THIS is the kind of stuff that would make me consider getting into DCS. I used to love war thunder for having something like this, but they opted to leave the immersive historical direction they had originally planned for the cash grabbing arcade game it is today
DCS really ought to be going full-bore on Pacific stuff instead of trying to directly compete with Il-2's ETO content. There's a pretty big untapped market for a PTO sim but nobody seems to be interested in developing one yet.

Hi Jared, great to hear you scored your first kill, congratulations the first is always a big one. And no worries brother its my pleasure just happy to hear you guys are enjoying it.
A full Pacific Theatre would be a sight to behold. I’m talking B6N Tenzan, D4Y Judy, A6M7 Zero, Corsair, P-38, Dauntless, etc. Maybe some long range land-based twin engine planes like the B-26 Marauder and G3M Nell? That would be badass! Carrier groups attacking each other from afar using a combined force of fighters, dive-bombers, torpedo bombers, etc.
I always enjoy your WWII videos but this one is kinda special. My father was in the Navy and was a part of the first troop landing in Guadalcanal. He was a machinist first class and was in charge of keeping the landing craft operational. People do not know the hell those troops endured in the Pacific Theater. My dad spoke highly of Pappy Boyington because of the air cover his squadron provided when no one else would. My dad was one of 19 survivors when a Japanese sub put a torpedo midship of the LST-342 he was on at the time. They were on their way to the Solomon Islands on a secret mission. The stern of the ship sank but the bow floated. My dad was the only crew member left. The bow of the ship was towed in to the island of Tulagi. There are photos on the internet showing what is left of the bow of the LST-342 beached there as of today. I sure would like to see you go after some Zeros with a F4u Corsair. :-)
With the addition of the Pacific it would be cool to see things like the F4F, F6F, F4U, and P-38 added as well. In a dream scenario you may even see TBFs, SBDs, Helldivers, B-17s, and B-24s.
I'm 3 minutes in and I just know this is the most satisfying video I have every watched on this channel! Can't wait for more! There is just something so unparalleled about hammering down a zero!
I personally would love the Pacific theater and associated aircraft to come to DCS. I would really like to fly the Hellcat and the Corsair and take out some Oscars, Bettys, and Zekes.
I have to lay in bed with a machine for 4 hours a day now, and so I have not been playing DCS as much as I would like. I am really looking forward to the F4U Corsair. This video is 2 years old and is this good, I have to check out other of Your vids to see how much this has changed in 2 years. I think if just this was uploaded to the users DL area, I would not play anything else. Great Job
Great vid, as usual. Really liked how you highlight using the better energy management of the Mustang vs the tight turning Zero, using only slashing attacks.
A Mustang pilot who served in the Pacific said that Zeros were easy to shoot down since they had no armor or self-sealing fuel tanks so they were easy to shoot down and light on fire.
I always wondered what a bomber formation defended by fighters looked like from the ground mid attack. All those planes going down, tracers everywhere. Never once seen any footage from that perspective
I'm an old IL-2 player and Pacific Fighters was my absolute fav... but after seeing this, WOW! Looks amazing and I would gladly jump back into flight sims if this had carrier battles/landings.
Great content. Love what you did recreating the Pacific. After watching numerous videos on the P-51 I wish they would revamp the .50 cal damage modeling a bit. Seems like it needs maybe 20% more damage than it currently has.
I think the Zero is that much slower than a Spitfire if we're comparing A6M2 and the first Mk of Spitfires. The Zero is also a lot lighter, so the low wing-loading should help. It would be pretty close so I think ultimately it may come down to skill.
Very very nice! Fun to see WW2 in the Pacific. You did a nice job setting that up. I’ll have to check out the mods. Thank you for putting all this together! Must have been a lot of work but it paid off because it looks really sweet! Thanks again…
Outstanding work, GS! Thank you for putting this together. I hope it was as much fun for you as it was to watch! I also hope you hit 250K subscribers by New Years Eve!
Yes those zeros r not armored and do not have self sealing fuel tanks which means if u come up on its 6 o clock with guns blazing, it's a wrap for that zero. Either blowing it up or fire ball on the way down.
The Japanese pilots bailing out is actually fairly inaccurate. Most Japanese pilots did not wear parachutes as it hindered their movement. On top of that, because the Zero was so combustible, pilots likely wouldn't get a chance to bail before becoming a fireball (although we didn't see many fireballs in this video, maybe something to fix?). Also, a pilot was meant to go down with his plane. Should a Japanese pilot bail and return home, he would likely have to commit "seppuku" (ritual suicide) for failing his country. Just something to think about.
I was always wondering when DCS would get some Pacific stuff it seems like the perfect place for it. The maps will be mostly water, and you can have interesting fights between fleets. There's also some really awesome battles events that would be fun to try to reenact as well. And is it maybe just me but .50 cal seems kinda weak in DCS? If you look at irl vids, .50 would dish out some really good pain but here planes seem to soak it up. Anyway thank you again for the vid really nice to just chill and watch.

The visuals are stunning - especially the smoke. Getting there with DCS and I reckon in a few years time we may see a full scale historically and visually accurate reproduction of Pearl Harbor as the whole place will need to be covered in smoke, especially when the second wave attacks. Pretty cool video. Be nice to see the mustang in a pacific theater paint scheme but that's the history buff in me. Mustang had a definite role in the pacific. Especially over the Philippines, Japan and they even flew out of Saipan for a while. (Other places too.) Still a cool video though.
I hope they include or develop some of the big battleships in the Pacific arena. The Battle for OKINAWA would be prefect. 1000s of planes, 100s of ships and ground forces. US, HMS and Japanese, Yamato, HMS Formidable, USS Bunker Hill.
For the Pacific Theater, getting the Zero's right will not be hard. Their fuel tanks were unarmored. A quick squirt is all it takes. Shoot just behind the wing root. All it takes. Also, for them to do this right, they will have to develop a Corsair, and a Hellcat. The P-51 won't do. Those didn't show up until the war was pretty much over. Like Iwo Jima late in the war. But the P-38 was there.
And I remember il2 Pacific battles - If you had an Nvidia card that supported direct 9c the water looked nearly as good as this 🤣 Looks amazing I might have to dive in..
We don't shock cool air cooled piston engines by powering off after high load low speed then throttling back. Nothing is surer than to induce an engine failure though a cracked cylinder head. It is a key advantage of liquid cooled engines over air cooled BTW. Air cooled engines get really hot with decaying airspeed and high loads so you keep the power in them at all times to manage the varying cooling due changing airspeed. Unless in fine pitch, throtting back on a plane with a constant speed propellor causes the prop blades to go finer and finer to maintain the set prop rpm. This is because the throttle no longer controls engine rpm. What controls engine rpm is now the prop pitch control. If you set 2100rpm then the governor varies the blade pitch (or tries to) to maintain 2100 rpm regardless of airspeed or throttle position. The game is a bit too 'Arcade' in the piston engine department. Its more Cessna 150 than hi-po WW2 aircraft.
For American aircrafts the P-40 and P-39 are essential, but the P-38 is maybe the most important AAF fighter of the theatre. Also in Australian colors the Spitfire Mk.VIII - the best Merlin engined Spitfire maybe - should make.
Need a Ki-84 Hayat (Frank) for this to give the Mustang----and the F4-U Corsair that will soon be released----some stiffer competition, the Zero was simply outclassed by both. The Ki-84 was the best Japanese fighter of the war, and some argue it was the best Axis fighter over all.
The corsair is in development as a full clickable cockpit module. It'll come with an Essex-class aircraft carrier and the devs want to make a map for it as well.
I read about the Battle of Hong Kong about 2 years ago. I’ve been there many times way before that and never knew that history but wished I had so I could have explored that part of the island. It would be cool to see a Hong Kong map!

Oh yeah, I can't wait.
I was heart broke when Aces no longer worked with my video card.
"Hopefully he catches fire", he said calmly
Need a Ki-84 Hayat (Frank) for this to give the Mustang----and the F4-U Corsair that will soon be released----some stiffer competition, the Zero was simply outclassed by both. The Ki-84 was the best Japanese fighter of the war, and some argue it was the best Axis fighter over all.
Please play the Zero next time! Also do they have navy planes like the corsair?
The corsair is in development as a full clickable cockpit module. It'll come with an Essex-class aircraft carrier and the devs want to make a map for it as well.
Zero's have a penchant for lighting up when their frames catch fire!
As much as I love the Mustang (and I want a real one for myself), I am looking forward to the F4-U Corsair and the WWII carrier.
We really need shadows under smoke and impact splashes. It already looks amazing, but with shadows it'd just be mega.
Awesome, would like to see Pacific Theatre in DCS also.
I read about the Battle of Hong Kong about 2 years ago. I’ve been there many times way before that and never knew that history but wished I had so I could have explored that part of the island. It would be cool to see a Hong Kong map!
Ohhhh I’ve been waiting for this!!!!!
