It would be cool if when you boarded an enemy ship it turned into For Honor style combat with the minions and whatnot.

for honor combat is so underrated its crazy how it's not being implemented in other games. But probably the biggest downside of this game is your cant board.
Not going to happen unfortunately. If you want that kind of experience, where you board the enemy ship and fight, play Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

I'm not sure what's exactly stopping you guys from importing a melee fighting system from any other Ubisoft title. Imagine just importing the Pirate moveset from For Honor, for instance.
So I saw the roadmap for this whole year and they're adding a lot of stuff two of those things are new features they haven't discussed what they are yet
Balancing and gameplay pace. What should boarding do? Lock two players in a melee fight? what happens to other ships outside the boarding and boarded parties? Do they stick around or can they interrupt the boarding? What happens if the boarded succesfully defends its ship, return to the naval fight when said player was already on the loosing side (hence the reason for being boarded) and loose in the naval fight anyways?
Mixing 2 modes of combat works out perfectly on singleplayer games, as everything is catered to the player, everyting can be ajdusted to the player like in AC4, where enemy ships just patienly waits for the player to comfortably end the ongoing boarding. But in a multiplayer game thata would stall the action for the rest of players and maybe creating a loop that can be abused.
I do agree that boardings and fort assaults need a bit more of depth, but melee combat is not the splution here, it would only make the game overcomplicated far beyond what anyone could expect.
I mean I do want it but your ship takes damage during boarding rn so idk if its worth it unless they make it immune but all because they don't have melee doesn't mean the game isn't good

My little self was looking forward to all the news about this game after playing AC Black Flag. Now as an adult, seeing what it has become today... I would rather buy Black Flag again

@@shadowdragon_x7919 Already have like 40 times :( I am so excited for skull and bones, even if it is without melee combat stuff. I will probably play the hell out of it. I just hope they add it at SOME POINT. In like 1-2 years. idk. Sometime so you feel like you can do more stuffs.
@elizz4007 They made this into an ever evolving pirate game (which it seems like a LOT of people don't understand) they are going to be adding to this so much... like how they did No man sky. Every game that comes out now, you beat it within a few days. You lay it down cause there's ntn to do after. (Well, that's not happening with skull and bones. These are always something for you to do in it)

My time with the beta was fun. I think some people are being a bit harsh with their criticisms especially those that haven't even played it.
For one, its a great take on the pirate genre, it has its own identity and doesn't follow in the footsteps of past games which we've seen over and over again. Would on foot combat be nice? Absolutely but for some reason, its fitting not having it. Hard to explain really but it all blends together very well, from the ship combat to exploring islands when at port.
The visuals and sounds are amazing. I found myself many times getting side tracked by just enjoying the scenery and listening to the shanties.
The story is pretty good and truly made me want to get to the next mission to uncover more, i also wanted to explore the islands at ports to keep finding hidden stories or treasure chests.
The progression feels GREAT! It's exactly what I want in a game. You are constantly grinding to get bigger and better stuff and I love that gameplay loop, the grinding doesn't feel useless and you always have a goal to complete.
My one true negative to this game is theres a lack of pvp.
I'd include no on foot combat however, it just works not having it. Hard to explain like i said but it just works. Theres obviously a few bugs and issues that needs working on but the experience itself is very solid. Keep in mind, Starfield won game of the year and it launched with many issues.
My final thoughts on this game is, its a wonderful game that people should at least give a chance. Go into it with a completely open mind, dont compare it to other 10+ year old games, and play to have fun. If you're looking to have fun, you'll have fun but if you go into with a closed mindset looking at all the negatives, you'll have a terrible time. The experience you have is what you make of it.
I give it a score of 8/10, negatives are extremely limited and i had true fun with it.
lmao the fact that you assume we don't know that you're endorsed by Ubisoft. AC Black Flag is STILL the ultimate pirate game, not this excuse of a pirate game.
This game is on my to play wishlist. So I’ll definitely be playing this later this year.
This game is not even close to AC Black Flag, released October 19, 2013. In AC Black Flag you explore under the water, you can land ships, chase treasure on the islands, fight with various weapons, blow up outposts and kill the captain inside, etc. In this game, everything Animation game has nothing to do with piracy, just a ship driving simulator. How can a company that made a game with legendary fighting mechanics like For honor (September 15, 2016) not add sword fighting into this game?????
And why is there no shoulder angle camera (AC4 tps) shown?

I kind of agree with you. I’d like to see sword play added. When I think of pirates, I think of cutlass swords and dueling.
That being said I’m going to buy the game, but I think sword play is an addition I’d like to see added.

There's a ton of PVE content, all of the PVP is optional, and you can get pretty much anything in the game without or without pvp if that's your preference from what I have seen and read.
Outrageous to charge for the game + battlepass (80$ ish) when the game basically has less "pirate" features than AC Black Flag had. No boarding , swordfights , on-foot exploration , no chantees.
Shame on you , Ubisoft.

In the last trailers I haven't saw one nation ship, like some years ago before the delays where there was like portuguese ships or spanish ships like it was in Black Flag

Ubisoft should get the devs of the new prince of persia: lost crown (Ubisoft Montpellier) game to remake skull and bones. They at least had solid movement mechanics and good gameplay.

In the beta i was able to get to lvl 10 in 40 hours~ so do you wanna tell me endgame is lvl 11 ship? what youre showing in the video? Then we already seen like 90% of the "endgame" in the beta???
I really hope that Ubisoft is gonna come up with like some more content and we gonna at least have more then middle sized ships and boring repeatable stuff with trash pvp.... please Ubisoft i hoped so much for this game...

This Video in a Nutshell: No Endgame for solo players, a few big guilds will own everything and dont allow you to play.
Once you takeover a settlement its with you the entire season you don't lose it , also every one has the own settlements of same type not 1 per server

I just reached endgame and it's bad. Getting outpost and they are capped in coin generation. But we still have to manually move the coins, which is aggravating. Disabling fast travel for that really kills it. There is no way to get stronger outside of this loop with the takeovers and the contracts. Very boring and monotonous loop. Disappointing. Also having things on the map that are 4 levels higher than you can achieve means even with 2 of my friends we can fight a boss or raid a fort. Bad move. The post release reviews are gonna eviscerate the game when they see how the endgame actually feels to play.

I've been watching this game development for many years now. When the beta came out I had low expectations. Actually had a lot of fun playing except for the fact that it crashes constantly like every 5 minutes. Sometimes even more than that. I loaded in once in order for it to just immediately crash reloaded in and re crashed again immediately. It caused my Xbox series x too hard crash about 15 times over 2 days. So the point where I had to unplug the Xbox and plug it back in and order to get it to turn on again
As much fun as it was and as much as I would like to play it, I couldn't in good conscious get $70 for a game as broken as this was especially considering it's releasing immediately after the beta that I could barely play

Please change camera and movement on land. It feels so clunky. The minigames are terrible on xbox. But normally i like the shipping part a lot. I am looking forward to this game.

I tried the beta test and Assassin's Black flag was so cut down that it's embarrassing to release a game like this after 10 years of development and still declare it AAAA, however, I bought the Black flag Gold edition at a discount for 12 Euros at the Ubi shop and I'll enjoy it there as much as it was supposed to look real only with the older graphics, what can I say, they had a huge potential to make a really great open world of Pirates of various oceans, ships and monsters, but at the same time there should have been a proper story, a combat system, but attacking fortresses and subsequent conquests, see Black flag, some the pirate city and its own bay with its own functioning economy, just such a perfect Black Flag 2 brought up graphically and game-wise to the level of 2024 and the coming new series of Nvidia 5000 graphics cards and improved PS5 Pro and Xbox X Ultra consoles, it could have been a Ubisoft showcase and advertising on the upcoming Assasin RED and Star Wars, but after this episode I'm worried about the quality and gameplay of the new Assassin and Star Wars.

They forgot to add the part where in any of the pvp activities, fast travel for you is disabled but every one else can still fast travel. If you need to make it to that 1 designated safe port, the whole map can see it and instantly fast travel to that point where it's disabled for you. Absolute horrendous game design. Pvp in this game is griefing like you've never seen it before.

This game in Dev for over 10 years and the biggest ship I can sail with is still a Brig like in Black Flag? Where are the frigates or even warships I expect in a open world pirate game? Lots of wasted powder there…

It is not even close to as bad as people have said.
I saw some early game play, almost everyone said it looked outdated, the game play was boring, and it was VERY lackluster. If the game play is just naval warfare again and again since there's no other form of combat, I see this game losing interest in players fairly quick, I even saw some msgs from people who've worked on the game saying they don't even know what they game really is, just watching all the game-play I still don't know what this game is either.
Ironically, I don't see Skull and Bones surviving the Sea of criticism and gaming markets, feels like this game is dead before it even releases.

Sea of thieves is already watered down and it doesn't even compare to black flag. Skull and bones plays like black flag and has better graphics than both.

Skull & Bones is a game they were obligated to release because they had a contract with the Singapore government over it, it's going to be a massive fail and the servers will be dead after a couple of weeks. you said plays like Black Flag? even naval was better in Black Flag and it's the only thing you can do in S&B, and don't tell me "how would you know you haven't played it" , i played the closed beta, i could play for 5hours and was bored after 1h so i quit :) but yeah, have fun playing minigames to gather wood XD

@@Haltzo The design philosophy of skull and bones is opposite that of sea of thieves for better or worse. Sea of thieves gameplay and feature focus is being an individual on a ship and doing ground/individual based activities. With skull and bones the majority of the current gameplay loop is ship combat with more ship combat variety than sea of thieves and part of progression is mercantile progression, which sea of thieves doesn't have.
