Salvaged drawer brackets from old bed drawers and using to make drawers after living for 12 years without any kitchen cabinet drawers!! Zero experience THANK YOU
Great job. This video is by far the best video on You Tube for drawers . I am doing my kitchen and i was stuck on how to build the drawers. i watched so many videos and finally found the one that explains everything. Now i know how to do it. Great job friend you are a master carpenter . Thanks
Wow !! A year ago I put together piece of furniture with drawers that never worked properly. It was literally a dragging grind teetering precariously and never really functional. Immediately seeing how the mounts were placed I could see I had been backward from the beginning. Redoing and finally getting them screwed in straight has put everything on track and gliding smoothly. Yes when seeing how it's supposed to work, it actually is easy--just like you said in the beginning. Very useful!
Joe, great video. Quality is above average for what you usually see here on UA-cam. Not looking for fancy videos that teach nothing but try to sell you everything. Keep it up.
In Europe wood craftsmen are making boxes of melamine without external rails as yours. All the edges are cover by the doors and the drawers. Really nice explanation.
Your video is going to save me so much money. I have been wanting to add drawers to my vanity, where one side is for sitting and doing your makeup. I'd rather have the storage, and stand and do my makeup. Very helpful...thank you!
Hey Joe how do I know where to place the screw on the back of the slider? Does it need to be level with the the front? 😅I can’t figure out because the slide seems higher on the front
I have this problem with exact same drawer runners except the drawer is now stuck and I can't get itt out. I have removed the other drawers top and bottom of the dresser and can see that the screw is wobbly. But I can't remove the drawer. It won't move... help please what can I do?
throw them away? i used them a while ago hehe... i used this same slider in my drawer today... took me forever to attach it.. wished i watched your video earlier.
These are not for heavy drawers. The rollers don't roll but slide, end up eating away and unable to slide properly. Buy the ball bearing drawer slides now.
Women love draws? Yes we do and do you know why? Anyway, I'm installing drawers into Cabinotch boxes as well as pull out drawers into existing base cabinets with doors. (Did I mention I hate shelves?) I am using your idea of the 3/4" vertical strips in the rear instead of individual strips behind each slide. Thanks, even though I had to skip the fghjkl intro.
We are renting and we have a double drawer and the slide has lost one of it's little white wheels. It is a Blum slider and it looks exactly like the one you are installing in this video. Someone over the years has found another little white wheel that somewhat matches but it's not attached and it keeps falling off and the drawer collapses. I'd like to replace the slider. Any idea of where I could find one to replace it?
Those types of drawer sliders are pretty much the same. Take the broken one you have and go to Home Depot to see if the ones they have will match up - you'll should also take the track. You'll have to purchase a set so my suggestion is to get the set and replace both. A standard kitchen cabinet slide is 22" - they run about $8 in the big box stores.
So you showed us the inside of the cabinet but not the actual drawer and how to mount that to the drawer correctly and how it goes together. Pulling my hair out right now trying to get this drawer together and in! grrrr
139 dislikes? I don't get it. Either there are 139 miserable sods knocking about or I'm missing something. I've watched several hours worth of similar tutorials and ultimately returned to this one as to me it's the easiest to follow. Weird.
Agreed Steven W : I also have watched tons of similar videos, Joe Johns is the easiest to follow w Super Tips embedded + with Entertaining Intro! /Thank you Joe Great Stuff!
Greetings, I'm glad to have come across your video - maybe you can help me. I have a kitchen drawer that all of a sudden, when I try and open it, one side tends to require a little more force to open . I noticed that the little wheel to rolls along the slider, once the drawer is completely closed, the wheel is off the slider. The wheel on the right remains on the slider. What could be causing one wheel to come off the slider and the other to remain? Thanks!
Sounds to me like the runner wheel on that side went tits up or perhaps the runner itself moved out of position, meaning the wheel is not riding properly in the groove.
the trough on the one side is holding the wheel in place. If the runner on the other side moved out of position then that wheel will be forced out of the trough. Readjust the runner.
Yep, the wheel would get worn down by it not running properly in the runner track. Now you might get by if you readjust the runner but if the wheel is worn that badly or has flat spots on it then you'll most like have to replace that side of the drawer slide assembly.
sir thanyou for getting back to me,all i could find at lowes were longer screws like the ones that came with the runners. secondly i never thought of using a vix bit to center the holes,i have a set of4 of these. dick bailey
bro its a cabinet draw video not the party for independence jeez turn down the music next time should be the edited writing spinning off in blue party revolution parade level of music.. apart from that it was great

It’s been 11 years and this video is still a great help 👍

Thank you for this video, am building cabinets with face frames myself and I have to do drawers. The information was very helpful.
Good tip on the screws man. I ran into the same thing. Good stuff, thanks.

You are most welcome.
That is a great tip for installing slides. Many thanks!
Did you say a 1/2 inch "proud"? Never heard that before, I like it.
Hey Joe how do I know where to place the screw on the back of the slider? Does it need to be level with the the front? 😅I can’t figure out because the slide seems higher on the front
Love the explanation... "...it looks stupid...!!!" I am not BS-ing... 👌👌👌
Almost 10 years later I watch this video.
If the inside width of cabinet was 400mm what size would the width of the draw have to be to with these runners.
I have this problem with exact same drawer runners except the drawer is now stuck and I can't get itt out. I have removed the other drawers top and bottom of the dresser and can see that the screw is wobbly. But I can't remove the drawer. It won't move... help please what can I do?
When you glue and staple the particle board what glue did you use and how deep does the staples need to go into the cabinet sides?
throw them away? i used them a while ago hehe... i used this same slider in my drawer today... took me forever to attach it.. wished i watched your video earlier.
Part II is up there now.
I'm years late.. but thanks as soon as I searched drawer slides this popped up and helped so much. Ty for sharing
learned quite a bit from this video. I have a different style of original brackets and now I know how to retrofit the newer style brackets.
I'm looking forward to do the drawers myself thank you guys
These are not for heavy drawers. The rollers don't roll but slide, end up eating away and unable to slide properly.
Buy the ball bearing drawer slides now.
Not bad tips, I guess, but I started you video thinking you would show how to match the two slide pieces. I will keep on looking then.
Can anybody tell me what's the role of this music, please?
By "music" I assume you are referring to the opening theme? Why, it's from Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Thanks Joe
Agrivating music. Other than that, two thumbs up.
Basic irritation plus uselessness.
That's Monty Pythons music, wonderful.
Thank you, you saved my day.
Thanks Joe! Any new videos? Great tips. Explained well for a beginner like me.
What size hex bit you use

Yes yes we do, in fact I’m building one right now

Why aren't you using drawer sockets for side drawer slides
That one is about 15'' long . . . What about a shorter one like 9'' ? (start cutting the rails) ?
Thank you sir😭👍🫡
"women love drawers" lol
He is right. Traditional base cabinets with a door are a waste of space.
You are correct but do you know the reason why? Think about it.
Sevil Sevdiyar we like organization
Wow everthing is wobbly when the camera moves about

Your awesome
This was in 2012, most recent video 2 years ago
Too much jingle bells before start to saying nothing. No actual doing or measuring.
You can go to woodprix if you would like to make it yourself guys.
Thank you
this helped me solve my problem thanks :)

Summary of the first 3 minutes:
The screws that came with your euroslides suck.

Joe Johns I noticed that the wheel in question is a bit worn compared to the right wheel which is like brand new...
