- Basic Instructions for creating click tracks. Usibf Garageband is similar. This is NOT an instructional video on how to use Logic Pro X; it is intended for those who already have a basic understanding of Logic.

Great video. Thanks. However, I believe there is a simpler way in Logic X.
1. Go in to your Mixer window (Command + 2).
2. At the top, you can choose between "Single", "Tracks", and "All". Select "All"
3. Find Logic's default "CLICK" track. Right click anywhere on that track and select "Create Track"
4. You're done! Find the track all ready to go in your Main Window.
To create your own click track instance, see 7:20 of this video.
Thanks John. Man, I apologize. Just now came across this comment. Thank you! Yeah, there is also a tutorial on how to bus out the klop and record it. This is much easier, but I create in this way because the band found it too annoying. haha. Of course, I may look into this again and just make adjustments to the Klopfeist itself. Thanks again!
this is what i'm looking for, thank you.
@@JefferyADavis62 But when you use Klopfgeist as the software instrument, you can customize the tonality and the sound in the metronome settings (right click on the metronome symbol). Here you can change the samples by changing the notes of bar/measure etc. and also volume and tonality. It saves you from having to insert the notes and (an even bigger advantage in my opinion), when you have time signature changes, it will automatically go with it (if you have 1 2/4 measure somewhere in the song for example). Put in the vocal cues and bounce the klopfgeist channel with the entire track. Done...
And now that we're typing anyway, Maybe some complementary tips:
My experience is (at least for me and my band members) it works very well if your vocal cue is always exactly a measure before including a count. So if the verse starts at measure 50, the cue starts at 49 with 'verse, 2, 3, 4' . The advantage is that it is always predictable and the feel stays in rhythm. When a bandmember knows the song it is reassuring to here the cue exactly when he expects it, instead of 2 counts later. It might mess you up.
Second tip:
If you have a click with cues and/or backing track, I always make markers at the cues. And then I bounce the click as a PGM .caf file and the track as a seperate .caf file. This way, when you use it in Mainstage (which lot of people will I assume. You can use those markers in rehearsals. you can easily start the track at verse 2 if you have a marker list in Mainstage.
Yes! Absolutely correct! Thank you. Every now and then I post that this is a very old clip and any updates or, in this case additions, are welcomed!
I'm a newbie to Logic Pro and the world of digital home recording and needed this!! I just created my first click track thanks to this!!! Thank You!!

Excellent video for a beginner like me. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad to help, Michael! Let me know if I can help further.
Great video Jeff!!! I was a Logic user since 2.5 but stop using it in version 5. Migrated to ProTools and stay for many years...now, back to Logic...which is the king for Midi. You vide was a blessing! Basic principle but PERFECT for someone like me "learning" all over again. Thanks for your patience and for putting it all together!!
Glad to help, Marcio!

Mark Sciaruto LOL. More than welcome!
😂😂🤙🏻🤙🏻
A MUCH NICER CLICK TONE THAN I USE! THANK YOU!!
Like most of you, I’m continuing to learn as I record with LPX and there are some great suggestions in the comments below. Soon, I may record an updated tutorial on what I’ve learned since this clip was created. Don’t hesitate to ask for subject matter. If I don’t know the answer, it’s a great learning opp for me as well!
Thank you my lord! 🧙♂️
Hey thank you for the video; you are funny calling this easy!
Let me know if I can help!
UPDATED DISCLAIMER: This video is several years old. Much easier and up-to-date procedures are definitely out there. I’m keeping this one up because some are still able to use it.
Thanks for keeping up!! Great resource!!
It helped me TODAY. So, thank you for keeping this up!
thank you for help
Thanks a lot sir! :)
Could you add a link to the download for the verbal queues? cant seem to find it on loop community myself :/
did you ever find the download link ?
Hey man great sounding click tracks and great job doing backing tracks man I do a lot of mixing and recording tips on my channel so if you need anything tips I do a lot of mixing and recording tips on my channel and keep making great music man and keep recording and mixing your doing great
UPDATE: HERE IS WHAT I’VE DONE THE PAST TWO YEARS. I have used multitracks.com to purchase the actual studio stems. MultiTracks has an incredible app, “Playback”. The App is free, but the PRO (recommended) is about 9.99 per month. Any clicks / stems you buy form them (or your own) can be launched from an iPad. Tempo, key, and instrumentation can be changed in a manner of seconds. Go to www.multitracks.com and look for “Playback” app and videos.
I found this video very helpful. I've been to the Community Loops website and am unable to find the queue loops recommended. If these loops are still available, could someone please post the link. Thanks
Jeff, this is great...thank you. I just wondered if you had time to expand the subject using a couple of musical techniques - accelerando and ritardando to the track? Also, changing the metre for a couple of bars i.e. 5/4 etc. Thanks again.
Hey Hodget. Let's start with time signature. Move your locator to where you would like the time signature to change / right above the panning control of your top (first) track you will see an arrow. Click on this. You will see a "signature" row. Click on the "+" of the signature row. Type in the new signature. Boom. There it is. Be sure to place the locator where you would like to go back to the original signature and change it back there.
Tempo Alterations:
- Go to "Edit"
- Down to "Tempo" (and its drop down arrow)
- Choose "tempo operations"
- "Position: Type the measure position where you want the change to begin and end.
- "Time": Set the beginning tempo and the final tempo
- "Density": Always use 1/32. Much smoother.
Of course, experiment with these settings and you'll discover more of what you can do.
Hope it helps!
Jeff Davis Superb! Thanks...
at about 12:30 of your video, what do you do if the beat is off? I have imported some songs from the 80’s and they undoubtable didnt record with a click.
Amazing video!!!!
Instead of copying the track and cmd V to paste - you can just right click and "repeat region" about 30-40 times then delete the overage.
can you share the cue's? I can't seem to find them on the community website?
Hellow can you tell me how to download it?
Super helpful video! Thanks for the great insight
Btw, Cue tracks are no longer free on LoopCommunity, but they are free on Multitracks.com!
Thanks for the info, Tony! Glad the clip was a help to you!
We're can I find them?
Hey Mr. Davis can you tell me where to go exactly on Loop Community to download the cues...
E3 Da Drumma Student Sure..go to their website, create an account, go to their "store" page, then download "Band Cues" (may be a 5.00 charge now, but used to be free)
I'm in the newest version of LOGIX and I am getting two midi channels, "snare chamber" and "prince hall one" added in for the click track. What do I do with those besides turn everything off? Is there a way to remove them? Since I only use real instruments and vocals I've never seen this before.
Hey Stormy. I’ve not come across this, but you can usually just drag the tracks off of the main window to delete them or just pull their values down to “zero”.
Thanks for this video! It appears you used a live track for the song. How does Logic assure that the live track doesn’t get off with the click? Would I be better off re-recording my songs to the click vs. using my live recordings?
Hi Chris. Though this clip is several years old, to answer your question. I have found thats it’s always best to record your material with a click track
Jeff Davis Thank you for the reply.
HI! i need to bounce a song with the click on it, it has some time and tempo changes, is it possible to bounce the song with the click without haveing to creat a click track? thanks!
Lucia Ramella Hi Lucia. Yes. I’ll post a tutorial soon if you’ve not found one yet.
Thank you for the video - I am a beginner and this helps a lot - can you tell how you got your name right above in the corner of the program? Danke!!
Hi Jo. Glad the clip was a help to you! I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean by your question, though. :)
what mountains are in your YT cover picture? They look like the blue ridge mountains of NC, asheville, blowing rock...just wondering
Hi Jay. This is a shot of my wife’s she took at Clingman’s Dome.
thanks.so not far off from my guess, huh? This looks exactly the same as the view from my mom's house in blowing rock nc, looking towards grandfather mountain. beautiful picture.
What to do if the tempo is not consistent in the song?
Hi James. Great question! I'm on vacation, so this is strictly by memory - bear with me and I'll try to answer. I'll double check when I get back. First, select the starting point in the track where you need the new tempo. Now, either under the "file" or "edit" menu, try edit first, towards the bottom of the drop down menu that will appear, you'll select "show tempo list". Click the plus (+) button. A new tempo item will appear in the list. Type in your new tempo there. Upon playback, the tempo change will occur at that point. Hope this helps and happy tracking!
Hey Jeff! When I try to find the BPM of the track it doesn't work. My track just has piano and vocal. Any thoughts? Thank you, Bella
Hiya Bella! Hmmm. I’ll have to give that some thought. I do know that if the track is muddled or of really low quality the BPM meter def struggles. I’ll see what I can find out for ya.
How send signal-track to front speakers with out click and how send tracks to drummer headphones with clik?
I've been using a completely different rig for several years now, so I'll try to remember. I believe this is what we did: You'll need:
- 2 direct boxes w/ Cables
- a cable with 1/8" male stereo on one end and split to two 1/4" stereo jacks
- in your logic loops session, pan your click and cues (guides) hard left (make certain all tracks are stereo)
- Pan everything you want heard in the house hard right
- plug the 1/8" stereo male into your laptop
- plug one of the 1/4" ends into one DI box (going to the board, of course), and do the same with the remaining 1/4" Jack and DI Box.
- your audio tech (or whoever is running your board) should be able to tell which channel is just the click and cues and run those to the headphones of the band. Of course, the other channel they will include in the house mix.
- depending upon your headphone/monitoring setup, you can feed both the clicks and the stems (audio tracks going out to the house) to the band and mix.
Again, many moons ago and I am not an audio engineer. Our tech at the time did the rigging. Hope it at least helps some. I guarantee there are much better tutorials on UA-cam than what I just offered. Good luck!
@@JefferyADavis62 Thank You👍
How you download the audios guide?
Can you tell me the link or something please
Hi Juan. It used to be available here. If it no longer is, I'm not sure where. I may get around to creating some. But try this link. loopcommunity.com/band-cues
nope - it looks to be gone
DrKewel 1 you have to buy it ($4.99)
Hey Juan, www.multitracks.com/free/ should have what you're looking for!
I like the idea of the cues, but can’t find any cue downloads on loopcommunity.com. They may have moved on to using the Prime app. Am I missing something? Do you have a link?
Hey Fred. They used to be available on multitracks.com as well, if I recall. Tell you what, send me your email and I’ll send you a zip file.
I pasted your email and deleted the message. Have it to you tomorrow. 👍🏻
Why you dont use the actual metronome in logic X instead of making a actual click track? just curious because you dont have to do that in Protools
Turtle Traxxx Apologies that I’m just seeing this. You can send the default click track (internal metronome) to a bus and export it. In my case, the rhythm section/orchestra preferred a different tone.
OK - so, do they still offer the free cues folder? If so, can you tell us how to find it? It's been 6 years since you made this video and it seems that they are selling a lot of items and I can't find a "cues folder" - thanks!
Hey Jim. I don’t believe they do anymore. If you’ll give me your email, I’ll send you a zip folder.
@@JefferyADavis62 I found some from worship together… Kind of interesting because they have cues that include counts for example, “intro 234” but I don’t understand how you would change the tempo, but they also include the individual accounts like the ones you showed in your video
If you would like to use Logic's internal metronome (Klopfeist) this is a great tutorial. You can make adjustment to the tone. I may go back to trying this as well. ua-cam.com/video/53qRafab5fI/v-deo.html&pbjreload=10
You should up the volume on your videos
You can loop tracks instead of copying and pasting but thanks sir
Loudlazer Inc. Correct, but I believe that would only work if you're "live" and want to loop a portion of the song or if you're only using a perc loop for groove.
Jeff Davis I mean you could loop the click track instead of copy and paste sir
Loudlazer Inc. Yes, I understood what you were saying. 😊
Jeff Davis I mean like the metronome 4 beats you don't have to copy and paste it you could loop it
Hey Jeff, I seemed to have deleted this comment. Excuse me if you see it twice. I was complimenting you that old or outdated, I still found the video useful. But as you know the CUE folder you suggested is long gone. Is there a way to get it or something very much like it. I need the verbal count offs! Thanks!
Hey Albin. Send me your email and I'll send you a zip file.
You may want to watch this short tutorial on how to simply add the built in click to a project track list: ua-cam.com/video/NzoTXEzFATA/v-deo.html
Multitracks has made available their clicks and cues as zip files. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you check out their PLAYBACK APP!!! www.multitracks.com/free/
Brutal Vid, get to the point!!!
rhewes100 Apologies. I was asked to create a tutorial from the very beginning. Just scrub forward.
What a fucking pain in Logic to have a bloody click track mate!! Thanks for the vid. I mean it is not your fault Apple are such lousy developers. This shows plain and simple that Logic is a shit program. Been using it for years and nothing but total agony. Always probelms, extremely sloooooow work flow, YUCK!
Ahhh Jeff... Did you actually watch your recorded video to make sure the sound is heard on the video from Logic? I can't hear the music you played and I can't hear the click track. I gotta give you a thumb down.
Hi Juan! Actually, it's there just very, very low. I have several offices around mine and can't work with much volume.
Bro so long
This is the absolute worst tutorial on how to create a click track in logic. I can't even believe it.
andrejalil I agree. 😂
Reminder folks. This is a very old video and not how I create clicks now and it was also by request it started from the very beginning of the process to the end.
shouldn't take fucking 25 minutes to explain such a simple topic...
