    Seeing that those plastic parts in the rear of a soft close mechanism were supposed to slide made readjusting our off-kilter drawer an easier task. Thank you

    Thanks to your excellent video I was able to fix my kitchen drawer. Once I removed it I fould it had slid down on the front, right side. I moved it up. Put in the screw and put a screw in the bottom hole for extra security.
    Job done.
    First time I have worked on a drawer and it was nice not to have to call someone out to fix it.

    Great variety of videos. I don't know why you stopped but I hop you begin again soon. Great ideas on design and all kinds of projects and repairs. Thank you.

      Thanks Jack. I stopped much of the work back at the end of May. A death in my family interrupted my efforts. Rough summer and fall, but now it's time to look ahead. I have completed 2 new videos and should be back to regular new videos soon. I have one coming up on "Bespoke Design" and another on the use of tile back splashes. Stay tuned! :)

    Thank you for your video. It was more thorough in describing how a drawer works than others. I am inquiring about that piston mechanism. Can it be adjusted? My problem is with a torn rotator cuff in a brand new condo the drawers are so stiff to open that it has made my symptoms worse. 2/18/2024

      The pistons I have seen are not adjustable. I have had similar injuries to yours. Perhaps try a different body position when opening so you don't put so much stress on the injury portion. If it is a big problem for you, the drawer track can be changed to and older style which just rolls close with gravity. Here is a link to the type. www.amazon.com/Franklin-Brass-D68822K-W-B-Self-Closing-10-Pack/dp/B0BH9GGF8F/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=self%2Bclosing%2Bdrawer%2Bslides&sr=8-10&th=1

    I'm so frustrated with my kitchen drawers. My hubby and I inherited a house and the cabinetry needs work!!! I see that you're here in Rochester, NY. Do you ever do work for people like my hubby and I who don't have a clue on how to fix?🤔🤔🤔

    I’m glad you mentioned soft closed pistons that need to be replaced, but I can seem to find the parts. Is there another way to reuse the old piston with diy seal?

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Рік тому

      I'm not sure. If you have a capable repair person, they might be able to repair or offer suggestion. The easiest is to replace the whole unit if you can find the pistons.

    Not that I am aware of. Although if the cabinet is level drawers should not rolled closed on their own unless pushed. Some gravity close when only open part way.

    7:51 I have the under drawer mounts that closely resemble the ones you have at this time in video, however this did not work for me. I see a slight skip or something in the video, I wonder if I’m missing a step.

    My drawers are hard to open. I have to lift them to do so. Mine are like the second one you show; plywood. How do I fix it?

    Wondering what to do about my kitchen drawers. The are tough to fix because it is one slider in the center. The screws get loose In the very back and it is so tough to tighten and fix them. Thinking that maybe I should change the mechanism. Advice?

    Hello Gordon. I have slider mechansims that look like the one you show at 8:04 in this video. However, mine don't have the ease-release tabs like your drawer does. I don't see any visible means of adjusting the closing alignment (so the drawer front fits flat against the cabinet). How do I adjust these?

    I had my mother’s kitchen upgraded with drawers that have the soft close mechanism (you refer to this as your best mechanism in this video). Ours is very similar, has the exact same adjustments on the clips. However, the clips on mom’s occasionally disengage from the tracks on their own. I had a close look and it appears the clips barely hold onto the metal track. I can’t find any adjustment on the clip itself to fix this. I was thinking about cutting some of the plastic out of the clips in front of the part that engaged with the track but I don’t want to break something else. Is there some other adjustment I am not seeing? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

    my hinges come loose european style type can i puta little lock tight or thread tape to stop it from loosing ,,?

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  2 роки тому

      Sure. The older styles cam lose more often and that helps keep them tight.

    I have a night stand with clips on each side of the glides. The drawer will never open up to its full potential. How do I get the clips to release? Also can these clips be removed permanently. They are a real nuisance! Thank you

    Not seeing anything about adjustments. My trash bag drawer no longer stays closed!!

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Рік тому +1

      I assume this is not a soft close unit. Check all of the mounting screws to make sure they are tight. It may be the front screws are loose and that dropped the front of the unit down which might explain why it is drifting open. Also some drawer tracks have a rubber friction lock at the back which holds the unit closed. It may be worn out or not engaging properly.
