      Me too. Or actually I was vegan and I ran every day for about 15 years. Past 6 months I started feeling hopeless about the world and I stopped doing everything right. Opposite of what you'd imagine could help things. One month ago I started the plantbased lifestyle again and I've started running every day again and I'm so happy to be on it again. It's the best choice you can make.

    Another thing he mentions, briefly, is his "protracted battle with alcoholism". As a person 18 years in recovery, myself, I am always so grateful when someone as amazing and inspiring as Rich shares this fact of his personal journey to optimal health with the world. He is such a powerful, powerful example of what we can accomplish when we are able to overcome these things that hold us back from our potential and our passions~ the sky is the only limit! Beautiful!!

      Oh stop your exhibitionism. You should be ashamed to admit that you were a stinking, pathetic heroin addict. Keep it in the closet. Recover a shred of dignity and nobility. By the way, the addictive power of heroin is vastly overrated and romanticized. See: Romancing Opiates: Pharmacological Lies and the Addiction Bureaucracy www.amazon.com/Romancing-Opiates-Pharmacological-Addiction-Bureaucracy/dp/1594032254

      Jeremiah Alphonsus I wouldn't know heroin if I saw it. Learn to read.
      But God loves all the heroin addicts, and wants them to live and overcome their illness and be returned to health.
      And I'll just bet that really bugs you.

      1) I was talking to Levi. 2) Heroin use isn’t an addiction; it’s character failure.

    Rich is one of my biggest inspirational speakers. I was a semi professional athlete in my 20's. Still not able to kick the alcohol due to many circumstances. I hate this feeling. I know if I didn't have this addiction I could have done so much more with my life. I am vegan...so at least I have that much going for me.

    Been Vegan for about a week now. No more acid breath burning me up. I have no issue with my energy levels anymore, and my cough and congestion due to dairy is gone. I am still overweight, but losing lbs steadily. I biked through 15 miles sat through an hour long lecture and wrote an in-class essay off of one single sun-dried date. (I was in a rush), but I felt great!

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 років тому +1

      No it's not. Humans are an endurance species. You can literally be an alcoholic with good endurance. Saying endurance is the ultimate fitness test is like saying the true test of a sports car is its top speed. Being fit requires physical strength, endurance, and power. I would argue that for humans physical strength would be the ultimate test, given how much we have to work for it.

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 років тому

      sideways Tree boi. Because fitness is not defined by one aspect, especially not the one we are born to be good at and almost don't have to try to improve on. I literally do not do active cardio, i walk a lot. The only time i actually do cardio is in the summer when its nice outside i go out into nature. I go hiking or something. My fitness is almost 90% lifting weights and i can jog a 4 mile uphill trail first day of the summer. No thats not particularly impressive, but it goes to show that humans are so good at endurance you actually dont even need to train for it to be good at it.

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 років тому

      sideways Tree boi. Except cheetah's are extremely strong for their size still. Fitness is an all inclusive endeavor. Having good endurance and not being able to deadlift 405lbs is not fitness. You can be an athlete, and not fit. Competitive endeavors and fitness are seperate. For example you would not consider ray williams fit, or healthy. But seeing as how he squats 1085lbs raw, you would absolutely consider him strong. And good at his sport. Deadlifting 405lbs is novice standards. Follow any time proven novice program for a year and you can pull 405 by the end of it. Its just not that hard.

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 років тому

      sideways Tree boi. I have enough cardiovascular endurance to not die an early death, thats really the only reason i maintain it

    Awesome interview and I love how Rich answered the questions Klaus had. I’ve recently gotten back to vegan 🌱 full time from keto. Type 2 diabetes behind me. Purchased a new aluminum hybrid bike which when the snow is gone here in Canada 🇨🇦, I’ll be out on the trails. I still go to the gym 3-4 times per week. Turning 55 March 31st, so not as much weight lifting, but more cardio to get fit and lean. 20gr of fat per day (naturally occurring fat from vegan foods). Lots of healthy carbs, vegetables and fruit. Just grab life and have fun !! 🚴🚴🚴🍑🥭🌾🏊‍♂️🚣‍♂️🥗🍠🌽🥦🥝🍅🫑🌶🍍🍉🍌

    I started last year to eat better via plant-based/Vegan/Vegetarian foods. And my body and arteries feels so much clearer and healthier. I did notice that when I ate the meats/heavy proteins that I felt quite sluggish and slower (I can attest to this because I tried both ways and my body can't lie to me). Yes, eat healthier and your body will reward you and thank you.

      Elin Winblad, maybe to a point. But to quote some of the V greats,
      “genetics load the barrel. Your diet pulls the trigger”.

      MORBUENO GROUP yes that’s why veganism didn’t end well for me. I went keto after but now I try only to eat animal products and veggies close to what my ancestors ate.

      Elin Winblad Why didn’t veganism end well for you?
      And you know, I actually did the reverse. I started out with keto. met my goals, and that’s when I made the switch to a WFPBD. I don’t eat animal, products, dairy, or any oil. Definitely no processed foods at all, of any kind. In the end, I think any one diet is not good for everyone. Ultimately it’s what works for you, your individual body and genetics. So try something, if you find it works for you, keep at it. If you don’t, then try something else until you find something that works for you. Agree?

      MORBUENO GROUP my back/spine started hurting/crunching sounds. My ancestry is pretty clear (we’ve (relative) track it to year 1200) which was all north Europe near arctic circle. So probably why it wasn’t great for me. They ate meat dairy and fish with root veggies. It’s funny before I went vegan I always thought it was strange my culture ate berries with heavy cream poured over . But it makes more sense now lol.

      JustOneSmallOlive I've seen people adopting a vegan diet looking way much younger than before. Mainly, it's the vegan diet.

    Rich Roll looks late 30's, not 51! That's why you've got to go plant based.

      He does look 51, nothing wrong with that though. Most 51 year olds on the SAD look a decade or two older.

      😆 I don’t know what kind of drug using hard life 30 year olds you know but they don’t look like that at 30 he looks his age I think you might be confusing his good looks (im referring to handsome not health in regards to looks) as being younger.

    I make those smoothies 2-3 times a day. Coffee is crap to me now! I just came back from playing soccer, and after a 2 hours of being home I want to go out for a jog already 😁 Fruits and veggies are so amazing to the body, my goodness.
    Even the bible says a plant (vegetable) based diet is the best diet.

    I like what he said about "moving your body every day in a way you look forward to". I'm into mountain climbing. I've climbed cliffs that are thousands of feet tall, but no matter how many times I try it, I don't like running. So I don't do it, at least not very often. ;-)
