In this video I show how I managed to reset the oil change due warning. It failed to reset and after trying a number of times I found a different way. If this happens to you I hope you find this helps.
This model was a 2017 Mazda 6 skyactiv Diesel and also works on 2014 2015 2015 2016 2018 2019 models
For the comment section we have since found out this works on a CX5 & CX9 models
Please like, share, comment & subscribe if you found the video useful.

I made a video doing it the same way as @ericfeng8246 stated in the comment section. It works very well and if you are unsuccessful using this method I would highly recommend checking out this updated video for another option ua-cam.com/video/HoLzRhjsHJA/v-deo.html
For those like me who didn't get it to work, I found these steps online that worked for me.
1) Car off, press start button once
2) Press and hold start button and trip meter(without starting the car) for several seconds, an orange triangle will start flashing, when triangle stops flashing let go
Worked like magic! Thanks for sharing
It worked. So simple. Thanks
Thanks so much! Works for me.
Legend 🙏
Legend thank you! The video didn’t work for me but this did!
The amount of times I have come back to your video is insane. Five or six times now. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Legend.
This works perfectly on my Mazda 5! I’ve reset multiple times but the warning won’t get away, your trick works! Thank you!
Thank you SO much for sharing this technique! I had to do this twice on my car ('19 6) to clear both warnings, each with a different mileage. As it resets, there appears an amber triangle with an exclamation point in the lower left-hand part of the round display. It flashes rapidly a few times, and then it has been reset.
After watching tons of other videos, your finally worked for me, Mazda CX-5 2015. Big thank you!
Thanks so much. This was driving me crazy as I had tried resetting via the on board app and it was just ignoring me. Your hack worked a treat for my 2019 CX-5 petrol.
Wow! This really works.
I tried reset option lot of times from the infotainment system however it did not work.
Pressing odometer button + start button two times without stepping on any peddle helped reset it.
Worked on 2017 Mazda CX-5
Thank you so much 🙏
Thank you for showing the extra step required in the CX9 I've had trouble with this before and now I know how to reset both!
Hey it works for you in the cx-9?
Hi. Just tried your reset method and it worked first time on my 2018 CX5. Probably saved me a fortune. Thanks

100% worked on my 2018 CX9. Just remember to keep holding the odometer button in until it clears.

I have a 2014 mazda 6 2.2L diesel skyactiv engine, tried this a good few times and it didn't work, any ideas?
On my mazda6 2021 i did the same although i had to remain pressing the reset after for a couple of seconds, i saw small warning triangle flashing then it was set.
Worked for my cx5 so happy as it was getting on my t*ts
When you take it in for an oil change they do remove the service warning
So if this sign comes up do I not require to change oil?? Please help confused here
Thank you!!! No i can repair other Cars
Tried all day 30 times. Dosent work.
Only 30?
This issue happens normally for cars that have the "Flexible" option for "Setting Interval" under the Oil Change menu.
This option allows the car to automatically calculate when you need to change the oil based on the engine operating conditions. By holding that odometer button and turning the vehicle on, you are resetting the engine oil data that is used to calculate the oil life. The dealer is supposed to do this after you change your oil. Surprisingly you do not seem to have this option yet you still have this problem. I am guessing for some cars/regions the option is hidden and can only be turned on/off by the dealer.
If you do have the Flexible option on the center screen, then another way to reset the engine oil data (if holding the odometer button did not work), is to simply set the "Setting Interval" option to "Flexible". If it is already on Flexible, then try to change it to Fixed and then back to Flexible. By doing this the car should automatically reset the oil data. You can confirm this by looking at the display in the instrument cluster and there should be a Warning icon flashing next to the odometer. Wait until it is done flashing and the warning should go away.
After that you can either keep the car on the Flexible option if you are getting your oil changed at the dealer or if you are not using genuine Mazda oil then switch it to Fixed or turn off the oil warning altogether.
Yes!!!! The trick in video wasn't working but this coment did.... I love you my brother!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this information! I tried the technique in the video and was still getting warnings. Buying a used fleet vehicle and changing to the "flexible" option on the first change probably created my problem. I followed the steps you listed and once again got a warning on a subsequent startup. Changed back to "fixed interval" just now and remembered to observe the flashing triangle. Then changed it back to "flexible". Only 500 miles since I changed the oil, so resetting the oil life monitor should not be an issue.
Worked!
👌👌💪💪
2013 diesel skyavtive ; I followed this, however, there was no flashing triangle, instead, on the dash I get the text 'test'. Instead what worked for me was :
Car off
press START
press the Start again but also hold the info DOWN button (on the steering wheel) until you see the triangle flash and then let go.
Yay thank you it worked. Just please clarify you need to hold the button down and then hit the start switch on and off while the car is completely off.. I think thats what I did and it worked....your video looks like the car is on (on but engine off) then you held the odometer and then you hit the start button twice.
Thanks , worked well
Thanks that was driving me crazy.lol
Thanks a lot
