He is lucky guy indeed...just a jack holding and he was messing underneath a car. I almost ripped my fingers for not securing the car with axel holder and never again did something on a car without it.
You dont need to pull oil pump, you cut the second bolt and fit a replacement. I have an 8mm spanner ground down to fit in the small gap, undo bolt a few turns, then cut off the head with air saw/die grinder and remove the leftover stud by hand, super simple, it takes less than 10mins to replace strainer once sump is off. Make sure you pull injectors, the injector nozzle washers are the cause of carbon as the are a wet injector setup. Check top turbo shaft for play also. We do these every week sadly. I can give you our procedure for repair if you want. You need to reset learned values in ecu also

I imagine there could be a danger of leaving some swarf behind when using a die grinder. Do you know if the bolt is aluminium? Wondering if it's possible to use a multi tool with a reciprocating action to push through that bolt, assuming there is enough access to get the blade in there. It looks pretty tight
I had and oil pressure light and engine management light come on , then total loss of power, I've had the pick up pipe replaced, how long would you say this would last until blocking again ?
Thank you for making these videos. Any idea why the oil strainers on these engines get blocked? Why have Mazda made these oil strainers so difficult to remove, especially given that they all seem to get clogged?
Please don't work under the car with just the jack holding it. Place an axel stand somewhere.

I would remove the oil pump and also replace the rubber o rings and the metal gasket. ;)
That chain is a common fail point to they snap .then no oil pressure
Hi there, is it common issue on both diesel and petrol engines? I got 2.0 petrol 2018 and plan longer trip, should I be worried?
How many kms it had on ?
If you run you oil 12K kms between oil changes as a Direct Injection engine you are asking for trouble...
Amazing how clogged they get.

clean it then get a oil catch can. this slows down the carb build up.

Injector nozzle washers leak, combustion gasses bypass into oil, oil gets loaded with carbon, blocks oil pickup, oil starvation at turbos and camshaft kills engine first
Is this a design fault or just normal wear and tear? Presumably Mazda do not inspect these during the annual service?@@yamfingaz5598
