Circle D 6l80 Torque Converter Install On My Ls3 C6 Corvette

- Опубліковано 25 жов 2021
- After going to the track the other week I decided to install my old Circle D torque converter back in the corvette. I pulled out the 245mm converter I had made a few months ago and put in the old 258mm converter I had made back in 2018. I already talked to circle d about what we're going to do converter wise so the 245mm will be going back to them to get a different stater design put in.
The car went 6.50@108 on the 258mm converter a few months ago. This month with the 245 the car went 6.66@103 since I was blowing through the converter.
Modifications to the car are listed below.
factory 6l80, factory 2.56 gears, custom circle d converter, BST differential brace, BTR custom grind cam, trick flow gen x 255 heads (unported) 69cc chambers, BTR LS3 Trinity Intake Manifold, kooks 2" headers, oem npp mufflers, vararam intake, ati 10% udp, dsx flex fuel sensor, fic 540cc injectors.

What up great info and great video bro keep it safe
Nice i just got my converter today, will be doing this next weekend, good to see a video first
What converter did you get? Hope the video helps some.
@@andrewd843 yank pas3400
@@rol2680 I ran that one for about a year
Respect 🙌
Great video just had a couple questions, my 09 vette with the 6L80e and 3600 stall has trans temps of 190-200 in regular daily driving but when i push it the trans temp will go up as high as 215. Is this damaging the tranny?
What is normal operating temp for these auto 6l80 and is a cooler necessary if you have a 3600 stall?
Both of my 6l80 cars never see trans temps over 190, even after beating on them all day in the summer. 215 is definitely getting up there in temps. It might not cause damage right away, but I wouldn't be beating on it if it's 200+. Do you have a trans cooler?
I’m sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. But I’m curious. Do I need to go to my local tuner shop and retune my truck if I install a higher stall converter?
Reason being is that I installed a BTR stage 2 truck cam and I still have the factory torque converter and I plan on getting a circle d torque converter.
Yes you'll need a new tune for everything to work like it should. But I'd talk to you're tuner or whoever is going to tune it to see how they like to do things.
@@andrewd843 thank you for taking the time to reply. Appreciate it
@@MartinAguilar213 anytime!
I releve reading yo can use the stock convert in the stage 2 truck cams. If not I screwed my dad over 😂😂
@@alexvillalobos7137 yeah you can use the stock converter. For example I put the stage 2v2 truck cam in my 5.3, but since I have 308 gears I definitely feel it slow off the line. I plan on getting a torque converter and gears maybe 410s just to make it a little more fun. Off the line, I don't really care for top speed much.
So do you push the aftermarket converter into the flywheel or you use shims to fill whatever the gap is
It's about proper spacing. Need to measure and figure out if it needs shims or not.
what did each converter flash to? oe what was the spec on each? both single or triple disc?
@@andrewd843 oh ok do you know what each stall was rated for? And why triple disc instead of single? Just asking this info for myself but for others who see your videos and look for the same info for like research I do appreciate your vids and responses thanks im still gaining info so I can travel my own journey but I went with the Yank PAS single disc
@@andrewd843 man i really appreciate all this info wow and ive used a Yank 4200 stall for 10 years thats why i went with their 3400 PAS just need to get it tuned for the converter although i stock block, heads, intake and cam just full exhaust a Halltech CAI and Tune so far and i have the 273 gears but all your info gives me much needed info thanks again and whats the C6 LS3 NA record you gotta be close right?
I have a question im gonna replace my torque converter and i want to know do i need any seals or anything.. no leaks no what so ever... just want to know if i need any seals
You shouldn't
What cam are you using?
Every cam this car has had was custom
How many tenths did u pick up just on the converter ?
Years ago I swapped from a yank 3400 to a circle d 3800 and I dropped 3/10s off the 60ft alone. My SS with a 3400 went from 1.8 60s to 1.5 60s when it only had headers.
How much fluid did you put in the torque converter?
I just finished mine and it’s ready for the road. I installed a new torque converter and added 1.5 quarts.
sorry not sure if i replied to this or not. I updated my account to a new email and i lost all my comments I have posted.
@@andrewd843 haven’t yet. Lol
@@queldidit sorry about that. I never actually paid attention to how much I put in the converter. The sizes will make the fluid amount vary. So I usually just toss some fluid in, let it sit add some more once then toss it in the car.
@@queldiditwhat did u need to install just the torque converter any new seals??
Question- my stock converter is bigger than my 4000 yank stall. Is that normal?
Perfectly normal. I think stock converters are around 300mm but the circle d I run are 258mm or 245mm
@@andrewd843 thank u
Would you mind emailing those pdfs to me?
Someone asks: Why no muffler tips out the back?
Answer: Cause "RACECAR"!!!
How much will this cost to do
How much did it cost me? I did the work, so it didn't cost anything.
Never been raced. 😂💀
Could you email me that pdf??
What's a good email to send it to?
