  • Kobi Mccoul reached out to me through email for voice lessons and we've decided to document the process. This is our fourth voice lesson and the second one we filmed for UA-cam. We are working on developing his higher range and expanding his control over his voice so he can sing higher with the ease and control he wants. Kobi and I both love to talk, which is something we struggle to balance in the lessons, but it makes for a great learning experience for you guys since he asks great questions and you get to learn from his experience. Please check out his UA-cam Channel here: / @iambradarthur

    I've found that sometimes it's important to learn a new song to work on when I'm training something new. That way the song doesn't bring in old bad habits

      I would also really like to see this, it’s prob one of the most difficult songs to sing now as a guy, Jamie Miller is insane

    This is really really useful stuff. Just a heads up, the speed/pitch of the video is making everything sound like a semitone flat (check the keyboard notes) so y'all sound like baritones now lol

      @@StudioWestLessons I think it's slowed, prob a framerate thing. Like at 32:35 you're talking about a G and it sounds like F#

    1:06:54 he always try to reach the note, and you can see the tension in his face . I personally think that the problem he has isn't in vocal closure(the exercises your giving help with that only), he is not supporting well(air flow), and has to do exercises to move the focus from throat to the mask area.

    When i try the fry to voice leaps the fry follows my voice up as i ascend and I cant get the desired sound. Any tips for this?

    plssss it wd be very helpful if u could make a few vids on vocal exercises... sing along kinda.. on UA-cam just play smthn on piano and leave it on us to sing which is not helpful at all

    Greg please help me out.
    when i go above an A4 my head wants to tilt forward (like my chin wants to get closer to the larynx). But the thing with most singers is that they tilt their head upwards for the high notes and that really really makes me doubt my technique. Like i can barely speak if my neck is stretched out like them. Is there something inherently wrong with my technique? . Btw I can mix up to a E5

    • @icarus5676
      @icarus5676 2 роки тому

      @@StudioWestLessons no i think my larynx pretty much stays in one spot (not neutral) and it tilts forward with increase in pitch

    • @icarus5676
      @icarus5676 2 роки тому

      yea I've tried the smiling but the main culprit is my tongue. When my larynx starts to tilt my styloglossus,genioglossus part of the tongue gets tight and that's really what forces me to tilt my head forward. If I don't tilt my head, my larynx loses its tilt and i cant sing the high parts

    @Gregory West My point was when somone enter your channel,you see a lot of clips very long.
    1.No text under those clips explaining whats going on.
    2.I really dont thibk anyone has time to go into video of 3 hours and spend 3 hours.
    Why i think you should be more on point to cut and edit those video into parts.Leaving just most importing stuffs
    Part 1 (this and this) Part 2 (this and this)
    Also on your other videos that are not lives
    Maybe also skiping stuffs unnecessary in edits.
    Have some lead
    Example- 1:28 breathing thrue dia...also this text underline on video edit(in descritption also or as a comment)
    Ext no1,no2 bla bla
    And your warm up video im waiting bro :)
    Best regrets ! I am giving you a friendly advice !!! Thats what im missinh on your channel
