I could watch this WW2 content all day my dude. I've never played DCS, I don't even own a computer. But I love watching you. It's like watching history come alive. Love it. Thanks for your dedication with the new server and your uploads.
Pretty similar camp for me, it’s all really fun to watch. Slowly learning about all these terms and what they look like, like rolling scissors. WW2 is great, jets are great, and this comment probably isn’t too helpful for suggesting direction. It’s all a lot of fun :)
“I wasn’t expecting that many people to really join the server.” Grossly underestimated how popular WWII aerial combat is among enthusiasts. It’s literally the golden age of aerial combat.
In the book "Janes : Battles with the Lufwaffe", there were many different little stories from German pilots. One was of a pilot in a Bf-109 K model, chasing a recon Mosquito. He stated he could really feel the extra 300 horsepower & that he knew the engine "would not like it" with the engine firewalled for long. "Such a pretty airplane" is how he described the Mosquito.
My Maternal Grandad was a rear gunner in the Lancaster bomber. He somehow survived the last two years of WW2. He told my Dad that the glass bubble was often covered in condensation. He said he couldn’t see, so when he heard fighters getting close, he would pull the triggers and move up and down and side to side at the same time. Hoping to hit something. Apparently one night the bottom of his bubble was shot off and he had to fly all the way back from Germany. Nearly freezing to death. He didn’t pick his medals up after the war. As I have read in the book about Bomber Command. At the time it was the latest high tech method of warfare. Many of the plane crew like my grandad were not proud of what they did. I was talking to an old lady in a WRAF uniform. I mentioned my Grandad and the fact he wasn’t a part of the Dresden bombing. She quite angrily said. If I had seen what they had done to Coventry and other cities I would feel no guilt about Dresden. It’s not fair for us peace living civilians to put our judgment on what had to be done. A guy my Dad worked with said he saw a Stuka flying down the middle of a Manchester centre street. He watched as it’s guns cut a young girl in half who was stood in a doorway. I love your commentary, you make. Me smile your a happy guy.Your channel and the game are equally excellent. 🇬🇧.
I feel like it's kind of a shame to have late-war fighter variants such as the Bf-109K and Fw-190D up against mid-war variant of the Mosquito MkVI. Would be nice to have either mid-war fighters or late-war Mosquito available so there's a closer parity in time.
my grandad flew in mosquitos, on pathfinder missions over berlin amongst other things. the use here seems a bit odd, cruising about at what looks like a fairly low height! their strength is in relatively high altitude speed, the light weight allowing them to outpace interceptors. i believe they could outpace a spitfire. just seen you’re flying a late war fighter against them, tut tut ;)
I've learned so much about DCS and dog fighting from your videos over the last 6 months. Now I just need a decent graphics card/track IR/throttle so I can utilize my VKB gladiator NXT and actually play the game. Dog fighting is incredibly difficult without track IR lol.

If you get shot down in a Mosquito over the channel, at least you can paddle some of your wreckage back to shore. I thought it would be able to pull nose-on a bit more but only saw it once in the video, and even then only because they were closing from a distance at around 7:35.
Good flying. The Me109 was a dangerous aircraft for the entirety of the war, which is a credit to the overall design of it. It's also touching that there is a whole community out there who want to be on your server......so they can shoot you down.
The Mosquito is a very capable aircraft. When it comes to low speed engagements i use 15-20% of flaps down to stabalize the 109 a littlebit in low speeds when iam in the control zone.
My uncle was part of the Mosquito development team at Hatfield House, outside London. My mom's boyfriend flew Mosquitos for the RAF. They were about 5-10% faster than Bf-109's so quite often they would firewall the throttles when crossing the channel at low altitude. Luftwaffe pilots didn't venture over the channel much after 1941 as RAF patrols were gaining dominance. One-v-one "bouncing" was uncommon historically, but this video is a fun "what if" to watch. BTW, the Bf-109 didn't have a 30mm in the hub; it's a 20mm.
