I mean the kind of restaurants that the chef spends more time decorating the plate, than cooking the food. Watching this video also saddens me because in this video traditional Greek cuisine that our ancestors used to eat is regrettably forgotten. For example foreign visitor don’t know what they are missing if they have not tasted the traditional cuisine cooked by Ms Rania Karatzeni owner the restaurant named Oinomageireio Epirus located in the Varvakio central meat market of Athens. Frankly I rather go to a restaurant that focus on elaborate family-style traditional Greek cuisine, instead of those restaurants that xenomaniac Greeks love enjoying the ‘’trendy ambiance’’ LOL and the artistic presentations of the food served into fancy futuristic dishes using peculiarly styled cutlery, which are all more important to them than the flavor of the food … LOL

Indeed, the term "Hellene", starting around the 4th, 5th, or 6th centuries, became a deprecatory expression for "pagan" (and not even necessarily Greek pagan either). Yeah, Theodosius and Justinian weren't fans of the "Hellenes". Thank goodness the Latin West revived Aristotle (Renaissance of the Twelfth Century) and later the Italians revived the humanities (something like the old paideia) in the Renaissance of the 15th Century, and then the neo-classicism of the Enlightenment (mainly northwest Europe) brought BACK to Greece the legacy of Hellenism, eh? ....THEN, your much more recent ancestors started calling themselves "Hellenes" again.

Love Greece! Visited in’18, pre pandemic, spend multiple days in Athens before cruising (on a Greek line, not a mega ship). Yeah, stayed in old town first, but in modern area after and indulged in a lot of the Modern Greece: food, art, people/social. Austerity Measures were still in place and a lot of graffiti reflected the pain people felt. Athens and their beaches are to the locals like the Cyclades are to tourists. They know how to enjoy life. Opa! Great vid! Thanks Malini!
I wanted to add to your reportage, that we now also have the blue line of the metro ( in the video you see the train not the metro of Athens which is modern and clean) that goes strait from the airport to the port of pireas! Only 45 min. Three new stations opened in October 2022 with ancient ruines inside them, they worth a visit!

Modern Athens is really quite opposite to what it is generally perceived to be as of some ancient civilisation. Quite impressive indeed and the most important factor is the willingness/urge of the people to be called/perceived as very modern and on top of that they are and have taken steps to be known so. Lastly, its their awareness of the the past history, heritage and stature and their effort to link them all to the modern vibes and trends. And the most important and attractive factor of this brief documentary is the filming and the sexy British accent. Everything blends together perfectly. Long live Angellica 🤩😍

Unfortunately, people don't know more about those Stoas in the city. Especially travellers.
There is a lot to explore outside of Plaka.
Pireas looks interesting. Now I am interested to visit Athens.
I’m so happy to find your channel. You have the best channel on UA-cam! I’m a faithful fan now!
I love living in Greece!
You are the best in making a documentary about a place. ❤️
Excellent presentation with a beautiful scenario.
greetings from the beautiful city of athens
I wanted to add to your reportage, that we now also have the blue line of the metro ( in the video you see the train not the metro of Athens which is modern and clean) that goes strait from the airport to the port of pireas! Only 45 min. Three new stations opened in October 2022 with ancient ruines inside them, they worth a visit!
The videos as well as the Narrating is just like tv!
Amazing presentation, coming from the eyes of a young person.
My thanks 🇬🇷
Oh I also have a video about Athens and other places in Greece! I love Greek culture and their friendly mentality
I was blessed to live there for 2yrs. Even though covid hit while I was there, I got to see an even more creative side to Athens. 🎉🎉🎉
Very cool!
You and your partner are a great team. The presentation is always very professional, yet warm.
Excellent quality video definitely worthy of any television channel
What an amazing job ! ✊🏾
such a professional documentary. amazing work
I love your videos, remind me of Bourdain travels, and that cool vibe of the 90s-2000 travel shows on “Travel and Living channel”. ❤❤
Spend enough time in Greece and everywhere else will start to feel kind of boring. Speaking from experience 🙂
You CLEARLY need to travel more. 😂😂😂
@@mysticheart1049 I can understand what he means. Perhaps it is you who needs to discover more of Greece. The density of so many different ways of life and styles in such a small place like Greece, actually makes it unique. You will never understand this until you see it with your own eyes.
@@papertoyss Lol, I don’t need to discover more of Greece, but you both clearly need to discover more of the world. He said everywhere else seems boring compared to Greece, which is a straight ignorant lie, it’s the comment of someone who needs to explore more world cultures and places. Greece is unique? So what, so are many other places, big or small. Get over yourself.
@@mysticheart1049 Greece is oky, but ITA and France are superior and more beautiful with better wine and food.
@@hankwilliams5622 what you mean more beautiful ? and about food its just like your opinion, the 3 million Italian tourists visit Greece every summer maybe they can make you thinking about it again...
My birth place ❤ always part of me🇬🇷🇦🇺🤗❤️
Wonderful video from such a beautiful host! loved it!!
I love your videos and how you always include the perspective of locals and show the real sides, not just the tourist areas
Thank you for your Vlog on Athens. You have cured me of any desire to go there.
Lovely photography, editing, presentation. Respect. If you ever decide to come to Egypt it will be my honour to help you have the smoothest stay.
The ancient Greek civilization has not disappeared as you show in the video, but as it is natural in the millennia it has changed, even the language we write and speak is the same simply over the time it has been modernized!!
beautiful video, I really appreciate, keep on it :)
The birthplace of democracy. God bless Greece. That all aside, hades is the best Greek god in my opinion.
Thank you for this. Great content!
Great job Malini , can't wait for You to get to Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean
Marvellous, as usual
This was stunning I particularly liked the industrial art area ... I have been to the apocalypse it was indescribable just knowing I was walking on the stones that Jesus walked upon !!! .... seeing this has made me want to return thank you 🤍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏
I LOVE ATHENS
GREECE EMPIRE LAST UNTIL LAST 🤩
Hi I am from India. I often watch your blog , yes your presentation is very attractive.
Great video !
Your next stop check out Thessaloniki 🇬🇷💙
thanks for these beautiful videos ... good luck❤
Psirri is pretty touristy though, it's not like you have to walk ten miles or search for it. I've been hanging out in Kifissia or Chalandri the last years when I visit, great spots where you will not find any tourist.
Your content is amazing, very well executed and selected 👏🏽🌎🌍🌏
greetings from athens thanks you came to our city you are beautiful
All your videos are quite enjoyable.
Beautiful
I love your explore… from India 🇮🇳
Thank you, Malini, I am going to Athens in 2024, and your video helps a great deal.
I am liking the videos of yours as the presentation is something catchy...thanks for the Information.
love that wine lady in the orange dress
eline emeğine sağlık bu güzel vlog için kolay gelsin hayırlı işler....👍👍👍👍
Modern Athens is really quite opposite to what it is generally perceived to be as of some ancient civilisation. Quite impressive indeed and the most important factor is the willingness/urge of the people to be called/perceived as very modern and on top of that they are and have taken steps to be known so. Lastly, its their awareness of the the past history, heritage and stature and their effort to link them all to the modern vibes and trends. And the most important and attractive factor of this brief documentary is the filming and the sexy British accent. Everything blends together perfectly. Long live Angellica 🤩😍
Love it ❤️
Vvvv beautiful ❤️❤️
Composed , new features edition , images well thought thumbs up
Great video! I was fortunate enough to experience a bit of the Athens featured here.
It's an amazing city everywhere you look.
Superb...
