thank you so much for this. I've been at my wits end with dip top coat and finally gave in and got a lamp and gel top coat. this helped me figure out how to use it!
Hi. Just wondering if you could do a full dip powder color that’s sealed and then decorate with gel polish and go under the uv and go over with a dip powder gloss as normal? I would love to use some dip powder colors but add on the cute designs with my gels. Thanks heaps
Love your content but I’m curious, can you apply two layers of dip powder to strengthen then after shaping apply a base gel then your color then the top coat? Or must you apply the color first then the base on top of the color then the top to prevent pealing?
Hi I love this video thank you. Can I ask how many times did you dip your nail with the powder was that 3 times? Also, you said to wait before brushing it off is that like two minutes thank you. I don’t know what I did wrong I have no nails are short and that’s why I like them but I think I made them too thick so they looked a little fat, so do you recommend anything again thank you so much!
Great video!! I’m just wondering, is activator not needed to harden the dip powder before applying the gel polish? I normally follow the 3 step polishes, but just wondering if it was different when using gel! Thank you :)
I will always use a layer of natural dip powder on my nail to strengthen and protect. Plus it’s impossible to tell that I have product on my natural nails.
Is it really? I’ve been using polygel and clear gel to do this but I’ve just learnt about gel dipping powders and want to do it for work to protect my natural nail and make it stronger! So I’m soooo glad to read this as bought a dipping powder gel set to do this! I’m so excited to try!!! Thank you for leaving the message as it’s so reassuring that I can do this! 🥰
Once the dip powder has been ruffed up, do you apply the gel base first then go on with the color then topcoat OR does the color gel polish go on the top of the build powder and then use base and top off with the topcoat.???????
It’s totally personal preference and will vary on what you need for strength and your lifestyle 🫶🏻 so if someone reaches out to me and says that they’re gel polish is peeling off the dip powder then I would suggest adding the gel base UNDER the color. It’s optional but it can help! Some don’t like the added “bulk” so unless the color is peeling then it’s not always necessary if the dip powder is properly roughed. If someone asks me why their gel top coat is peeling then I would suggest to do a layer of gel base under it. So that would be gel polish color (cure 60 sec) then gel base (cure 60 sec) then gel top (cure 60 sec). Truly the only way to know if you “need” it is through trial and error. I haven’t experienced peeling but it’s totally common and happens 🫶🏻 ultimately it will vary on what’s peeling, the color and/or the top coat. Then that would tell you if you need the base 💕
I love dip powder nails..i jus😢 started adding clear gel after i my top coat for dip, but it would peel off. I tried adding gems as well in my gel top coat. Maybe it's to thick. Will keep trying until i perfect it.
Beautiful color and thanks for all the tips! How come you said cure the gel base for 60sec? Is that how long you personally always cure a gel base? I thought it could be cured in 30?
With that specific lamp it has a 60 sec timer and the gel polish instructions said that time as well 🫶🏻 it will vary on your lamp and what the gel product says 💖
So you start with the dip base coat for the dip powder, then the color of gel polish, and then top it off with a gel top coat? Is that correct? I have a lot of issues doing my nails at home and them lasting. I would love to be able to save $50 every 2 weeks. LOL
Thank you so much for your concern 🫶🏻💕 my lighting + cold weather definitely exacerbates it. I am waiting to get in but from my understanding it is Raynauds syndrome
I love watching your videos. I learn so much and really enjoy trying new ways to do my nails. I have a tip for you....get a small heater! lol Thanks again!! 🌸🌸💕💕❤️❤️
Thank you so much for coming to hang with me! 🥰 It sounds so silly to put a small heater near me in the middle of summer but honestly, that’s a brilliant idea 😆🤣
Hey Chel’s. Happy Friday girl. That’s such a pretty mani. I unfortunately have to take a break for a while from doing my nails. I had some type of allergic reaction & now I have swollen fingers. Really painful. Anyway enjoy you weekend girl.
Well this prevent chipping/peeling? I’ve had trouble with peeling gel polish on my natural nail in the past and my nail tech recommended dip powder underneath so it well last a few weeks instead of a week. Thanks :)
Yes this can be a great solution to that! I also experience more peeling with gel on my natural nails in comparison to dip powder. I actually just shared a video today that goes over building a dip powder apex and applying gel on top if you’re interested 🥰 I would suggest for your dip powder prep to shape your natural nails, push back cuticles, gently buff natural nails to remove shine and dust off. Then apply a dehydrator. That should help prevent the dip powder from lifting!
So pretty. I love that color. I tried peel base coat over a layer of clear dip powder and it pulled off the end of my nail (I stopped there and soaked). What am I doing wrong
Will the "gel method" work if I use gel color as my dipping liquid? I have the Kiss dip starter kit in a pale pink shade, a purple colored powder, a purple gel color, and a jar of clear powder. But I forgot to look for a clear gel top coat 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I’m so sorry to hear this 🥺💖 unfortunately I’m not qualified to give advice on this so I would suggest to check in with a medical provider. Sending you love!
So to take the gel polish off but not ruin the dip powder, I would suggest filing off the gel polish. You could file with a 100 grit file or an efile and once you get to the dip powder stop. That way you can easily change up the gel polish color or do a fill on your dip powder 🫶🏻
@@SipAndDip When using a clear gel coat over the top of dip, Do you omit the dip powder top coat or do you do that first? I experimented on doing both and found the gel top coat is peeling over both. I did however buff the nail so in stead I should only use the file and not buff?
Hi there! I think I may be misunderstanding your question 🫶🏻 are you asking for the prep routine for a standard polish application with gel base and no dip powder? Or during which part?
As long as I skipping the buffing block and keep the dip powder rough, I haven’t needed it 🫶🏻 but if someone experiences any peeling then I would suggest using a base coat first 💖
I do not have a video showing removing the gel polish on the dip powder 🫶🏻 you have a few options! You could use an efile or nail file and file down the color and stop once you get to the dip powder. I’d suggest a 100 grit nail file to really cut through the top coat and gel polish color. Another option would be peel base! You’d apply the peel base on the dip powder and then do the gel on top. Just be sure to complete the dip powder steps and top coat before peel base. Peel base needs a smooth surface so after you dip, activator, file/shape, gel top coat THEN peel base. The peel base will leave the dip powder in tact and then the color will lift off. Only downfall…. Peel base can lift sooner than you’d like. Could be 1 day… could be 5 days. All varies based on how often you have your hands in water etc. I hope this helps 🫶🏻
thank you so much for this. I've been at my wits end with dip top coat and finally gave in and got a lamp and gel top coat. this helped me figure out how to use it!
Just applied my powder base last night using the pouring over method that you teach and I loved it 🥰, not too thick at all 💅❤️
Yay!! So happy to hear that 🙌🏼💓
no base coat? for gel?
Thank you as always for all of the tips and suggestions. Your ring is stunning btw. Such a beautiful color too.
Thank you so much!! 🥰🥰🥰 I hope you had a nice weekend!!
if you're doing an ombre and you use natural powder to encapsulate it helps blur your ombre making it look flawless 🥰
