Hey Codgers! FreeWill here - we met in Oregon last year on the PCT. I’m the guy who was formerly with the Appalachian Mountain Club. Good to hear you’ll be out to finish up the trail this summer with Hazel and Company!!! I’m also going to be out doing the Sierra’s from Donner Pass south to Walker Pass and will be hitting at a similar timing as you. I’m wondering what your likely start date is to see how well we might sync up? I haven’t booked my flight yet so have some flexibility and it would be fun to meet up with you all on trail. Happy Trails 2024!
What a grim adventure but great training! Mr Freeze did great filming! Does he have a UA-cam channel? Mrs Rumble and Woodstock are tough cookies. Happy Trails!
So many things about this video that I liked! Loved seeing Mrs. Rumbles out there hiking, the addition of two, new Codgerette's, the filming contributions of Mr. Freeze, watching the team's learning curve of "Happy Trails", the sycronyzation of "Happy Trails" by the group, getting "Happy Trails" down right by hikes end! I also loved the roll sleeves featured by Mrs. Rumbles, I didn't know there was such a thing, but I'm now very interested. Thanks for the video!
Great to see you out with the wife’s and Mr. Freeze. I am from Enon ohio just up the road from Dayton. Enjoy the smokies. My hiker blessing. May your pack feel light your miles be many and your pains be few God bless and have a safe trip. I have a question for Mr. freeze do you ever do Shawnee State force the 40 mile loop Trail?
I’ve done the loop - including the Wilderness Side Trail, a couple times. Great training for the AT. Too bad they don’t believe in switchbacks. Very steep!
Lightening and downpours. I don't blame you for leaving the Smokies. I've seen other hiker comments about the trail there being flooded after rain and that the park system could dig trenches in such a way as to redirect the rain off the trail. It was good to see you , Mr. Freeze and the ladies. We all missed No Filter. Happy Trails!
Good job Guys and Girls! If your rain gear held out I'd be interested to hear what is working for you. Getting ready for the Tahoe Rim Trail Mid June. Not anticipating any rain but want to be prepared.
The best rain jacket I’ve used so far is the Outdoor Vitals Tushar. Only downside is there’s just one pocket - on the left breast. Lightweight and has pit zips. Not cheap, but less $$ than Arc’teryx.
Oh my gosh when you said the Date ,I knew how Bad it was going to be RAIN,WIND ,TORNADO WARNING for most of the state on May 8 except for us we only had some rain in the uppermost part of East Tennessee it skipped the NC mountains and went to Charlotte,NC where they got 7 inches of rain,and the next day 5 inches I am so sorry,who ever the tour guide is for this group….fire them 🤣. But I know lots of memories where made Happy Trails 🌿🍃

Looks like misery. I think the rain was my least favorite condition when hiking. Got a lot of practice with rain on the PCT 50 years ago!
