Clearly they're either the type who think that divorce is a mortal sin and that she, as a woman, needed to stay with her man regardless of his trespasses against her or how much he sh@t all over their marriage vows, or they've just got some hardcore internalized misogyny that even a full 30-man squadron of psychiatrists and therapists couldn't fix them.
And either way, she's better off without all of them.

There are so many people that cannot get their heads around removing children from a parent may actually be beneficial to their upbringing.

Yep without a custody agreement and established visitation, she was within her rights to do whatever she wanted. I usually dont agree with it but that man had deranged hero syndrome and that kids life would have sucked with that woman as a stepmother and being the second fiddle child.

@@littlegreycati disagree with the idea that he would have been a bad father. My father was quite similar to the one in the story but I have no bad memories with him and he is one of the most important people in my life. Now I’m not saying the mother didn’t have the right to do it but I do think that the father was never given the chance to show his true colors. People change for strange reasons. Personally I think both parties are equally ass hats. If the father ever get joint custody with the mother( note joint not sole) I would not be surprised. Now if the mother successfully proves that the father is unfit I would side with the mother as she was able to prove her side and the father couldn’t.

Karen whines about a lawnmower being too loud and would probably also whine about grass being too long. Just don't move into an HOA in the first place. Apparently, the ambulance was still driveable enough with smashed windows? Karen desperately needed some psych treatment along with the prison time. Great stories, Ripe.

My now late husband also had an affair with someone who has mental health issues and he wanted to fight me for custody until I told him I would bring in her medical records because our child is special needs so the courts would look at them. I guess he talked to a lawyer and found out I could do that so dropped that plan. I also would not allow my child to spend over nights until he was older. I could not trust that when things didn't go her way that she would give my child something. So please protect your daughter at all costs

After numerous calls the police told the neighbor "If you go on her property again she has the right to defend herself and you WILL be arrested for trespass." She told the cop "You can't do that!" The cop told her "Just watch and see" That night my grandmother got up to use the bathroom and heard someone in the bushes under her open window. She opened her purse, took out a can, walked to the window and gassed her bushes with mace. A gasp, coughing, then full on screaming bloody murder. She was still screaming when the cops pulled her out and arrested her. I'd like to say she learned her lesson but she had to get sprayed on 2 other occasions and go to jail.

Fun fact for those who want to bully a emergancy vehicle. Almost all traffic laws are rescinded and are not in effect as long as light are on and or they are acting within the scope of the emergancy that is present for. This means that police or EMS could park in front of a hydrent and as long as lights are on or they are responding to the call that the legal concerns are waved for them.
DL;DR Dont mess with emergancy vehicles, they are often exempt from traffic laws when responding.
Also a fun fact, Do this in the wrong state you may suddenly need your own EMTs when you get shot by a paniking person who is more conserned about those they love more than someone preventing treatment of said person.

I recently found out that in the country where i live, although emergency vehicles are permitted to go through a red light, they DO NOT have priority, and also, emergency vehicles are not permitted to overtake where there is a solid line in the middle of the road (same as normal road users)
most roads where i live are 2 lane roads (1 lane each way), although some roads in towns and cities are 4 lane (2 lanes each way), and there are even some roads with 3 lanes (either 2 lanes in one direction and 1 lane for the other direction, or 1 lane goes one way, 1 lane goes the other way, and the middle lane switches direction depending on the time of day)

Ambulance Story: If I were in OP's place, the moment Karen approached the Ambulance/EMT's with the baseball bat, I'd have pulled my Paintball Pistol out of it's storage spot, pointed it at Karen and told her to drop the bat and back away...if she refused to drop the bat and/or took a single step closer, I'd open fire while telling the EMT's to call for both Police and a second Ambulance for Karen...
The reason Karen would need EMT's of her own if I started shooting is because I had a friend of mine replace my pistols Pressure Regulator with one that's set MUCH higher...the average Paintball Pistol has a muzzle velocity of about 300 feet per second...my pistol however has a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second...I may not get as many shots per gas cartridge as a regular pistol does, but the ones I do get hit one HELL of a lot harder...and I load with steel ball bearings (they HURT far more and clean up is insanely easy, I just roll the area with a magnetic broom and voila - no more steel marbles on the ground), not paintballs...I also tend to aim roughly 3 inches below the belt buckle too...
Paintball Pistols don't need a Firearms Carry and Possession Permit either which is good because those are a cast iron BITCH to get in Canada...

Story 1: I would have taken the HOA to court for not dealing with her quite frankly. There were enough red flags and warning signs, and enough complaints that they should have dealt with, but that they refuse to that I think that taking them to court would have been reasonable.
Story 2: The father ripped himself out of the life of his daughter. NTA.
You don't get to cheat on your partner, and declare in front of them over the phone that the Mistresses' child will always take priority, and still think that you have a chance to be in the other child's life in any significant way.
Story 3: You get a land surveyor out there and make sure that the lines of the property are clearly marked. You also check with the city to get copies of the property to show where the lines are on paper. You can also make a police report so there is a paper trail that shows that the neighbour was trying to do something and you wanted to make sure that it was on record before anything happens. If something should happen, you can have a police report number to give the police when you inevitably call them over the neighbours BS.

When I had a very dangerous heat attack my chances of surviving a cardiac arrest was only 10%. That assumes you are in the hospital with a doctor availible to begin treatment at once. If you go into cardiac arrest outside a hospital, your chances of surviving are nearly 0. The ambulance got me to the hospital just 3 minutes before I went into cardiac arrest, so if the ambulance had been delayed even slightly I would be dead.
My feeling is, if you delay an ambulance in an emergency, it should be a serious crime, a felony at the least. If the person dies, that person should be charged with murder.

Most HOAs have unconstitutional things in their declaration that can be used to dissolve them. I have lived under two HOAs and got them both dissolved. The first HOA as part of its declaration said that only people of the caucasian race could live there. There were other things, it was a very old HOA. Easy to go to court and get it dissolved. The fact that it was run by a bunch of racists who actually tried to enforce the racial provision helped. The second one had a whole bunch of provisions in the declaration that had been declared unconstitutional. Of 14 provisions, 10 had been declared unconstitutional. Went to court, another easy win. Am looking at a new house, in an HOA. Has racial restrictions, color restrictions on doors and windows (these are unconstitutional) and many other things that have been declared unconstitutional. If I buy it, the HOA is gonna be toast.

    Dear mom:
Not the A-hole. So not the A-hole. Let me count the ways you aren't the A-hole.
    1. Relationships are built on trust and loyalty. Trust and loyalty are not obligatory, nor freely given, they are built up over time, and mutually maintained. You have no reason to trust and be loyal to him when he so thoroughly breaks your trust and flaunts his disloyalty.
    2. Most times I would say it's better for children to know their bioparents if possible, but he's made it clear his baby and mistress are more important to him than your baby. Be honest about who he is and why he isn't in your life if you choose, but that baby is better off with grandparents/step father/a mother, single or otherwise who loves them and puts them first than a sperm donor who will always think about them only when they get around to it.
    3. I get why you mention the Hague thing. Some people would think it makes you look guilty, running away somewhere that won't force you to send your baby back to him. But it's your home, as much as we need caring folk like you in the States, if there's nothing keeping you there, you shouldn't feel you need to just because the baby daddy maybe wants to say hi on their day off from the family they think is more important. Your home signing a treaty or not isn't something you personally have control over, don't feel bad that they haven't.
    4. Another fine point with the whole Hague thing... This stops American courts from forcing shared custody and thus making it so you must stay in the States somewhere where custody can be shared. In some cases, that's a good thing. I mean, there's definitely cases where legality doesn't match with morality, and in such cases, a place not beholden to laws enforced immorally is actually not bad.

Story 2; NTA, but the OP needs to call the local court in the US and make an official statement about why. Get it on his record so he can't get help as easily. He could still do extra-legal things like hire someone to steal his child back, but anyone doing even basic research about the case should see that. Or get advice by local detectives that it is not a good job. Or counter any lies he tells such a person. Not to mention, if said child does get sent back, the police could watch for it, and be more willing to help OP.

Last story, the neighbor was slowly appropriating the op’s parents property: first it was the pool that was partly on the parents property, then he was expanding his “empire” by trying to put up a fence further in. If he’d gotten away with it by no one complaining, then after a certain number of years (forgotten how many & it varies by state) then he can claim that land as his.

    Horrible father story:
There’s an older saying that goes something like this; “Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad”
My interpretation of the saying is this; just because some dirtbag can do the deed that’s involved in creating a child doesn’t mean that he is entitled to a relationship with said child; especially when he’s already proven that he can’t be trusted to properly care for the child.
I understand that parents naturally have the right to a relationship with their child(ren), but once they’ve made it clear that they’re not willing to BE a parent to the child(ren) and/or have said or done things that put them in actual danger, they forfeit their rights and the parent who is protecting their child(ren) should not be punished for BEING the parent who’s acting on their protective instinct, imho.
Obviously there are a lot of things that need to happen legally in many jurisdictions, however the parent who can show that the other parent is not acting in the best interest of the child’s safety and wellbeing should not be punished for removing the child from the other parent’s reach or control.
And yeah, the elephant in the room here is that many parents who think they’re protecting their children are actually harming them, which is why I mentioned the legal process necessary in some jurisdictions, but even that can fail to protect the child(ren).
Depending upon the social and political environment of the jurisdiction, that interpretation can be wildly different as well.
Imho, children should be allowed to be the innocent children that they are and not be pushed into socially or politically acceptable belief systems; especially when these cause irreversible changes to the child’s natural physical body.
There’s a reason why you have to be an adult to do things like enter into legally binding agreements and imbibe certain substances in many jurisdictions, so why would any sane adult let their child(ren) make life-altering decisions that they themselves wouldn’t have been allowed to do; especially knowing as an adult of the harm they would have experienced had their childish beliefs been encouraged or acted upon by the adults who were there to protect them?
    Ok, sorry, rant over 😂

Story two, I once met a man who had his wife move to India with his small child (about 4-5) and had much the same issue with the hague convention thing. It wasnt OP though because this man was also Indian, per his own statement, not my own assumptions. She left and moved in with her family because apparently they never approved of him. That was a handful of years ago, that kids gotta be darn near 10.... I wonder what happened to all of them...

She made it perfectly clear she didn't have any respect or consideration, nor empathy, so I fully expect her to be incapable of empathy and not care any harm she would do.

With the racist Karen vandalizing the ambulance, you forgot to tell the police of the theft of the garden tools and other things. When she was arrested and jailed, the police should have checked her house for stolen booty from the neighbors. That would have kept her in jail for more time. A class action law suit should have been filed against her and the HOA by all the HOA members that had suffered her tyranny and the lackadaisical treatment by the HOA.
