Started keto this January. Had to take 3 bp pills daily but "forgot" to take them a couple of days in a row a couple of times but measured on a regular basis. Bp is in the 120s /80s most of the time, and even lower when I'm relaxed and not running around. Also, I lost 40 Ibs so far. How do I tell my doc that I don't need the pills anymore🤔???
Thank you so much Dr. Berry, you are my hero❤️
I had to switch Doctors to find one who understands Keto/Carnivore diets, I'm down 100lbs so far. When I follow the diet closely my diabetes goes away and my BP lowers to a normal range. When I cheat around the holidays, blood glucose and BP go back up. I use Real salt and just salt to taste. Remember you pay them for a service the Doctors don't pay me to see them, and thats how I treat them. Politely.
@@sdolsay Congratulations on your achievements 🎉. I hope I can reason with mine coz I'm actually very pleased with him. Haven't talked to him about keto yet, wanted to show him the results first, so he wouldn't be able to talk me out of it. Now there's no way he could 😁. Maybe he'll be on board but the thing with the bp pills... He won't be too happy I experimented on myself🙃. Here in Germany, we thankfully don't have to pay for our doctors and only very little if medication is prescribed (5€/med),due to our health care system. Thank you and keep up the good work and health👍🏼🙏🏻
@@sujatiesler3917 Good luck to you, I think you have a good plan, hope your Doc goes for it! BTW my Mother was born in Austria and my Grand Parents were born in Romania.

If you lose 40 pounds, your blood pressure is going to go down and your doctor is going to reduce your medication, or eliminate it completely, since it seems your blood pressure is normal now without the medication. Go see him. Listen to what Dr Berry said at the end, here!
I am 67 years old and was diagnosed with Hypertension (BP = 179/130). Doctor wanted me to start meds, I said I needed to do some research. I came across your videos on youtube and started watching them. I started Keto / Carnivore 4 weeks ago, went from eating 3-4 meals per day (high sugar, high carb) to only eating 1 to 2 meals day (sated by the red meat, bacon, eggs, salmon). I also eliminated all processed foods, pizza, sweets, soda, alcohol, grains, fruits (except for blueberries). I had my BP checked this morning because I was feeling dizzy. BP was 117/74!!! I had it checked again, 120/77!!! My BP has not been this low since I was in college (1973) running Track and Cross Country. This convinced me that my problem was just as you stated, I've been killing myself slowly with my high sugar, high carb diet for 60 years! I was also experiencing tingling in my feet (pre-diabetes) and enlarged prostate. The tingling is almost gone in my right foot and my prostate must be shrinking as my urine stream is stronger. This is all on the level, no BS. I've always felt that the western diet is to blame for most of our illnesses. Thanks for showing me a new way to eat and salvage my health. I've also been active most of my life, either running 3-5 miles per day or cycling 20 miles per day. Obviously that wasn't enough. You're a smart guy, thank you for sharing your research and knowledge.
Thanks for your observations regarding prostate on keto diet! Very impressive.
How's your BP now?
Congratulations, brother!!!
So happy for you! I’ve been over 200 diastolic and 110 systolic Keto did not help and loosing 50lbs did not help. I’ve been Carnivore for one week and am finally beginning to see an improvement. I realized that I must be super insulin resistant. Thanks for sharing your story. Soooo inspirational!
Absolutely right bro. Not just western, eastern, Indian and all diets are full of carbs and sugars. It’s just how we were conditioned ever since Hunter gatherer days were over, people started cultivating grains to find cheap and easy ways to fill oneself.
I have learned to stop caring if I upset my doctor. It's MY body and I'll die or thrive by the decisions I make concerning the upkeep of this body .... not him. His job is to advise me. Not to rule over me.
Amen!!! 💯
My dad had surgery to repair his AAA...they put him on a very low sodium diet and had him eating a bunch whole grains which he normally eats low carb...they took his coffee from him...and his BP skyrocketed and the docs had not idea why and put him on three meds and it didnt help. I told my dad go back to eating salt and ur low carb diet dor a week and take ur BP three times a day and document what happened...well his BP went back to normal!!! He even drinks coffee....the surgeon told him....whatever it is that u are doing....keep doing it! And they are getting him off the BP meds
Good onya!!
Sad part is that the same doc will go on to the next HBP patient and sell them the low salt high carb diet
Good for you!
@@Xzyu2 abdominal aortic aneurysm that he had likely had for years says his surgeon...my dad is 64 yrs old and for the last 3 yrs had been low carb. Fascinating. Glad you knew how to help your dad.
My new doctor (young guy) put me on the keto diet. I asked him about my high blood pressure and he said keto would take care of it. It’s been 3 weeks and I lost 18 lbs. I all of a sudden don’t need to eat breakfast. My acne has cleared. it looks like it’s working. It’s hard sometimes but im going to keep going. I have a lot of weight to lose.

SALT IS IMPORTANT
10:40 ANSWER: to eat a LOW CARB diet, under 100 g of carbs a day. Some people, under 50g. Other people, under 20g.
thanks!!!
Thankfully the answer!
I was on Blood Pressure medicine for 8 years, and 2 years I started the Keto/Carnivore lifestyle and my blood pressure went to normal within a MONTH! I simply cut out All SUGAR of any kind and I use the Redmond season salt on all my meats. My cardiologist was blown away! I also had a mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation and it has healed itself; just by keeping my blood pressure at normal! I feel better, look better and will never go back. Dr. Berry and Nurse Neisha are Amazing!
Why Redmond seasoned salt ?
Great advice Dr Berry! My mother truly believed in the low salt, low cholesterol, low fat dogma that was the 1950s, 60s and 70s. She raised me not to cook with salt or add salt to my foods. Nothing said about sugar or other carbs and I was the poster child then of the overweight carb addicted person who just got bigger and bigger as time went on. I did a lot of reading and decided in 2019 to try the keto/low carb diet as a last resort before I was too sick to live anymore. The change was amazing. After packing on weight for 40 years I am still a work in progress but I lost over 130 pounds and am amazed at how good food tastes with salt and without sugar clogging up my life. I love listening to your videos as you explain things where everyone can understand them.
good for you my friend you turned your life around and did it on your own. I did the same
Thank you for sharing! That is amazing.
I love when you said, "how good food tastes with salt, and without sugar clogging up my life".
That is so true. The sugar also changes the taste buds AGAINST real food!
My mother in law ate that way after her heart attack at age 54. She died at 89 after years of pills for various heart issues. Dementia eventually took her life. I think her quality of life would have been so much better on keto.
Congrats on your new life ❤️

I used to have high BP at every doctor visit...I thought it was white coat syndrome because at home it was fine. Now after being Keto for 17 months..it was normal at home AND at the doctors office 👏

Cardiologist's protocol to take blood pressure:
1. Take a.m. BP at the same time each day before eating breakfast or drinking coffee, with empty bladder, sitting, feet flat on the floor. Use left arm, rested on a stable surface. Rest for a couple of minutes after placing cuff on arm before activating monitor.
2. Take p.m. BP in essentially the same manner, but at least two hours after eating.
3. Record your readings to share with your doctor, especially if you are prone to white coat syndrome at the doctor's office.

Let me ask you a question. I lost 65 lbs in about a year. My very HIGH blood pressure is now low, maybe to low. NO MEDICATION. I get a little dizzy from time to time. Did your body adapt to it, and if so how long.

A few days ago I took my BP at home and it was 217/143. I have not wanted to see a doctor or take any meds because when I did last time I had a mild stroke, so now I am doing carnivore and it's going down. 187/112. I am 65. I am so grateful to truth tellers like you!

How's your pressure now?
Same! We started carnivore and keto in my home Jan 1st. My husband had his blood pressure last checked in Sept and it was 170/105, and I can promise you that his eating and smoking did not improve during the time since so it was probably higher when we started. One month in and he's down to 150/80. Not perfect, but so much better.
Wonderful progress.
I had an atrial valve replacement and was told to keep my blood pressure as low as possible. Two years later after really studying the issue I realized that I have been suffering from normal procedures that cardiologists depend on. I am 78 and can no longer stand the pain of statins I had been taking for twenty years or the low blood pressure. I have been studying supplements and nutrition plus other opinions online. Since quitting statins I feel much better and fully alive again. I take a lot of supplements but at low doses hoping to stay well with my wife for many more years.

That’s exactly what my doctor(S) told for for thirty years. All told me I had hereditary hypertension and that there was nothing I could do about it. For thirty years I took medication. #1 way I discovered recently to lower your blood pressure, is to walk every day, two miles or more. Try this: Don’t exercise for two days, then take your blood pressure on the third day. Then walk two miles minimum per day, at a moderate pace, for two days and then take your blood pressure the next day. You’ll see a huge difference. Definitely do the diet thing also, but get out and get some exercise. Get the blood flowing. Of course, follow your doctor‘s instructions on exercise and don’t overdo it.
My nurse said 30 min a day, im like ...I do that in my house, I literally never sit. Lol I'm wired. Not hitting 2 mile brisk walks though.
@@MommaLousKitchen You can work up to two miles and more. Just take it easy as you go and consult with your doctor if you have any issues. If you walk up a small mountain/hill, say, maybe 400 feet of vertical rise, you’ll get a good workout and if you come back in two or three days, you’ll find it gets much easier the second, third and fourth times. Just pace yourself and don’t try go faster than your ability, or keep up with someone faster. Cheers!

Great content as usual Doc. Any chance you have an updated cholesterol video coming out?
Thank you for all your videos! You give my wife and I info which we have been able to lose lbs and inches like we have never been able to do in the past without the intense hunger! We are only in the first month but feel so much better. Thank you again!
The best explanation of low salt hypothesis I've ever seen in youtube.
Thanks Doc! You are truly a hero. I've lost about 10 kilos (Sept 2020 - Nov 2021).
I 🥰 your sideways bookstacks. Love seeing what a good man like you, keeps on your bookshelf. 🙌
I’m so thankful for you I had been experiencing HTN and I think it was from what I had eaten & drank so I immediately drank water & stopped eating, just taking in water. I still have a ways to go and not on meds and like you I don’t take any meds...I did take low dose aspirin which helped during that HTN... I am also hard headed. I am restarting Keto and look forward to a healthier me and lots of poundage going away
Always speaking the truth! Dr. Berry healing the world!
Recently changed my vet since the previous one put both my senior cats on low dose of blood pressure meds and they’re very sluggish now. Cats eat carnivore and grain free. New vet took readings and said both have normal BP and don’t need the meds. Yay for my cats!
My hubby and I, in our late 50’s, have normal BP on keto/ketovore lifestyle (he’s lost 71 lb and I’ve lost 41 since last August).
Thank you Dr Berry for everything!
Wow! Such great news! Gives me hope.
Thank you Dr. for all of the shared knowledge. I learn more daily from your videos. Looking forward to to lower BP following a keto diet for just over a month feeling so much better and lighter. Bless you.
Thanks Doc for all you do.. You're a good man. This gives me hope.
Thank you Dr. Berry! Need this video info to improve my bp👍
Thankfully you have lessened my fears of having "high" blood pressure.
Very insightful!
Love your earlier recommendations on “Redmond’s Real Salt “. Tastes great without tasting overly salty. Got lucky and found it at a local Mennonite store.
I use pink himalayan natural salt.
I’m so relieved- my last 2 doc visits my BP was 130/80. I’ve been worried that I was developing hypertension. I got a home BP monitor and now I’m going to track. I just measured today and I was 128/80. I added some more cardio to my weekly routine.
Love your messages! Keep on keeping on. You are helping so many people. Thank you. May God Bess you and your family.
👌🏼 Thank you Dr. Berry! God bless you and your family! 🙏🏼 😊
Dr Berry, I love your videos and have learned so much from you! I am currently doing a ketovore diet, and follow many of your recommendations. What is your view of eating fermented foods? I see a lot of conflicting info out there, but I trust your opinion if you get a chance to answer 😊
I follow the carnivore/lipivore diet. Staying under 20 grams a day is EASY !!!
This information makes SO much sense! Thank you Dr Berry!!
Always such clear information, well-delivered. I don’t have high blood pressure, but this is good info for everyone. Thank you for all you do!
My doctors have always told me my blood pressure was high and I needed to be on medication. So lisinopril 10 mg is what they give me per day. However when my blood pressure reaches what they think is optimal I feel light-headed and start feel like I'm going to pass out. I have been saying this to them for years. I started to just take half of that amount. I've always told them my grandfather also had really high blood pressure and live to be 85 and when he died it was a blood clot in his knee from a replacement surgery from an old WW2 injury.
I'm 70 and I've taken medication for high blood pressure ever since I wrecked my knees playing racquet ball for 20 years. While playing 3-4 times a week a couple hours at a time, my bp was 120 over 70 with a pulse of 55 bpm. After the knees went, even with exercising 5 days a week, my pressure stayed in the 145 over 85 range even with daily meds. I started the Keto diet with intermitten fasting 2 months ago. I've lost 20 pounds and my average bp is now 118 over 65 with a heart rate of 52. I dumped the meds 6 weeks ago when I saw my bp dropping. Oh and btw, I love salt and eat several pinches a day of Himilayan and salt everything but bacon.
Love the shirt Dr Ken! Looking groovy.
Hi Doc! Thanks so much for posting. The Info about the different BP recommendations of the different medical association's is a real EYE OPENER!
I have had success lowering my bp on low carb, no sugar, 18:6 fasting, and also taking L-Citrulline and Arginine.
If they ever get into cloning human beings, they need to clone Dr. Berry so all of us can have him as our doctor! LOL!
I agree wholeheartedly!👍🏽
I want one!! Lol!!
They probably already doing it they do other
Agreed!
Thank you, Dr. Berry!
love seeing your medical books on your self behind you. I love all things medical. Thank you for your advise.
Very good! hallelujah!!! I used to be low salt, but after starting on keto 2 years ago I started using common sense and salted to my best taste, with Redmond's salt, and I was on 3 different blood pressure meds and I'm off all of them, of course I lost around 100 lbs as well, gained back a little bit, but I'm working on kicking that out again,
I wasn't one to salt my food much pre-keto. Now 2.5 years in my palate changed so much that I (subjectively) put a TON of salt on my food and often just eat salt by itself. It helps fix thirst, helps get rid of pseudo hunger pangs, and is necessary for life!
Thank you thank you I love revisiting your channels to remind me to get back on track ❤️
Thanks for sharing this great information
I was freaking out over my 143/87 readings wow.
Goal 140/90❤
My BP went up to an average of 150/90 for while and the Doc suggested I go on medication. I had been on Keto before the lockdowns started in early 2020 but got lazy and started eating bread again. Anyway, when back to Keto and reduced my BP to an average of 144/90. It's not great maybe but I am glad I stayed off the meds.
The department of transportation bp physical card for truck drivers is under 140 over 90 also. Thanks doc. Great job.
Thank you for this information very helpful
So hard to find a doctor that echos this message. The organizations that set the standards for doctors to follow make it difficult. Seemingly due to structured or special interest. I have looked near and far with no luck as far as in my "network" and align with my insurance provider. Oh, and if you get involved with you own health, I’ve found most "doctors" are put off by your own research. They want a brain dead sheep that just swallows pills they write prescriptions for. Very frustrating! My last visit I was told "stop taking vitamin d3" It was a whopping 82 NGC/mL. You'd thought it was 200 by the doctor's reaction.
Your audio quality has vastly improved over you earlier days here on UA-cam. Thank you for all that you do.
Hmm. That seems sarcastic?
My audio has lots of decompression noise in it.
Thank you so much for this video, awesome and very informative. I wish more doctors were like you.
Very informative video, u r the best doc
