Happy Sunday guys. I wonder how much more you add in steps to get the perfect shots. Most backpackers try to lose so much weight - but UA-cam life is different. Nick you could have moved the log out of the trail for everyone. I would poop if I saw a 🐻 since we’ll be in Gatlinburg in a couple of weeks. Nick is a roll being the comedic person of the duo. You need a down tree counter. And that hike looked tough. I had to wait to watch it on TV, the views there are so pretty.
A lot more walking back and forth and off trail lol yeah a lot of backpackers choose a lightweight option like GoPro. I'm probably carrying 10 extra pounds just in Camera gear. Everyone else can walk around like I did 🤣 If you hang out and Gatlinburg long enough you'll see a bear they're always there they run right down left center of the street 🤣 The views up there were incredible! Would have been better if it wasn't for the eclipse lol I didn't mention it in the video because I couldn't really pick it up on camera because it was so cloudy but the eclipse was going on while we were up there.
If you're wanting an awesome backpacking trip or just a really good day hike yeah definitely! It's beautiful 😁 Glad someone caught the reference 🤣 appreciate you stopping by and checking out the video!
Oh my goodness, four or five bears?! 🐻 Eating out of people’s hands is crazy and so dangerous for everyone who visits the area. Good grief… 😢 Stay safe out there, y’all! Loving this hike!! Mark and I are hoping to try backpacking for the first time later this year. Gathering our gear slowly but surely. 😅
If people really realized how powerful those bears are they wouldn't want to get anywhere near it lol this hike was awesome had a great time! I didn't mention it in the video but when we got to the bald we were up there doing the eclipse it was just really cloudy. After watching the video back I didn't want it to seem like clickbait so I cut all that stuff out. That's awesome! Find you a good overnight trail to start with to test your gear. Took us a while to collect everything as well it can get really expensive!
Great video, I enjoyed it! I am *planning* to hopefully do this hike in August, but I guess you two probably know more than most about how plans go in the Smokies sometimes. I hope I can make it. 😬🤞
Awesome glad you enjoyed the video! We definitely had a good time on that trip 😁 Well hopefully you can get there in August and complete your plans! Yeah sometimes the weather in there can change so bad you don't really want to go backpacking lol
We just watched this one, awesome hike and camp and the bald was beautiful. As far as other good campsites at the Smokies, my suggestions are 18 (easier hike, huge campsites by the water), 33 (tough but beautiful), 60 (my favorite since it's not too long of a hike in and very lush by the water) and 58 and 59 are good.
I'll have to check some of those out that you mentioned! I know I seen the videos you put out when you went there. Thanks for the suggestions 😃 This was a really fun hike it was pretty tough though with our large packs lol can't wait to do some more backpacking in the smokies!
It is a lot of work I'm glad we got into doing it now we'll have something to look back on when we're older 🙂 appreciate you watching and commenting! Means a lot ♥️
You're absolutely right! Most people will never get to experience the real mountains. They say the mountains are calling but really mean Gatlinburg and pigeon forge
Hey guys! Great video. We just returned from NC doing some hiking of roughly 30 miles worth of trails. Did Grassy Ridge hike from Carvers Gap through Round Bald, Jane Bald, and Grassy Bald. Excellent hike of about 6 miles. Also some hiking on Grandfather Mountain. Might be worth checking out. Thinking about doing some section hiking of the Appalachian Trail beging at the trail head in Georgia, last week of September. Can I ask how much your backpack s weighed? Any suggestions for a light weight tent, sleeping bags, etc? Best packaged food (that does not have cilantro 😂) Shoes? Hiking sticks or no? I know, lots of questions but beginning some research on this. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Sounds like a really fun Trip you had! We've done grandfather mountain and a lot of hikes in that area! One of our favorite places to hike. 😅😅 My favorite is peak refuel pretty much anything from them if it sounds good it's probably going to be delicious! Lasagna & chicken alfredo! Me and Rachel both have started using Altras I use the men's long peak all weather. Love them! If you need hiking sticks I would definitely suggest them sometimes I don't use them it just depends on how I'm feeling because I'm filming sometimes they just get in the way for me. When I do use them though I use the ones that Getout in gear sent me really like them. I use a big Agnes copper spur tent and a quilt from enlightened equipment. You can find a lot of this stuff on our Amazon storefront if you click the link in the description or in the pin comment you'll find it..... A lot of our backpacking and camera gear is listed there. There's so many options out there. We like to usually get something Budget friendly at first and if we like it then upgrade to something we know a last longer. And then turn that budget friendly option into just kind of like a throwaway option if we're camping somewhere shady or maybe we have to leave our tent alone for a long period of time. Or just let a friend or family member use it if they don't got any and want to come. Appreciate you watching! If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload videos like this weekly 😁
The warning goes hand in hand with the title. "Warning" you'll want to backpack in the Great Smoky mountains after watching this video! Basically lol Love the Smoky mountains! We made this video and we're up on the bald during the eclipse but it was so cloudy you couldn't really tell so I'm cut all that part of the video out. Appreciate you watching!
Yeah I did that last minute next time I'll schedule it earlier like a weekend advance lol thanks for checking out the video! Definitely don't feed the bears 🐻
Yeah that's exactly what it looked like lol on the way down the mountain I could definitely tell there was an eclipse going on though. I took the polar lens off my camera and looked through it at the sun and I could tell something look weird lol No I don't think I've ever heard of that mountain.
It was a really good trip! Yeah I'm glad we didn't run into any either 😅 most people who are going to be hiking or backpacking already know that but never hurts to say it. Lots of new hikers out there everyday!

Such a beautiful mountain range ♥️🌲 thank you really appreciate your support 🙂

@@NickandRachel2 is great too and right by the water. Not far. 1 is nice but not as interesting of an area. Great solitude though
Definitely love the campsites that are surrounded by water! Great sleep 😴
I enjoyed joining you guys for the live watch! Great video!
Thanks for joining us!
I enjoyed this it's so beautiful in the Smokies ❤️
Thank you glad you enjoyed the video 🙂 They definitely have a special place in our heart ♥️
Excellent video. That’s a lot of work to put these videos together but you guys do an outstanding job. Thank you for sharing this backpacking episode.

You have to get off the paved road to appreciate the smokies.

Nick: I don’t kill spiders.
Rachel: I do.
😂😂😂 me too, girl.
Yeah I have to save them from her in the house 😅
Rachel and Nick: What is the "warning" in the opening frame of this video? ....Thank you. The Smoky Mountains are God's Country. Great videos!
The warning goes hand in hand with the title. "Warning" you'll want to backpack in the Great Smoky mountains after watching this video! Basically lol

You're welcome appreciate you!
ill try catching more of a premiere next time. def dont feed the bears.
Yeah I did that last minute next time I'll schedule it earlier like a weekend advance lol thanks for checking out the video! Definitely don't feed the bears 🐻
@@NickandRachel still funny realizing when Yall was out there.
I wanted to mention it in the video but the payoff would have been super disappointing so I didn't even say anything I cut every bit of that out 😅
@@NickandRachel looked just like a thunderstorm tryna roll in to me. Yall ever been up to Whiteside mountain in highlands?
Yeah that's exactly what it looked like lol on the way down the mountain I could definitely tell there was an eclipse going on though. I took the polar lens off my camera and looked through it at the sun and I could tell something look weird lol
No I don't think I've ever heard of that mountain.
Nice place to backpack. Glad you didn’t camp by any serial killers. Ha ha. Also pretty horrible when people feed the bears. It makes me upset.
