Don't reset your tire pressure monitor unless you know there's no problem. It could go off because you just had the tires rotated. It could also go off because a tire has a leak. Both have happened to me. A tip that I don't recommend using... How to turn off your engine without turning off the infotainment system. Keep your foot on the brake pedal with the transmission in Drive or Neutral (rather than Park) and press the Start button to turn only the engine off. You can then shift into Park. This is dangerous to do as, if your foot comes off the brake, you could end up moving with little to no steering. Use the parking break as well if you're going to do this.
Reset you say. BUT in the video i read: HOW TO REST TPMS Joke obviously. But it is funny that the very first title is already spelled wrong. Hi Mazda Dave, I've had my Mazda from new for almost 3 years and since I've had it my sat nav keeps taking me in the wrong direction so much so that I have to use my phone. I'm very very disappointed with this navigation system and based on this I wouldn't recommend these cars to anyone. I've reported to the mazda dealers where I purchased it but they said they can't find a fault on the day the car was being serviced and that I should do an upgrade. I've done an upgrade either right or wrong and it still takes me in the wrong direction. I'm sick of it.
The only thing you have incorrect there is the ignition button cycling.it is press once for accessory plus a second time for full on and then a third time for off again. You had mistakenly said press once for fall on us again for accessory press 3 for off again. Your step 1 and step 2 are reversed as you hadn't said that.
Can you please help with how to get the sound system from turning off while at a drive in movie place? So frustrating how it shuts off the sound and have to keep pressing the button every 30 minutes. Will pressing the button twice help with this?

The kickdown switch activation is supposedly a pretty violent "kick", right??? On a couple instances recently, I got pissed off & FLOORED my 2016 6 & initially after a couple seconds' resistance, I felt a pretty massive kick or knock underneath... it felt similar, if not even more force than an occasional 1st/2nd gear misshift from my previous car that I owned for years (a 15 y/o GM product)... Long story short, was that the kickdown switch doing its job? Or did I just prematurely RUIN my car (say, the transmission) despite there still being under 35k miles on the clock?

Does anybody know what the solid rectangle with 2 small circles symbol means in the Mazda Navigation? I have asked multiple people at Mazda ever since I bought a Mazda 3 in 2017 and nobody knows what it is. It shows up in Navigation on the side of the screen, then with a navigation pointer on a road. ON my routes, always in the same spots. Not speed cameras or construction (that I can tell). It's a mystery I would like solved. Amazing there is something more comprehensive concerning their nav system.
I have gone through the owners manual, and liftgate is mentioned 317 times. I read each paragraph that contains liftgate, and there is no mention of turning off or changing the volume of the beep for the liftgate. After doing some online research, the beep seems to be a safety feature to warn, people who may be around the rear of the vehicle, that the liftgate will be opening or closing. I hope this helps.
Great question. There are a lot of settings you can change while in ACC mode. I took this right out of the user manual. Its that basic difference. I hope this helps a little. ACC (Accessory) Some electrical accessories will operate and the indicator light (amber) illuminates. ON This is the normal running position after the engine is started. The indicator light (amber) turns off. (The indicator light (amber) illuminates when the ignition is switched ON and the engine is not running.) Some indicator lights/warning lights should be inspected before the engine is started
Mazda Dave The owner's manual for my ‘19 Sport would perplex a nuclear physicist. Instead of simple numbered steps, this doc has us jumping from one part of the book to another to track down definitions of their opaque terminology. The book’s organization is all over the map, and it is 2/3 longer than it needs to be. The authors make the universal mistake of all amateur technical writers: They combine reference (the “what”) with procedure (the “how”) and the result is information overload. And, they commit the mortal sin of organizing the book around the product when it should be about uses the owner will have for the product. I wrote user guides professionally for 32 years but in the case of my MX-5 Sport I’m raising the white flag. Like 99 percent of this car's owner base I’m going to just wing it and teach myself, keeping the guide handy for definitions of terminology unique to Mazda.
Always wondered why I couldn't find a switch to adjust the brightness of the cluster lights. As far as Accessory mode goes and even better option is to hold the shifter button when turning the car off. That leaves it in accessory mode with just the radio and infotainment system on. I find the first press of the start button puts it in this mode but it seems to turn off after 10 or 15 minutes or so.
If it’s blinking it means one of the battery’s in one of the sensors is going out, considering it’s a 2005 and the battery’s start dying at about 6-7 years you probably need new sensors
Oh yeah I didn't notice till I read your comment. Hehe. That's 3 errors that I know of. This guy really needs to go back and do a 'PROPER' version of this video and re-post.
Thanks for the info! I'm trying to figure out how to get my '16 Mazda3 grand touring to NOT automatically start playing my bluetooth-audio-connected iPhone every time I start the engine...anyone have any tips on this?
Each time you start the car, the system is going to pick up where it left off. If you were playing the radio, the radio should come on. If you were listening to something on your phone, it's going to try to connect to your phone. What's fun with mine is that I have to turn up the car volume to listen to anything from my phone. Get in the car later and either don't have anything geared up to play or have my bluetooth turned off, it switches to the radio and scares the crap out of me at the high volume. In other words, if you don't want the car to stream from your phone, switch to the radio when you stop the car. If you simply totally shut down whatever was streaming on your phone or turn bluetooth off, the car will still try to connect to your phone before switching over to the radio.
Do you know how to take apart a Mazda key, as my key casing is broken, unfortunately it’s not the part you remove to change the battery, it’s the casing connected to the four buttons
You should have mention how to keep the car in ACC mode when turn the IGN off because when you turn the car off, everything is OFF so if you're on a call it will disconnect. To do this put the car into N then turn off the car and then put in in Park. This will keep the ACC on.
I knew someone had #3 tip!!!!. I hate it when you turn the car off and you are on a call or listening to an important radio program. Also one pet peeve of mine is when you get in the car and it takes way too long to connect to your phone. Way too long. Thanks for that tip!!!
i put led lights in for my daytime running lights and they did not work. I put back in my original sylvania lights and the daytime running lights still will not come on. I checked the fuse and the fuse is not blown. any suggestions?
The 1. is of cause bullshit. To set TPS 1. adjust all tires to the designated tire pressure, than press TPS button. Has to be done after tire change. If the light comes on during driving, do not press adjust TPS - button, stop and check tires 1. Maybe one is flat, - that is the purpose of this warning...
I have the same issue as Dave (one month ago). Pressing and holding INFO button does not reset the orange Need Oil Change warning on the dash message centre. Clears everything else but this. CX-5 2018 It's getting annoying since it's not due for another 5K kms.
Nope, it forces you to use the key to lock it, as that's the only 100% sure way to make sure you haven't locked the keys inside the car. Personally, I think they could have detected the fob outside the car and allowed you to use the button on the car, but I guess they were worried about the slim chance the fob was really still inside and it mistakenly detected it as outside for the moment when you lock it. Also, you could possibly have the battery die on your fob with the car running (maybe you lost the physical key?). Forcing the use of the physical key prevents both scenarios.
I just leased a Mazda CX-5 and when I use the factory installed remote start the lights blink for the entire time the car is on. Is there a way to change that? It's driving my neighbors insane and it confuses people because they look like hazard lights.

the button to lock/unlock doors on the trunk is not available for my 2017 Mazda 6 sadly
Thanks Dave, just got a new CX5d. Any tips for the diesel?
Honestly, the tips should be universal. I can not think of any specific tips for the diesel.
Amazing there is something more comprehensive concerning their nav system.
what is accesory mode?
Can anyone tell me how to stop the bleeper when the tailgate is raised or lowered on a 2018 CX5, its very annoying and not required.
@@mazdadave9230 Thank you. the world has gone health and safety mad. what happened to common sense?
If you have a bt50 (ur up not the new version) sports mode is slide it to manual mode don't use manual just leave it there that's sport mode
I can’t find my cluster dimmer. 2018 mazda3. At #6, that switch for my car is for trip A and B.
Try rotating it. Don’t push it in. Rotate it clockwise and counter clockwise.
What is the difference between 'On' and 'Accessory' for point #4?
Great question. There are a lot of settings you can change while in ACC mode. I took this right out of the user manual. Its that basic difference. I hope this helps a little.
ACC (Accessory)
Some electrical accessories will operate and the indicator light (amber) illuminates.
ON
This is the normal running position after the engine is started. The indicator light (amber) turns off. (The indicator light (amber) illuminates when the ignition is switched ON and the engine is not running.)
Some indicator lights/warning lights should be inspected before the engine is started
Hi Dave, do you have instructions for replacing the switch unit , when your push button ignition
no longer turns off completely?
I would bring it to your local Mazda service station.
This is why I get cars that need keys lol
Cheers m8 appreciate your help 👍
Buying an old Mazda tomorrow so subbed u may be handy 😁
No help for I-stop. Light is flashing orange with an orange spanner beside it. I-stop function is not working. Any suggestions??
Don't use the airstream to the frontwindow. (Most right position of the ventilaton.) Use another position and i- stop will work.

How do I lock the trunk on my Mazda 3 Touring
What year?
@@mazdadave9230 2017
Do you mean when you lock the doors the trunk stays unlocked and you can still open it?
Learned some key features without reading the bulky manual-I appreciate it.
Thank you.
Just got a 2018 CX-5. Awesome video. Thank you!
Thank you!
Nice. Useful simple summary of features we seldom read far enough into the manual to learn. I picked up a few things I did not know about. Thanks.
#4, one press is ACC, second press for ON - video says the other way around.
Nice work on the video and I never new Harf of these stuff my Nanny has a Mazda 2 Maxx she has some of these feshers
Thank you for the comment
@@mazdadave9230 your Wellcome 👍
My 2021 Mazda doesn’t have the tpms button
When you top off the tires, it should go away automatically
You should make sure there is no leak though.
Thank you, definatley learned a few great tips.
Thank you for the nice comment.
Thank you for the fantastic, quick, and useful information! This video is done so well!!!!
Thank you!
What's the soundtrack?
My 2005 rx8 gt tire pressure sensor keeps blinking I checked the to and it's good but still flashes. How can I reset.
Might be able to do it with a code reader if nothing in the car works or the sensor might be fucked
If it’s blinking it means one of the battery’s in one of the sensors is going out, considering it’s a 2005 and the battery’s start dying at about 6-7 years you probably need new sensors
@@christianrivera991 any way I can just remove a fuse? I don't think I need them anymore.
Where's #3 :)
That's why he added a bonus tip LMAO!
Oh yeah I didn't notice till I read your comment. Hehe. That's 3 errors that I know of. This guy really needs to go back and do a 'PROPER' version of this video and re-post.
Number 17.
Do preventive undercarriage rust protection as factory one is pretty weak
Thank you so much!!! Super useful and well made, no extra time spend on stuff I don’t care about 😂
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
@Yos Push the start button with the tip of the fob. (Pretend the fob is your finger)
Excellent video
Thank you!
Nice! So much I didn't know.
Thanks for the info! I'm trying to figure out how to get my '16 Mazda3 grand touring to NOT automatically start playing my bluetooth-audio-connected iPhone every time I start the engine...anyone have any tips on this?
Check bluetooth setting on your phone.
How can I get a transmission conversion kit so I can check my oil myself. And not have to go to mazda so they can check it on a lift.On s 2016 Mazda 6
Is there split screen navigation? OR can I listen to radio while I navigate?
You are able to use the NAV and listen to the radio at the same time.
No split screen.
To do this put the car
into N then turn off the car and then put in in Park. This will keep the ACC on.
Just put it in park. Press the engine off button while pressing the gear selector button at the same time.
That is something I always wondered. Also how can you keep the radio on for a long time. Mostly for drive in Movies or waiting for my wife.
@@M9_Prime Just press the start button without depressing the brake. That will also put it acc mode after the car has been turned off.
I’d really like to know how to do that with a manual transmission. No gear selector button to hold when pressing the engine off button
I knew someone had #3 tip!!!!. I hate it when you turn the car off and you are on a call or listening to an important radio program. Also one pet peeve of mine is when you get in the car and it takes way too long to connect to your phone. Way too long. Thanks for that tip!!!
So very helpful thank you so much
Thank you.
None of these tips apply to my Mazda :(
R D same here, just got the 2019 Mazda 3 and was expecting this to be a up to date video being just a year old .
i put led lights in for my daytime running lights and they did not work. I put back in my original sylvania lights and the daytime running lights still will not come on. I checked the fuse and the fuse is not blown. any suggestions?
Check the connections make sure nothings loose or that a tab in the connector didnt get broken or that dirt didnt get in there
I bought these from eBay over a year ago any they work great: Xenon White 69-SMD 9005 LED Hi-Beam DRL Kit for Mazda3 Mazda3 Sport Mazda6
The 1. is of cause bullshit. To set TPS 1. adjust all tires to the designated tire pressure, than press TPS button. Has to be done after tire change. If the light comes on during driving, do not press adjust TPS - button, stop and check tires 1. Maybe one is flat, - that is the purpose of this warning...
Very informative thank you
did you know you can make a mazda cx-5 do a 6-2 downshift with the pedal click?
Is the media button on the cx 7 just for cars equiped with 6 CD charger? Thanks I have an 08
Love the bonus tip. Now i know how to lock the car doors when leaving the car running with a/c for a dog inside.
Thank you!
This video should be called Mazda for Dummies.
That was my exact thought. Like this is just insulting.
Written by a dummy.
Extremely dumb......
I NEEDED this! Our Chevy is an 08, I will be learning stuff this car does for MONTHS lol
That’s why you are watching?
I have the same issue as Dave (one month ago). Pressing and holding INFO button does not reset the orange Need Oil Change warning on the dash message centre. Clears everything else but this. CX-5 2018 It's getting annoying since it's not due for another 5K kms.
Sorry, same issue as Andrew...
Once press on the start button is accessory, 2 is for on.
Thought it was the other way around

What year is your Mazda?
@@mazdadave9230 2019
I would bring it to a Mazda service department and have a technician look at them.
Didn’t understand the bonus one. Can’t you just use the remote to unlock door while the car is running. Why do you need to take the little key out ?
I don’t sell the remote starts. I would check with your local service station, or the owners manual.
Can you connect Apple CarPlay wirelessly?
No. Hard wired only.
