A great solution is to use dip powder with gel to help build some structure and thickness, and then put the gel polish on top. I just went to the salon today and I got dip and gel per their recommendation due to the weakness of my natural nails. I have never seen dip before, worked great! Looks the same as a traditional acrylic service, love it
I love adding layers of acrylic powder to gel overlays. I also do it with color as well. This one is gorgeous in its simplicity :-)

As soon as my first mentor said he felt comfortable with my skill level enough that I could work on others, I started doing friends. I only charged them a small bit to cover product and they understood. They were my practice hands and I couldn't legally do nails in that state. It was a good way to keep learning and also not be running myself dry on product.

@@jenninstitches that's more or less what I've been doing, and luckily their all very understanding & encouraging me to go further especially with the online acrylic coarse, its something for me really, that I've achieved on my own and with disabilities,
I'm on a disability budget so if they want a specific colour or gem they usually tell me and I can order it for as and when I need it...
But I will get there I'm wearing my determination pants today!...😊...

How should you approach an upcoming price increase? And when is a “good” time to change prices? I’ve been up and running now for 3 years on my own
a great time to increase is just before the holidays, but honestly a $5 increase in base pricing is really not that much per client but it is a lot to you so anytime would be no big deal

Gels N Gems Nails you can. Check out the beauty vaults video on dip powder
you can do tips with slick pour in it's traditional form. you would just apply your first layer at the tip seam to establish an anchor
Just purchased 2 conversion base(one for glitter, other for solid), tried with dip powder, works amazing!! BUT question- would this work with tips?! I tried on myself just natural nails but it’s got a nice tight feeling so I was wondering if you guys had done it with tips 😊😊😊 edit: I read down a couple comments this question has been answered
yea unfortunately long tips aren't really possible in this process, you may be able to get away with like a mini repair but wouldn't recommend it as a service in salon. slick pour in it's traditional form can be done with tips but with conversion it self levels so it doesn't do as well

I know that prices vary from each person but this was so helpful because I’ve been having a huge problem with my pricing. I know my prices are low right now (I’ve only been in salon since April) and I’ve been told to raise them but it’s so terrifying. And seeing the price for this set makes me so optimistic about my future services. Now I just need to work up the courage to raise my prices. 😅
Just a $5 increase is all you need, $5 per person is nothing to them but it can be huge to you.

I am very lucky and have a perfect c curve and incredibly strong nails, never need pinching and can grow them 2 inches long easily - square oval. I’m a gel girl through and through 😍
Does the powder remove with remover or would you suggest just to use the new drill and file off? What are your thoughts on using regular acrylic powder instead of slickpour ?
regular powder doesn't absorb in the same way, and yes electric file off is suggested, however it can be soaked if needed

I just watched again, because I'm going to try it. Just to confirm, even though it wasn't shown on the other nails, you did put the slick pour/gel on the other nails before the white gel polish, right?
yep, that's what's gonna give you the strength
What’s the advantage of using this method vs a thin overlay of acrylic liquid/powder
If you are doing an overlay on just a natural nail, the Conversion Gel with Slick Pour can be a more flexible enhancement that will move better on a natural nail.

In this demo we used caption conversion instead of the traditional slick pour steps.
You can either use the resin system or the conversion system
Could you have used white dip powder instead of white gel polish, that's the way I have done it before.? Also, I like the idea of cut up transfer foils. Can't wait to try that.

I see some comments that those weren't worth $75, I beg to differ! That's normal for a dip manicure w/ designs at any salon worth going to. They came out beautiful by the way!

So for this application process...what I've been doing is; apply the base gel, cure, then apply the resin & dip Powder as outlined on the dip Powder instructions.
Would you say that will give a similar effect? Is it better to apply the base gel and clear dip Powder, THEN cure? As shown in your video.

In this instance we used conversion with slick pour because it gives a durable but flexible base, the design was going to be done with gel polish so clear was used instead of color. In this demo the conversion gels eliminate the resin step
With slick pour you should either do the resin system or the conversion system. You cannot mix them

I would recommend this on natural nails to let that client grow into her desired length

What’s the difference between using the activator that comes with dip powder and curing it?? I thought with dip, your suppose to use the activator
In this video, we are using our conversion base and top to apply our slickpour powder so it needs to be cured.
If we were using the resin method, with the activator as one of the steps, then yes you wouldn't need to cure anything.
Is there a way to e-file off to the first base and do a fill, or would it all have to be soaked off?

if you filed down to the base you would start again with the gel base coat and clear slick pour. it is basically the equivalent to a gel polish with a hard gel base
What are your thoughts on the dip powder/gel/acrylic on young kids? Like 7 and 10? Safe or better not to?
Enhancements aren't dangerous to children however they are hard to keep on kids under 16 due to all the extra hormones pumping through their bodies
YoungNailsInc yes, their nail bed are so oily I think, so it doesn’t stay on long but my one daughter has very soft nails and they crack on her all the time so we wanted to try the dip with her and see if it helped Thanks!

I don't offer only gel polish in my salon anymore. Only this service. Sometimes one and sometimes 2 coats slick pour. Not many people gave great enough and strong nails to Warrant only a gel polish. I'm not willing to take that risk anyway😂

Yes it is conversion base cured to have a clear protective layer on the nail plate so upon removal you don't file all the way to the natural nail

Someone has gel builder on natural nail with gel polish. Do you charge for soak off. I understand to use e-file for faster service but the won’t let you because the don’t like the feeling. Lol so I have to soak off.
builder gel actually wont soak off, and I would just inform them you are very well trained with the electric file and that is how you perform your services. if they still resist it may be best for them to find another tech

Why can’t the protein be used with resign or acrylic?
The resin and protein bond don’t mix well so we don’t recommend using them together.
You can 100% use protein bond during prep for an acrylic set as well as on top of acrylic to help prevent chipping/peeling if your gel color/top coat.

go time is a 1 step gel polish that requires no top or base coat, maniQ is a traditional gel polish that does require top and base.

we have hundreds of videos here on the channel, not sure if there's a specific one for short oval but most of the info is the same. most amount of product needs to be at the stress point, typically overlays require less because they get stability from the nail bed

no its caption conversion and slick pour powders. caption conversion is a little thicker than a regular gel polish and slick pour powders are finer than acrylic so they can be absorbed

So I don't do dip powders because state board says it's not sanitary unless you pour in a separate container and throw it out afterwards just seems like a waste of money I'm in Florida and everyone does dips but do it incorrectly. Like even how it's done on the video is technically wrong too so I really don't know what to do.
As she mentions in the video it wasn't demonstrated because we are not working in an actual salon our products are not used on multiple clients. Our dip system comes with individual cups as well as catch all cups to use per service so you are not scooping back into the same product for different clients, as well as ours is poured on instead of dipped so that there is no contamination or unevenness

It's just some clients get mad cause I don't offer this and they always say others do it like that just was curious about it thanks again
exactly, check out our videos on slick pour, you receive glass dishes to take out the required amount for that one service, you use it, catch overflow (to use on the same client) then toss all the left overs once done.
