    ah thanks for advice i am using the same set up as you in the video. i will try it i was always under the impression you had to have the paint as flat and shiney as possible before the clear coat. makes sense not to i guess as the clear will need to adhear to the paint. great tutorials and lovely paint job on yours!!!!

    I use spray cans to paint my models, and I have a question, why does my clear coat come out white and bumpy?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  9 років тому

      Breaking rc I don't know the reason why, but i can think of some: Bad batch of spray cans. the wrong kind of clear. Cheap?
      Not very helpfull i know but i have no other ideas....

    • @nikolaiiaksenov
      @nikolaiiaksenov 9 років тому

      Actually I don't think it is cheap, I believe the company is kryolon, but the problem is, if I paint it like you would normally it slowly turns white, but if I do super super super light coats it turns out clear, ( spraying the paint on for like 1 second for each coat)

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  9 років тому

      Breaking rc Well spray cans are not sprayed the same as you would an airbrush. Go slow just like you said works for you with light coats.

      @karaaslanersun 9 років тому

      Breaking rc He's right. Spray cans are not better as airbrushes

    • @MedskiPurnamski
      @MedskiPurnamski 9 років тому

      Breaking rc thick coats tend to run and a concentrated lump of clear coat will turn white when dry. Any clear coat can do that, so it's important to build the layer slowly.

    Hi!First great work I must say. Second is do you sant over your decals ( to get rid of the decal edge you know) and the whole body as well when you are finished with the one week clear coat? Thanx in advance bro.

    Hi! I quite admire your building skills, especially on painting. I am really new to scale models and just want to know, for airbrushing, when I paint the car body, what kind of paint should I use, enamel or acrylic? and I only use tamiya paint which only has a very limited range of colors. there are no zero paints in australia and very hard to find other brands. can you point me a way out?

    • @haoyang4586

      +Hao Yang Sorry, and do you mix your paints or premier with thinner beforehead? if you do, in what ratio?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  9 років тому

      +Hao Yang i use pre thinned paint. Somtimes i use valleyo wich is acrylic and needs a bit of thinning, i just do this by feel. Not sure but maybe gravity colors can ship to your area.

    are DIY decals stronger using decal printer paper than ones supplied by the kits?

  • @noahlane1119
    @noahlane1119 7 років тому

    How do the decals work? Can you put the decal paper into just any kind of printer or what? How does that work?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  7 років тому

      FH3DRIFTKING there are 2 types:
      1 - is for laser printers. These do not need to be sealed and can be used straight away.
      2 - is for inktjet printers. These need to be sealed with clear or special decal binders from microscale industries.
      If you do a google search for making decals, you can find a ton more info

    How much acrylic paint did you use to cover the whole body red, will 23ml of tamiya acrylic paint be enough to cover let's say a nissan skyline r34 in 1/24 scale? :) same question about the primer, how much would I need to cover whole body and elements. I'm asking because I'm about to order all the required materials and I don't want to pay for the shipping two times in case i run out of anything :) Thanks! Btw very nice videos!

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 років тому +1

      +Chris Durlak Zero paints is cellulose thinner based paint. i used about 15 to 20 ml. a bottle of 23ml should be enough as you will most likely will need to add more thinner to it so it will go through the airbrush.
      To be sure i would buy 2 bottles of paint for the body color. and a couple more for the primer as you will be using those up any ways. if not on this build it will be usefull for another one.

    im having real trouble with clear coating models. i wanted to know whats the best way to polish and buff your model. is it best to have your paint as perfect as possible before you clear coat or would you say paint clear coat then buff the clear coat??? one area i struggle with

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 років тому

      +harveydog2006 The most important thing is to have the body as smooth and straight as you can before primer, then prime it and make that as smooth as you can. Then don't touch it, paint it clear coat it. let it dry for a week and start polishing the clear.

      Team FLUX you can use sanding sticks or twigs. Also those soft back nail files for women are great. Otherwise just sandpaper
