I came into a good early money making method, requires a bit of luck, but theres several ships of a mid level (5-6) that carry chests of silver, the luck is how many spawn in the given area at the time. I got lucky and had 3-4 groups of two of these ships, quickly bumped me from just under 9k to 22k. I ended up going around to kit my new ship I bought, built and kitted as best I could early game, sloop with bombard and basilisks. Making money is easy, you can even get more min/max with it by doing the whole trade goods and taking them to where they sell for vastly more.

A quick not on the food. Grilled gives you a better benefit but the cooldown is also extended so you are able to use it less often than raw. The cooldown extension is negligible between raw and grilled but when you go to cooked meals the cooldown is pretty harsh. I recommend eating a buff meal before going into a big encounter then use the grilled food or raw for boosts during combat. I rarely need to consume food items thougu unless I'm traveling full trim over long distances or need a buff meal for combat. Most of the time I'm sailing along the coast at half speed.
I went into this having never played black flag nor read any reviews for it. I personally love the game and paid full price after playing the free trial. Really dont understand the terrible reviews
Don’t worry about hull size too early if you start getting full travel to your closest outpost so you can drop your gear in there but also find the pirate campfire (upside down triangle) so you can throw powder on and get a 30 minute boost to energy. Use the boost along with cooked food and you never need to slow down until you start overfilling your ship, so when your ship starts slowing you know it’s time to find a outpost again.
I save time by always managing warehouse stuff when returning to my ship, I always double check my inv just before setting sail. Saves running to the warehouse/cache to manage it when you can just do it on your way out anyway
Just started level 3 boat. I got marked as a threat. Don’t know how. Big ships keep killing me. How do I fix this. I can’t do anything. As soon as I leave base a big ship levels me asap. Livid w this
crashed ships are 100% an amazing way to farm up some easy cash. Especially early, if you dont have many cannonballs, there will be scrap metal around so you can craft tons more (100 ammo per 2 scrap i think?) And plus theyll have like 300-400 silver each + some trade goods
Early game you should definitely focus on grabbing the ammo crate blueprints. Don't ever waste your silver on ammo. Learn the blueprints and craft. You get much more in return and the mats are super simple to get.
I am currently trying out the cannons you suggested. I having a bit of trouble working out how high I need to aim, so I mostly been racing near them and attacking fast. It seems to work quite well so far, until I can improve the furniture. I did a level 10 boss quest who was quite tough and kept using fire on me to break my sails for a while. It seemed to work quite good on him, and I only needed to heal once the whole time. Also had to quickly dispatch a few weak ships that were around. I can have 5 weapons, so I put torpedo at back for now and the repair auxilly on, but it doesn't heal when used. I think it only useful to heal others so I swapped for the aoe damage one. I wonder if using the tank ship would be worthwhile with this build as I felt it was too slow with my dps cannons. Also wondering, do you feel higher DPS is better than higher ship level? It probably don't matter once you use a higher ship as you can get to level 10 easily but for a smaller ship it could matter as you may not get to level 10 once equipped.
Thanks for the video. ID still say you should go with max ship rank. a rank 5 sloop cant out damage a rank 8 padaw***. since Rank alone gives a DPS boost.
As you level up that becomes less of an issue as your Cannons do more damage. For Boss battles your are totally correct, you wanna have 1000+ cannon balls in hand when you start the fight
So another little note for the refinery, alot people didn't know this when I'm teaching new players stuff, but you don't have to stay in any refinery when you are refining stuff, you can exit and go about your business and come back later to grab the materials
Thanks for making the video. I realize that the game is controversial and/or people are looking to hate on it, and it definitely has its flaws, but I liked what I played of the game. I had a good time.
I find more and more new releases allow 'freedom', but they lay it out so you can do quite well just following their breadcrumbs. Why go 'off mission(s)' to get that piece of gear manually when it will be rewarded by just trying to do things in order - with less hassle and more efficiently when looking back. Also somethings just aren't intuitive so reading EVERYTHING on the menu screens can save a headache - like hitting 'G' on the map screen. I eventually figured this out in 2 days of play and use ALL the information they provide and it all falls into place - where to find what, etc. and now it's quite easy to leave port with a plan.
I play on PS5. I was playing yesterday, and I'm so mad. Privateers came after me for no apparent reason, and my ship got sunk 3 times. I lost all my cargo. I had 2 treasure maps, and now they are permanently gone. And treasure maps are the only thing you can't put in the warehouse
It's all about having that DPS balance. That's why I really like the bombards if I can do 2500 a hit and kill them before they can even shoot me I consider that a win haha
There is a limit to how many missions you can have at a time btw. Also had a bug in the beta where I abandoned a mission and went back to get it again and never got it back.
This is an excellent game. Made me feel like when I just got an N64 in 1998 or 99 playing and exploring Mario 64. In other words this game makes me feel like I was 17 again 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥👍😎
when it came to making silver i found buying the commodities from different vendors while they r reduced price or base price, then travel to another and sell them if they r higher priced. i would also stock pile them and when i need silver pull them all and see what vendors want and make bank.
I didn't find this method to be very profitable. You can make money but once you subtract what you paid for the items you only make around $1000 +/- depending on how much you sold. Looting broken ships will bring you far more silver & I find it to be a lot easier.
Early game, grab all the jobs from the job board. But later on, you can reach a max cap limit for contracts, so you have to abandon a contract to accept a new one.
I saw your other video after this where you corrected yourself. 😀 Enjoyed the videos. It took me a minute to figure out how to abandon the contracts. Lol
Hi @AlexCornnut Great vid One thing I do different is, I use padewakang. I use bombards front with mortar. I basicly start my fights lobbing shells over islands (bombards are bit weird to use at first but so much burst). In the back I use torps (just for the drop and forget gameplay honestly and its great when u get chased in combo with the mortar to have some "zonecontrol") My broadsides I have no clue to be honest, long guns, demi cannons, culverin, bombards. Tried em all and weirdly I liked long guns about most, but they do less dmg then culverines. Probably gonna get culverins for broads as "good for all master of nothing". But yeah. You have a close range build? I believe some tank ships will rock with flamethrower and close range stuff to just burn stuff. Curious about end game gameplay, I had the option to get some material from a friend and because of that I had the padewakang in about 4hours of gameplay (dont pin me on that i didnt time it but it's something like that). This aspect is amazing for players to get into the game with a friend, but I hope there is more of a timesink for later game stuff otherwise the game will be "done" way too soon and I would be bummed out honestly.
I honestly use the bombards for all everything. For close range you just shoot and aim low and you'll still get all of your hits. We took out the level 10 ghost pirate ship and all I ran was the bombards and had great success.
Just wait. Silvers easy to get once you start doing helm stuff. Upgrade the first helm slot in the overview when you can until you get to the gold skull rum. Costs pieces of 8 to upgrade but once you get your helm underway.. it's no biggie. When you can make that, takes 2 white skull rum, then if you don't want the guns from the first pirate lord.. sell the gold skull to him. 100ish got me like 20k+ ish silver. Wasn't really paying too close attention.
You actually can have too many missions. There is a cap on how many of each type you can have in your Journal. I'd still suggest grabbing as many as possible that are within the same completion region... Do multiple while you're out to maximize your return.
12:21 I don't understand this tip at all, you didn't really explain the logic here. Why hold on to it and not just turn it into money right away? are relics needed for other things in the game so your only selling them in emergencies? I don't see a point in using up slots in warehouse as a "bank" when you can just turn it into silver and not take up a slot, unless there is some need to have relics that you forgot to mention
It's for emergencies, to fast travel when you get stuck or buy something and are low on funds. If you need the space sell them. But for many people have a bit of a emergency fund is helpful.
@@alexcornnut ok this makes no sense to me. instead of keeping physical items in an inventory to be used only when you need money, i'd just convert it into money and always keep a minimum amount of money just like in real life for emergencies. For example if i know 5k is all i need for any emergency situation I'd ensure I never spend money that takes me below 5k unless it's an emergency situation. There must be something I am missing here in the logic.
It's like having a savings account & and a checking account. It's not something everyone will use. For some this method will get them out of a tight spot. If it doesn't appeal to you that is fine.
He is right, the ship from start of the video is like almost 6k silver and you have to buy the blueprint somewhere in indies, plus cost another 2.5k or 2.8k to build it, I ended up in indies with not much silver and everything there was above lvl 5 the lvl I was, and blowing shit up was hard they gave this elite red ship that comes after you and prety much destroys you in 3 shots if you not careful, so those items selling them to smugglers in indies gives you more money if they looking for them or are from coast of africa, some snuff and gems got me the blueprint in no time
The only benefit to holding items instead of silver is that any time you’re ported, you can dump items into the warehouse without having to walk to a merchant. Otherwise this makes zero sense.
am 52 so i play amiga 2000 even commodore if u know whats that......anyway i download the beta cause m huge fun of pirates and the game was so non pirate and complex that where the hell fun is even after 10 hours didnt manage to have a ship n crue anyway seems nice game if u like complx games and online staff i prefer story mode games but thats me
There's a part early on where the npc past the bounty board and job board tells you about this. It's still confusing, but basically some items are cheaper/more expensive in other areas so she tells you to buy low and sell high as another way to make a profit. I honestly not sure if red down means it's cheaper than othe places or if green up is saying it's a deal. I'm guessing red down means it's cheaper than normal and green up means it's more than usual. I am not sure of which tho. I was distracted when I first started playing and missed some cutscenes and info. But it's a stock trade system badically.
A lot of people talked about it being worse than black flag but you simply can’t compare the two one’s naval based and the other is while has naval aspects it has always and I mean ALWAYS been a ground based game and they compare sea of thieves but that’s a different story that being exploration there is naval combat but not as advanced as skull and bones
17:38 I do hope ubsoft balances things in this game to not force everyone into a meta end-game destroying creativity and all. Sad thing about this game having pvp and challenging pve events with other players is your going to instead of just do whatever you want and who cares because it's single player your going to need to make sure your actually pulling your weight and contributing or not losing continuously in pvp events and when this happens people tend to pick the "meta" of what works the best and everyone looks exactly same and doing exact same thing in-end game. Seeing this part of your video just made me think of this and i assume you like fire bombs for personal reasons not because they are the OP weapon in the game, if so that's going to be boring endgame if everyone just plays with same weapon all over the ship.

Just started level 3 boat. I got marked as a threat. Don’t know how. Big ships keep killing me. How do I fix this. I can’t do anything. As soon as I leave base a big ship levels me asap. Livid w this
Super super super helpful - thank you!! Best way to level?
Mainlining the story missions and doing missions that are at or above your current ship level works very well.
crashed ships are 100% an amazing way to farm up some easy cash. Especially early, if you dont have many cannonballs, there will be scrap metal around so you can craft tons more (100 ammo per 2 scrap i think?) And plus theyll have like 300-400 silver each + some trade goods
Bro this is a great video. Thanks so much. Subbed
Early game you should definitely focus on grabbing the ammo crate blueprints. Don't ever waste your silver on ammo. Learn the blueprints and craft. You get much more in return and the mats are super simple to get.
awesome video bro! Can’t wait for release
Same here!
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾, not gonna ply this, but thx for the work an help you provided to those tht will, subbed great vid
That is super kind of you thank you very much
Thanks for the video. ID still say you should go with max ship rank. a rank 5 sloop cant out damage a rank 8 padaw***. since Rank alone gives a DPS boost.
Bonus tip attack the sails of a ship and they will eventually tear causing the ship to become immobile
There are cannons designed for that exact thing ;)
Only thing is do worry about cannon balls some fight it takes more than 200 balls to kill a tier 9 enemy ship
As you level up that becomes less of an issue as your Cannons do more damage.
For Boss battles your are totally correct, you wanna have 1000+ cannon balls in hand when you start the fight
Great tips. I like the DPS of those bombards. 😎👍
Me too! Literally insane
Do you need to use a smaller boat to hunt sharks.....i glossed over that
So another little note for the refinery, alot people didn't know this when I'm teaching new players stuff, but you don't have to stay in any refinery when you are refining stuff, you can exit and go about your business and come back later to grab the materials
God I hope that is something people know without being told. . .
Thanks for making the video. I realize that the game is controversial and/or people are looking to hate on it, and it definitely has its flaws, but I liked what I played of the game. I had a good time.
I agree 👍 lots of people ready to hate on it.
It's one of the few pirate games I can play with my friends and that is enough for me.
Thank you, excellent video, very helpful
how do i get the smuggler pass i finished all the story mode but i dont have it in my store
Absolutely amazing bombard ship you have there!
Game is super fun / not sure how anyone wouldn’t have fun with this game.
best tip wheel edit. thank you for that. the best....
Very good video. Very helpful and I learned a ton of very useful info! You Sir got me to hit that sub button before the video finished! Thank you 👍🏻
I use Snow. For the cargo hold.
i play this on PS5 and i noticed that there is a limit of how many contracts you can have active at a time
Yes that was an oversight and mistake on my end.
did you know that if you go in to settings and then gameplay you can turn on/off auto harvest🤔🤔🤔🙂?
If you attack the city while you plunder it speeds up the plundee time
That is a cool tip! Good looking out!
Another tip, you can zoom in your shots by pressing r3 on ps5
I personally found the 'Long' cannons my go to weapon. The range and critical hit ratio is insane, reload time is very slow though.
It's all about having that DPS balance.
That's why I really like the bombards if I can do 2500 a hit and kill them before they can even shoot me I consider that a win haha
I'm coming after your boats, beep beep!
There is a limit to how many missions you can have at a time btw.
Also had a bug in the beta where I abandoned a mission and went back to get it again and never got it back.
Yes that is true about there being a limit to missions. I mis spoke in that part.
So do you need to be lvl 3 to get those canons? Or is it just a print you need to find?
You need to get the blueprint to craft them.
You can also get them by leveling up and opening the chest you receive for each level
That build shreds how well does it work against ghost ship and other boss
On the tier 5 ship it did really well. I had no problems with the Ghost Pirate 🦜
When you are at a vendor can they use what is in your warehouse ??
Yes 👍
Couldn’t pick up anymore missions said quest log was full
That was an oversight on my part.
Something I plan to correct in the next video
The sloop gave you a 20% damage buff to structures that's why you hit hard not the fire cannons the sloop is an explosives ship
Great video! Thanks man!
This is an excellent game. Made me feel like when I just got an N64 in 1998 or 99 playing and exploring Mario 64. In other words this game makes me feel like I was 17 again 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥👍😎
How do you get/use a spear?
The first boat you start in. That's the only way to use the spear.
@@alexcornnut Thanks mate
when it came to making silver i found buying the commodities from different vendors while they r reduced price or base price, then travel to another and sell them if they r higher priced. i would also stock pile them and when i need silver pull them all and see what vendors want and make bank.
I didn't find this method to be very profitable. You can make money but once you subtract what you paid for the items you only make around $1000 +/- depending on how much you sold.
Looting broken ships will bring you far more silver & I find it to be a lot easier.
I thought silver was easy to come by with all the ships I was constantly sinking and the treasure maps they would drop
Early game, grab all the jobs from the job board. But later on, you can reach a max cap limit for contracts, so you have to abandon a contract to accept a new one.
I saw your other video after this where you corrected yourself. 😀
Enjoyed the videos.
It took me a minute to figure out how to abandon the contracts. Lol
Black Smith missions are all the same áter your are done?
The blacksmith missions will tear up as you level up but they are repeatable
Many thanks for this vid, it really helps. And I really love this game. It is just the right pace for me. To hell with all the haters.
Hi @AlexCornnut
Great vid
One thing I do different is, I use padewakang. I use bombards front with mortar. I basicly start my fights lobbing shells over islands (bombards are bit weird to use at first but so much burst).
In the back I use torps (just for the drop and forget gameplay honestly and its great when u get chased in combo with the mortar to have some "zonecontrol")
My broadsides I have no clue to be honest, long guns, demi cannons, culverin, bombards.
Please make the video longer! I love wasting my time so naturally i loved this video. 30 minutes of mumbling and rambling isnt long enough!
Great video bro love this game
Love the video, but you got one thing wrong. The best thing you can buy is a new hat. 😂
The best tip for any S&B player is to get higher standards of game
Ngl. I did buy a new hat tho before I did the upgrades lol.
Bro wait till you have lots of locations to fund for the helm. You will chew through silver like it's nothing. 30k-50k to fund all my locations
You actually can have too many missions. There is a cap on how many of each type you can have in your Journal.
I'd still suggest grabbing as many as possible that are within the same completion region... Do multiple while you're out to maximize your return.
What is DPS?
Damage Per Second
Thx very useful :)
There is actually a limit to the number of contracts that you can accept at a time I reached it last night😅
Yes 👍 that was an oversight on my end
Can't wait for the skull and bones x one piece collab or the skull and bones x pirates of the Caribbean event
a One Piece collab would be be peak gaming
am 52 so i play amiga 2000 even commodore if u know whats that......anyway i download the beta cause m huge fun of pirates and the game was so non pirate and complex that where the hell fun is even after 10 hours didnt manage to have a ship n crue anyway seems nice game if u like complx games and online staff i prefer story mode games but thats me
Fire bombs are definitely the move 🔥😂
Thx 💪🏻👍🏻
G for journal.. easy to remember...
What are the arrows when selling things? Are they saying these items have increased value?
There's a part early on where the npc past the bounty board and job board tells you about this. It's still confusing, but basically some items are cheaper/more expensive in other areas so she tells you to buy low and sell high as another way to make a profit. I honestly not sure if red down means it's cheaper than othe places or if green up is saying it's a deal. I'm guessing red down means it's cheaper than normal and green up means it's more than usual. I am not sure of which tho. I was distracted when I first started playing and missed some cutscenes and info. But it's a stock trade system badically.
@@JoeyBComer Red means it's more expensive. Green means it's cheaper than other places. You can also get double green arrows means it's extra cheap
Oh ok I didn’t even realize they chased you, I thought they were just in certain areas
So Alex, do you think this game is going to be fun??
I already had a ton of fun with it. I know I will have a ton more
17:38 I do hope ubsoft balances things in this game to not force everyone into a meta end-game destroying creativity and all.
I use firebomb because it's OP and I out DPS the cannon users. It's a higher skill level needed to make them work efficiently.
highly underrated game, people who hate havnt tried thx for tips.
yhe when i discovered item tracking it was a revaluation. changed the game
Watched for the tips but I was hoping for 1 specific tip.
Do you have a tip to show us how to uninstall the game and get a refund?
You are so clever and original. It's truly inspiring
