I would just like to point out that elves can naturally live 600+ years, as written in some books in the games written by Barenziah herself. It's also to be noted that the 200-300 years mentioned by some of the devs was meant as in elves often die by that time from disease or wars, not of old age. So technically 200 years is young for a dark elf
Yeah i thought it was common knowledge that the High Elves for example can live to 1,000 naturally, and most the other elves can still be 600 or more years old quite regularly.. seems a rare miss by FudgeMuppet on that one
Untrue. It varies greatly. For instance, there's a Dunmer in Skyrim working for Neloth who is just shy of 200 years old but is very old and past her working age.

So, to achieve Chim is essentially the realisation that you are a character in a video game created by Todd Howard. Huh. The apotheosis of Todd. Trippy.
In the SCP-multiverse there is an SCP 001 which deals with that realization. At the end it attacks the reader in an attempt of the written characters trying to kill the reader. I wonder if those who achieved CHIM are also tempted to kill the watchers above, us.
"weather or not Jyggalag is defeated, grey march ends with a mortal mantling Sheogorath" Actually in a ESO loremasters interview Haskil implies that when a hero attempts to mantle Sheogorath and fails to stop the grey march (which was every single case until champion of cyrodiil), that he becomes Haskil, or more accurately Haskil is the vestige of he who tried to mantle Sheogorath. When grey march ended Jyggalag simply became Sheogorath once more, they shared body/animus until shivering isles expansion.

The biggest question which Vivec constantly sought the answer to during his entire time as a demigod was whether he would float with his legs crossed or stand up straight. Legend says he never found the answer.
My brother has Asperger syndrome and we always used to be close but he's been acting really bad lately and it's driving us apart. I had a dream not long ago where me and him were playfully crawling through some small crevices in a cave system. We climbed up a high rock wall and I got to the top first. When I turned around to help him over the top, he slipped and fell a great fall. It made a crunching sound. He looked up at me with a pained face and squirmed around trying to get up. Then he died while I was screaming for him. Then I woke up. I've been trying to work with him and help him lately but we just had a huge argument that almost came to blows... I'm scared for him.
Achieving CHIM is really just learning that you're in the Matrix and like Neo, you can manipulate the world around you because you can see the code and change it to your needs.
I take things a little more literally and fourth-wall-breaking. Zero-sum and CHIM both involve realising that you're a video game character. The Dreamer is the developer and player (anybody who gets to decide what is canon - which is, according to MK, all of us), and if the Dreamer wakes (stops playing), s/he can choose to make a mod or create their own game. Destroying the Ehlnofey means deleting the game. This forces real people to wake up - but the Thalmor don't realise this doesn't include them.
Great video! One critique, however: in Morrowind, the book Ancestors and the Dunmer states this: “The Telvanni are adept masters of necromancy. They do not, however, practice necromancy upon the remains of Dark Elves. Sane Telvanni regard such practices with loathing and righteous anger. They do practice necromancy upon the remains of animals and upon the remains of Humans, Orcs, and Argonians -- who are technically no more than animals in Morrowind.” While they don’t typically practice necromancy on Dunmer, they are known for practicing it on other races. While I don’t think Telvanni longevity is necessarily necromantic in nature, to me it certainly seems a possibility.
Drew, it is amazing how you guys at Fudgemuppet can condense the vast swathes of moonsugar-like-lore into an intoxicating and addictive skooma-like video. Good on you, fellas! Please keep 'em coming.
I think I uncovered immortality through magical means in elder scrolls. Alot say that the school of restoration is the key but I believe it isn't. Restoration goes one way. Magic replicating cellular structures which grant healing. Or furthering healing that time would do in a very short time. I believe Alteration is to key. Alteration is a means of convince reality that it would be easier to serve your needs. Which is why flesh can become hard as stone, etc. Alteration school use for immortality is basically convincing reality that you are not bound to the decay of time. Or that your decay is significantly reduced.
Here’s my question: What if one of us, a player, ended up in Tamriel? Would we instantly achieve Chim or would we have to figure out how to reawaken to the reality that we are in the game?
We might remember snippets of reality, unable to make sense of what was in our heads, as our mind tries to snap us into the reality of the game world like a puzzle piece. To the natives of Tamriel, we'd seem pants-on-head crazy, mumbling about "tgm" and putting baskets on people's heads, sniggering uncontrollably while munching on a giant's toe. If we aren't able to arrive at the truth in time, we'd probably end up in the ratway and eaten by the chef.
Hehe, a good question. But I think achieving Chim is actually very easy for us. All we have to do is make a self-insert! And, of course, lore the character as just being us, with memories intact.
Fudgemuppet : I have forgotten more about the elderscolls than you will ever know. hermaeus mora sends someone so he can claim the infomation. Fudgemuppet: today we are going to learn about the exchange rate of each province in each era.
It's the same concept of H.P. Lovecraft and his blind idiot god, Azathoth, whose dreams birth all of existence. It's a relatively common storytelling trope.
26:24 This part made me realized right here that i would never be able to achieve CHIM and probably would zero-sum. I can't lucid dream even if my life depended on it. There have been times when i was asleep and dreaming, that i realize that i am asleep and dreaming and that none of it is real, and then i automatically just wake up. Im too "pragmatic" as you would say, for me the idea of lucid dreaming sounds fun, but at the same time i realize the uselessness of it all since i know none of it is real, and none of it matters.
You like movies? You like rpg games? Then you'll love lucid dreams... You're basically the director of protagonist of your story... And the question "what's the point?" isn't really valid. For what's the point of playing Skyrim... The answer is pretty similar
The irrelevance of what happens in the dream is sort of the appeal. It’s like how in GTA you can have as much fun running over npcs as you want because you know that none of it is real.

Hello fudgemuppet crew! I have been a fan of your channel for a few years. I was wondering if you could make a video on Aedric spirits such as the Magna Ge, fairies, and “Kynareth’s unseen spirits of the air” and what their role in the universe is in the popular religions of Tamriel, including the imperial cult and the St. Alessian order?
Imagine if someone tried to mix and match multiple types of immortality. Like they get a sample of Corprus and Sanguinare Vampiris that the Volkihar’s have and somehow mix them together, then they add both Lichdom and the soul absorbing power of the Ideal Masters. Pretty much what I’m thinking of is Alucard from the anime/manga Hellsing and the anime Hellsing ultimate.
Don’t they appear and disappear out of thin air randomly? Seems like a bad choice considering your soul can suddenly disappear out of existence without warning.
@@zawwin1846 Alternatively, you might just constantly reappear into existence. Like some sort of time boogeyman people never know when or if he might show up. Or if he already did.

You know, one question I’ve never heard answered in all these years is “why did the Etada or Aedra or the gods who chose to help build Nirn decide to do just that, stay?” We know what made the ones who wanted to leave but why did the other stay? Did they love us? Were they already too weak and thus had no choice? Did they think the heavens were a prison?
After the Magna-ge and magnus discovered that building nirn would make them weak they left forming the stars and sun, but the aedra and other original spirits became too weak and thus couldnt escape or leave thus becoming the divines, elnophea(?) Yea then stuff happens and the aedra dont get involved because they be sleeping i think
Hmm... I think they say the Aedra wanted to finish creating Nirn. And to me, that makes sense. Think of the et'Ada as artists, collaborating together to create a masterpiece much grander than anything any of them could achieve alone. Now in the middle of creating it, they realized that if they finish the job, they will only ever be known for this one piece of work and none of their own. (You know, like actors who get forever stuck being known only for That One Role). Some didn't want that, but some... well, if nobody stayed, what they had already done would just fall apart, it would be an effort wasted and a possible masterpiece that would never come to be. Some just thought the sacrifice worth saving it and those were the Aedra. (The difference between the Magna Ge and Daedra being that the Magna Ge were willing to help in the colab while they thought they wouldn't have to give up anything personal for it, while the Daedra were just individualists from the start who wanted to create their own stuff just how they wanted it, without the need for any compromise what-so-ever, even if it would never be as grand as what several of them could make together. And then, of course, the Daedra got all jealous of what the Aedra had created and basically became art thieves. You know, stealing souls, making parts of their realms look like places on Nirn, that sorta stuff.) Whoops, that got long. Sorry!
I think you need to make a series of mods for both Skyrim and Oblivion that add a collection of books that correlate each of your lore episodes. It would be great to find a book with the script of this video while burrowing through the bookshelves of Apocrypha
I'm not sure if you are still making them, but your "Best Black Book Powers" video kinda inspired the idea of a Champion of Herma-Mora build, like the Pactmaker or Dagon's Disciple. Name: The Seeker Race(Imperius): Breton (Stones of Galen/Shared Ancestry & Magical Bonuses) Nord/Dark Elf (Skaal/Old Way connection to Hermaeus Mora, Dark Elves have a similar connection thanks to DLC and have nice starting bonuses) Standing Stone (Andromeda): Mage Stone and/or Apprentice/Atronach late game with the Aetherial Crown. Maybe go both Apprentice and Atronach? Faith (Wintersun): Hermaeus Mora (duh) With 15% boosted self-beneficial spells and Eldritch Tomes that grant a variety of effects. Stats: 80%/20% Magicka/Health spread until you reach around 500-600 Magicka, at which point go pretty much all health, since the spells you use shouldn't cost too much Magicka thanks to reductions. Backstory: Born to a family of rather well-off citizens, your father was a merchant within the imperial city, and your mother ran an Inn, inside of which you often helped out. As you weren't the most social of people, books were your friends, and you prioritized the pursuit of basic knowledge. At one point, you saw a Wizard within the inn, coming from the College of Whispers. His magic intrigued you, but the secrecy of the College and Synod was infuriating. As such, you only self-taught yourself a few basic spells. However, that's when the dreams began. Dark masses of tentacles and eyes often appeared to you, showing images of Black Tomes and even a multi-colored one. Another image popped up, a large College within a city about to collapse. A feeling drew you towards the North, and after saying goodbye to your father and mother, you headed towards Skyrim, only to be caught on the border...however the voice appeared again, telling you to beware of "Black Wings in the Cold". This was Alduin, who accidentally liberated you. Factions: Immediately after leaving Helgen, setup the character with some novice spells and join the College of Winterhold, completing that questline. Your pursuit of knowledge may lead you to the Dark Brotherhood or maybe even the Volkihar Clan. Quests: Discerning the Transmundane, Main Quest, Dragonborn DLC, Dawnguard DLC, Undeath Lich Mod (optional), Blood on the Ice/Other quests for Magical Trinkets, Dragon Priest Quests, All Black Book Quests, College of Winterhold, the list goes on Spells/Shouts: As a general mage, you'll be taking Spells from a variety of different schools. However, there is a slight twist. In order to get the most out of your large Magicka pool, you'll be using primarily Adept level spells, for AoE damage. The exceptions are Alteration and Conjuration. Spells include Fireball, Ice Storm, Chain Lightning, Conjure Seeker, Conjure Dremora Lord, Flesh Spells, Paralyze, etc. Shouts include Bend Will, Storm Call, Summon Dragon, etc. Perks: Leave it up to you Fudgemuppet, though the skills for Leveling are Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, Enchanting, and Alchemy. Playstyle: At the start of battle, Ocato's recital (stack up Ebonyflesh, Conjure Seeker, and a Cloak Spell) should activate, and then immediately use potions to boost Magic skills and regen. The sling spells while gradually getting closer, and if Magicka runs out, switch to Keening (poison it too) to dish out damage will draining stats. If things get tough, back off and summon minions while also using healing spells. Use shouts when necessary. Powers: Any of the Black Book Powers you prefer, such as Mora's Boon. Devour from Within, Vaporize, and Ultimate Power are given by the Atronach, Apprentice, and Mage stones respectively. Gear: Aetherial Crown or Konahrik/Miraak (Headpiece) Miraak's Robes (Armor), Gloves with Fortify Magicka/One Handed, Boots with any two of the Resist Fire/Frost/Shock enchantments, Ring with Fortify Alteration and Destruction, and an Amulet with Fortify Destruction, Alteration, and Conjuration thanks to the Miracle perk.
What about “Reality’s Mortality”? either way, that is a pretty sick name for a band, especially if the band primarily makes music that’s insightful about life, death, and finding one’s purpose. Would be a great “theme” for a band, I’d think lol
Depends on the game I would say. In oblivion you get massive stat boosts for being a vampire that make any fight that doesn't happen in the sun way easier, and some good spells like invisibility and charm

Yeah i thought it was common knowledge that the High Elves for example can live to 1,000 naturally, and most the other elves can still be 600 or more years old quite regularly.. seems a rare miss by FudgeMuppet on that one
im sure literally everyone already knows that
@@SobeCrunkMonster I did not know that, only that they live a long time. Don't just assume that "Well everyone knows that" because people _don't_
Untrue. It varies greatly. For instance, there's a Dunmer in Skyrim working for Neloth who is just shy of 200 years old but is very old and past her working age.
@@mindtrait0r879 Developer oversight... There's a lot of them in Skyrim like how Septimus 0 sums when he sees the book instead of the heart of Lorhkan as he turns into ash instead of just disappearing.

"weather or not Jyggalag is defeated, grey march ends with a mortal mantling Sheogorath"
Actually in a ESO loremasters interview Haskil implies that when a hero attempts to mantle Sheogorath and fails to stop the grey march (which was every single case until champion of cyrodiil), that he becomes Haskil, or more accurately Haskil is the vestige of he who tried to mantle Sheogorath.
When grey march ended Jyggalag simply became Sheogorath once more, they shared body/animus until shivering isles expansion.

You good my guy
I had a dream where someone was forcing me to eat spaghettios but for some reason I didn’t want to
My brother has Asperger syndrome and we always used to be close but he's been acting really bad lately and it's driving us apart.

One critique, however: in Morrowind, the book Ancestors and the Dunmer states this:
“The Telvanni are adept masters of necromancy. They do not, however, practice necromancy upon the remains of Dark Elves. Sane Telvanni regard such practices with loathing and righteous anger. They do practice necromancy upon the remains of animals and upon the remains of Humans, Orcs, and Argonians -- who are technically no more than animals in Morrowind.”
While they don’t typically practice necromancy on Dunmer, they are known for practicing it on other races. While I don’t think Telvanni longevity is necessarily necromantic in nature, to me it certainly seems a possibility.

@@gavinerickson9392
Yes.

It always does my head in when I remember that even within the elder scrolls universe, the actual elder scrolls universe doesn't exist.
I feel like I'm going to zero-sum after reading that comme-
It's the same concept of H.P. Lovecraft and his blind idiot god, Azathoth, whose dreams birth all of existence. It's a relatively common storytelling trope.
It exist just pulled from culture around the world of myths and real world lore. Nothing is ever as original as we like to think…..
its as real as the rest of us
26:24 This part made me realized right here that i would never be able to achieve CHIM and probably would zero-sum.
I agree. I'm pretty nihilistic so if i lived in TES universe i would have certainly zero-summed.
You like movies? You like rpg games? Then you'll love lucid dreams... You're basically the director of protagonist of your story... And the question "what's the point?" isn't really valid. For what's the point of playing Skyrim... The answer is pretty similar
I can only lucid dream when I’m heavily intoxicated
The irrelevance of what happens in the dream is sort of the appeal.
It’s like how in GTA you can have as much fun running over npcs as you want because you know that none of it is real.
Immortality is overrated and for milk-drinkers. Sovngarde awaits.
"Art is lies"
Sovngarde is boring
Well technically being dead is a form of immortality as an age less spirit.

The Wheel has eight Spokes, one for each Divine. The Secret Tower, the I, represents Talos: the self-made god.
Actually the best lore channel I’ve listened to almost all of the Skyrim videos from the builds to the lore immaculate job you’ve created a lot of happiness for us nerd
You forgot that the Red Diamond, The Amulet of Kings, was broken during the Oblivion Crisis. Only two towers still retain their stones: Adamantia and The Throat of the World.
No matter the subject matter you present it perfectly. Keep doing gods work lol
As with many things, I always find the assertion that CHIM means the world is a dream taken too literally. It's complicated metaphysics simplified into something that's easy to understand & explain; not a bad thing really, so long as it's also understood that it's metaphor.
Take that up with the people thinking simulation theory means we exist in a literal computer program.
I love the detail you put into your videos. It’s evidence of your love.
The Auger of Obscura gives neat little insights into the many towers of Tamriel during the Psijic quests to restore the Staff of Towers in TESO.

*The elves be literally searching for the infinity stones.*
The ideal Masters have a form of immortality that is completely different from the ones you've stated similar in most respects probably to a lich
Alteration magic sounds like it would be useful way to become immortal.
Can alteration and mysticism be combined?
maybe, alteration can change shape/properties/functions of living beings so why not? Some extremely advanced spell/ritual....and imho they can be combined
I am very practical. I have no need of mysticism.
If you believe hard enough, anything is possible
Conversely, if you have yet to achieve it then your belief is too soft.
Hello fudgemuppet crew! I have been a fan of your channel for a few years. I was wondering if you
could make a video on Aedric spirits such as the Magna Ge, fairies, and “Kynareth’s unseen spirits of the air” and what their role in the universe is in the popular religions of Tamriel, including the imperial cult and the St.
Imagine using the elder scrolls as a phylactery?.
Don’t they appear and disappear out of thin air randomly? Seems like a bad choice considering your soul can suddenly disappear out of existence without warning.

You know, stealing souls, making parts of their realms look like places on Nirn, that sorta stuff.)
Whoops, that got long. Sorry!
I think you need to make a series of mods for both Skyrim and Oblivion that add a collection of books that correlate each of your lore episodes. It would be great to find a book with the script of this video while burrowing through the bookshelves of Apocrypha
you didn't have to roast the hagravens that hard.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder..

I'm not sure if you are still making them, but your "Best Black Book Powers" video kinda inspired the idea of a Champion of Herma-Mora build, like the Pactmaker or Dagon's Disciple.
Name: The Seeker
Race(Imperius): Breton (Stones of Galen/Shared Ancestry & Magical Bonuses) Nord/Dark Elf (Skaal/Old Way connection to Hermaeus Mora, Dark Elves have a similar connection thanks to DLC and have nice starting bonuses)
Standing Stone (Andromeda): Mage Stone and/or Apprentice/Atronach late game with the Aetherial Crown.
Quests: Discerning the Transmundane, Main Quest, Dragonborn DLC, Dawnguard DLC, Undeath Lich Mod (optional), Blood on the Ice/Other quests for Magical Trinkets, Dragon Priest Quests, All Black Book Quests, College of Winterhold, the list goes on
Spells/Shouts: As a general mage, you'll be taking Spells from a variety of different schools.
