When I got married in Dubai we had a day out in the desert bombing it around the sand dunes in one of these. What an absolute monster it was. Absolutely ate up that terrain with us in perfect air conditioned comfort inside. Seriously impressive bit of kit. I definitely have a soft spot for these things. Great choice for content 👍🏻
@@TheCarGuysTVit’s funny to see people these days putting carpet or some kind of tacky dash covering to protect it from U.V rays. I recommend getting clear or colored high end windshield film. I’m here in florida where it’s super sunny and we did 2 of our cars for $1,800 all the windows including sunroof. And it’s literally Like standing under a tree or inside a house almost with the amount of Infa rays 98% that the film filters out. I’d recommend on any car that you want to keep the dash like new or top of door cards. Plus you can make it darker or lighter in color for privacy. We went with darker smoky film. Here everyone in florida gets it in there cars. I used the Prime Xpel XP film. I don’t sell it or promote it. Just from car guy to car guy. We have 12 cars. I’ll be getting on them all in various levels of color. With that high I.V shielding. Love the Channel buddy:)
My dad imported one from UAE to iraq in 99, he used it to drive to building sites, he was an inspecter, he drove about 30k miles every year, did so untill that thing had 300k miles, or about the same distance from here to the moon, not a single problem, not one, then my uncle took it as we moved to norway, still going strong today with 500k miles, only issue is a broken transmission after trailering a 8 ton digger for over 3 years almost daily. These bad boys will outlive us all.
Got in one in Victoria falls to go back to the airport. The temp was 40 C but that was all forgotten when we started making progress in this palace on wheels. The crappy roads, dust and muck were easy prey for this ultra reliable beast. A class act who needs a Range Rover. Excellent stuff Damian. 👍
These are still common on the roads in Australia. I was surprised to see a petrol one in the U.K., as they are rare here. The last of the inline straight 6 diesels had a twin cam head and they bring more money than a used 200 series twin turbo 4.5 V8 diesel if you can find one for sale, as they were bulletproof. The V8 diesel not so much so. The land cruiser that I want is the FJ55, as they are the most Japanese looking car ever.
Thats the most immaculate one ive ever seen and now pretty much depreciation proof. If want to go exploring buy a range rover......if you want to come back, buy a Land cruiser amazon. 👍👍👏👏
They come up on the classifieds here in Portugal, 400 000km + and more expensive than most new cars :D Should have a TTS badge, Toyota Tank Series. I have a soft spot for these, there was an amazing one that came up a few years ago, had a roof rack, three spare tires, 80's obligatory orange and yellow decals and a fridge! You could commute to Mongolia.
I have always admired these since I was a kid in Japan. Naturally you saw these often enough on the roads there. Maybe one day I’ll have one - or a Hilux of the same period.
Spent many happy hours as front seat passenger in one of these in South Africa inc on safari. Cousin Peter (driver) would regularly stop to take pics out of the sun roof standing on the centre arm rest. Mega cars built to last.
I heard somewhere recently that in Australia they have a saying; “If you want to go to the outback, take a Land-rover. If you want to come back, take a Land-cruiser”
Just spent 3 weeks driving in Namibia on some pretty awful gravel and sand roads in a Toyota Fortuner. Absolutely brilliant, reliable and unbreakable vehicle. Temperature gauge never once deviated from normal in 40c + heat. Can see why you would love the Amazon, it blows the opposition into the weeds. About 90% of vehicles in Namibia are Toyotas.
Ive got a j200 my dad had a j100 ! Im 49 when i was a kid i sat in a toyota dealers drooling over j60 i always new i would get a cruiser really the best motors on the planet . great vid Damian.
Parked my Yaris next to one on the dog walk today and it was on elevated suspension and had knobbly tyres on. And still managed to look utterly cool and would take you to the moom and back unlike anything from JLR. The Australian Toyota commercial " Country Border Security" is still the best summary of these tough Toyotas, and funny to boot. They do shooting up on our estate and they posh folk turn up with the Range Rovers and manage to shoot zero pheasants. The beaters are all in Toyotas and Mitsubishis etc, then they get to actually shoot some birds with accuracy at the end of season as a thanks. Just sayin... Get one.
...Annnnd now I want a Land Cruiser. One of these will sit nicely next to my mint condition ST150. I'm searching the Australian classifieds now. 1990's era Toyota was the best.
Love that you have a fondness for this car. A fair few of them around in Sydney, but you can always spot the nice one that an owner adores such as this stunning piece
Wow! I thought I was going mad. I live in Wokingham and the other week I’m walking up Peacock Lane in Bracknell this huge green Landcruiser drives past and I remember thinking “f**king hell that driver looks just like Damian from car guys “ then I saw this latest video!!! What did you think of Royal Bracknell , pride of the Green Belt??😂
Hey Damian, big fan of the channel and big fan of the Land Cruiser. I’m with you, I would have the VX as well. I feel I should bust your chops a little for using an 80 series for the diagram though 😜 Keep up the good work mate 👍
"Reverse parking the Vatican" 😂😂😂 - that was on point! Great to see my own Cruiser's exact doppelganger on the telly 😀 They are not common cars in Land Rover loving Britain. It is an ace car indeed, and yes a lot of silly fun just as you describe. I got mine mainly for touring and hope to hang on to it for as long as They deign to allow me. BTW Don't dismiss the diesel - it has a lot of grunt and sounds great under power - and really is bombproof, with huge amounts of unused performance engineered in (can be easily remapped). Fantastic cars! Thanks!
The hotel got a plug in your video, what about the mechanic that’s been maintaining her to keep her in perfect running condition? 🤣🤣 that’s me Toyotatech 👍🏻

I like the ruggedness and offroad capability of my 96 80 series but would love to also have a late diesal 100 series with its independent front suspension and hydraulically controlled, although i don't know if available with manual gearbox. I also wish that a 6 speed box was available in 'all' Landcruisers ! 😊
Keep the variety coming damien! I still prefer the super cars etc... but how could a petrol ⛽️ head not love and appreciate this beast of a wagon 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

I’ve gotten rid of all my modern cars, they have no feel or character and have a mk1 MR2, a mk1 Golf gti and sold my modern VW Touareg and bought back my old Toyota RAV4. Cheers from T.
What a legendary car! I'm curious though, are these the same headlights as the LS400 XF20 (from 1994)? Of course I could just google it, but hey it's Friday.
I really love this vehicle, absolutely magnificent and nice to see it on your channel. The only thing that bugs me is that IMO it's squeaking a little bit too much. Was that from the trim/chassis or just squeaky leather? I can't help feeling its too squeaky even for a toyota landcruiser of that age. Maybe the lexus version would be less prone to squeaks
Get A pajero swb or a land cruiser 70th swb. I have heard that you can order land cruiser 70th from the factory on some special requests though you need to pay extra. Land cruiser 7p is still in production for middle east and japan and is made in japan itself so buying them in any right hand drive country wouldn't be an issue. Many people in other countries buy such toyotas though they are never released in those countries.

Hi mate, does your land cruiser is a diesel or petrol?
Amazing story. Which model and engine?
If it was imported from UAE it had to be the V8 petrol
Thank you Damian for giving my Land Cruiser her moment of fame, she looks amazing and both the film and your banter are brilliant.

If I'm not mistaken it has hydraulic suspension and that is a very cool feature which very much defines the way it goes down the road!
