I was lucky enough to have an '85 Diesel BJ60. Adored it, and it's bullet-proof 4 cyl engine and rock n' roll attitude, but unfortunately the frame rusted out. This week I've returned to the family with a gorgeous black beauty 2000 LX470, with a rocket fueled V-8. Thank-you Toyota for creating one of the best lines of cars ever made.
I grew up with a 2004 100 series. The 2UZ-FE V8 always put a smile to my face. We owned it for over 310K miles before we decided to donate to charity due to the repair bills getting too expensive (rust belt state) someone bought it at auction for 10 grand back in 2016! Allegedly, it gets to live offroad up in Maine!
Kiddomike Can someone please tell me the difference between a 200 series and the regular land cruiser? I own a 2002 4.7L Land cruiser, is it a 200 or just a regular one?
Nekson smith Well, it's not a 'regular one'. If I'm not mistaken you have the 100 series Land Cruiser, a predecessor to the current model of Land Cruiser. The 200-series Land Cruiser has a similar platform with Lexus's LX570. Toyota also claims that the suspension is more heavy duty than the previous model Land Cruisers. All models of the 200 series (except the GX model in some countries) have the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which allows the 200 series to be more adaptive to the terrain it drives on. The new model also introduced some comfort conveniences like Keyless entry, push-button start engine and 4-zone climate control. Toyota also claims that the new 200 series has a lighter and stronger frame. Features differ by region. In my country they only have the 4.5 Liter Twin-turbo diesel engine, which is a really powerful workhorse and has a respectable gas-mileage. The previous generation Land Cruisers are still one of the best out there. It just so happens that with innovations in the automative industry, they incorporate that to their newer car models. I'm sure it would be the same story with the next generation Land Cruiser.
With tire chains and proper tires, my old land cruiser goes through 8 foot snow drifts easily. No locking diffs, but it does have solid axles front and rear.
I used to work for a Lexus dealership. We often get the old trade in Land Cruiser or LXs. Many of them way over 300k miles easy, and still running strong, still worth a lot of money!
We love landcruisers but they just don’t sell them as much here but the shitty landrover are every where guessing it’s because landrover are more easily brought here in uk

A road with a little bit of snow on it isn't what you would call offroading. Especially when others have been there before you and made a track for you 🤣
Toyota LandCruiser, one of the best vehicles ever made. I love my diesel 80 series

This was enormous back then, now its practically mid sized for what's on the roads here in America
Yeah, big useless piles of rubbish!
Old saying: " If you want to visit the outback, drive a Land Rover and if you want to return in one piece, drive and land Cruiser"
I love how he says "That's done, thank you," after doing everything to go offroad. It's so adorably English.
Brexit even!
4:00- further proof that Richard Hammond is no good at driving in a straight line without having a crash 😂
he couldnt see over the steering wheel
He’s drivning outside of my hometown Östersund.

You should only use low range in snow if you are going up a steep hill, otherwise its more likely to cause you to dig in the snow and get stuck
