I'm from Turkey and Malini always asked people if they belonged to the West or the East. Choosing one side always means losing the other side, so Turkey has a chance not to choose one side. We are both East and West, we have lived through such a century and we will continue to live like this.

What makes Istanbul stand out as a fab city, is it’s heritage, culture and values. I hope it never loses it’s identity as a city that has a deep and beautiful soul. No other city comes close to the richness like Istanbul.
@@LondonPower doubt it very much. By 1453, the Byzantine empire was on its knees because of Its ineptitude. The Ottoman Empire was preferred to maintain the integrity of the Orthodox faith instead of accepting the Papacy of Western Christendom.
Enjoy your time. I recommend trying the baklava pastries and dondurma ice cream. Also try the lokum sweets. You might be able to bring some over. Also try the authentic donner kebab in Iskender in Istanbul. Real kebab not like the minced garbage in UK chip shops.
I am in love with Istanbul! My love for Turkish culture began when I was 12 years old when my sister's Albanian friend introduced me to one of Tarkan's songs. I finally got a chance to travel to Istanbul when I was in university for an exchange semester in 2015. I've been coming back ever since. I finally moved to Turkey a few months ago to Tekirdag. Hoping in the next 2-3 years I'll be able to move to Istanbul, Beykoz ideally.

Wow I ❤️❤️ it a lot. It was a video on brain and belly i.e. history n food. It not only showed different angles of the city from the normal ones but the past vis a vis the present. Adorable 😍. I wish you had visited other main cities. They are amazing with valuable culture, lifestyle, landscape, history n other settlements. Your video was very much different from others. Best of luck. Happy travelling n TC....🌹☺️
I think you chose the guides who weren't able to show the real 'istanbul'. There's so much more to it. Feel free to reach out to me. The current context is super 'orientalist' i'm afraid..
He's exhaggerating. Seriously, Turkey's not North Korea. You just need to mind how you say certain things. In Turkey, you can find a scientist openly calling religious as ''Nonsense'', yes there are backlashes but you can't get in trouble that easily either.
Can’t put my finger on why but Istanbul reminds me quite a bit of Mexico City. Both megacities with a fast changing identity from rapid development with defined pockets of historic areas and neighborhoods populated by young politically active people, nightlife, street food and a Mediterranean climate.

I think it is worth mentioning here that the importance of Istanbul and The Bosphorus together with Dardanelles are that they are providing a passage for the Russian military and the navy into the Mediterranean and back to the Black Sea through Marmara.
Turkey is a very beautiful and historical land. People are so kind and I love this land. I personally think the Turkish should find out their own way to "develop" this country, because of the historical and exotic, uniqueness of the location. The bridge between Europe and Asia is an advantage in culture and economics.
