Perfect Daily Distance on Camino de Santiago

- This is a common question and a really personal issue as daily distance is a mixture of your physical conditions and few other important factors. And this video is about finding the golden middle between all of them, meanwhile I walk the 11 stage of Camino Frances.

"Your Camino is YOUR Camino!" - so very true.
Some days you will wake up and want to walk 30km, some days only 15. So it's best not to have too much of a plan. Be super-flexible and then you won't stress and push yourself beyond your limits. Another great video. Thanks :)
Thanks Robb! Be flexible, this is a good point. Buen Camino amigo
It is a contradiction first to say "Your Camino is YOUR Camino", then to say what's the best way to do walk it...
My Camino is MY Camino! If it's best for me to have a plan, then it's MY Camino to walk by a plan... Then maybe, along the way, on MY Camino, I'll learn that it might be good to be able to deviate from my plan. But it's my Camino... Tell me how you walk your Camino and what you like about it. Then I or others can be inspired and perhaps try some of your experiences and learn from walking our Camino.
There is no right or wrong way to walk the Camnio. Each person has their own Camino to walk... 8:56
Buen Camino
Your my favorite Camino Story/advice Teller.. hope your walking it next fall❤️🙏
Yeah! Thanks a lotttt, we will be on the Camino from May to October, let’s grab a coffee/beer/tortilla/pulpo!
I agree. If I could, I would take over 45 plus days to do this journey. If I had more cash, time, and good health....that would be my desire.
@@Emy53 very true. I would walk 12 to 16 km per day and enjoy more the landscapes, people and towns. A Girl from Mex/Spain ;)
Thank you for your always honest perspective. What a reminder of doing what feels right and not doing what is prescribed!
Thank you Patrick! I'm glad that my message is clear :) hugs
Or what other people tell you how you should walk your Camino...
Thank you, Ricky, for your sage advice about living in the present moment. We are so grateful to have good health, friendship and adventure in our Camino adventure. We LOVE all your videos and share them to all. Buen Camino - ve en paz
❤️❤️❤️ what a beautiful vibe you have! Thanks for all the kind words
Les muerto estos videos a mis alumnos mientras que aprendan del Camino. Ahora sé por donde buscar cuando les quiero compartir algo informativo de alguien más que yo..Gracias por hacerlos. Son útiles, interesantes y actuales.
Gracias a Ti Gwen ! Which is your next Camino?
haha, it's the first time in an English Camino video that I hear the Spanish town's names pronounced well 😁 Enhorabuena Ricky, muy currao 👍
Muchas gracias caballero! Después de 15 años en España, no sería ni justo ni apropiado hablar como uno de fuera… pero todavía se puede mejorar! Un abrazo
And Ricky is not Spanish, nor is Erika. She's Italian. I forget what Ricky is...
This couple is my favorite. I have been more inspired by them than any other content creators on this camino. I think this is my 2nd or 3rd visit to this video.
You might hate me, but as a much fatter guy than you, I find the downhills more tiring and painful on the knees. I can walk uphill all day, and loved that walk into San Juan. I was the only one with a headtorch when we left San Juan the next morning, so we told ghost stories as we walked in the dark through the woods, and were joined by a Korean lady who just slotted into the line behind me with the light! I can also recommend Airexe as a great "off schedule" stop between Sarria and Santiago.
I totally agree, I prefare the uphills... but that day has rained a lot, and coffee wasn't strong enough... and other excuses:) I might pass by the place you recomend. Now I'm in Boadilla del Camino instead of stoping in Fromista, and I'm loving it! Buen Camino
@@caminotellers I have hiked over 40 years and while walking uphill will defiantly tire you out more it is the downhill that can injure you and also make you sore the next day.
Hey Ricky, again... great video. It's not the content, even though all beautiful, but it is your honest look at the camino, your connectedness with yourself and others. I wish you a beautiful journey. Buen Camino, Pilgrim. Sven.
Thank you Sven! Your kind and honest words .. and actions , are well appreciated 💚 sending your a big hug from the Camino
I wish I’d seen this vid before leaving for my first Camino in April. I spent too much of it exhausted by pushing myself beyond the point where I needed to stop. I feel like I missed out on so many opportunities to see, interact with other pilgrims and experience. I’m already planning on returning with a different attitude and expectation, plus trying a different Camino route!
Buen camino! I've learned a lot from your videos. Can't wait for my first camino end of May. 🙂
Thanks a lot Jacqui! Only one month left until you start, you nearly there :) hugs
Bin heute mit Dir gelaufen bist ein Interessenter Type, mach weiter so 💪☺️
Superrr!
Your content and production is really good. You should have 10, 20,000 subs.
Thanks David! The algorithm is gatekeeper, that’s why is so important to like and comment on every video so it can reach extensive audience 💚🙏
I never stick to the "usual" stages, as they are normally way too short for me. I try to keep it flexible also, as you never know how the weather will be, what people you meet and how you feel that day. So I agree :-)
We are on the same Way Alexander! Buen Camino
Que buen video como siempre.
Gracias porque me permite ir muy bien preparado.
Wishing good vibes to all. Appreciate the video as I am less than 30 days from starting the CF from SJPDP.
Good Vibes to you too! I hope you will have a great Camino, and probably we will see on the Camino :) hugs
Loved watching your walk today... as I just passed through there in March as I walked to Burgos. That stretch between Villafranca to San Juan is depressing at points, particularly when the path opens wide and becomes a muddy, featureless mess enclosed by the trees on either side. The walk up the hill was nicer even though more difficult. The openess at 8:08 didn't seem to be something that would be too nice in the heavy heat of the summer sun.
Definitely, walk your own Camino as much as you can. Agés was a welcome sight for me that day. Great food and a warm bed!
Buen Camino!
Colm! Couldn't expres it better 💚 althought it was rainy and muddy, I really enjoyed that stage :) buen Camino
@@caminotellers I did too! Even that final push on from San Juan wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! A few extra kms with wet weather yet was still better than the previous 12kms!
@@ColmMcCann same here! Hope to see you on the Camino :)
That stretch was a bear. I walked it in heat. Thank God for the hippy rest stop with a snack and music provided to cheer us!
@@rdgreeley I'd prefer the Mesetta any day than being boxed in like that path... at least on the Mesetta there are 360 views!
Buen Camino!
This is so interesting.
Wonderful channell ❤ i love you guys !
Thank you so much!
Lovely, thank you!
Are you preparing for Camino??
You are always fun to listen to. Thanks for the chat and advice!
Thanks Mark! 🙏😉
You’re great. Fun to watch. Informative and just quirky enough to keep me smiling. I never subscribe to anyone’s channel but it will be nice to have your help preparing for my excursion in the Fall. I’m really going to take your advice and take a chill pill and not over plan.
Thanks soooo much! I ll try to continue showing informative content with a bit of my humor.. and if you have any questions, don't doubt to ask ;) hugs
I walk so long till i fall in my sleepingbag.......that is my way to go.....sometimes 45 km.....sometimes 25 km.......depend on the mud:) thank you for the nice Video....buen camino
Once we did 7km ;)
@@caminotellers that i never had.....7km i have before the first food.....but i love walking:) greetings and buen camino
Thanks Ricky, appreciate your videos and tips, my wife and I are thinking about doing the camino Frances, let's see, in the mean time, buen camino Ricky.
Do it! And do it all, from SJPDP till Santiago, totally worth money, time and effort! Hugs
Gracias Amigo 🙌🏽 walking in a couple weeks. Your videos have been a fantastic guide. Bon Camino!
Thanks a lot Hugo! I hope you 'll have an amazing Camino :) if you' re doing French Way, we will meet surly
I am walking this route in beginning of May, I just hope it will not rain as much... but I do not mind the rain all that much ;D
No, the spring is the rainy season and when you will be in galicia, most likely it will rain everyday, all year round :) hava an amazing Camino
Fantastic walk have great Camino
Thanks Simon! Buen Camino
Ya me estás animando a hacerlo 😊 y eres muy simpático en tus narraciones 😂
Siii, ven! Ojalá que nos podemos ver caminando por aki :)
Love your humor.
thanks a lot! hugs and merry christmas Erin!
I’m going in march. Excited
excelent! where are you starting?
Es todo.verdadero les admiro y.respeto
Gracias ☺️
Hola Ricky! Im so glad that I found your channel. Its so informative and it make me feel more secure about my decision of doing the camino this August. What you do if your shoes get wet inside? Do you have an extra pair of sneakers? I don’t want to buy goretex because my feet sweat a lot and I don’t want to get blisters.
The other day, walking the Portuguese way, my goretex shoes got wet... and I had to dry them back in albergue. Take the inner sole out, put the old newspapers inside and change it once they absorbe the wet...
Very enjoyable and good information, 🙏
Thanks Peter! 🙏💚
You are so funny! If I ever see you on the Camino I’m gonna give you the biggest Mama hug ever!🤣🤣
Mamma hugs are what the bears 🐻 like the most! ( not honesy like Winnie used to say ) hahahahahah thanks a lot for your good vibe 💚💚
Rysiu Pysiu!!!! Loving the vid, the flow, edits- great future awaits you. Buen Camino!
Mr.Arturo, a kind words from your mouth is a biggest gift I can ask for! Big hugs for you and all your Family
Nice, doing the Camino is a big dream of mine, planning on doing it on 2024, it seems so far away. If the universe stars and planets all aligned then summer of 2023 until then I’ll keep dreaming in walking my Camino
Where there is a will there is a way… ;) hope to see you on the Camino- soon ;)
Ya es 2024!!! Que pronto llegó.
hola ricky!..great channel and very informative for a first time camino enthusiast as myself..noticed you said that in between stages there are many villages and towns with places to grab something to eat or have a coffee in the camino Frances..does the same apply for the camino del norte?..or at least for most stages?..cause i was reading some stages are quite mountainous and people warn to get something in the town before heading off..asking as i am a diabetic and dont want to be stuck in a tight spot..cheers ricky..
Panos, how are you? The Camino del Norte is much lest popular hence populated and the shops and bars are not as frequent as the French one. First 6 days of Bask country hike is rather in the forest and mountain and you will need your own provisions! After the Bilbao, it becomes more populated, but I would always have a sandwich, dates or some almonds with me…
Very helpful, but I do not see a lot of information regarding bathrooms along the way... what is the norm? What to do if ... we cannot walk any further? Thx for the tips!
That must be a whole video about this smelly subject ;) there are many bars and often you walk by the pure nature/forest… there are many ways, depending on what are you comfortable with. Hugs 🤗
Buen camino 👣👣👣
Gracias buen Camino 😊
Thanks
Thank YOU! 🙏

How can I find a map you showed in the beginning
It is one of the photos you can find on the web…
What kind of poncho do you wear?
It's just a simple, one piece poncho, from decath... a European bran of sport supermarkets. You can get more fancy gear but you will use it only few times during the Camino, so... buen Camino Jodi
Takk!
