You will need the CHANNEL map, World War 2 Assets pack and at least 1 World War 2 Module (excluding the I-16) to fly on this server. This server will be a mix of PvP and PvE and should offer a fairly new experience every time you log in. As we near the release of the server keep an eye out for a release trailer video I am hoping maybe sometime THIS week to go public with the server. Thanks for watching guys much love.
@my dad beats me Well, maybe it’s not most 13YO’s cup of tea. Still, I’m terrible, bought the A-10C module before DCS existed, played the old Jane’s games in the 90s (still have all my spiral flight manuals), and still suck. So the 20-somethings will get me good.
I like it from what I've seen. Having a server with such an open ended mission profile,-basically grab some buds, take off, go see what trouble you can get into-instead of being dependent on more scripted out missions, is brilliant. In fact, I think it models what real CAP was like back then--airplanes just flying around looking for enemy planes who were doing the same thing while everyone else was flying huge, strategic missions. It's a great way to get into some action that won't ever quite be repeated again.
My immediate thought was stick stirring that I saw a lot of in Aces High, to the point that the dev had to put code in to disable control inputs if they were moved too rapidly. Looks silly and nothing like any WWII footage I've ever seen.
Over the past couple of days I have watched several of your Spitfire videos. I'm no fan of the movie Dunkirk, but what I did find extremely impressive about it was the interior shots of the Spitfires, and the Spitfire dogfights. What incredible machines! Those young pilots had brass balls! I'm 62 and have never played any type of these video games, but they sure look beautiful and way fun!
Pretty sure that 109 pilot was just trying to keep his plane in the air, hence the wobble. As for the spits firepower, the Hispanos do seem to lack the bite you'd expect. A single 20mm cannon hit should cause significant damage as long as its not a tracer round.
I would love to see you and LS do some runs together with the DH 98 mosquito, or do another two morons video where you pit vietnam war era jet aircrafts against WW2 planes
@@GrowlingSidewinder no thank you, thank you and Longshot for the laughter while everything else around us is all messed up. I'm waiting for my American Murder Hornet sweater lol.
Stirring the pot was the stick movements used by British bombers to provide an evasive target to German fighters while giving the tail gunner the best target. I see you have 4 x 20mm cannon mounted and they should have cut that 109 to pieces, they performed like 30 cal.
Dude... This is why i love planes so much. Just this guy flying over from England to german occupied france. Just chillin tree top level. True nomad of the skies.
the two 20's are perfectly fine hes not hitting in his convergence so its not doing maximum damage. if he hit the plane in the convergence it would completely destroy the 109plus he was clipping the wings which can be good if both 20's are hitting the same spot but just 1 is gonna waste ammo.
Man. Watching this sure makes me wish I had the money to upgrade my computer and get a HOTAS set with VR...but it's out of my price range at the moment...so I'll just keep watching :D
@@parithon2397 Well, when I said upgrade, I was actually referring to purchasing a newer one...my current one is ten years old and has been upgraded a couple times. It's past due for a newer one :D
Nice vid. Totally agree that the Spit weaponry should be doing more damage than it is. I know they're not the biggest of guns but hits, especially to the fuselage just seem to ping off it! Myself and a fellow Shrekkie both emptied our Spits on a 109 and it was still flying! Slightly damaged, leaking something but still flying. But even with the gripes, we still come back for more (especially with the release of the Mossie)! We'll need to look out for your server. Thanks.
Great stuff, remember the Spitfire has the gunsight anti glare shield if your chasing an enemy into the sun. I agree the Spitfire guns seem a bit lame, you pretty much need to aim for engines and cockpit to get a quick kill. Great flying mate.
Others: Paint their aircraft to match the environment. The brightly colored P-51 Mustang that can be literally seen for miles: We don’t do that here. Jokes aside, that Mustang reminds me of The Red Baron.
Imagine how devastating the Spitfire would have been in the Battle of Britain had it been equipped with 4 x 50cal Brownings like the Wildcat. The Supermarine's .303 Brownings were pretty much just rifle ammunition and unless you hit the pilot were incapable of the structural damage required to knock down a bomber or fighter easily. The 30 cal ammo would literally bounce off the engine block or other hardware whereas the 50 Cal guns such as the P-51 or P-47 used would tear great chunks of metal from engines and chassis members.
the Browning .50 Cal was evaluated by the RAF, and rejected in favor of the Hispano 20mm. If Spitfires and Hurricanes had been armed with .50 Cal Brownings during the Battle of Britain, it would have potentially been a disaster, because at that time, the Browning M2 was very unreliable in a wing mount, and tended to jam under slight maneuvers. It wasn't really sorted out until around 1942
@@travishutchings7068 Interesting considering the Warhawks of the AVG were using wing mounted Browning 50cals early on against the Japanese in China...apparently without issues as you described...
@@GM-fh5jp The AVG flew primarily P-40B's, which had 2 Browning M2's mounted in the cowl, synchronized through the propeller. The wing guns were 4x .30 cal Brownings, 2 in each wing. Keep in mind, that the AVG didn't start flying operations until late December 1941, and didn't receive any "E" model aircraft with wing mounted .50 caliber M2's until well into 1942
@@travishutchings7068 Thanks for replies. I guess the intent of my original post was to point out (given working 50 Cals) how much more effective the British fighters would have been using the heavier ammunition rather than as a criticism of why they didn't. I never had much time for the Hispano cannon of that era, its low muzzle velocity would have required a fair bit of loft from distance or closing to knife fighting range when trying for a decent deflection shot. The impact of those Bf109 cannons must have been horrendous on the lightly built Spitfires. I wonder how the wooden Hurricane framework fared against them? Have any stats regarding damage to either types from such hits?
