- Check out how easy it can be to make big changes to the looks of your vehicle with these LED light upgrades. This video shows the transformation of the AutoEdits 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 pickup truck from older stock to modern.
This upgrade is rated for any level of mechanical skill... ANYONE CAN DO THIS ONE!!! So get out and have fun with it.
The trick here is to pick lights that fit your taste and work with what you want the vehicle to look like.

**Product Update**
It's been 3 years since this upgrade and I am going back to stock for the headlights since these didn't' hold up as expected. I can't honestly recommend them at this point.
The tail lights and third brake light are still doing great and I still love them! Especially the tail lights.

Important tip: when changing the headlights: take note of the of the stock headlight aim for reference before you get it off the vehicle. New headlights are almost never aimed properly out of the box, making the beam pattern too low (can’t see a thing) or too high (blinding traffic).
A good way to do this is to either point the vehicle at a flat wall with the stock headlights on and either:
A) mark the tops of the beams with some tape.
or
B) install one new headlight and adjust its beam to match the remaining old headlight. Then replace he second headlight and match it up with the first.
This is great information... they did come out of the box aimed low!

I've gotta say, I wasn't a fan of the lights on the bench. But seeing them installed on the truck they look great! They all work so well with the paint on the truck. Thing looks mean! Nice going.
Thanks! That was the plan all along and part of the fun when looking through all the lights on the JCWhitney website... lots to choose from but only a few really seemed "right" for what I wanted. Of course they were some of the most expensive ones but hey, no one said looking rad was cheap!

You should get led license plate bulbs and interior bulbs and get stubby antennae, also get LED headlight bulbs fix dents,and remove big round lights.

Hey brother, Appreciate all your Dodge Ram videos. I have a 2004 Laramie 1500 named the Red Beast. Looks like crap but drives like a dream. Doing all the needed maintenance and repairs before I swap out the old transmission and a needed paint job. I just replaced the transmission solenoid block in the truck so hopefully that will give me a few more miles out of this transmission.

I have a 2017 Rebel and there is a little door in my fender skirt that allows me to open for access to the tab with out removing the trees that hold the skirt to the fender. Also you can get to the lower bolt without removing the grille, you just need longer extensions.

autoedit I have two border collies so I know all about destruction and buzz saws!! We’ve gone away from tennis balls and throw lacrosse balls. Thy are solid and seem to be indestructible. I haven’t found a soccer ball that will last longer than a weekend though!!!! Love the channel.
Hank Williams Jr used to have a custom '86 Dodge pick-up named Bocephus. It had a cocktail bar built into the dash..... Maybe take some cues from that truck for your next modification ?

I am not sure and it might just be me but when you put the truck in reverse the reverse lights on the
3rd brake light did not come on if that makes sense.

It change a lot with the new headlights ! Honestly I would paint the whole truck, I really don’t like the current paint job !
New paint is not going to happen for a while. The list of mechanical things to fix and upgrade happens first then paint!

Does the Anzo third brake light leak? I've had three GO Recon third brake lights on three spereate RAM trucks and they ALL leaked. I started looking at Anzo but was worried about the same issue. Thanks.

Hey Autoedit, big fan! But I have an ideal for you. Why not remove the stock rear bumper and add one like the front? The truck is beautiful but don’t you think if you put a offroad bumper on there it would be just a pinch bit perfect

There's a screw in the same spot as on the stock units but I'm still figuring it out.

It has adjustable coil springs in the front and I just moved them up 1 inch.

It's a hand-me-down from an old friend... don't know the brand but it is comfy.
usually adding newer style lights to older trucks makes it look cheesy and ugly but these look awesome!

You can’t tell it’s an older truck until the 2019 model, that helps. Besides all the flash it looks like my 2017

Everything came with the lights, I just swapped brake light to running light wires because it looked better to me opposite.

I swapped what they had for brake and tail light for my preference.

Hey bud, I see you posted this a while ago. So you may be able to answer a question for me. I’ve got a 2017 Ram I could buy a set of these to put in.
But, how have the headlights held up? Any kind of fogging or flickering on the lights? Are you using any kind of LED or HID setup for the primary bulb? Then last but not least, once you got them adjusted, how is the light compared to the stock lights?

Here's the honest review... I love the looks of the headlights but they are not great at making light. I'm going to order LED bulbs for them and swap out what they came with and see if that makes it better. Otherwise, they have been good and again... I really like the looks of them. Here's my real stand out favorite... those tail lights!!! I love them and they look and work fantastic.... major upgrade over stock!!!!

Great video. Awesome truck. Are those headlights plenty bright compared to your stock. Will I need HID installed to make them brighter. I just bought them. Should be delivered in a few days.
I would recommend a brighter bulb before you install these lights. They look great but need to be brigher.
What size bulbs did you put in to make it brighter. Which one did you put in (part#, brand, etc.)?
Did you just change the low beam only?
I haven't done the swap yet but they are H9 halgoen bulbs in there now so any LED replacement for that would be good.

Will those tail lights fit on a 2011 Ram 1500 just wondering? I looked on the website and it said 2013-2018.
They will fit... you may have to switch a wire or two too make the brake light and running light correct... Ram did some wiring harness changes in those years... I'm very happy with them.
Have you ever changed the mirror lights? I am having a hell of a time figuring this out...
