to the original Aldmer and therefore also the most similar to the Old Ehlnofey.
The Wandering Ehlnofey are the ancestors of men, including the Atmorans, Nedes, Nords, Imperials, Etc.
Therefore all men and elves are descendants of the Ehlnofey.
This is a very succinct explanation, and you would be better informed by listening to more FudgeMuppet videos on the topic, or going read the lore pages online.
@@simonsundy518 Yes the Old and Wandering Ehlnofey became the two species, the Elves and Humans respectively. The Old Ehlnofey didn't win, the Wandering Ehlnofey won because they were tougher than the Old. The Aldmer were the first Elven race and progenitors of the various Elven races like you mentioned and the Atmorans were one of the first Human races and one of the two progenitors of the various Human races except the Redguards and Tsaesci. But this one of the many creation stories.
For the first nord I think he is a shaman and can tap into the power of nirn. It is similar to what the wyrd sisters do in ESO.
The second nord might be a daedric worshipper. Maybe Namira or Peyrite(can't remember the spelling right now).
The third guy is hard to say, but maybe he was poisoned during a meeting with vivec.
The fourth nord sounds like she might have been using elven armor, which commonly had wings on them aesthetically. As for her powers it is hard to say. She could have been a skaald though, or battle poet.
The fifth nord sounds like a pretty typical dragon born. He also just sounds like a super powerful thuum user.
I also cant wait for the upcoming podcast. These Nords went hard as they could and it still was never enough

I think "her lick-encrusted spear" refers to her physical tongue. Maybe her Thu'um was so powerful that she didn't need to carry an actual spear in battle.
I think Barg was basically just an Illusionist (albeit really damn powerful). “Two-Tongued” obviously implies ‘Deceitful’- like ‘double speak’, etc. The “power of ‘surety’” sounds odd, but I think the intent is “power *over* ‘surety’”- not his own surety, but others’. He uses Illusions to disrupt their perception- they become ‘unsure’ of what is real. “His armies were small, but [powerful].”- sounds like the ‘Courage’/‘Embolden’/whatever it’s called magic effect. ‘Transforming’ himself into big scary monsters sounds like the result of a Mass Fear effect or similar.
As for Vivec “debating” him, say Barg tried to ‘deceive’ Vivec, but Vivec was all smart, so he countered with a big brain philosophical argument (I like to imagine Vivec on UA-cam like “‘Two-Tongue’ EXPOSED! Barg DEBUNKED by REAL DEITY with FACTS and LOGIC! #BargIsCancelledParty #NordGate #Vivec2020”, but that’s just me...)- in layman’s terms... Vivec was too high-level for Barg’s Illusion spell... rookie mistake, Barg- you should always dual-cast...
Less clear cut, though certainly plausible is that the reason for Almalexia being invisible was to avoid the risk of Barg potentially turning her and Vivec against each other (a la the classic ‘hide in the bushes, cast Frenzy on Bandit Leader, point, laugh’ trick)- I mean, think about it, the Tribunal aren’t exactly opposed to stabbing their friends in the back if it’s convenient (#JusticeForNerevar)... plus Almalexia was a bit of a crazy ass bitch (ask Sotha Sil, oh wait- you can’t, because, yeah...).
So, it’s not much of a stretch to say that combining some ‘encouragement’ from a Master Illusionist, hundreds of years of unresolved ‘issues’, misc. psychotic tendencies, and a complete lack of empathy/loyalty/compassion/etc. is *very* probably going to result in a slight... ‘domestic disturbance’... which is *not* something you want from your leaders in the middle of a war... especially when it’s between two literal gods... That could prove to be well and truly catastrophic...
Wait... Was Barg the only one who personally fought Vivec- or any of the Tribunal for that matter..? Maybe not, but regardless, that particular fight seemed very heavily emphasized. Even when considered from an in-universe perspective as an undoubtedly ‘skewed’ version of history as told by Vivec, it clearly receives special attention. It seems Vivec himself is implicitly acknowledging it as especially noteworthy. But why? Could be any number of reasons. Could be nothing.
OR...
Maybe... and this is total speculation, here- but *maybe* the ‘Demon Chiefs’ had a similar idea. Remember, Nords aren’t *completely* batshit insane berserker rage monsters. Some, at least, (Ysgramor, Tiger Septim, et al) were pretty damn smart. Not just in military matters (recall that Ysgramor apparently *invented writing* - how the hell a society achieved sufficient mastery of mathematics, engineering, navigation, etc to successfully transport people en masse across a fairly sizable ocean without a system of writing...? Uh... video games...). The Demon Chiefs probably realized that, despite their undeniable Nordic badassery, and even if their opponents were just some poncy elves, the fact that they had *3* living gods on their side could complicate things rather significantly.
While of course, no true son of Mighty Talos would ever, *ever* openly admit such a thing, privately, their leaders may have acknowledged that when you’re in a war against gods, perhaps discretion is indeed the better part of valor. As any military leader worth their salt knows, the best way to conquer a fortress- literal or metaphorical- is from the inside. On a macro and micro level, there is no greater threat to a unit’s combat effectiveness than internal strife. I don’t think Sun Tzu exists in TES Universe, but the principal still applies: “Supreme excellence in war consists of winning without fighting.” Good commanders defeat their enemies; *great* commanders make their enemies defeat themselves.
So, how do you fight fire? Well, with water, actually, but proverbially “with fire”. Likewise, how do you fight a god- much less 3 gods? Ideally, you don’t. You make them fight each other. Even if they don’t straight up kill each other, finishing off the last one standing is relatively simple. Maybe the Nords’ plan was for a small, elite force (ref. Barg’s “small but powerful” army. Why put Barg in charge of the ‘small’ army? If anything, it would make sense for him to lead the largest army to maximize the advantage of his presumed Illusion buffs. But hey- details.) to move ahead of the main forces and, using Barg’s Illusionary powers, eliminate, or at least compromise/weaken, the Tribunal- a classic decapitation maneuver. Cut off the head of the snake, and all that.
I know the video wasn’t necessarily chronological, but I think it at least implied that Barg not only directly confronted Vivec, but that he did so relatively early in the war, as if he was specifically targeting the Tribunal- or the exact opposite, the Tribunal (Vivec and Almalexia, at least- Sotha Sil was probably busy reading a book or something- NERD...) might’ve specifically targeted Barg. Which would strongly imply that, whether or not they were aware of his plan- or if there even was a plan- they considered him the single greatest threat, else why would 2 of the 3 (even though Almalexia apparently did nothing in the fight...) personally go after *1* of the 5, not even the (all-around) most powerful of the 5, especially considering that any 1 of the Tribunal should’ve been more than a match for any of the Demon Chiefs, since, you know, ‘gods’...
Regardless of the details, for some reason, even in the middle of a war, apparently, the Tribunal had a peculiar fixation with this 1 specific person- who wasn’t even the enemy ‘leader’ or ‘champion’ per se, at most he was 1 of 4 sub-commanders, and he commanded the *smallest* force- who, above all others, they really, *really* did not want to exist.
Like I said, pure speculation, and fuzzy on details, but overall, I’d say it’s a plausible and interesting theory: Whether or not The Nords were even aware of it, Barg may have (at the time) been the 1 person who had a very real chance of destroying the Tribunal. Reminder: don’t underestimate Illusion, kids.
Now that would definitely make for a great “What if..?” video.
“What if The ‘Demon Chieftains’ successfully defeated the Tribunal and conquered Morrowind?”
In fact, what if they actually did come much closer to succeeding than anyone- except the Tribunal- would ever realize..?
It would explain why even Vivec himself called them “Demons”... usually, that’s a title reserved only for those you both really, *really* hate... and Fear...
Or maybe Vivec is just awesome at writing TES fanfics.
EDIT: Oh wait, they *all* fought Vivec, and other things that totally invalidate that whole theory. Hm. Maybe I should’ve watched the video more than once. Derp. So much for that. I think I just really get a kick out of casting Frenzy and getting the Tribunal to kill each other. Ha. Oh well. Better than sitting at work staring at the wall. Seriously, fuck that wall. It’s probably the worst wall in history. Trust me, I’ve spent a long time staring at the damn thing.

Vivec writing poems about sexually conquering his opponents is equivalent to that scene in Spaceballs, where Dark Helmet is roleplaying with dolls.
It's so damn disengaging, where the latter is funny.
Another explanation for Fenja's long lifespan and necromantic tendencies is the possibility he was a Pure-blood Vampire.
So... don't fight Vivec or he will orally assault you?
Yes
This makes me feel better about my decisions in marrowind. After killing almalexia and hircine, soul trapping them with Azuras star so I could use their souls for my gear, I’d go out of my way to kill vivec purely to have another armor enchanted with the soul of a god. I never knew how to feel about the tribunal, they betrayed nerevarine so they could become gods but it was also hard for me to say if that was pure greed or if they actually thought they were helping their people. However, after almalexia went mad, after finding out about sotha sil’s arrogance towards the gods who aided him, and just how much of a creep vivec was, I can honestly say their souls and power were put to better use powering my armor. Although now I want to do a play through where I seal their souls to something more… fitting. Like a dildo and a douche.

She had wings and a "lick encrusted spear" - a flying futanari Nord? Makes more sense than some of the other stuff in the lore tbh...
This sounds like poetic exaggerations of Shouting mostly.Shouts can indeed raise the dead, call destruction from the skies ,etc. They can bend the will ,cause confusion, disarm an enemy, buff followers or you.Such a shame most players just Fus goats off mountains.I did the Civil War at rather high level and Ulfric was using Disarm on Imperials. This was something I did not know could happen.Other than Fus Roh Dah people only seem to use destruction magic type shouts.Aura Whisper makes a Sneak Archer, already a brokenly OP build incredibly deadly.Marked for Death has sent lower dragons fleeing and combined with wards makes Revered Dragons manageable on high difficulty. No wonder the Elves of Morrowind considered Tongues to be demons. As for "wings" Whirlwind Sprint and Become Ethereal probably account for that.
Voice users can probably stretch their lifetime similar to powerful magic users (who've stretched this well beyond 200 years plenty of times)

Power of Surety can also be an extreme confidence or forcing your belief on Nirn, which is the basis of Alteration magic.
Vivec: "Let me tell you how I F*K'D these terrifying Demon Chieftains away and saved Resdayn"
Is there any chance you could make videos that explore eso for those that don’t want to play it?
in a lot of his videos there are aspects taken from shit we know on eso but that's on a whole assortment of random videos I guess you just have to watch a play through or play it yourself
I’m keen on Mr. Mud Mouth. That sounds absolutely badass.
Vvec shut his hole with it's own and he ran away, for what he was subjected to was beyond horrific 😂
Nice video! I really enjoyed it!
In all my times watching these videos, I've never been this early
Barg was actually Olaf one eye and his form change refers how he could become the dragon Numinex.
Olaf was a lier, aka 2 tongued.
Old comment but they lived hundreds of years apart
I imagine the Dunmer would associate mud and necromancy with an invading force of “uncivilized Nords”, if that makes any sense. We know the Dunmer venerate their ancestors and are strongly opposed to necromancy, so associating the Nords with this magic is likely an attempt to slander them, encouraging pious Dunmer to rise up against them. Also, I imagine the civilized Dunmer would look down on a the dirty Nords. They probably associated dirt and mud with impurity. Also Baflok and Vivek might have become lovers, so she was defeated because she fell in love.
Great video! I just started a new let's play of oblivion on my channel, I love any new elder scrolls content on youtube, glad it's still as big today as it was over a decade ago!
Really neat stuff, thanks very much!
If I could change one thing about the lore, it would be the way of the voice. I think it would be so cool if there were warriors who still used the Thum in battle, only in self defense, not to concur, but to defend their land and allies.
You've given me an idea for a Valkyrie of Azura character based on Barthok
"Milkfinger" *giggle like a schoolgirl* XD
I accidentally stole a daedra heart and ate it, I had to get that off my chest!
If he's taking responsibility for others actions, there's a shout to imbue allies with strength and valor. Could the two be related?
14:00 "Vivec is the anticipation of Mephala" kek
Compare Ysmir's life: to your "Companions" Quests in Skyrim. LOL what a joke!
Good job! I love your videos!
So basically Vivec's main way to fight Thuum wielders was to literally shove his genitals in their faces... Poetic indeed
Vivec: Dunmer God of the struggle-snuggle.
can't screem if you got his two-tone sword in the way
The Witcher 3 and Skyrim are games of an era
one possible advantage to the second meaning of surety could be that me was maybe able to take on the wounds of illnesses of allies?? idk, i just like the idea of a nordic warrior king selflessly using the power of his voice to heal his soldiers at his own expense. maybe not *that* useful since you'd rarely be able to outright save someone's life that way without basically killing yourself as a result, but it's an idea.
Maid of plains: lady from whiterun hold, fast enough to seem to fly, gifted by Azura.
Vivec be like: "Hard to sing with a mouth full of spear, hee?"
"Azura explodes!"
Haha mud mouth. In retrospect, that would be some pretty terrifying shit to experience
Wow these battles are fought in really interesting ways😂
I wish they would add cool hybrid and weird creatures that have aedra and daedra spawns with the mortal races. And race menu options
I want that armor set with the Gjermundbu helmet.
if the nords remained as kids the world would fear their wrath
After watching this, I feel more strongly that Vivec is still alive.
I'd love if you did a what if series , if the dragon born sided with the storm cloaks, or empire. Do both lol. And go through what choices they would make and how it would affect the war against the Dominion ., Like how a dragon born who sided with ulfric and was harbenger of the companions would fight the war. . Just examples
Dragon Priests not being able to use the Thuum is the biggest plothole imo
The Dragons did not want to deal with the rulings of a kingdom. So they chose loyal followers. Why would you teach your loyal followers a way to defeat you, from a narcissistic dragon perspective?
A video idea.
The clans and caste system of the Dremora/Xivilai/Xivkyn?
