    Compliments to everyone on the panel. I would guess it was pretty hard finding a time of "day" to bring this panel together with different time zones.

    Greg for next time, I'd love some more discussion of posture and how it affects tone.

    Awe. I like that Greg many of the times if not all the time has the audience in mind when directing the conversation. Not saying that the guest don't of course. Just definitely within reason a great approach.

    Is it Possible for a person to be able to sing like in multiple tones for example Heavy Metal, Oprah, Ballad etc??

    • @arnaudm.8155
      @arnaudm.8155 2 роки тому +4

      Yes, probably. But being proficient in one genre takes time and a lot of dedication. That is why artists who can sing anything very well are rare. If your question is: are singing genre related to natural abilities, I'd say someone who has the ability to sing, be it spontaneous or after a lot of work and studies, can sing whatever genre he wants to sing. But this is a hard work.

      It is, but darned difficult. Check Mike Patton, he is an Opera Singer, A rock Singer, A Pop Singer, A Voice Artist for Zombies, and a guy who makes crazy noises come out from his mouth

      Morissette amon can do , ballad , musical theatre, some operatic styles, country, metal I guesse? On her cover of (dream on).Its Not like one person is born for only one specific style , or genre of music lmao 🤣.

      @@MineCraft-nz9pg : yes, I think it is quite possible to be able to sing different genres with proficiency. There is nothing we said or nothing I think that goes against that idea. It is just a matter of passion and work.

    Lol the live chat was funny 🤣 alot of nonsense. I've heard classical singers say" breath from your back to maximize your air capacity, so you have bigger air volume and then proceeds to say " the bigger the drum , the bigger the sound" 🤣 lmao , bit*h you're lungs aren't the drums, your larynx is.

  • @awe-ctaves7304
    @awe-ctaves7304 2 роки тому +1

    Hmm. So if a bigger guy can make more sound. Does that mean little guys are better at making smaller sounds than a bigger guy can? Or it only goes the one direction?

    • @pseudonymlifts2
      @pseudonymlifts2 2 роки тому +1

      Well yeah a physically smaller (tract size) and probably higher pitch (smaller larynx) voice will make 'smaller' sounds more efficiently. And higher pitch vocals 'carry' more i.e. we hear them very distinctly due to the way our ears and brains process sounds. Whenever I record men and women the men tend to be significantly louder in terms of decibels unless unskilled, but women's voices still cut through because they produce more high frequencies that we perceive strongly.

      This was something Philippe said out of experience, but he himself did not made it a scientific claim. I'm personally doubtful about it, but I usually trust Philippe. I think this is something that should be seriously investigated, even though I have never noticed such a "height factor" when recording singers in my studio.

      @@arnaudm.8155 yes of course and thank you. It's all fascinating. Definitely just makes me think. I have no answers only questions and thoughts I can't always get them out to make sense.

      I don't agree with that cuz , I don't know what they mean when they say big sound , is it loudness , or darkness, or brightness, cuz if you mean loudness , i know the loudest bird in the world that's not even the size of your head.Its not the size of the person , its the size of the vocal tract ,thats it.

    As a classically trained singer/teacher of course I disagree with so much of this. It would be interesting for you to do a discussion/debate with actually classical teachers like the Silver Singing Method rather than this conversation that was pretty much just masturbatory.

    • @arnaudm.8155
      @arnaudm.8155 2 роки тому +2

      I think everybody here on the pannel would have been delighted to talk with you. As we are easy to find, it should not be to hard to organize it if you really want that kind of discussion.
      Other thing : do I understand that you disagreed with everything that has been said during that podcast ? Would not have bet we said such a lot of absurdities.

    • @craigbrown3559
      @craigbrown3559 2 роки тому +1

      @@arnaudm.8155 I would be happy for that discussion. No, I don’t disagree with everything said however, I think not having representation from the other side is reductive. Jeremy Silver would be able to hold his own on such a panel.

    • @arnaudm.8155
      @arnaudm.8155 2 роки тому +1

      @@craigbrown3559 : I think nobody attacked classical singing during that podcast. And for a very good reason : among us, half are classically trained singers. Watch it again and you'll probably notice that we are only saying that there are false claims from CERTAIN classical coaches who think their approach is the only healthy one, and that the sound they are after is the only legid one. That's all. There are probably very interesting lyrical singing teachers that don't spread vocal myths, and it is something I personally respect a lot. Note that the persistence of false beliefs is also very common throughout the commercial and popular music singing coaches, and I judge it with the same exact severity.

    If you want to destroy myths why not use correct terminology? You are talking about sound and sensations. The teacher should understand physiology and neurological basis of producing efficient sound at least. Coaches, you have a different job. Don’t repeat two sentences from every teacher you’ve played for. Roger Winell

      Who decides what is "correct terminology "

    • @arnaudm.8155
      @arnaudm.8155 Рік тому

      Alas, there is no such thing as correct terminology, because there is nothing like a common "vocal lexicon". But since you have many things to say, why not writing it down here and develop ? I'm even not sure to understand your word salad. I need more elements to be convinced.
