Hey Charles, this is a fantastic video. Rather than just giving us a long rundown of all the things Logic Pro X can do, you start a project from scratch. It basically shows us how to make a song from the very first moment you open the application. The pacing, and the fact that you only show the most essential steps early on, both make this tutorial extremely effective. Great job.

Hi Charles, I've been using the trial to get the hang of Logic and I've noticed I'm missing presets. Not sure if this is trial related or if it's an allocation of where my files are in Logic? For example I'm missing the ESX sampler and the 80s vintage piano you were using earlier. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks !
Actually it looks like I solved my own issue in regards to the Sampler. As 10.5 removed the ESX and now is just using the Sampler proper. Still the question remains on the presets for the piano.
Hi Horacio, thanks for the question. It's also possible that logic changed the names of some of the instruments when they recently did their big software update. If you add a new software instrument track and then click on the 'alchemy' instrument inside the inspector window then try searching for '80s piano' in the alchemy search box.
@Joseph M. Hi Joseph, I'm really glad it's helped you with making music, you can of course share this video, no problem at all. Let me know if you ever have any logic questions!

After djing for such a long time, all I’ve ever wanted to do was make some music. This month I got the courage to do that and your logic tutorials have saved my life. Thank you for what you do 🙏🏾
I was an old school audio engineer (30 years ago) used to physical hardware, mixers, 24-track tape, etc., but to be honest, Logic & Mac were a little bit intimidating. This video made it easy. It’s just amazing how many very sophisticated features this software has and how well it’s all demonstrated in the video. I really appreciate this excellent tutorial on Logic! Well done.
I gotta say, so many tutorials are really bad at being clear in their explanation. You really make sure to be very specific about most things. It's really appreciated. Nice work. This should be the model for how tutorials should be presented.
Just wanted to say that it's unbelievable how much work and passion you put into this video.. Thank you so much! Wish there were more people like you on UA-cam.
CharlesCleyn I never thank you for teaching me Logic Pro X. Once I learned from you, I started learning everything and anything about music production. And now that I feel comfortable with Logic Pro X, I return back to thank you and appreciate you. You are a great sensei.
Awesome video. I'm one of those that learns by doing and not by watching so your 1 and ahalf hour video turned into a 3 hour tutorial for me because I was doing what you were doing on my logic pro. Absolutely amazing teaching tool and excellent teacher. Thank you.
Thank you Charles! I got my Logic Pro a week ago and tried it out yesterday. That trial filled me with a lot of questions I wanted to ask, and you have just answered all of them. I can now spend my afternoon recording some more and in a much more efficient way! Brilliant!
omg, you are the ONLY music production UA-camr that explained how to not only view, but change the metronome tempo inside of Logic Pro X. I didn't know that Beats & Project (Large), was the first step in viewing the tempo inside the view bar on top. Everyone else just assumes you already know this. but for tech-challenged people like me, I need bare bones instructions to understand the full project. You truly are a godsend 🙏🏻
I have watched many tutorial and I must say this is the best..the breakdowns, the informations, the explanations I just got thank you for making this video
Just watched this video. Granted a little late from your original posting, but oh my gosh was it perfectly detailed. I took a Logic Pro class a semester ago in college and had already forgotten everything, as I am getting Logic for my birthday in a week. Thank you for the perfectly detailed breakdown!!
You are a natural teacher. Fantastic! I am 67 with English being my second language. I followed everything and ended up with mp3 file on my desktop. Thanks heaps! Subscribed :)

I am SO impressed so far as I'm still watching. I took a class on Logic Pro so I had a bit of a base getting into it but after not working with it for a few years I felt like I forgot everything. Watching this is reminding me of not only what I once knew but I'm learning about much more than I had known before. I am SO grateful you created this tutorial. To not overwhelm myself I'm watching this in pieces so I can give myself time to retain it all. Timestamps for reference and all, my gosh this shouldn't be free but bless you for making it so . To the very least, I'm definitely subscribing! Thank you sir

When I cut the loop or region and copy the same it doesn't come in proper grid.what is the proper way to cut region and copy the loop.please help.i have tried lot but failed.and how to cut folder stack.
hey, sure I can help. What I recommend is you use the functioin 'snap to grid' this will snap the region to the grid when you drag it around. Look on the tool bar right above your session and you'll see a drop down menu where you can choose this.
@@CharlesCleyn sir I am using snap to grid.i have tried all division, beat, smart etc but it's not working properly.is there any other which to be enabled or not.

This is the best UA-cam tutorial I've ever watched. It's evident that you put in your all into making this great tutorial. Thank you for much for this gem. I'm now confident that I can start a project in logic pro x. Please make more if you like. Blessings, love and light.
After djing for such a long time, all I’ve ever wanted to do was make some music. This month I got the courage to do that and your logic tutorials have saved my life. Thank you for what you do 🙏🏾
Really awesome to hear Joanna. Come back and share your music with us in the Facebook group when you’re ready.
Share your update ,I am a dj as well just downloaded it and getting started in this lockdown all the best

UPDATE: Yes ! I will join the group and share my tracks. I’ve made so many tracks now. I love that I started and continued. thank you again !!
Thanks a lot Westen! I appreciate the kind feedback.
This is the most perfectly explained Logic tutorial I have seen. It has helped sooo much thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to record this video for us!! You are a gem 💎
Just wanted to say that it's unbelievable how much work and passion you put into this video.. Thank you so much! Wish there were more people like you on UA-cam.
That's very kind of you! I'm super happy to hear this.
Thank you.
Thanks DJ, I really appreciate that and I'm glad it was a helpful tutorial for you.
Thank you Charles! I got my Logic Pro a week ago and tried it out yesterday. That trial filled me with a lot of questions I wanted to ask, and you have just answered all of them. I can now spend my afternoon recording some more and in a much more efficient way! Brilliant!
Super glad to hear that!! Enjoy recording!
Just ordered a Macbook Pro 13 in (M1) I bought the creator kit with it which comes with Logic Pro, cant wait to start making music! Thank u so much!!!
That’s awesome Zach! Have fun creating some music this year.
omg, you are the ONLY music production UA-camr that explained how to not only view, but change the metronome tempo inside of Logic Pro X. I didn't know that Beats & Project (Large), was the first step in viewing the tempo inside the view bar on top. Everyone else just assumes you already know this. but for tech-challenged people like me, I need bare bones instructions to understand the full project. You truly are a godsend 🙏🏻
This tutorial is exactly what I've been looking for. Great pacing and concise (too many UA-camrs just like to hear themselves talk). Thank you!
I've never seen anyone explaining this tutorial in such detail and with such an ease. You have taught me something great brother. God Bless You.
Thanks a lot Ankit. I really appreciate your kind words.
You’re very welcome Jessica. Come back if you have any questions!
You are a natural teacher. Fantastic! I am 67 with English being my second language. I followed everything and ended up with mp3 file on my desktop. Thanks heaps! Subscribed :)
i just ordered a macbook (2012, ive never used or had one before) for my music exams and composition is something i have to do to pass and i heard Logic Pro X was the best app fit for me. Thanks for the tutorial! you taught me more than my own music teacher did!
Thanks Aly, I really appreciate that, it’s very kind of you. I’m very happy to hear that it’s helping. Thanks for subbing! There will be more tutorials on the way for future learning!
@@CharlesCleyn looking forward to learning more from you!
so I've been using Ableton for a few months now, and I'm thinking of switching over to Logic. I'm going to try it for free first and this video is literally amazing. Every other beginner Logic tutorial is pretty garbage to be honest, but this is awesome dude. Thank you so so much you've helped so many of us.
You are very welcome and feel free to come back if you have any questions. I've also used Ableton in the past and now especially with the logic 10.5.1 update I'm really happy to stick with logic.
You rock dude. Thanks
43:10 "Running low on creativity." I love this phrase! Definitely going to borrow that.
:)
Hi Charles. I just wanted to say that I have finally worked through this tutorial and got to the end after many attempts and it is a great lesson. Clear, informative and useful. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this! As a complete newbie to music production and to playing the keyboard, this was fantastic. You are articulate and your voice is calm and unhurried. I learnt so much in these 85 minutes! And you are so right .... it's all about not being afraid to experiment and play around and try new things. I'm 77 and having a ball learning new things at this stage of my life.
Thanks Slim. I really appreciate your kind words and it’s also inspiring to see you continue to push yourself and learn new things!
OMG - thank you for making this video!! Really well done and so helpful! I am a guitar player but brand new to DAWs, audio interfaces, etc and this is truly going to kickstart my progress. Bravo! 👏🏻 🙌🏻
This tutorial is amazing. It made me feel super confident before getting into Logic Pro X. Thank you, Charles!
Great tutorial man. What really captured me was the “don’t loose hope in the beginning” and “don’t be scared to get your hands dirty” proverbs. Thanks for this man
Man after years using Cubase for recording and mixing I've made the change and moved to logic, well to be precise you took away all the fears i had thinking i might have made the wrong decision. I now have more confidence keep exploring what logic has to offer. Thank you for your Videos.
Wow, Logic has always scared the crap out of me as soon as I opened it but this run through helped more than I could imagine. This might be the most helpful video I've ever experienced for getting a handle on something new to me. Thanks so much.
Very glad to help you on your first few run throughs of logic. Come back if you have any questions.
Even 5 minutes in, I learned a ton, great video, thank you!
Thanks Bryan! Hope it goes well for the rest of the video.
you are a real one for this
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks. I booked a 6 week Logic Pro course for a in a few weeks time. I don’t like going into things totally clueless so did some background research which included watching this tutorial. I am even more excited now I have a little bit of knowledge after watching this. Subscribed. Thanks for taking the time to pass on your valuable knowledge for free to everyone!
16 minutes & 44 seconds in & I'm learning stuff I didn't know. Thank you Charles, this is a fabulous resource.
Incredible video! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! May the Lord bless you in all you do! To take the time to do such an incredible tutorial takes precious time! It almost felt like you were here with me in my studio teaching me the basics of Logic Pro X. Thank you for your commitment to making such incredible videos for the purpose of helping other musicians and producers! You are a gem!
I've learned so much from this set of lessons. So beautifully set out. So well taught. You speak very well and are so listenable and your instructions are easy to follow without losing me in the jargon. Thank you.
I really appreciate the positive feedback. This inspires me to keep going!
The BEST Tutorial on Logic Pro X Seriously well Explained. THANK YOU SO MUCH Charles for your Efforts in making this Video
My pleasure and I'm glad it was helpful :)
Thank you for doing this.
EDIT. 8 months later I came back to this video to refresh my knowledge. I’m even more impressed with this guy now after I’ve been using Logic for a while now… Apple owes this man a paycheck… His demeanor and ability to teach, as well as edit and explain is so commendable. I’d love to see him get paid for these videos…
I found this Logic tutorial video to be very helpful. As an older dude just wanting to record some of my own stuff for myself, this video is a great jumping off point. Very clear and concise, no wandering off into the weeds. 10/10 would recommend.
I've been thinking about trying Logic Pro
Do it.
This finna be my master class.
And please let me know if you have any questions too.
I just came here to know the basics, for editing my "podcast" and even when it is WAY too extense for what i need, I think this video is great!! and I absolutly LOVE that you have marked on the description all of the topics so you can jump on what you need best.
You've done a great job here. You sure should be proud of your work. Congratulations. It's absolutly great. And thanks a lot, in case that i ever want to jump on the music world, witch i doubt, but who knows what future brings.
Super kind of you to say this. I really appreciate the thoughtful words :)
Hey Charles, I was here when your channel was starting and I mentioned something about uploading music on Souncloud and Spotify and you answered my questions. Well, now I have a youtube channel where I post covers and you really inspired me to give this a try so thank you :) Awesome video as always!
Oh Charles, you saved my life.. Going through most tutorials, I had almost lost my hopes in learning this. Your tutorial made it a cakewalk
The song that he made in the beginning with the loops and synth sounds like a Pink Floyd song
I like Pink Floyd!
Charles, your tutorial has helped me so much. Very professionally delivered thanks.
You’re welcome John. Glad it proved helpful to you.
@@nvhfilmmotivational hey man, I'm not too sure then since using snap to grid is the solution to dragging regions quickly in place. You can also drag your cursor and past the regions.
@@CharlesCleyn thanks a lot
Sir how to cut folder stack.
I FINALLY invested in focus rite and logic, I am so happy. Tears of joy. This is my passion, and I get to do it thoroughly. Thank you.
I appreciate this guy cause he spent hours to explain someone who doesn’t understand a shit when he understands the whole world behind this,,, thank uuuu
My pleasure!
Charles, I just want to say thank you for this amazing tutorial !! I could not skip a second. I can record properly and edit from now on for the videos :)
You’re super welcome Seulki! Come back and share your music that you’ve made in logic :)
Please keep making tutorials, these really help me. Thank you so much❤
U deserve more!!!
Thanks for watching and I'm glad it helped, good luck with your logic journey!
You’ve taught me so much thanks 🙏
Glad to help, thanks for watching.
Unbelievable! Your tutorials are TEN TIMES BETTER than paid courses on Logic Pro X!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Facts
lol just bought all my starter gear for producing, been really studying this video for the last few days
Incredibly helpful, thanks so much for this well thought out video. I’ve been playing around with GarageBand and wanted to try Logic Pro. This was the best tutorial I found by far. Really appreciate all the work that went into this.
Thanks Ava, I appreciate the kind words and you’re very welcome. Hope this helps on your logic journey. Come back if you have any questions :)
That was a fabulous tutorial clear explanation, Visual good, and have learned lots by watching. Well done.
Thanks a lot for the kind words Yap!
Thank you!! I've been wanting to start LP X but been intimidated by its vastness.
(yes: liking and subscribing)
I’m glad it’s helping, let me know if you have any questions :)
Hi Charles, I am a voice actor from India. Watching you explaining Logic Pro X was like attending a master class. I've learned quite a bit from it. Thank you so much.
Hey Avdhesh, what a kind compliment to hear. I'm very happy to see that it's been comprehensive for you.
Learned so much from just one video! After so much time trying to UA-cam other videos, I have decided to stick with your channel for LogicPro. Thanks for making these videos man.
You're Canadian, aren't you? "Aboot," "Ansembla". Great video!
You caught the accent! Haha yes.
today is my first day recording my own song this was a big help
Awesome. Very glad to hear that!
Man found you tonight. I liked how you broke everything down so simple. I know the software but learned a lot listening to some things I had overlooked. You are patient and I just wanted to thank you. Definitely will shoot you some questions. I have recorded some things that are on Apple music. Do you have a intermediate Logic Pro X tutorial are even an advanced one?
Thanks Charles. Very happy that you stumbled upon my channel. Shoot me any questions you have. As for another tutorial. I do have a level 2 one. Link in the description.
I'm moving from Windows Ableton to Mac Logic Pro X and came across your tutorial. Thanks a lot. I managed not to get stressed and quickly warmed to your down to earth relaxed delivery. I just subscribed and will be watching your other vids...thanks
Definitely gonna get it. Was on the fence for so long. (Since I bought my first Mac in 2017) I normally record all my songs in GarageBand send them to people with better software. Like logic.
Since I want to work on my own mixes. I think this would be perfect.
Hey man, ive been recording rap for like 2 years its my everything and i did all my recordings on Pro Tools it seemed so easy to me but due to it being alil pricey overtime i saved up and switched to this it seemed convenient due to having a mac ive been tryin this out for a week and idk whats up with the vocal mixing? My vocals sounds dry im gettin weird pitch gains. The program has been beatin me up a bit lolol feeling discouraged to keep goin but this vid helped a bit thank you bro. I keep tellin myself its just a new program i gotta get rid of the pro tools set up and focus on learning this its a tough switch up imo this whole program seems alot more advanced with plug ins. Once i learn more with mixing and mastering imma try to get an akai for beat making i just hope this shit starts gettin easier with time. Thank you for your vids and the work you put in on this it means alot to people like me 🙂
Hey Nick, I know exactly how you feel. The first time I opened up logic I felt overwhelmed but day by day things start falling into place. I know you'll get there. Feel free to pop back in here and ask any questions that you need help with.

Just starting. Early millennial starting to get serious about songwriting and recording. First tutorial on logic pro. Thank you for your help!! :)
4 YEARS LATER AND STILL FANTASTIC . THANK YOU FOR THIS
one of the best tutorials ive seen on youtube bro. It was never easy for me to learn stuff online but youre teaching in an amazing way. thank you
thanks a lot man :) I appreciate that feedback.
honestly, thank you so much for this. I am a music student and have been struggling to understand any DAW especially logic (t). I felt like i was just stupid and was honestly about to drop the unit. THANK YOU for explaining everything so well. One watch and i already understand this DAW WAAAAAY better. ABSOLUTE HERO!!
WOW, APPLAUSE. THIS GUY IS BORN TO TEACH SERIOUSLY. PLEASE LOGIC PRO X OR APPLE NEED THIS HERO TO STAY WITH US OR THE NEXT APP. HE TALKS SOFTLY WITH THE BEST TIMING TO ENTER MY HARD BRAIN TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING A TO Z PERFECTO. THE PRE-MIX WAS MY BEST SECTION.
Thank you. Tired of Protools and needed to get a new DAW. This video is excellent.
Happy to hear this. Hope the transition is going well.
@@CharlesCleyn SLOW but I'm learning... Again THANK YOU for your help.

Phenomenal video @CharlesCleyn. You're making me more eager to start my guitar and vocal journey. One thing as an IT guy that I have to point out is to mention to SAVE your progress often or an autosave option if available in case of battery shut down, power loss, or surge lol. I love how patient you are and descriptive with everything. Your energy is of someone I could jam with and meditate on a serious level. Hope all is well brother keep up the amazing videos!
coming all the way from windows , I am an FL studio guy, but few days ago I decided to give Logic a shot, and because i had more experience in fl studio so this was pretty easy to understand, thank you so much and happy new year 2023.
Very helpful. I have learnt loads in 15 mins. I have all my studio equipment and do not no how to use it so this is extremely handy/helpful. Thank you! I had to subscribe!!
Thanks Santana, great to have you here! Hope I can help you along your logic journey!
I am so excited Charles, and happy that I found your tutorial. Having recorded a LOT in great studios with wonderful engineers over the past 35 years, I realized that it was time for me to take the bull by the horns myself. I acquired Logic Pro X over a year ago, and then proceeded to feel COMPLETELY overwhelmed... I stopped trying to learn! I was giving up... Tonight I feel like you have just given me the keys to a brilliant songwriting tool, a door back to my heart and soul.🥰 My producer is going to be so pleased... I am over the moon with joy!❤🩹 I feel hope! Thank you. You are an ANGEL!! Gratefully, Pamela Ruby Russell
Thanks Fam For your time now I have a better understanding of how this functions appreciate you peace king!
This is one of the most comprehensive instructional videos on UA-cam! Great Job! Charles! 💯
