Fantastic idea! Sick of these cheap plastic slide sockets that keep breaking. This solves that issue and hopefully is permanent. One suggestion- put a little construction adhesive on the back of the block to really secure cause these are particle board sides. Awesome!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! This was the perfect fix. Why a very important part like the back bracket that holds the rail is made out of plastic, I'll never know. You made my day. 🙂
Perfect video same drawer I have a problem with. I’ve tried others solutions but drawer kept falling off the track. Hopefully with this hack I won’t have anymore worries!! Thanks
Thanks for the video! So glad I watched this. My son told me the parts to repair these type of drawers were no longer sold! I was really bummed and thought I was going to need a kitchen makeover that I can’t afford!
Great video thanks, my son is trying to fix a kitchen drawer for me like yours. Problem is the broken slide is about 20 years old, cannot find one the same at home depot. Do you think if he bought two new sets of slides, basically replace all 4 pieces that he could fix it uses the new ones?
The screws I drilled thru the side of the runner interfered with the rollers. I end up epoxying the runner to the wood block. Worked. Used 5 minute epoxy and a spacer with shims to put pressure on it. Did both side at once.
I’m going to be working on this next week. We bought a small house from an elderly couple. The kitchen is definitely a fixer upper. All 4 drawers in the middle you have to use both hands to keep the drawers from falling when you pull them out. They are the sliding kind but I believe the sliders have all fallen in. My husband doesn’t have time so it’s my first big project. I’m thinking I’ll try to reattach all of them in a similar way. Thanks for the video. I’m researching what I need today while I count down the days til we can move 😊
I loved this and now feel confident to fix my sliding drawers if this problem arises, but the problem I’m having is the slides are attached and in place on both sides, but when sliding the drawer in it will come off the track on the left side and fall down. I’m thinking the last screw that holds this track in place needs to have a little thicker spacer to keep the drawer slid to remain in place as it slides along on the inner cabinet slide. It seems to come off track right before it gets to the last screw with the spacer. Maybe a piece of pvc pipe cut a little thicker than the spacer that’s there instead of using a block of wood as you did? You are also right about the kids hanging on the drawers! All my kids and grandkids are grown, well grown enough to not be hanging on the doors or drawers!! Thank you for your videos. I enjoy doing my own repairs and not trying to find someone to do this for me or trusting them that they know what they are doing 😊
Thanks for the useful tip. Can you do basics of using tools? I know but lot of people resort to shady stuff cause they can’t run friend games or have to con some man while their kid is picking up on it. Please be Bob the Builder for a bunch of people who don’t know a reciprocating saw from a drill press. Once you teach them, you will reach them.
Thanks for the vid I have a 7 draw tall boy and every single draw falls of its track but the tracks are all solid not wobbly at all. Gonna be a mission doing all 7 tho.
Not quite what I had in mind. My runners are flush with the wood on that part, but the metal for the part attached to the drawer no longer slides in this part of the runner. It's like they are warped out of shape or something, but still fully attached to both drawer and wall of dresser. Two of the drawers are lopsided, but it has nothing to do with your problem 😕
What about the old mounts that there were centered mounted. My house was built in 69 had centered mount have tried numerous tries with no luck My kids pulled the ones down you had but we purched a better house house with real hardwood. No luck buddy Thanks fir the help. Just didn't work fir us Keep up the good work.
Hi! my slider drawer does not open. There's nothing under the area that is stopping it as I checked. It seems to be locked or jammed? What do you suggest on how to unlock?
@@smashengineeringoffical I'm trying to make my drawer slides soft close...i gave up, because there's now like 800 lbs of Quartz on top. It may have been entirely possible with no countertop.
Videos way too long and you spend too much time on camera. UA-cam has disabled dislikes so I'll just tell you, I disliked your video. The best videos are simple and straight to the point.
Perfect, I’m going to fix mine today. It’s been broken for about 5 years!
I envisioned this fix when I was looking at my broken drawer slides. I was wondering if anyone had done that. Thanks for the illustration.

I’m going to try it, I’ve been having problems with my kitchen drawer for years!

Any videos on upgrading the hardware on these types of cabinets?

Hi, My kitchen drawer has similar slider and the small white wheel is broken. Where do i get the slider replacement? Or pls share the model name
Mom was gonna KILLLLL me, but not anymore
Now I know Thanks
How to measure the thickness of wood you are using
would work great as long as its NOT an end cabinet
Seriously would like to know how to take that clip off in the rear.
They are put in at an angle you have to twist somewhat and pull be careful doing it

Now do the video about how to slide them back in
I’m here to learn how to fix a drawer, like you said, not watch someone driving their truck through a mud puddle. 😢
Why didn't you simply put a screw in the back end plastic bracket?
If you can use deeper screws the drawer is more stable and can hold tension better.
Great fix, but please remove the musical score. It made me ill.
