Thanks to this video I started researching the vegan world in 2017. I have seen my health improve lots from constant migraines, PMS, constipation, arthritis pain in all joints, heartburn, to name a few. So I have much to thank Dr. Wareham, and your channel. I hope to get to 104 like he did and like one of my great grandmas. 💟
My grandfather lived to be 99 years old eating salted, fat pork and clabbered (fermented) milk all of his life. He was lean, drove himself around, and worked his farm until he was 95. Read the entire New York Times daily. The veggies he ate were all covered in Round Up. No cancer. Health is a personal process. There is no one size fits all. *He was fertile, too. We know because his womanizing left offspring all over three counties.
I can personally confirm exactly every thing Dr. Ellsworth Wareham says. I was almost killed by a heart stroke. My left coronary was 100% clogged, now there is a stent in it. I stopped immediately with all animal food and started to eat only whole vegetables, legumes, nuts, fruits - absolutely nothing from animals anymore. My heart has fully recovered in less than two years. No problems what so ever, but most important: no medicine at all needed!!! I am now 71 and still in great form.
Because the key triggers of heart strokes are cereals, you obviously chose a wrong strategy. But I don't doubt that you feel fine because your mind can fabricate whatever feelings you want.
Donald Duck Really now? Can you link those studies? The number one killer worldwide is heart disease. And your going to tell me it’s all because of cereals? Blocked arteries have been found pre-agriculture. A plant based diet is the only diet proven to reverse heart disease.
I was a young 18 year old Hospital Orderly in the old Loma Linda Hospital, way back in 1963-4 and I remember seeing Dr. Wareham walking down the hospital corridor, going in and out of rooms checking on his patients, and I always saw a group of Medical Students, Interns, and Residents in tow. He was a VERY popular doctor, and both the staff and the patients loved him. He was a kind, and well respected Physician. I later went on to be a surgeon myself, and I always have remembered Dr. Wareham, and considered him a great role model. I am a Loma Linda trained surgeon and did surgery for 48 years. I presently am 76 and still trying to live as Dr. Wareham did. He was the ideal representative of a Seventh day Adventist Doctor. I am glad that he lived as long as he did, and influenced so many people with his Life.
@Michael Yea screw the Christian ✝️ part. Meatless and ahimsa is the way of life. No suffering for any living being. Christianity is a for profit business that is full hypocrisy and brainwashing.
Thank you for your outstanding testimony. Thank you for the much-needed Dr. Wareham style example to younger physicians that is so desperately needed now. God bless you sir!
RIP Dr Wareham Oct 3 1914- Dec 15 2018. One of if not the most inspiring person I have listened to. I never met him but his interviews completely changed my outlook on life. Condolences to his family. Thank you to Veggie Channel for this content.
do you know what he died of? i recently looked up what centenarians die of and its generally the usual , Alzheimer, heart disease etc, they say the dr was lucid up until death, i live next to loma linda, wiki says its one of the 4 places where there are centenarians.. very inspiring
@@ejRecording im sure you know this, but one of the common factors among each of the 5 "blue zones" is a plant-based diet (though many people have some fish and things, it is almost always in small portions; so on average the diets in these places is very close to either a vegetarian or a vegan diet)
@@ejRecording I think eventually the body just wears out. My grandma made it close to 100. She slowly just stopped eating full meals and just ate light snacks. That is usually one of the signs that a person is nearing the end.
Thanks! Are you making that up? Cause that’s what my hypothesis is for healthy deaths, study dan winter science of A successful death- all over UA-cam and ray moody
TB1M1 really? I got a heavy heart :( R.i.p Ps: my life will change in 3 days because of him. I’ll be forever grateful and will tell everyone who’ll ask me how i change my eating habits that it was thanks to him.
My wife and I switched to a whole foods plant based diet (vegan) together five years ago. We are now retired at 65, and it is one of the best things we ever did for our physical, mental, and spiritual health. Within a year, my weight went from 185 to 155 and has stayed at 155, my normal weight. No more diets - we just make sure our carbs come from whole grains rather than white flour, and watch out for sugar, salt, processed foods, and oil (including olive oil). We avoid eating out except on special occasions. All my numbers are now normal - no medications except for a B12 supplement and a multi vitamin with iron. My wife was able to discontinue her blood pressure medication she had been taking for 30 years. We sleep well our skin looks clear and healthy. We seldom get colds. After a year or so we started ramping up our physical exercise and found we had an amazing amount of energy. We take a high intensity basic training fitness class twice a week, and an advanced step aerobics class three times a week keeping up with people half our age. We also do our own yard work, wash our cars by hand, have a large garden, and cut our own firewood. The only regret is we should have done this earlier in life.
very inspiring, please look into prodovite by VNI, perfect blood within 5 minutes! seems to be the finest supplements available today, revolutionary absorption technology, watch this two minute video and keep looking into them, you can make money reccomending it to people, i am not including my rep info so i am not selling anything, but if youre interested let me know, i can help you.. ua-cam.com/video/UsFhY92Fhv0/v-deo.html
i can say the same thing for myself.. been vegan for 20 yrs.. maintained the same weight throughout.. energy through the roof with 2 hrs of gym 5x/wk...strong believer that vegan is the answer to today's problems with animal factory farms, (the abuse of farm animals is abhorring), the pollution that these giant sheds cause is environmental degradation, and ppl getting sicker and sicker..however things are changing and the vegan movement has taken off.. there will be great changes!
John Garrett Considering his amazing vitality I wouldn't be surprised he's still alive in ten years. It seems the average age people die is going to reach some pretty ridiculous numbers in our lifetime. Provided we don't end up enduring a nuclear holocaust or something like that.
Good for you being educated. Ignore nay-sayers and do your own research. You have been given the gift of looking after yourself and YOU are the ONLY ONE who decides what you put in YOUR mouth/body. Don't let ANYONE (parent or otherwise) tell you what you must eat. Listen to what's said, do some research and then make an informed decision. Eating WFPB is very healthy no matter what anyone says.
This guy is amazing and is spot on! My dad went plant based at age 74, reversed diabetes/HTN and feels great! Whole food plant based wins! Now the ACC/AHA formally recommends plant based diets to prevent heart disease! GO PLANTS!
great to hear that. what else did your father give up? did he eat everything including meat, cookies, sugary drinks, etc etc, and he went vegan, or did he not eat junk, and just gave up meat? does he eat eegs and butter or is that not part of the vegan diet? i’m asking these questions because there is a lot a controversy with saturated fat and having fat in the diet vs a low fat vegan diet. the doctors i follow encourage healthy fats from grass fed animals, organic butter, and organic cage free eggs. since we are made up of triglycerides and cholesterol same as fish, it should almost be automatic for humans to eat healthy fats. but this doctor is 98 and had all his witts God bless him. so who do we listen to? a lot of vegans are 100 years of age and over. the japanese are the healthiest people on the planet and they eat rice and fish, yes? fish is loaded with EPA & DHA, those are healthy fatty acids. in my opinion sugar and stress are the enemies, not healthy fats. humans are at the top of the food chain, but we are not as smart as most animals because they know what not to eat. some animals eat meat, some don’t, like birds don’t eat meat. the point is they know what to eat, and what not to eat. dogs on the other hand will eat anything. is this because they are always hungry because they don’t have enough food, or are they just as dumb as us men. wolves eat meat, is that because that’s all they have, but there are also greens where that are, so it’s by choice. do we follow the centenarians? but i’m a woodworker, not a doctor. i do know that sugar, carbs, and fried foods will bring your number closer faster. God bless us all.
What he said about changing tastes is true. I used to eat veggies pretty much never. These days leafy greens like kale and spinach are part of my diet. If you take it slow you can gradually develop a taste for veggies like I did.
+Trans ExFeminist Autism YESYESYES...when you GET RID of salts, chemicals, sugars...and go to PLANTS, your sense of taste changes!!!! so true! thank you!
+valnaples Technically speaking you can't get rid of chemicals. Whole plant foods are loaded with chemicals. Good healthy chemicals like Carbohydrates, fats, protein, and vitamins.
Look at one of the most recent You Tube entries on Nutritionfacts.org - where Dr. Michael Greger reviews the scientific research on diet and health. He said there are more pesticides in meat and fish than in plants - which are minor. There are more neurotoxins in fish than in plants. Etc. check it out.
TeleTrans 1 you are so right! I try to explain to my friends this phenomenon, but they don't believe me. I am a vegetarian for about 2 years now, and I could tell you for a fact that the one vegetable I hated (onions) has become one of my favorite vegetables to use in my dishes.
what the fuck vegetables are u looking at. sure he looks old but he is alert, energised, completely mentally present, doesnt look like hes in pain...my grandparents are far younger and nowhere near as healthy
My mom's birthday today. She works out regularly with barbell squats and dead lifts. Up to 130 pounds. She weighs 120 at 5 ft 4. Her age? Put it this way- I'm 57 and she is more than 20 years older. She has been vegan for 20 years and 90% raw for 10. She used to be one of those 'sensitive' types that Dr. Wareham mentioned. She was a hard case, but she is my mom so I kept at it. I made her meals, supervised her exercise, managed her nutrition etc. It took years and many arguments. It was tough. Almost broke us apart. But it is my mom. People all talk about how 'difficult' it is. Or "You don't understand'. Yada yada. But at the end of the day, you can do it. And nobody- I mean NOBODY ever looks back and says, "Hey I wish I never made this change'. They all enjoy their amazing new strength and health and freedom from 99% of dis-ease that they used to suffer from. There are two kinds of people. Those people have systematically weakened their taste buds to the point where they THINK that they are living the good life. Then the others who do the CHANGE, put forth the effort for the required time (doing it the right way of course), and actually live the good life.
Chris Califano I love hearing that, good for you and your mom. I'm really trying to inspire all my family with my vegan recipes showing how you don't need meat and dairy for food to taste good. I hope one day they'll all see the benefits like your mom did.
So right Dr. I was 66 when I changed from vegetarian way, began in 2000 losing 115 lbs. When I found out the chemicals hormones dye put in Salmon and what chickens went though and saw slaughter houses treatment. ( I also had a Dad that came from Farming) I have lived now almost 5 months. organic fruits vegetables gone from 175 lbs to 150 lbs. I sleep finally though the night, I want to walk every day sometimes two hours. I love fixing my meals eating the wonderful God given food. I love mushrooms and do not miss meat at all, not even chicken. I even found out there is vegan cheese. I will never change. My sons think I am a fanatic they are over weight and I know that eventually like me they will get diabeties, mine went away when i changed to vegetarian in less then 6 months. I have energy now I didn't have in 40's and do pushups daily lift weights 5 lbs but need to graduate to 10 lbs. 5 is to easy. I don't want to be a muscle woman just keep strong. I also do stretches and balance exercise daily for legs. I go up flights of stairs, I live on 8th floor in stead of taking elevator.
“all tastes are acquired, except for breast milk.” brilliant. That’s all I need to hear. I want to interview this man! His voice needs to be widely heard and look at how well he looks. He has light. He is what healthy older age is supposed to look.
Ok. I am in love. In LOVE with this man. He reminds me a lot of my dad, who was a world renowned research chemist. Same approach to life. Calm. Cool. Collected. Methodical. I am so glad I found your channel! Thank you!
thank you Dr wareham for having made this inspiring video. God bless your family. A tribute to his memory, the people who have had the privilege of knowing him are very fortunate. Those types of videos contribute a lot to the quality of life of people
Absolutely agree. The one thing though that I wish he would have addressed is the influence of your genes with regard to your LDL and HDL levels. MY feeling is that some people, due to their genetics, will never be able to get there cholesterol as low as he recommends.
@@oliverram3243 The more whole plant food and the less animal flesh you put in your diet the healthier you will be. Twelve years of living this way proves that to me.
I love this guy! I became vegetarian over 28 years ago and I evolved to vegan over 22 years ago. The best decision of my life! My only regret is that I did not become vegan when I was a child. Go vegan for the animals, for the planet, for yourself. Veganism = Compassionate Living.
I dont think he perform a surgery being 95 years old. And theres a lot of doctors who are old - dont trust them. I mean if A doctor is above 70 he mostl likely will develop some kind of demencia.
@@Corvid_Moon Are u stupid? What kind of fucking hospital would let a trembling 90 year old perform open heart surgery? Better yet what kind of patient would ever sign off on that? Wow
This is thoroughly inspiring! Why, oh why didn't I see the vegan light 46 years ago? I'm 47 and just ending my first year of low fat plant-based living. My mom had 5 - bypass surgery at my age and in this one case, I'd like to NOT follow in her footsteps- in every other way she is an absolutely wonderful human being- although she is convinced that I will be diabetic soon because of all the fruit I'm consuming. She is a Type 1 diabetic, as well, she's a real trooper! But I must stay the vegan course... I am already feeling some positive results! Thanks for taking the time to film this Doc! You positively shine!
I only became a vegan in my 50's. You're way too young 4 that at 12.. Wait until your mid 20's at least for optimum development so you can take care of your little brother and have a long happy life:)
Mary Smithson I'm just worried that she's not getting enough cholesterol and DHA omega 3 for her growing brain and collagen fibres for her teeth, bones and joints is all.. I don't mean to tread on anybody's toes.. I'm just giving my medical and personal opinion is all.. It's entirely up to these nice people whether they want to take it or not.. When I was her age I was always eating bone broth soup, fish and eggs and I think that gave me a great start in my physiological development.. Strong foundations make for strong houses:) ...
Dr. Ellsworth Wareham I think your very wrong. If you had a strong foundation on those foods you would have no need to go vegan later in life. And no one needs cholesterol from animal sources because that is all bad cholesterol, our own bodies make good cholesterol all on it's own.
AwkwardEmoticonHere Ah! let me think.. If I remember correctly from my medical school days (it's been a few years:) ), the chemical formula for cholesterol is C27H46O, whether it comes from an animal or from our livers.. There's no such thing as bad cholesterol really.. I've heard certain misinformed/misguided people call LDL bad but that's ridiculous. If you had zero LDL you'd be dead.. Dietary cholesterol, on the other hand is transported by lipoproteins called chylomicrons which are v v beneficial. The more of these you have then the less VLDL your liver has to make and believe you me young Sunny Jim, the average human liver is already overworked clearing all the glucose out of our blood because of our modern carb-heavy diets and it would much rather that you get your cholesterol from your diet..
After watching Forks over Knives two days ago with my parents we cleaned out our pantry and fridge yesterday and today are going WF plant based. Big changes for us daily dairy and meat eaters, scary but exciting. After watching this I will share it with my parents. Even though he is gone now, his message and teachings will live on and keep changing lives for the better.
I have noticed the same thing. I am not convinced about benefits of veganism (yet). I have started to live completely without sugar and other sweeteners month ago and it is awesome.
Vegan POWER!!! I am 34 years young and people always tell me I look 21, I´m not bragging or showing off, I´m just simply trying to tell you IT´S THE WAY TO GO!!!
@CarelessFreak It also has nutrients NOT found in any of their genetically modified fruits and vegetables, that they import from anywhere they can. Way to go CarelessFreak
I'm 34 and people say I look like I'm in my mid 20s. I eat meat, but not excessively. I think it has more to do with genetics, staying active and avoiding the sun.
I've seen 70 and 80 year olds that look like him. Damn, he looks amazing for his age. And the fact that he retired in his 90s? Epic. Makes me feel good about this vegan lifestyle.
Most 70 and 80 year olds looks worse. He has such vitality and clarity in his eyes. Straight back and even though his skin is as wrinkly as expected you can still see it looks really clear and healthy.
annie belle my friends grandma was diagnosed with cancer and refused chemotherapy. She followed this 4-5 month vegan plant based diet and she was completely cancer free by the end of 4th month. The doctors were shocked
Alex Struk You are so wrong. Don't try to justify meat eating. A mainly vegan diet is ALWAYS the key to longevity. The Japanese people ate a diet rich in carbohydrate, low in salt and animal protein and lived quite stress-free. And you can see now, as the American diet became more and more popular in Japan the last decades, that the life expectancy dropped dramatically (!!!) (just look it up). btw: don't throw around with numbers, if you can't handle or understand them, pleeease.
Why do you need other people or so called "professionals" to tell you what to do? These "professionals" get only a few hours of nutrition in college... (for a reason) I mean, just research the data yourself, there are plenty(!) of studies, which you can read. Go here: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ and type in "vegan" or "vegan diet" or something related and you can find yourself all the data, that clearly shows how beneficial a vegan diet is. There are also so many UA-cam Channels where you can inform yourself. I recommend: NutritionFacts.org (both a Channel and a website on its own) And btw: The president of the American College of Cardiology is a vegan! (shocking, I know) And if it wouldn't be enough already: you would also support the planets recovery, because the farming is the main factor in the equation of environmental destruction. PLUS: Humans are not designed to eat meat. We thrive greatly on a plant-based diet, because our entire anatomy is constructed for that. (e.g. compare teeth of different kinds of animals with ours)
What a great man. This will be me in 70 years. Practicing medicine right up until I have been in this world for a century and possibly beyond. And using a low-fat vegan diet to treat every condition imaginable.
I tried it for 9 days. My sciatic nerve pain from my back went away. My acid reflux stopped and my joint pain in my feet stopped. I have RA and felt awesome no joint pain. Now I know its not just BS. It was hard at first but then it got easier. Forks over knives has an awesome magazine with recipes
Try celery juice, get into Anthony William s books/videos/advices. Celery juice has helped me so much with so many symptoms, also eliminating dairy and eggs and gluten whilst slowly eliminating meat. But the celery juice isnt just a trend, it s real and it s helping so many people.
animal agriculture is responsible for 91% of deforestation and the Amazon is being burned down 150 acres every minute destroyed and if the usa went vegan it would be equal to taking 60 million cars off the road and animal agriculture emits more emissions than all transportation in the world combined also since we feed animals more than 10 times the amount of food we take from their body and it takes 2500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, if everyone went vegan we could cure world hunger 13 times over
He started being vegan in his mid 40s. That's very inspiring to me because I'm in my mid 40s and have recently become vegan myself, which at first I thought was a little late to start. This gives me lots of motivation to keep going.
66 yrs young and plant based eating for 2 yrs now, no words could describe how good i feel and truly grateful that i reap the benefits and am more connected to Life. 🤗❤ ❤🤗
has anyone seen what they do to the poor pigs in factory farming? has anyone seen what they do to the baby cows so people can eat veal? has anyone seen what the poor ducks have to endure to create foix gras? People the madness and cruelty has got to stop!
Ross Catto dang it that makes me so sick...it is horrible...and Obama said that agriculture and animal farming is not touchable, can you believe it? anyone who partakes by supporting this evil has participated in satanic worship...call me crazy I don't care it is just satanic
MM N well the freemasons do worship Satan so I wouldn't be all that surprised. But Obama is probably just paid a lot of money by these industries to maintain what's in their interests.
Ross Catto well let's not forget Tyson Chicken scandal where Hillary funded that satanic crowd with a loan that was never repaid, due to their donation, and they are completely evil their abuse of chickens is sick beyond belief...frying little baby chicks in vats of oil and smashing chickens to death against the wall they are so diabolical I hate them
This man, comes from my area of the country. Loma Linda is known for a Vegan life. If he's talking, best you believe he's interested in real health at his age. If he's still living,he beat the odds as he made this video. Most men are dead before they reach 70. He's a star for making this video at his,age...and a doctor at his age has true knowledge. Thank you Doctor...for this video
"MOST MEN" in the USA live to be 77.. In Europe it's 79, and Japan is 81.. I guarantee this man gets 80% of his caloric intake from grain based foods..
@rainmechanic I was agreeing but then "I guarantee this man gets 80% of his caloric intake from grain based foods.." why did you feel the need to write this? are you one of these idiots who thinks whole grains are bad for you? Besides what makes you think he gets 80 percent of his calories from "grain based foods"? I mean you really dont have to rely on grains as a vegan. Beans lentils peas potatoes fruits nuts seeds vegetables mushrooms etc but then again why would you skip grains
No, Loma Linda is not revered for vegan lifestyles. The part of town that attracted media attention for their health were primarily *vegetarian.* I've seen no official mention that even the majority of them were vegan. Make no mistake, there is quite a long way from vegetarian to vegan. Not all people that swear to not eat meat cut out animal products that have been a staple of a balanced diet for millennia. Besides, and jeez, I'm not criticising him for it, but his advice about both saturated fat, cholesterol and (to some degree) sodium, are all outdated. There has been no empirical evidence for any of these compounds to negatively impact your cardiovascular health or risk for cancer when consumed in traditionally moderate amounts. Symptoms that were believed to be caused by LDL cholesterol have through independent research been attributed to high blood sugar. High sodium intake also haven't been demonstrated to affect anyone but diabetics. And saturated fat was just an hypothesis that fell short because of the former. As an additional heads up, these are all ideas that are being washed out of university curriculum to make room for most robustly evaluated research. But you gotta give it to him. 103 years and still going strong. He's gotta have done something right. I'm positive that, for some people a vegan lifestyle will bring the greatest health. For I sincerely believe that above diet, life expectancy is determined by attitude. And if there's one thing vegan people don't stress about it's a lack of connection with nature.
do not confuse caloric intake with nutrients..some idiot had a go at me for questioning their saying broccoli was high in protein...yeah, it gets its calories form protein; 40% , but it is not 40% protein!!! @@rainmechanic
I agree...eating abunch of meat is no good..and close to vegtarian is the answer as borne out by data on the blue zone..I didnt know adventists were meant to be vegan.. some say there is something about this region not just the diet... I do think vegetarian is the way to go..compassion...connection... health...@@___xyz___
This glorious man was highly influential in my decision to become Vegan after watching the brilliant Forks over Knives. It’s the best decision I ever made. So many pluses including less expensive. People always ask me where do you get your protein from and I always say where do you think your protein gets protein from. Dr Ellsworth is so right that we can advise people on emotional and physical well-being but try telling them about food. LOL. My taste buds have changed for sure. I look at meatballs one of my favourite things and the desire has gone. It’s incredible.
Lady In Van e-ventures [LIVE] Australia Hi there, where can I find this video? Is it on netflix? Really want to watch as so many vegans cite it (I am vegetarian but want to switch, just nervous to do so at 6 months pregnant). Thanks in advance!
Also as an RN with midwife experience I don’t think it will be harmful to you or your baby to go vegan but there can be side effects like really dry skin for a while. Mine was almost reptilian but now is softer than ever and also a major thing for you I guess is you can become very tried for the first month of the transition and then you have more energy than ever and more mental clarity. It’s quite amazing really. I also lost 5kg without even trying. It is a tough one for you having a new baby around and being tired is not optimal. However, the fact that you are vegetarian already it may not affect you as much as it did me. My main meat of choice was chicken and there is so much artificial garbage in expanded chickens which I feel along with dairy made the biggest changes to my wellbeing.
He has amazing mental clarity at this age. One thing older people lose is the mental capacity to recall numbers, dates, names, etc. So I am truly impressed and inspired.
Steve Stone, I think this is very important, of lot crucial - to learn to make delicious vegan dishes. Unfortunately I still haven't, but I'm pretty sure I could make my parents go vegan when/if I learn that...
Janko What ya talking about!....People spice up their meat too!! And lots!!! And guess what....the sauces etc that are put on your steak are made from vegetable....too ironic!!!
which recipes? I was vegan a year.. and I just watched dr daniles in the healing kitchen ..she cooked onion zucchini with basil and lemon..and served it on brown rice..I think it would make me Herk.... I like those components.. but I would need chilli sauce if not salt and also some oil.
if you find truly delicious food on youtube let me know..chef aj cooks what I would tolerate as a side dish but is kinda gross to me..the way she does left overs and crap she bought..I know shes trying to appeal to the lazy.. but her food..seems dull..
Very inspiring Surgeon. I admire his healthy habits & his openness to share & educate the public on eating plant base diet. Thanks for posting this awesome video.👍🏽😍
Absolutely incredible person! Love this story. Changing to a vegan diet 5 years ago has completely transformed how I feel. Couldn't be happier on this diet. Agree about how sensitive people are about what they eat. Has been so difficult to get loved ones near me to change their habits even after having heart attacks.
You do realize he was pescatarian right? He wasnt vegan or vegetarian. He often ate salmon in restaurants and his wife cooked all his meals with dairy such as butter, cream, milk, he just didnt drink milk by the glass
He was vegan from his 50’s! Listen to his interview here - he was saying he never liked dairy and didn’t drink it by the glass and that his mother would cook animal flesh as did his wife until his 50’s when he went completely vegan!
This interview was so insightful. I love his calm and easy-going persona partnered with his intellect. That’s that vegan life for ya. Thx for posting!!
Dr Wareham...my salute and respect goes to you. Thank you for making this video you are such an inspiration. Low fat vegan and excercise! Yes!! Love this video!
To clarify: He stopped *operating* at 74 but continued working for another 20 years by training residents. He looks and sounds amazing! Thanks for the video!
@Gregg Stafford "A medical report issued by the New York medical examiner's office a year after his death showed that Atkins had a history of heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension." He was a bad cardiologist :(
I’m 51 and have been plant based/vegan for 8 months. I wish I would have started in my 20s. Wish someone like you could have given me this information. You are so right about people not wanting to listen. I try to tell friends and family and they look at me like I’m crazy to give up animal products and dairy. #eatplants

It’s ok you’re not alone. I went Vegan at 37, wish I had turned Vegan sooner too. Never give up, you are right, they are wrong. Stop animal cruelty, be healthier and help saving the planet
Thank you Dr.Ellsworth Wareham you are an inspiration to all of us! I loved watching your video! I have been a vegan for five years now. My numbers are spot on! I no longer have fever and pain on the inside of my knee, I no longer take aspirin to eliminate the joint pain in my hands, fingers, shoulder, and elbow, my circulation is better; my arms and hands no longer fall asleep at night, my nails have never been stronger or clearer, I no longer feel like I have a slab of bacon on the front of my stomach, when I run my heart doesn't feel like it's going to beat itself right out of my chest and I no longer experience shortness of breath. I, too, follow Dr. Campbell, Esselstyn, Ornish and Mc Dougall. I can FEEL the difference and plan to live a very long life!
I'd recommend at least taking as least dairy as you can. If you see the data, almost every good factor is higher and every bad factor lower among the vegans. It's for the extra benefits, brother. Your body is selfish, it doesn't think about what you can accomplish when healthy, rather only about the momentarily pleasure. And that's the source of all Evil...
+Amy Glover Spreading this informative information is my mission in life Amy.. It is so rewarding and it gives me so much satisfaction that I actually feel like a pimp..
At 7:19 he cites Dr. Collin Campbell of Cornell & how even skim milk protein casein raises cholesterol. This is a significant point. Watch out for Dairy products.
Excellent video! We are both in our 80's and are all about healthy aging. Getting older does have to mean getting sicker. We still strive for a strong body, a calm mind, & a positive outlook. The videos you present are very helpful.
Most vegans go well out of their way to avoid anything tested so your generalization is off base. Further it takes 16lbs of grain to make 1lb of meat. 80% of all farm land is used to grow crops to feed animals for meat. Meat eaters do vastly more damage to the natural habitat.
***** Your principle is "not avoiding unnecessary harm"? "Cause unnecessary harm and don't think twice about it"? That is better? Criticizing people who go out of their way to avoid unnecessary harm is easy? I am lost to find your point.
Yes will in addition to other. Reason: Compassion and health are the major reasons - many minor - personal decision - feeling good in side - it's really a life change, all part of a less stressful life, leaving SAP, doing what I feel is a quality of life direction. Basically choosing an "AND" philosophy, and not an "OR" one. Previously I had a life OR I worked my self to a stand still! You remember the days when you were leaving us, and you came to my office - I hardly had the time to have a coffee with you - well those days are over. Now I work hard, AND I make sure I'm having fun, and I have to to spend with Estelle and the kids. I try never make the OR decision too often.
Wayne Borcher Those are great reasons! I just don't have the balls, I love meat. And actually, I get cranky if I go without, at a biological level. Sounds like things are taking a turn for the positive, good stuff!
As a Vegan physician I would love to have known how many Vegans he had to perform coronary bypass procedures on. Having practiced hospital and critical care medicine for 20 years, I can’t recall ever admitting a Vegan to the hospital… that spoke volumes to me…RIP sir, Well Done!!
Someone also said there are no atheists in jail. If Dr. Wareham was in Loma Linda why was he doing so many heart surgeries on these vegan population type people?
While statistically probably true, you should be wary of making statements like this be because most non-vegans will dismiss it because there's %-wise not many vegans to encounter by default

Tom Robbins (of the Baskin Robbins family) wrote a book about the fact there would be no hunger in the world if we all stopped eating meat. He got disowned by his family because he addressed how horrific ice cream was for people's health. Whatever happened to him?
Wise Up John's financial advisor was investing Robbins' money with Bernie Madoff. He was broke, but worked his way back from nothing, by writing more books & giving lectures.

So you used to eat a bunch of meat and nothing healthy? Obviously you had problems.
oares00 I'm so happy for you!!!!

The only regret is we should have done this earlier in life.

what else did your father give up?
did he eat everything including meat, cookies, sugary drinks, etc etc, and he went vegan, or did he not eat junk, and just gave up meat?
does he eat eegs and butter or is that not part of the vegan diet?
i’m asking these questions because there is a lot a controversy with saturated fat and having fat in the diet vs a low fat vegan diet.
the doctors i follow encourage healthy fats from grass fed animals, organic butter, and organic cage free eggs. since we are made up of triglycerides and cholesterol same as fish, it should almost be automatic for humans to eat healthy fats.
but this doctor is 98 and had all his witts God bless him.
so who do we listen to?
a lot of vegans are 100 years of age and over.
the japanese are the healthiest people on the planet and they eat rice and fish, yes?
fish is loaded with EPA & DHA, those are healthy fatty acids.
in my opinion sugar and stress are the enemies, not healthy fats.
humans are at the top of the food chain, but we are not as smart as most animals because they know what not to eat. some animals eat meat, some don’t, like birds don’t eat meat. the point is they know what to eat, and what not to eat.
dogs on the other hand will eat anything. is this because they are always hungry because they don’t have enough food, or are they just as dumb as us men.
wolves eat meat, is that because that’s all they have, but there are also greens where that are, so it’s by choice.
do we follow the centenarians?
but i’m a woodworker, not a doctor. i do know that sugar, carbs, and fried foods will bring your number closer faster.

Way to go CarelessFreak
you look like a baby
I'm 34 and people say I look like I'm in my mid 20s. I eat meat, but not excessively. I think it has more to do with genetics, staying active and avoiding the sun.
I've seen 70 and 80 year olds that look like him. Damn, he looks amazing for his age. And the fact that he retired in his 90s? Epic. Makes me feel good about this vegan lifestyle.
Amen to that !!
Most 70 and 80 year olds looks worse. He has such vitality and clarity in his eyes. Straight back and even though his skin is as wrinkly as expected you can still see it looks really clear and healthy.
i am now cancer free because of veganism!
Lee Lee that's impossible I'm sorry😂
definitely not impossible
Dank Plank Lol?
Dank Plank your completely incorrect.alkalize your body reduce cancer risk. do some research simpleton .
annie belle my friends grandma was diagnosed with cancer and refused chemotherapy. She followed this 4-5 month vegan plant based diet and she was completely cancer free by the end of 4th month. The doctors were shocked
He not only looks substantially mobile, but most importantly he still has an acute level of awareness. He is a good example to his fellow humans.
He doesn't seem frail or lacking in energy like other 98 year olds. Good on him !
***** and has a bright mind too!

Nubert Strängel YES!!! www.foxnews.com/health/2014/12/16/100-year-old-surgeon-wwii-vet-who-retired-at-age-5-shares-secrets-to-longevity/
(for a reason)
I mean, just research the data yourself, there are plenty(!) of studies, which you can read.
Go here: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/
and type in "vegan" or "vegan diet" or something related and you can find yourself all the data, that clearly shows how beneficial a vegan diet is. There are also so many UA-cam Channels where you can inform yourself. I recommend: NutritionFacts.org (both a Channel and a website on its own) And btw: The president of the American College of Cardiology is a vegan! (shocking, I know)
And if it wouldn't be enough already: you would also support the planets recovery, because the farming is the main factor in the equation of environmental destruction. PLUS: Humans are not designed to eat meat. We thrive greatly on a plant-based diet, because our entire anatomy is constructed for that. (e.g. compare teeth of different kinds of animals with ours)
This doctor I'll remember for a very long time of my life and make my vegan life stronger. I'am 10 months of being vegan and loving it so much!
I hope to be a 98 year old vegan one day.

I began a Vegan diet 5 years ago in 2017 and it has improved my over all health.
What a great man. This will be me in 70 years. Practicing medicine right up until I have been in this world for a century and possibly beyond. And using a low-fat vegan diet to treat every condition imaginable.
J Van I'm curious because your comment is three years old, do you still stand by this?
I tried it for 9 days. My sciatic nerve pain from my back went away. My acid reflux stopped and my joint pain in my feet stopped. I have RA and felt awesome no joint pain. Now I know its not just BS. It was hard at first but then it got easier. Forks over knives has an awesome magazine with recipes
Thanks for sharing your experience with the sciatic nerve .
Did you change only your diet ?
Also did you have any sickness or specific illness ?
wow that is amazing !!
Try celery juice, get into Anthony William s books/videos/advices. Celery juice has helped me so much with so many symptoms, also eliminating dairy and eggs and gluten whilst slowly eliminating meat.
But the celery juice isnt just a trend, it s real and it s helping so many people.
animal agriculture is responsible for 91% of deforestation and the Amazon is being burned down 150 acres every minute destroyed and if the usa went vegan it would be equal to taking 60 million cars off the road and animal agriculture emits more emissions than all transportation in the world combined
also since we feed animals more than 10 times the amount of food we take from their body and it takes 2500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, if everyone went vegan we could cure world hunger 13 times over
He started being vegan in his mid 40s. That's very inspiring to me because I'm in my mid 40s and have recently become vegan myself, which at first I thought was a little late to start. This gives me lots of motivation to keep going.
I started. Being vegan about a year ago at age 26. Are you still on your vegan journey?

has anyone seen what they do to the poor pigs in factory farming? has anyone seen what they do to the baby cows so people can eat veal? has anyone seen what the poor ducks have to endure to create foix gras? People the madness and cruelty has got to stop!
MM N Even just so we can have dairy those poor calf's have to be turned into veil.
Ross Catto well let's not forget Tyson Chicken scandal where Hillary funded that satanic crowd with a loan that was never repaid, due to their donation, and they are completely evil their abuse of chickens is sick beyond belief...frying little baby chicks in vats of oil and smashing chickens to death against the wall they are so diabolical I hate them
MM N it's a fucked up world we live in huh?
All we can do is be the change we want to see in the world I guess.
Halley H Hi there. I think it is on a Netflix. It will certainly be on Apple Movies I’m sure. I’ve watched it twice. Good luck.
Halley H I also recommend Dr. Joel Fuhrman's books, including Eat to Live and/or Fasting and Eating for Health
He looks like he's 70 yrs old! So awesome this guy is so inspiring definitely someone to look up to! ❤️ I love you Dr. Ellsworth Wareham R.I.P.

RIP Dr. Ellsworth. Such a peaceful soul.

Fantastic. Reverses aging.
I've learned to make delicious dishes. Just go on UA-cam or Pinterest, and look at all the recipes.
Steve Stone,
I think this is very important, of lot crucial - to learn to make delicious vegan dishes. Unfortunately I still haven't, but I'm pretty sure I could make my parents go vegan when/if I learn that...
Cooked or uncooked?
He was 98 when this was recorded??! He looked about twenty years younger- not to mention his cognition and awareness is stunning. RIP.
He does not look 78. Eightysomething - maybe.

Listen to his interview here - he was saying he never liked dairy and didn’t drink it by the glass and that his mother would cook animal flesh as did his wife until his 50’s when he went completely vegan!
l am a doctor myself and must say Dr. Wareham is such an inspiration! Thank you Sir!
It's so amazing he does not look 98.. he looks like he's in his 70s ive noticed vegans look alot younger than they really are

K. Nad asian ppl look very young for their age , maybe we should follow their diet as well? Oh wait they eat meat....
Graf Lennard Von Rhein-Neckar stop commenting to comment. U clearly know nothing on the subject matter of my comment.
Considering a large percentage of Asians are devout Buddhists, I'd say a large portion follow a vegetarian lifestyle out of religious obligation.

***** I believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to.
***** LOL trollin hard
Most vegans go well out of their way to avoid anything tested so your generalization is off base. Further it takes 16lbs of grain to make 1lb of meat. 80% of all farm land is used to grow crops to feed animals for meat. Meat eaters do vastly more damage to the natural habitat.
***** Your principle is "not avoiding unnecessary harm"? "Cause unnecessary harm and don't think twice about it"? That is better? Criticizing people who go out of their way to avoid unnecessary harm is easy? I am lost to find your point.
I have converted to Vegan, people like Dr Ellsworth Wareham are totally inspirational to way of living a full and balanced life.
Wayne Borcher, are you sharing this for inspiration, or are you forsaking meat?!
I've gone all the way - and loving it
I am stunned!
Are you going to cater vegan for your wedding?
And, what was your reason for converting?
While statistically probably true, you should be wary of making statements like this be because most non-vegans will dismiss it because there's %-wise not many vegans to encounter by default
is amazing how no matter the positive messages in this video... someone could still try to find something to be negative about... if he prunes bushes and mows lawns, chances are he can still walk... but on the off chance that he can't... how many flesh consumers are still above dirt and of such a clear state of mind beyond maybe 60 or 70??? Thankhz for sharing this information Ellsworth & Veggie Channel... Wholeness n Love ((-;

Tom Robbins (of the Baskin Robbins family) wrote a book about the fact there would be no hunger in the world if we all stopped eating meat. He got disowned by his family because he addressed how horrific ice cream was for people's health.
Whatever happened to him?
He works on cattle ranch in Texas.
His name is John Robbins, and he is an author and plant-based diet advocate
nelle5151 oh right thanks. what happened to him anyway? He was so outspoken.
Wise Up John's financial advisor was investing Robbins' money with Bernie Madoff. He was broke, but worked his way back from nothing, by writing more books & giving lectures.
Im Yu wow I hadn't heard that! you mean John or the advisor made their way back? Where have I been? Haven't heard anything about that!!
Been vegetarian for 2 years after watching "what the health". Then started to convert back to eating meat this year... I feel like crap. Back to the veggies I go
I also reduce my consume on meat after watching the "what the health" documentary, don't feel bad, is a good thing that you are aware now!
Watch The Game Changers on Netflix too.If you want to see something Special watch Dominion on UA-cam or Earthlings 👌
You are what you eat. If you eat flesh of someone who suffered, you take that into your body. Fruits and vegetables are pure nutrition.
Try searching vegan recipes, there are many amazing cooks that have re-invented the recipes, that you can make yourself.
