Hiking with the Codgers on the Pacific Crest Trail 2024 Day 14
Well… I just erased my post accidentally.. so.. good to see you
On the JMT I night hiked in the eve due to necessity a couple of times. That was ok. Many times I planned to get up and be out pre-dawn, but I guess I never had it in me. I would be up and then procrastinate. Easy to do in a cozy bed. OK, if you can, I can, my next challenge. Brrr.
I love the you tuber reference. I seriously thought that after hiking the JMT NOBO that the last major pass, Donahue, was just a “little bump.” Liars.
Thank you Mrs. Rumbles for editing the videos and posting them. Some of us cannot hike any longer. Your videos provide scenic views of places we’ll never see.
Merci
Another t-shirt idea: "Go low, like Joe (see 6m45s)" Q: You guys film everything, so why no malt shop footage?
7:40 Rumbles my good sounds like a steam train.....the trail might be steeper than it looks
It was a pleasure meeting both of you on the trail - I'm the lady from Texas and my husband is the gentleman from Boston - ya'll are as nice and genuine in person as you appear to be on the videos (that's a good thing). Our long section hike was actually hiking the entire JMT - we finished September 2!!! We were happy to see that ya'll were able to meet up with Lone Pine Kurt and to meet his wonderful wife Sharon - she is a gem and a very talented artist! BTW No Filter - our next 'long section hike' - AT!. Ya'll take care and again, it was a pleasure meeting both of you. After meeting ya'll on the trail, we wanted to kick ourselves because we forgot to say ......Happy Trails and isn't it just GORGEOUS! before we hiked on. Cheers
I don’t know how you guys can do those miles. On the JMT after training, etc., I could do only do 8-15 depending. It was very frustrating. I’m 60.
Silver pass going NOBO was a bit of an sob. So interesting to watch you sobo, about the time I was NOBO. Enjoying this, thanks for sharing.
Doing the JMT NOBO about the same time you were on trail, I was headed to REDs on a Monday and learned on trail that Mondays were limited hours. Was told the grill closed at 2p, so I literally RAN/jogged the last 2 miles and made it in by 1:48. Yay…though then learned that the grill reopened at 4pm…so I ate 2x.
Someone on you tube recommended dancer pants, they weight nothing and cost about $12. I bought some for my NOBO JMT trip which I was on Trail around the same time you guys were. Unfortunately, I was south of bishop pass by a couple of days when you stepped off. All I carried for my bottom layer were shorts, some lightweight tights from Walmart to sleep in and those dancer pants. Worked out well, mind you, only had two days of precip the entire time.
How did you guys meet? Old college or high school buddies, etc?
You all have been in my thoughts this week. My old brain doesnt quite remember the area you guys live, hopefully you all are safe and well
Thanks for taking us along. From one codger to another...happy trails.
Hope you guys and your families have weathered Helene and its aftermath okay! Wishing you well.
Thank you, all is well in our little corner. Pray for those that were not so fortunate.
@@hikingwiththecodgers4086 Great to hear! Thanks for replying. Many are in my prayers for sure. I live in Arizona but grew up 13 miles north of Erwin, Tennessee, which of course is a favorite re-supply stop for those through-hiking the AT. Lots of mind-boggling devastation there and Unicoi as well as elsewhere.
Friday 09/27/2024 Sending prayers to all of Georgia, and specifically the codgers, family, and friends, with Helene devastation of your state and many others. Vicki Moore Bend Oregon
Thank you again for taking us along and happy trails to you all.
Congratulations on finishing and thank you for entertaining us for 450 miles.
It’s been a pleasure. You all rock. Can’t wait for you next venture. Thanks for sharing.
❤
Who is Denim Dan hiding from? 😂😂🎉🎉🎉 Congrats. As Huell would say, YOUR AMAZING
Good bye to You all. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Good bye, Hazel. Missed seeing you this time.
Happy Trails!!
Those switchbacks scared the heck outta me. It has been beyond wonderful following you on your journey. One part of it that will always stand out for me is how you kept on trekking through all the deep snow in the San Bernardinos and the San Gabriels, in Southern California. Those snow banks on Highway 2 were scary. I spoke recently with someone who worked with FEMA in Big Bear. The snow was so deep at one point that people couldn’t get out. They were air dropping food. Anyway, thank you so much and thanks to your family for all the terrific videos and your great codger sense of humor.
No Filter can do old prospector parts if they ever bring back westerns.
Safe travels back to Woodstock! I went to college at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Miss going to the Braves games, but don't miss the Atlanta traffic! Do you two have any interest in hiking the CDT?
Great meeting you guys at Donahue Pass and congratulations on completing the PCT. Oh yeah, HAPPY TRAILS!
Thank you for bringing us along with you! Hope you all got home safe and sound. Look forward to many more adventures. Happy trails 🎉
“I'm So Glad We Had This Time Together”. Carol Burnett’s song
Great Mile Day. Hike On.
Nice wrap up and fun to watch. Hope you all had a good flight home. Hazel had a long one! Well, you know we're already waiting to see what trail you'll do next. Don't be strangers. We all love hearing from you guys.
Thank you for taking us along, humor, town visits, and chats. Where next?
What,? No Schat’s Bakery visit? Have a great fall/winter, all of you! And many thanks for so many lovely videos and pics of the beloved Sierra!
Thank you for sharing! Happy Trails!
Thanks for the recap of your thoughts about the hike and finishing it.
Congrats on your hike. Have a great off-season .
Love the Hostel California! Had a great stay on my thru hike last year. And Bishop was probably my favorite trail town. Glad you guys were able to complete the PCT.
❤Well Happy new trials ❤❤❤ wherever life take you all going forward❤OHH WILL MISS SEEING YOU ALL AND HAZEL who knows we may see you all in Taiwan doing a trail, with Hazel🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks guys...and gal...really enjoyed your journey last year and this year. BTW,..perhaps Hazel has told you, there's alot of beautiful hiking in Taiwan! Perhaps a visit in the future....Codgers in Asia!
Very much enjoyed the whole journey. Thank you and hope to see you again soon!
I crossed the exposed section ya'll stopped at last year (San Jan approach) and it dawned on me: ya'll haven't made that section up. So, did ya'll only make up the burn sections skipped or large sections skipped or . . .
Hey Mr Freeze greetings from Akron Ohio!
Did Mr. Freeze do the AT?
Yes, that is where he met the codgers. Check out the AT videos. They met somewhere in the Whites.
@@hikingwiththecodgers4086 yes I will. I started but never finished
Congratulations on finishing your adventure on the PCT🎉 🎉🎉
I don't know exactly why, but the eastern side of the Sierra Crest in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness is one of my favorite areas in all of the Sierra. Has been since I was a child. It's a lot more accessible than most of the High Sierra to the south, but still doesn't feel overrun. Thank you for your videos!
So happy for the last day on the PCT trail (bus trip and airplane trip home). Congratulations to the four Codgers! Codger wives- you need to send the Codgers out next May to do the CDT…that is for your mental health. Codgers-talk to Energizer, Mash and Knee Deep about their CDT adventure this year. They will give you an honest take on the CDT. As always, may God bless you and keep you in good health. 👍
It has been great watching you guys, love the videos and thanks for sharing with us!!
Thanks to all …….Happy Trails 🍁🍂
Glad to be heading home, but sad to say goodby to great hiking partners and friends. Happy Trails.
