I still got my 2000 Landcruiser 100 series,, still runs good. No dents, no engine leaks, no differential leaks. The only things I've changed over the years are brake pads, suspension parts and engine, gearbox and diff oils.. I love it. Cant imagine replacing it..
I know, I have a TD 80 which is majorly modded for touring, an American asked me if its for expedition- I said wtf? For camping! I have a blue 1FZ 100 like the video which is for my missus
This is the best car ever ! Never had a single issue with it ! Ever ! We drove it throughout Spain and all over Morocco, including the desert, and the sound of the exhaust is simply unique and still rings in my ears every time I remember it 🥹
It really shows the difference between U.S vehicles and vehicles in the rest of the world, especially Europe. Over there something like that is gigantic, whereas here in the U.S I see dozens of vehicles this size and even bigger every day it doesn't even phase me.
Would love to have that version available in the states. Diesel engine, LX wood trim and accessories and Land Cruiser front end. Beautiful color as well!
I think some of the early 1998 Land-cruisers with the 4.2 diesel may be able to be imported to the US this year (2023). It would be great to get my hands on one
The fact that so many of these currently have 200-300,000 miles on the clock and are barely run-in says so much. Complete tanks if you look after them, serviceable units if you don't.
I found a manual petrol v8 one owned by my uncle, who very kindly gifted the car to me since they don`t want to keep a 20 yr old box in their garage. Now I`m just doing researches about it and learning how to do off-roading. Cuz I`m still more of a sports car guy.
@Ch.Hassan raza Tarar I later figured out that`s the 4.5 I6, not the V8, but still petrol though. The manual is extremely fun to play with, a different kind of fun from those manual sports cars. The car is very solid and I`ve done a few road trip with it. It gives zero fuck about the road conditions and just goes like nothing. I love it.
How good would it be if you could still buy a brand new one today! Given that the current ones on the road are now soon 25 years old, and holding up well (with plenty of abuse thank you very much): You could probably drive a MY2023 100 series until the sun implodes…
One of the most reliable cars in this world
My dad bought one back in 2000 brand new with 60 miles! Now I own it and it has 164k miles and counting. I drive it everyday.
TheBravo13x not even half-dead yet
Only just run in
Don't forget to add it in your will , your kids wouldn't have to fight over it.
@@praveenhegde8107 haha. TRUE !!!

That 1HD-FTE engine is the best straight 6 diesel ever made. Emissions was the only reason they stopped making it.
The official engine of "No low ballers, I know what I have," and knowing what you have.
21 years later 1998 l/cruisers are still good
And still worth a pretty penny for its age!
I love it how the British are amazed at what is the norm in Australia.

LIVE ACTION 4WDING I think the middle east has beaten you in that.
And in Russia
And 22 years later ,Richard looks older than the same landcruiser 100 he was reviewing.😊😊😊😊
Bet you any money that lc in this video is still on the road today lol
I love this car! We have Lexus LX470 amazing quality &

That turbo spooling just made my day

I've always had a special place in my heart for that I6 turbo diesel. The way it sounds, OMG
A wonderful review from richard. The sound of exhaust is absolutly gorgeous.

the young Hammon
Any 1 here in 2019
Yes but only because I'm buying a 97 plate one to off road!
I just bought a 98model diesel limited edition with Timber interior
Why does he think it is so big? The 100 series was actually fairly compact, especially by modern standards.
haha its for uk roads
Lathan Starnes in England it was huge.
because he's 4' 8" and a half

To us puny Europeans this looks huge! I would think driving this up here in Scandinavia would be so smart with out tiny roads
Ooh, a looooot of amazing times ahead waiting for this young man :D
Would love to have that version available in the states. Diesel engine, LX wood trim and accessories and Land Cruiser front end. Beautiful color as well!
I want one more than a land rover
Watching this in 2020. Anyone else?
This is a car meant to last forever!
*slaps roof of car* This bad boy will do 1 million kms and outlive you, if regular maintenance is done
Well, at least he never crashed it.:)
If only he knew what legendary car he had there at the time

Actually the engine was 4.7L, not 4.6L.
finally some one notice it
this was 4.2L diesel.
We have the 2003 V6 Petrol in white amazing car
I believe in 3 only 1- TOYOTA/land cruiser. 2-NISSAN/patrol. 3-CHEVY_GMC/suburban.
+Abdulla Alsada GM is trash
Tomahawk Studios Will i assume Ford is Better?
Not even lol
Honda ;)
1 yes 2 yes 3 was that a joke lol
I would love to have that rig today in the USA 🇺🇸
Try OTTOEX.com. Importer of Japanese Domestic Market cars and trucks . Be sure it is 25 years old at least and has 17 digit VIN.
It has a 4.7 liter petrol engine, not a 4.6 liter. The 4.6 arrived later with the next gen Cruiser.
2UZ-FE 4.7 V8 made 235bhp/173kw.
TB48-DE 4.8 inline 6 made 245bhp/185kw.
at the time of tis comment, the amount of views is the EXACT same amount is the subscriber count
Any one here in 2020😂
Richard Hammond looks like Alan Partridge here.
Im 5’6.5”, would I be able to drive a car like this land cruiser?
Its a young Hammond! Hamster! 🐹

I don’t know why I’m watching this in 2019. Especially when we had one since 2006.
Loaded with technology😂
we have this car and we enjoy desert safari
who watch this in 2016?
Aditya Putratama 2017
Aditya Putratama 2017 bud
its 2018 already
hdj 80 was the last landcruiser
Hammonds freaking dress shoes 🤣
It is like every 10 years, he keeps his hair long, in 1998, and in 2008-11 period. He might not now.
Why does it say V6 turbo diesel on the description?
Because it has a v6 turbo diesel engine
+Chris M it does not
+sekopiski the European model does
+Chris M it does not.
+sekopiski it does, Hammond says it in the video and you can look it up any where on the web
The first hint that Richard was really, a red blooded American
I have a 1990 80 series
The misses has a 1998 105 series
nice motor were can i buy a engine like this one
He looks like David Essex love child
Hammound has Clarkson style humour ??
Riadh Ben Malik go away
Toyota Best Fucking Brand Ever
Suv = diesel ♥️
He looks like a teenager here. Teenage girl to be more specific.
He's not a real hamster
Do anything other than tickle the v8 lightly under the chin.... Leaves no doubt whatsoever what you are talking about.
i dont get why he thinks its so big. I walk past one of these every day and it's tiny.. I think my hilux is easily as big
superspeeed at that time yes its big, even corolla at the time is size as yaris sedan now
Funny how he says 13 seconds to 100 is acceptable
IT IS!
Acceptable considering it's not a Tupperware princes for paved roads like many 'modern' SUV's
Back then it was.
