Can’t wait for boethiah, She’s my favorite. Hes is just practical in my mind, but I mean shitting on all of trinimacs followers to make orcs. That is just awesome to me.
Friendly advice as someone who's been taking video editing classes, give you intro audio atleast a few frames before it starts so it doesn't cut weird like your "the" at the start
Remember, Molag Bal created vampires out of sheer spite. When he was told that his dominion over mortals would always be subservient to the inevitable fate of death itself, Molag Bal gave his creations immortality so that death couldn't steal them.
Peryite is underappreciated. Peryite is basically the head maid or hyper competent assistant who makes sure everything is running smoothly, running around making sure everyone and everything is working and doing thier jobs and sleeps maybe one hour a day. He is considered "weak" because he's usually far too busy to bother interacting with the mortal world, so we rarely see him or his actions.
Oh my word, so according to the Khajiit Mehrunes Dagon is the embodiment of the kid who builds an impressive city out of his toys only to then pretend to be a rampaging monster to knock it all down!
Sounds like the Sim City-Game to me..I always built a City just to try out many different Ways to bring it down (Alien Invasion, Tsunami, Wildfire, Earthquake etc.) :D :D
@@zagzig3734 True. The Games only water stuff down. Morrowind lived up to its name in the Lore. Old Lore for Cyrodil and Skyrim was cooler in Morrowind than the actual games they have made later on
Hermaeus Mora was sold so short in Oblivion, but Skyrim made him easily become my favorite Daedric Prince. Next to Sheogorath and Clavicus Vile, of course. Hopefully we can explore more realms of Oblivion in TES 6.
@@THEINTERNETANOMALY we will it just will be coming after Starfield, trailer has been out and they have been saying they will release a ES6 but it won’t be for some time especially with Starfield
Well, Elder scrolls online is going to be adding a DLC based around him. SO I can imagine they be adding a lot of lore to Hermaeus Mora. Also, the new class is kinda like an acolyte of Hermaeus Mora, so thats interesting.
I'd enjoy a look into the relationships BETWEEN Daedric Princes; (perhaps even lesser daedra for that matter) which Princes dislike others, or enjoy their company and why. Or why events like what happened to Jyggalag aren't more common. do the 16 wish to avoid heavy conflict, are they simply too powerful, are they constantly on the defence waiting for an assault? Perhaps Peryite was the last to try, or even once much more powerful, and thus he has "earned" his position as touched on in the video.
I agree. The daedra are their best when they are interacting with each other. Many of the interrelationships are what define their endearing attributes.
We only have Jyggalag's word that he was cursed by the other 16. The likelier explanation is that Jyggalag is another facet of Sheogorath's madness in the form of paranoid megalomania; Sheo and Jyggy are Jekyll and Hyde without the other princes giving a toss.
I think, in a way, Jyggalag *IS* Madness/Insanity as well. Think about it. He gets shattered into Uncle Sheo, builds up the Isles, then the Greymarch happens, Isles gets destroyed and built in Jyggalag's image, shattering happens again, rinse and repeat. He's doing the same thing over and over again.
@@prometheanrebel3838 Pretty much. His backstory is his insanity expressing itself as paranoid megalomania. Or maybe he provoked all his kin into ganging up on him, so it's less "I was too powerful" and more "EEEEEEveryone was pissed off" l.
@@WhoMadeThisBurger69 We defeated him to break the cycle of the Greymarch. He was not killed, just severed his binding to Sheogorath. It's like in ESO when you kill Molag Bal in Coldharbor but it only severely weakens him. Love those shiny statues for each Daedric prince, they're such an eye candy when you find them in game, highly recommend them, they add to the environment a lot, can't wait for the updated Daedric princes videos!
I don't play ESO or even know that there's a statue for Peryite in that game, but his little dwarven pot 'statue' in Skyrim isn't as magnificent as you might think.
I like to think that Herma Mora's knowledge in his Black Books doesn't drive someone insane, per se. More that it lifts the veil of what that person perceives is reality and gains a higher existence of thought, understanding the world in such a way that their actions *seem* insane to the 'normal peoples' but is the true truth to how to live, think, and act. I point to Septimus Signus in Skyrim as a case-in-point. He *seems* insane but also clearly shows an uncanny intelligence in things that, while we may not be able to unravel, pulls at your mind in such a way to wonder what truth he may be speaking.
I think I may be touched by Hermaeus Mora. I called a neutron star a "heavy ass cancer lighthouse" and my friend looked at me like I had lost my mind 💀
Exactly my thought. It's possible that Hermaeus Mora might reveal concepts like Chim, Mantling, and the Dream of the Godhead, all of which are true about the fabric of their reality yet would sound like pure madness to an ordinary person.
Eldritch insanity, which is obviously what his gifts bring, was best explained to me like this: Imagine an ant crawling across a motherboard, blissfully unaware, and incapable of being aware of what it moved across, just enjoying the heat it produced and perhaps the colors of the components to it's sight. Now take that ant, yank it's consciousness up to a human level, give it a single eternal moment to understand not only how small it is, but what it is that it stands upon truly is, and what a simple motherboard might be used to do, give it enough of a moment for that information to take hold, for it to truly understand it all........ and then slam it back down into the body of the ant. Back into a being physically incapable of understanding anything it just learned, but let it keep it's memories, let it remember that it did understand, although it has no way to even communicate or expose even the very smallest fraction of any of the knowledge due to its own physical limitations. That is what Eldritch gods do to people.
I have the base foundation of a theory regarding the relationship between the aedra and daedra. The premise is that each of the nine divines (counting Shezarr in place of Talos because who cares) has two daedric counterparts. Of course, we are missing an extra daedric prince to make the numbers work out, but whatever. For example, Julianos's counterparts are Hermaeus Mora and Sheogorath because all three gods are built around the idea of the power of the mind. Julianos represents the "good" aspects of knowledge, education, and wisdom, whereas Mora and Sheo are taking those things too far and suffering the consequences. In a similar vein, the "outdoors" gods are Kynareth for all the pleasant and happy things in nature, while Hircine and Peryite are the wild and ugly sides. We've got Dibella being reflected in Mephala and Namira, being perversions of sex and the decay of once-beautiful things. And Zenithar's work ethic is squandered by Sanguine going out and partying or wealth being stolen instead of earned with Nocturnal. I could list out all the ones I've pieced together, but that would be wasting time because I don't really have anywhere to go with it other than "hey, look at these tenuous connections I made." There's no *So what?* for me to pull out of this, but I think there _is_ something here.
Regardless of whether this idea holds any weight in the long run or not, I think it’s pretty cool! I like the idea of each trinity of Gods showing the many facets to different concepts. Imo, it also adds some depth to the (D)Aedra. Not sure how it would add up with the creation myth, but like I said, it’s a snazzy idea regardless! Something I’d love to see explored more. Since Arkay is the Aedra of natural cycles & all, perhaps Mehrunes Dagon could be a counterpart to him, as he is the Deadric Prince of ambition & change, forwarding the progression of cycles in a way (dunno if that made sense).
I'd be very interested in seeing the other divines' counterparts in this theory, as well as the divine that's supposedly "missing" a daedric prince. I'm making a D&D campaign based on TES and I'd like to use this in my interpretation of the pantheon. Maybe I could fill in the missing daedra in my story, like a villain who is destined to ascend and be the final daedric prince unless the players stop him.

The daedric princes are awesome because they’re not afraid to make themselves known yet they still have an air of mystery despite that. They actually interact with the player and give you cool items
Mandragorasprout's statues were literally the first things I downloaded for my SE modded run. They are so goshdarn amazing! Love the feature in this one, guys.
Do we actually know that all the Daedra Lords sat out the creation of Mundus? The assumption is the Aedra lost their power in the creation of Nirn, but then how does former Aedra like Malacath and Meridia have the power of Daedra Princes? How does Lorkhan's heart have enough power for the Tribunal to defeat Daedra Princes if Lorkhan used up most of his power in the creation of Nirn? We also have legends where Hircine, Azura, Boethiah, and even Mephala were allies of Lorkhan. Why would they be allies of Lorkhan if they didn't believe in his project and refused to contribute their power to it.
The Tribunal power thing could be because of CHIM, because Camoran was right and Lorkhan is daedric in essence, or simply because a daedra can slip up. The Lorkhan allying with Daedra is basically because he has a common essence with them, so their goals could intersect a lot, and why didn't they participate? I think that the fact that everyone but Lorkhan was Anuic has something to do with it. Probably Lorkhan specifically chose to trick/convince Anuic entities for some pragmatic reason (their orderly persona keeping his new realm? Their presence helping to fulfill the psijiic endeavor?) so it makes sense why the daedra weren't present in creation, however you've raised some excellent questions!
Presumably Trinimac absorbed some of Boethia's power after being consumed, regaining power and untethering from Mundus, but corrupting him into a Daedric Prince. Meridia as a Magna Gee, fled Mundus along with Magnus and the others, and as such maintained her power. She now resides in Oblivion with the other Daedric Princes after being cast out from Aetherius. The heart would grant greater power as the magical core of Mundus along with Princes not having as much power and influence in Mundus as they would in their own realms. They'd more so side with Lohrkhan as he is the creator of the stage that grants them some amusement from their eternal boredom, with some even possesing admiration of his treachery (Boethia).
It is known that Daedric Princes are stronger on their own plane of Oblivion. Since Nirn is made from the bones of Lorkhan so Nirn is essentially his plane of Oblivion so his heart would give the tribunal immense power. Malacath is known to be the weakest Daedric Prince I'm sure the reason you stated is why. Don't forget the Aedra aren't completely powerless (( Oblivion Spoiler )) look at what Akatosh did in Oblivion.
@M4NI444K actually it is said Peryite is "one of the weakest Daedric Princes" that has does not mean he is the weakest Daedric Prince. Malacath is described as weak and vengeful in an in-game book called varieties of faith.
for meridia it simple, a daedra is just a prince who either didn't wanted to participate in the creation of Nirn like Molag ball , Mephalla,... or participate but did learn of Lorkhan plan soon enough to not be absorbed completly by Nirn like Azura (that why she hates him so much), we can assume that Meridia is in the second part
Daedric Prince of Memes was just perfect as a description for Sheogorath 😂 I actually really like Malacath now, your description of him really helped me to understand how unique the Orcs are, since I've always just considered them another race, nothing different.
I always found Clavicus's separation to be a psyche based separation. Brabus seems to be the one with caution, foresight, and the want to act on those- whilst Clavicus acts with whimsy, a blissful vagueness on everything, and a want to just delight in scamming people. Perhaps he wanted to be free of these parts of himself but was aware that without them he'd be frequently scammed. So he made those thoughts and qualities to an annoying, barking dog, one that can be ignored should he wish.
I never understood how changing the Chimer was a curse. It’s not like the other races revile them for their skin color. If anything they just became more unique and badass so it’s hardly a punishment. Plus Azura herself appears as a Dunmer in Morrowind and other places. If she thought looking like that was a punishment she would always appear as a Chimer instead. In my headcanon it makes more sense if the Dwemer looked like the Dunmer do now. So Azura went “hey the Dwemer messed with the heart too so, if you want to emulate those blasphemers, your ancient frenemies, then go ahead and look like them too you ungrateful bastards.”
I mean the nords hate them for their skin colour, and looking all fucked up like discount dremora probably helped some argonian propaganda. Dunmer already had a complex and alien culture as chimer, now they have an even more alien culture and they look like actual fucking aliens since no other race in the elder scrolls has grey skin(the argonians rarely have grey scales and they are isolationists), except maybe the rieklings but those dont exactly have a great reputation. This explains all the racism in morrowind too, if everyone hates you might as well hate everyone back.
@@calebsmith6792 And the Altmer merchant in the same city explains exactly why they are relegated to the Grey Quarter, while she owns a house in the better part of town: It's not racism that is holding them back, it's their own arrogance. She earned her station quite rapidly after moving to Windhelm from Summerset by adapting to the local culture. The Dunmer refuse to adapt, thus they are treated poorly by the nords. On top of this, the White Phial is also run by an Altmer (well, at least until he dies from disease). Note that this does not mean that there aren't racism in Windhelm. But it is not as prevalent as the Dunmer of the city claims and believes. Indeed, most Nords of the city doesn't really care what race you are, as long as you are pulling your weight.
@@Krishnath.Dragon sorry are you really trying to argue that "immigrants will be shunted off to a ghetto if they don't assimilate to the local culture" is somehow not a racist idea?
The first Elder Scrolls I played was Oblivion, and I fell in love with the series. I remember having an Oblivion file with a little under 500 hrs on it, spent so much time reading the books in that game. Lol
@@nedflanders9045 tbh i would rather raid Oblivion portals than kill dragons, Oblivion seemed to retain a bit of what made Morrowind special, with its' daedric ruins here and there, but Skyrim feels way too much like a regular western-style RPG, with the Daedra hidden away behind sidequests
Wow, your writing for the script is great! That flow into why Azura comes first in the order listing was really good. You just earned yourself a sub sir.
I know the day will never come, But it would be amazing to see a list with all the lore friendly/immersive mods you guys use. i feel like if i could get a modlist up to the Fudgemuppet lore standards it would feel like I'm actually in a fully fleshed tamrielic province lol. much love y'all
I do like that your videos touch on how any of the Deadra aren't just fully evil or good, they are complex beings with their own goals and methods of attaining those goals. Granted, some lean more to being evil, but in each, you can find a positive aspect, just like with the more good leaning, you can find negative. I don't really like how Skyrim tried to boil them down so much into simplicity that most people just think that they are pure evil. They are so much more then that.
i mean, true, but they do trend towards more “extremes” if that makes sense. Even in universe they are by and large looked at sidelong for often good reason. compared to the more “stable” aedra. not saying they are all evil by a long shot, but there is something to the divide.
Have you guys ever made a video of everything we knew about the province of Skyrim before the game was released? I think it would be interesting to see misconceptions and changes made to the lore.
Are there any plans to continue the "Is it Worth It?" series in regards to daedric cults? I'd like to hear ya'lls thoughts on Hircine and Hermaeous Mora particularly. EDIT: if TES6 is indeed set in Elseweyr or Hammerfell, it would be interesting if they included a plot regarding the overthrow of the resident Thalmor governors. We know that Hammerfell eventually gains it's independence, but as of 4E 201 they're still under Aldmeri control, and the khajiit are firmly under Dominion jurisdiction to the point they're used as footsoldiers by them.
Wait, how do we know they gain their independence but they’re still under dominion control? Legit question. I remember them continuing the fight after the white gold concordat and gaining their independence during the time of Skyrim.
@@grd6513 They did kick out the dominion, as the lands the dominion held there are freed from the dominion. Sure, they didn't destroy the army, but the redguards inflicted a huge defeat on the dominion, which had to go back to lick its wounds.
OMG thank you for another lore video! I was feeling like these types of videos had become a lost treasure of a bygone era never to be seen again or at least not with any regularity. Please keep these coming from time to time.
Thanks for the refresher. Would love more detailed accounts of the princes. When I was watching I was thinking the same thing, that I love your old videos but assume there's new info and interpretation after all these years so definitely do more videos please!
If I had to choose, I'd pick Hircine. He's fair with a decent moral compass, not to mention that he actually cares about his followers and provides to those loyal to him in various ways with little to no strings attached, be it listening and answering to the prayers of hunters or supplying entertainment/enrichment to his werebeasts in his realm by bringing in animals native to Tamriel for them to hunt.
I've always viewed the splitting of clavicus vile similar to the story of sheogorath, in the anniversary edition, you can meet sheogorath in the shivering isles, going by the name Theodor gash (anagram for sheogorath) alot of the lines he has refer to missions done by the player in oblivion, (the theory is the player character takes over as sheogorath so the original can go do his own thing and every now and again tries to take his place back as the player character has gotten to strong) what if clavicus did the same thing with barbus but they ended up teaming up instead and achieving dual god status sorta two sides of the same coin type thing
If you ask me, the best to serve under would be Namira. Think about it. Always good food, sick whenever you want to be, become inconspicuous keeping you outta trouble. And slugs and spiders are pretty cute actually. The others are all about 'serve, love me, kill that, die and/or suffer' but she's like a somehow old, outcast granny, that smells a bit like pee but who'll hide you from the bullies and serve you strange meatpies in her rotten shack. Sounds like a good time for me🤔
I prefer Nocturnal. During your time on earth you would enjoy her blessings, and once dead, you will protect her domain as a spirit. You can do whatever you want- as long as you stay within and around her temple. At the end, once you have defended the Twilight Sepulcher (and lets be honest with that amount of Bandits in Skyrim there is gonna be some idiot who tries looting the ruins), you will have fulfilled your end of the bargain and be able to enter her realm of Oblivion. "Walk with the shadows" You are the one who guides your friend's hand during a battle to victory, you influence the luck around your loved ones and their ancestors, from a guard conveniently looking away if a kid decides to steal some food to a master lock opening like it's nothing.
Expanded lore? Yes please!! I especially look forward to hearing about the more obscured princes like Meridia, Peryite or Namira and get Not only a multicultural perspective but also some of your personal theories! Speculate away!
I love, love, LOVE that the cannon ESO information was included here. It's some of the most interesting lore in the Elder Scrolls, and that's saying A LOT!
Fudgemuppet, do you think it's accurate to say Azura is basically the spirit of "being in the present"? I think it speaks to her themes of twilight, thresholds and beauty, and her nature of punishing those who look away while graciously blessing those who accept her, and teaching them to love themselves.
I'm always here for more Daedric lore! Personally I'd quite like an examination of the 16 Accords of Madness. There are methods to his madness and a surprising amount can be learned from the Accords if you're willing to stop and think...
What makes Elder Scrolls lore so amazing is there's enough to fill a college course. And a lot of it is able to be debated, a thing that's definitely intentional to make the world feel more real as our various religions and mythologies are also filled with misinterpretations leading to debates.
Evocative, poetic, entertaining and memorable - this video is a masterpiece. As someone relatively new to the Elder Scrolls, to me all those Aedra, Daedra and whatnot seemed like a confusing mess of arbitrary names. But this and other videos of yours changed that fundamentally, even stirred my fascination. Thank you for enriching my Skyrim experience!
There are so many realms of oblivion, it's only a matter of time until a new Deadric Prince is born. As the crazy lore of TES online keeps going, this prince is likely to be about industrial progress, similar to jyggalag, but more centered on man and mer created technology
If you were isekai’d into the Elder Scrolls universe at the time of Skyrim, what will you do? I would immediately try to contact Hermaeus Mora to see if he know anything
Would be really. I always disregard them as low live savages barely worthy of arrows, but looks like they got some interesting unique ideas that might explain there behavior and makes it more interesting when removing them from nord land and hunting there spiritual leaders to make enchanting potions from there fingernails
Oh man there's so much to this impressive story. Skyrim is incredible, I played for 2 years straight stopped for almost 10 years and now continuing where I left... And I should consider going back to Starwars battlefront for ps2
All of the daedra represents portions of humanity, the aedra just took their knowledge and peaced out to different plains of existence. As a kid i read through books in morrowind to get skill sets and as an adult i have a bounty of knowledge i need to know more of lmao.
Would be interesting to speculate the Et'Ada who'd participate on both sides of the next Dawn War between the Et'Ada. The ultimate battle of Gods and Mortals, fighting over the very nature of the Aurbis itself, encompassing the existence of the Mundus. Here's another pretty interesting thing to note; Lorkhan has quite a few Daedric allies, further placing into his darker affiliation. If another Dawn War started, the only Daedric Prince's I'd expect to possibly join Auriel would be Malacath and Meridia, who are of course Elven Aedra at heart. Maybe Jyggalag as well, a more Orderly diety is who he'd likely chose over the more chaotic Lorkhan. Mehrunes Dagon as an ally to help destroy Mundus would also be nice to see as well, for he's attempted it once before... and he's the descendant of Magnus and the Magne Ge so, he has Elven ties as well.
Malacath wouldn't join the Aedra who stabbed him in the back for "losing his purity". I do like the Order of Walking Flame's belief that Dagon is the agent of the Magna Ge to undo Magnus' flawed creation. It is more believable than him being a agent of Hope.
@@badluck5647 I wouldn't say they "stabbed him the back", that was actually Mephala, if we're talking specifics. And considering he was tossed and banished by Boethia to a Realm of Oblivion, I don't see why he wouldn't be open to joining his old friend and king Auriel to once again combat Lorkhan and his forces, just like they did in the Dawn times. But of course, yeah I suppose on how one makes distinctions. Although, Dagon being a "catalyst for hope" still does fit in a way, as his purpose to undo failed creations could've been seen as a hopeful endeavor by the Magne Ge, but I saw where you're coming from as well. Or maybe, as Drew mentioned one time, he was able to have Hope as a Virtue since he may have been made in part to help the slaves of the Dreugh Kings, assuming Lyg was a part of an early Mundus project. Either way, yeah Dagon joining Auriel's side makes sense, but I wish to also speculate on other Et'Ada, if you don't mind. Any list you could have in your head? We don't have to include all Et'Ada, but the more the merrier. Some like Molag may just join the side he thinks will win, I feel that's his sort of mindset, and others would have their own plans for the winners, like Sheogorath, so, not all would be involved of course
Although the dawn war would be cool to explore I think Mehrunes Dagon wouldn't be an ally to either, he was created to make the concept of Time a cyclical force, as well as everything in Mundus (i.e : inertia, momentum, seasons, etc.) It also seems that Auriel and Lorkhan are no longer enemies because of Alessia and the Makhurati. (Akatosh is the union of the two)
@@thalmoragent9344 I don't see Trinimac/Malacath in the current Altmer pantheon. The snooty High Elves shunned Trinimac and his followers. Malacath isn't friends to non-Orc elves. At least, the Reachmen (followers of Lorkh) consider Malacath an ally.
@@badluck5647 The Reachmen don't see Malacath the same way most other races do, and in fact, often don't see Orcs as his own people, just a race he sends to "test them". There are more religions, like even with the Khajit and Nords, that place Malacath into the role of what Trinimac also represents, so... And while it's a shame Malacath isn't showcased with the Aldmeri, it's because to them, Trinimac's demise was the end to that now tragic Warrior, and since Trinimac/Malacath was banished to Oblivion, he technically no longer resides alongside his Aedric kin in Aetherius. And since Trinimac's Sphere (while mostly the same at its core) was altered once he became Malacath, you could argue that would be something "traditional" the Altmer would see as altered and therefore not the same. They see he's resided with his Orcs and a new way of life that most Orcs live, not quite like their Aldmeri ancestors. Still, if the War of the Dawn as we know it were to have a Round 2, he wouldn't ally with Lorkhan and his allies (and Malacath has inherited the enemies of his previous self, Trinimac, since hes technically just the same being). And some Orcs still worship Trinimac's old Sphere instead of Malacath's newer
you know, after listening to all the other vids about the Daedric lords you guys have, I've realized 2 things: 1) alot of them have overlapping spheres which makes sense why almost none of them get along. 2) every single one of them either has at least ONE aspect of Jyggalag residing in their being or personality or however you wanna describe it, OR he outright antis them entirely. ironically the only other prince capable of standing up to him would probably be Mehrunes since he's a nonstop revolutionary and Jyg is all about perfect order.
Personally I'm interested in more indepth videos on each of the princes, also I would be interested in a similarly formatted video as this on each of the gods, like talos and mara (and others I can't remember XD)
This video has me thinking about the way the Dark Elves have split some of the Daedra into Good and Bad Daedra (I don't remember the name that each side has). What if you did a video that went through and theorized what side every other Daedric Prince would be on. I think Meridia and Nocturnal would probably be Good Daedra. Namira and Sanguine would probably be Bad Daedra. Vaermina and Peryite would also probably be Bad Daedra. I would actually say Hermaeus Mora would probably be considered Good oddly enough. I'm not sure about Hircine, Clavicus Vile, and Jyggalag. I want to put Jyggalag opposite of Sheogorath, but that doesn't seem right either. Hircine would probably be Good, but I'm not sure. I really have no idea about Clavicus Vile.
My man did his ESO homework... which is definitely respectable considering how MASSIVE that game is in term of scale and how much lore is being treated by it alone
I have a great IDEA for you guy hear me out you should do deep dive an speculation around locations for instance bromjunaar the capital of skyrim during the dragon cult of reachmean shrines dotted around the reach or old hroldan just a idea There are a thousand locations with little side lore that you can dive into especially the eso locations i think itll be good fresh content for you guys. love you videos by the way big fan of the fudgemuppet
It gets me everytime how complex and detailed the lore is in that game like you could play for weeks or months and there would still be some Hidden World or some quest to discover.
I am loyal follower to Herma Mora. He feeds me with knowledge, and even though my hunger for it only increases, I long for the next page and the next book and the next fudgemuppet video.
Personally, Hermaeus Mora would have to be my favorite. Every time he speaks, it seems so ominous, like he knows something you don't. Also I love the eldrich horror style of apocrypha and his design in skyrim is almost terrifying
I think Peryite is one of the strongest Daedra, all the other Daedra want to keep his following down by lying that he is weak. I mean, he’s literally depicted as a dragon. (I think Sheogorath is stronger though).
and one thing that made him strong in fact is that his followers are not mortals from Nirn but dremoras thay live by contract and administration and for them he is the god of administration so yeah a good reserve of followers
He's a dragon as a private joke against Akatosh. Peryite isn't weak - that generally seems to be a mortal perception. His areas of concern generally lie with Oblivion itself, and his dominion over pestilence is generally self-governing, so he doesn't really need to exert power on Nirn.
To say that any one element of the elder scrolls is the most interesting is doing a disservice to all the other most interesting facets of this universe. There are just so many fascinating things to ponder and explore
His voice was super annoying though. If you listen to his pronunciation on words that end in “s” sounds it gets really annoying. I can’t even listen to him anymore
Been subed for a minute. Seen ut damn near from the ground up im proud to say youre one of my favorite UA-camrs man. You gave me a new way to look at things by showing me i can be anyone i wish to be in the game and irl
I think it would be cool to see a "good" version of Vaermina. Like a Mr. Sandman dream god sort of thing. Instead of just nightmares it could be good dreams and visions through dreams. A sleepy god if you will.
I’ve always been kind of intimidated by the amount of lore in this game but this definitely helps introduce someone who isn’t familiar with the Daedric Princes 😁 would love to see the in depth videos if you decide to do them!
Daedric Princes explained in one sentence: Azura: Fairy Godmother from Shrek. Boethiah: Sexy murder time. Clavicus Vile: Let's make a deal! Hermaeus Mora: Cthulhu's goofy cousin. Hircine: For tomorrow, we hunt. Malacath: You look a little ashy. Mehrunes Dagon: Begone, Satan! Mephala: Shhhh. Meridia: Turn off your high beams, jackass! Molag Bal: I SAID BEGONE, SATAN!!!!! Namira: You did *_WHAT_* with that corpse??? Nocturnal: Lucky me. Peryite: Can I play with you guys? Sanguine: Y'all wanna get high? Sheogorath: *_puts on toilet glasses_* "The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side!" Jyggalag: "That's a right triangle, you idiot!" Vaermina: Dream a Little dream of me.
I like Molag Bal, simply because he is straightforward and honest about his spheres of influence & he respects those who are strong. Unlike Mephala, Boethiah, Nocturnal, Namira, Mehrunes Dagon, Peryite, and Vaermina. They use deceit and trickery to achieve their goals/desires which I consider far more evil. While others such as Hircine, Molag Bal, Azura, Meridia, and Malacath are honest about their spheres of influence and about their goals/deals. The more neutral types such as: Sanguine, Sheogorath, Clavicus Vile, Hermeus Mora, and Jyggalag. I respect them because they are mostly honest about their deals/desires, and if it ends up being bad for you it's mainly because you didn't question enough or think enough about them (basically be careful what you wish for) they are the epitome of Chaotic Neutral.
Sheogorath is neutral? Dude is malicious compliance personified. He's every bit as malicious as Bal, only he hides it better. It's also hilarious that you call Vile neutral, considering he and Barbas pulled the wool over Vivec's eyes in ESO: MW and were aiming for the Clockwork City, and then it's revealed he was working with Mephala and Nocturnal (who outplayed EVERYONE). Peryite is hardly deceptive; he's up front about his goals in every appearance. Mehrunes Dagon is also pretty blunt; he's a very capable schemer, but he's not exactly hiding what he is. Meridia is, ironically, not "mostly honest". Just look at poor Darien, or the fact that she supported the Slaaneshi cultists that were the Ayleids.
@@LordMortanius I'm basing things off the encounters in Oblivion and Skyrim and then general lore to close some gaps based off of what is mentioned in these and other Elder Scrolls lore videos. As for the Clavicus Vile thing you mentioned he was simply offered a better deal. As for Sheogorath he is neutral because he is "Mad". Peryite is deceptive to his cultists/followers look at his quest in Skyrim, he gave that person a mission yet then turned on him simply because his followers had a different version of the same goal. As for Meridia, comparatively speaking she is Honest. She may support bad stuff but she is clear about disliking undead and darkness.
@@pqibkpq0o917kalj He is honest about being that and his other spheres of influence. He doesn't try to hide it and claim to be anything else. Also like I said he respects those who are strong in their own right, look at Harkon. Harkon did a bunch of evil things in Molag Bal's name, and Molag granted him his request making it clear about what the pact involved and that if he eventually did get killed his soul would go to Coldharbour. Same for getting Molag's Mace in Skyrim he doesn't pretend to be anything else and he doesn't get mad if you obey him in the most defiant way. While Mehrunes Dagon's Razor he gets mad at you if you obey him in the most defiant way AND no matter what he always summons a couple of Dremora to attack you! So yes, Molag Bal is honest which I prefer.
@@morrigankasa570 The irony is that Bal doesn't actually respect Harkon or the player. Canonically, Bal respects those with the strength to defy him (the Vestige, Lamae Bal); the Dovahkiin has just established himself as another slave, a mouthy one perhaps, amongst the other millions Bal has. "I admire your tenacity, mortals." "Your time in my realm made you strong, as expected." "Good. I grant you permission to strengthen yourself with my minions." "The sacrifices you make are all done in my name. You are and will always be my servant." "It is you who will strike the final blow at our enemies. You are almost ready." Harkon? Bal gives him vampirism because Harkon begged him like a dog and proceeds to not give a fuck at all afterwards.

@@prometheanrebel3838 As the saying goes, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results."
I hope that Jyggalag finally is fleshed out as a full daedric prince in TES:6 since he has seperated from Sheogorath during the last graymarch.
ESO apparently decided to be a bunch of cunts and aay "Oh breaking the cycle is a lie that's just part of the cycle" so I hope that is ignored.
I mean jyggalag was destroyed
@@WhoMadeThisBurger69 We defeated him to break the cycle of the Greymarch. He was not killed, just severed his binding to Sheogorath. It's like in ESO when you kill Molag Bal in Coldharbor but it only severely weakens him.
Defiantly true, no one can stumble upon a Dwemer creation and truly figure it out so quickly as he did.
Exactly my thought. It's possible that Hermaeus Mora might reveal concepts like Chim, Mantling, and the Dream of the Godhead, all of which are true about the fabric of their reality yet would sound like pure madness to an ordinary person.
Eldritch insanity, which is obviously what his gifts bring, was best explained to me like this:
Imagine an ant crawling across a motherboard, blissfully unaware, and incapable of being aware of what it moved across, just enjoying the heat it produced and perhaps the colors of the components to it's sight.
Too much experience all at once. like taking a tab at a festival.
I'd definitely say that Dibella's counterparts are Azura and Sanguine. Vanity and pleasure.
I'm fairly certain there's some kind of star chart of mundus that describes exactly what you're talking about

Daedric Prince of Memes was just perfect as a description for Sheogorath 😂
I actually really like Malacath now, your description of him really helped me to understand how unique the Orcs are, since I've always just considered them another race, nothing different.
I can't help but see them as followers of excrement
She made them dark skinned. They like slavery. You see how this doesnt work well together?
I mean the nords hate them for their skin colour, and looking all fucked up like discount dremora probably helped some argonian propaganda. Dunmer already had a complex and alien culture as chimer, now they have an even more alien culture and they look like actual fucking aliens since no other race in the elder scrolls has grey skin(the argonians rarely have grey scales and they are isolationists), except maybe the rieklings but those dont exactly have a great reputation. This explains all the racism in morrowind too, if everyone hates you might as well hate everyone back.
the Dunmer literally live in a ghetto in Windhelm

It's some of the most interesting lore in the Elder Scrolls, and that's saying A LOT!
His voice in eso provides the chills
Fudgemuppet, do you think it's accurate to say Azura is basically the spirit of "being in the present"? I think it speaks to her themes of twilight, thresholds and beauty, and her nature of punishing those who look away while graciously blessing those who accept her, and teaching them to love themselves.

I'm always here for more Daedric lore! Personally I'd quite like an examination of the 16 Accords of Madness. There are methods to his madness and a surprising amount can be learned from the Accords if you're willing to stop and think...
Yes! Please make a series of videos about each Daedric Prince.
What makes Elder Scrolls lore so amazing is there's enough to fill a college course. And a lot of it is able to be debated, a thing that's definitely intentional to make the world feel more real as our various religions and mythologies are also filled with misinterpretations leading to debates.
would absolutely love in depth videos on the daedric princes.
Only been playing Skyrim for almost 3 years and there’s so much more lore to learn, absolutely crazy
Daedric princes are some of the most interesting parts of TES lore, imo, id love to see more on Malacath too
Molag bal is interesting but I agree the daedric princes are certainly some of the most interesting but I’m more interested in the planes of oblivion
We need more of Malacath for sure
Evocative, poetic, entertaining and memorable - this video is a masterpiece.
As someone relatively new to the Elder Scrolls, to me all those Aedra, Daedra and whatnot seemed like a confusing mess of arbitrary names. But this and other videos of yours changed that fundamentally, even stirred my fascination.
Thank you for enriching my Skyrim experience!
Dude, there’s no doubt! We want, nay, need more daedrology 101.
I love these! Recently, I've come back to your channel to get help with the lore centered around races to determine what I want to rp as in ESO.
I would definetly want to know more about nocturnal's 'spheres' of influence
( ° )( ° )
There are so many realms of oblivion, it's only a matter of time until a new Deadric Prince is born. As the crazy lore of TES online keeps going, this prince is likely to be about industrial progress, similar to jyggalag, but more centered on man and mer created technology
Daedric Puns! I'll go first!
Which prince likes a low collared shirt?
Clavicles Vile
I love your channel guys I’ve watched it grow for like 5 years now and it’s been a pleasure
Funny coincidence. Just now, during the discussion of Sheogorath, I just happened to pick up a copy of Myths of Sheogorath while looting Myrwatch.
You guys are hands down my favorite Elder scrolls lore group. You should team up with the epic Nate and a mod maker to make lore accurate mods
Yesss!! I missed these lore videos!!
Can’t stop watching your videos, I’ll never stop consuming elder scrolls content
11-12 years later this games lore across literal generations is just insanely impressive
...ever heard of warhammer 40k?
@@AnimeAsh2002 I have, just speaking on this game specifically
@@SCSAsJorts oh I know, I was just making a bad excuse for a joke......anyway have you heard of the high elves?
Yes pls new daedrology vids. Channel history shows they keep getting better and better. And I can never have enough daedrology lore.
If you were isekai’d into the Elder Scrolls universe at the time of Skyrim, what will you do? I would immediately try to contact Hermaeus Mora to see if he know anything
I'm incredibly curious about a lot of things so Apocrypha would be a very tempting place to go
I loved Barbas on the Clavicus Vile quest. He saved my ass a bunch of times when I blundered into a Draugr dungeon I was way too underleveled for.
When is the next *Gods Explained* episode?
The Reachmen chapter would be awesome!
Would be really. I always disregard them as low live savages barely worthy of arrows, but looks like they got some interesting unique ideas that might explain there behavior and makes it more interesting when removing them from nord land and hunting there spiritual leaders to make enchanting potions from there fingernails
@@georgemurdock7670 You're a bit odd
@@badluck5647 whys that
Oh man there's so much to this impressive story.
Skyrim is incredible, I played for 2 years straight stopped for almost 10 years and now continuing where I left...
And I should consider going back to Starwars battlefront for ps2
The correlations between the daedra and the Greek pantheon is interesting!
@@badluck5647
I wouldn't say they "stabbed him the back", that was actually Mephala, if we're talking specifics.
@@badluck5647
The Reachmen don't see Malacath the same way most other races do, and in fact, often don't see Orcs as his own people, just a race he sends to "test them".
Muppet you really have become a never ending source of new lore and content and I’m all for it!
People keep focusing on Sheogorath as the Daedric lord of madness and keep forgetting that he's also the lord of creativity.
Remember the time Sheogorath created musical instruments from the body parts of some random, unfortunate woman?
you know, after listening to all the other vids about the Daedric lords you guys have, I've realized 2 things:
1) alot of them have overlapping spheres which makes sense why almost none of them get along.
Never in my life thought I would end up appreciating Boethiah. Good work, sir.
I have a great IDEA for you guy hear me out you should do deep dive an speculation around locations for instance bromjunaar the capital of skyrim during the dragon cult of reachmean shrines dotted around the reach or old hroldan
just a idea There are a thousand locations with little side lore that you can dive into especially the eso locations i think itll be good fresh content for you guys. love you videos by the way
big fan of the fudgemuppet
It gets me everytime how complex and detailed the lore is in that game like you could play for weeks or months and there would still be some Hidden World or some quest to discover.
I am loyal follower to Herma Mora. He feeds me with knowledge, and even though my hunger for it only increases, I long for the next page and the next book and the next fudgemuppet video.

@@ao1778 Bruh how do you know?
This video is so close to hitting 1million views! Deserves 5 million..
Great content as usual.
But I really miss the retro thumbnails my dudes. The flat yellow isn't doing it for me.
Gaslight gatekeep girl boss I’m liking the video just for that
Please do release more detailed Daedric Prince videos and detailed videos about the Daedra who work for them.
i miss drew doing these videos though, this was his area of expertise
He’s got his own channel drewmora when he does this sort of videos it feels exactly the same to be honest.
Go watch his channel then, he still exists, not the end of the world
He’s got his own channel you don’t have to pick sides kekw they are still friends!
Drew isn't in fudge muppet anymore? I didn't realize I've been gone a while
His voice was super annoying though. If you listen to his pronunciation on words that end in “s” sounds it gets really annoying. I can’t even listen to him anymore
I would HAPPILY accept and watch some updated lore videos. Be them Daedra, Aedra or anything we have new info on
Since the departure of Drew the Daedrologist, the College of Fudgemuppet had to appoint a new one to head their department.
Been subed for a minute. Seen ut damn near from the ground up im proud to say youre one of my favorite UA-camrs man. You gave me a new way to look at things by showing me i can be anyone i wish to be in the game and irl
Yessss, Scott, thank you!!! Love the dabbling in Deadrology!
Even decades after playing this game, I’m still learning about it. Awesome
Daedric Princes explained in one sentence:
Azura: Fairy Godmother from Shrek.
Sheogorath: *_puts on toilet glasses_* "The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side!"
Jyggalag: "That's a right triangle, you idiot!"
Vaermina: Dream a Little dream of me.
This is one of the best videos you guys have ever uploaded
I like Molag Bal, simply because he is straightforward and honest about his spheres of influence & he respects those who are strong.
Unlike Mephala, Boethiah, Nocturnal, Namira, Mehrunes Dagon, Peryite, and Vaermina. They use deceit and trickery to achieve their goals/desires
which I consider far more evil.
Molag Bal is quite literally a rapist, and you compare her to our goddess Azura?
"I admire your tenacity, mortals."
"Your time in my realm made you strong, as expected."
"Good. I grant you permission to strengthen yourself with my minions."
"The sacrifices you make are all done in my name. You are and will always be my servant."
"It is you who will strike the final blow at our enemies. You are almost ready."
Harkon? Bal gives him vampirism because Harkon begged him like a dog and proceeds to not give a fuck at all afterwards.
For some reason my favourite Daedric Prince is Molag Bal, the amount of pure evil just spews out absolute villain full of black air force energy.
